For starters I’ve been traveling the world for the last 10 years and eat sushi 2-3 times weekly. I sat down at this place and it took forever to get a drink. If that’s not annoying enough I offered a sushi boat and multiple pieces in the boat didn’t smell right. I refused to eat it and told our waitress about it. The manager happen to be there never came to our table to talk to us rather told the waitress to tell us she would take $12 bucks off our meal. It covered the tax. I was pretty much over this place right then. However I flew into Philadelphia and stayed close to this restaurant. It was later in the afternoon and i ordered food and had it delivered for two of us. The day after eating this sushi I spent the next two days puking my brains out. Couldn’t eat or drink anything. This place isn’t quality and doesn’t take care of their food properly. I highly recommend not eating here. It’s not worth it.

I had 2 sushi rolls which were great. the smoked salmon sashimi was worth every pennie. My wife was also happy with her general tso. Good selection of sake also, we haf the sampler which gives 4 different kinds. The wait staff was great with making sure my picky son had something to eat also. They don't have a kids menu but we ordered plain fried chicken, fries and broccoli. It's not the cheapest place but it's worth it.

Terrible customer service. Several times I have eaten in and taken out from this restaurant. My online food orders have been incorrect twice with no apology from the on duty manager. In fact, the first time my order was wrong (they gave me food $11.00 cheaper than the entree I ordered and had paid online for) the manager kept repeating, “your entree doesn’t come with [that]” and slowly raising his voice in front of the other dining customers insinuating I did not know what food I ordered. Never once did he ask what I ordered, ask why I was upset, or offer to make it better. When I came back a week later, only because a different manager I spoke with on the phone was pleasant and apologized, the manager started raising his voice again in the store. My order was wrong this second time. No apologies from the manager. In fact, he tried to tell me how I was wrong the previous time I got take out (which was an error on the restaurant’s part). This manager should be sent back to hospitality school. Until the restaurant fixes its management problem this restaurant should be a HARD PASS for everyone in Wilmington. Far better service at other local places.

I barely rate any place lower than a 4,and rarely so for a place I have visited multiple times in the past 2 years. My friend took us to celebrate her birthday and engagement ,so we were visibly excited. Now ,given most of the clientele are from surrounding offices- I do feel that the service could be definitely faster. It was the Tuesday after Labor day and place wasn't very crowded but we waited ~ 45 mins for a bento box ! Ok,now waiting long is justified if the food makes up for it.I ordered Schezwan shrimp and guess what ? I had to struggle to find a piece of shrimp through a heap of veggies! I immediately told the waiter that what's with the skimpy portion(2 tiny pieces)- she fumbled :" Oh well..you see it's a lunch portion so they are half- etc etc! " I wish this was conveyed earlier! I have ordered the bento box before several times and by far this was the worst of the lot.I didn't wanna call the manager later to convey my concern because we were celebrating with friends. For $16 a plate,that is indeed steep for a lunch portion.My suggestion is, please ensure customer leaves the restaurant full and happy instead of a half hearted dissatisfying meal. Oh and the taste wasnt much to speak of either.I am certainly never going back.People who leave all the great reviews have probably not been to better places in town or had too much Sake to drink!Please dont take your custoners for granted because you are the only decent Japanese restaurant in the area(by the ratings atleast). The two stars are for the hot towel and good music.

Nice atmosphere and friendly service! A surprising amount of people midweek (I went on a Wednesday evening), but didn't have to wait at all for a table and the service was pretty efficient. The food was great, although not as spicy as we'd been hoping for (asked for extra spicy). But overall a nice experience. Would recommend it!

The service we received tonight was not pleasing at all. Two of our entrees were never put in. Our server was very impersonable. She waited 20 minutes or more to check on us. Two of us put in orders to go and never received them. The manager seems to not be concerned with the fact our server appeared to be miserable with her job. When the checks were presented was the only time our server appeared to have any pep in her step. She returned within minutes to ensure our bill was paid. For such an upscale restaurant, the service was very poor. We spent a good deal of money to receive such poor service.

Beautiful decor and ambience inside, chill music, pretty writing on the bar chalkboards...I got the Galaxy and Sunrise and cannot wait to try everything on the menu...beautiful plating, too! Will definitely return for future visits!

I popped into Mikimotos at the recommendation of the Residence Inn a few blocks away and was super happy to see how great it was. Great menu offering a very wide variety of traditional and more creative sushi options. The food was exceptional and very reasonably priced even though the portions are very generous. The super friendly staff keeps the energy very lively and the crowd clearly enjoys this place. Great spot as well if you’re solo as the bar area has tons of seating, all with great views of multiple sports screens. Well done....cheers.

Service was really bad, hostess was not welcoming at all. Once we got the table, the server seemed very rushed. Food was ok, can't say I would go there again. We went there for our anniversary, learned really quickly that this not the place to celebrate an occasion.

Terrible customer service... it’s really a shame! such great food but bad service! I ordered a sushi roll that was not fresh tasted as if it had been sitting a while I advised waiter of such he wasn’t sure what to do told me it should be fine he then brought a plate to me and ask me to remove additional sushi rolls off the plate so he can take the one that was not fresh back (which it looks that he was advised by manager Noell)... I advised waiter that I’m not willing to take my addition sushi off the plate so he can take one roll away he then advised me that if we ate any more of the sushi he was going to charge me for the sushi the roll that wasn’t fresh which was for my 9 year old brother my brother then felt uncomfortable about waiter saying such... that’s seemed very strange that he would ask such a thing or say such a thing to a customer lol very Inappropriate I am a frequent customer at mikimotos this experience put a very bad taste in my mouth. The manager Noell didn’t acknowledge problem at all to she walked right pass me lol what a shame good restaurants fail because of poor service! I hope this issue gets fixed soon! Or they bring back old management because the change reflects and not in a good way at all! To put the cherry on the cake when the waiter took the sushi he advised us (my 9 year old brother and I) not to eat because he would charge us for it. He then walked to the back on his way to kitchen eats one of the sushi rolls off the plate despicable ... I truly can’t believe this experience.

Make reservations, Mikimotos should not be missed. Atmosphere is wonderful, dark enough to be cozy and decorated not to be a distraction. The entire staff was friendly and service was great. Ask questions if you are new to sashimi or sushi. Best scallops I've ever had. Top of the dining rotation fof 2019.

I came here with a group of co-workers. We were all very impressed with the food and service. They bring hot towels before you eat, the chopsticks are very high-end, and the drinks and food are absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Waited at the host stand for several minutes. No staff at the bar, but 3 guys making sushi and one guy eating/talking on his phone (facing me at the host stand). He made no effort to get someone from the back or tell me "it'll just be a minute." He just continued having a good old time while I waited. I finally gave up and left. There are lots of great restaurants on this street, no reason to wait at one that doesn't have the courtesy to seat a guest.

Like a lot of ethnic spots in tiny Wilmington, Miki seems to rest on the fact that, quality wise, they're the only real game in town. Speaking only about the bar, Staff is tight lipped and guarded; typically even sitting directly in front of them I have to greet them first they do not make a habit of asking if you would like anything additional, etcetera and focus only on stocking and pick up orders. While the Hairy Mexican is absolutely worth the trip, it would be nice to be treated as though your business is welcomed.

This is my go-to Sushi Bar in the area. They have a great selection of sushi and sashimi. The menu includes a couple fully cooked options which my wife appreciates a lot, as she gets sushi cravings even more when pregnant. The staff is very friendly and I have never had a bad visit. The only detractor I think some people might not like is that it gets very loud when the restaurant is full, as there are no dividers to help dampen the sound. I don't mind it at all, but some people might. I highly recommend this restaurant.

This is by far my favorite sushi place in Delaware, I come here multiple times a month! All the rolls I've had are fantastic, the servers are really friendly and the desserts (especially the Oreo cheesecake spring rolls) are delectable! Highly recommended for date night, lunch specials, happy hours, every occasion! I will be back!

The cost does not justify the food taste. I am not sure how this place has so many good reviews - it’s definitely misleading. I think it only runs cause it’s the only sushi place in Wilmington - this place will not survive in a big town like philly. I went to this place multiple times over the past 2 years and it offered above average food up until last year, this year it’s just not worth going. Sushi- I am going to compare this to restaurants in Philly Zama and Morimoto, I consider sushi at these places to be really good, yes they are expensive places than this but this is what my benchmark is for a good sushi and the price these guys charge is in the same range as Zama. Compared to these places the sushi here is mediocre at best some dishes are good but some are awful - Tropical Sushi is an example of that - it’s down right $12 rip off. It shouldn’t be like that - I expect all dishes to be good no matter what I order - there should be a standard. Pad Thai - DO NOT ORDER THIS cause it will not taste like Pad Thai at all - try Pad Thai at Southeast Kitchen or Ubon Thai in Wilmington - they have pretty decent Pad Thai and other Asian food. The food I got here was filled with soy sauce and there was no peanut flavor at all - Why call it a Pad Thai if it doesn’t taste or smell like one - this dish costs 22$ I wasn’t even sure what I got. If it was a 10$ dish I would have let it go thinking I got a bad dish but it’s not. Calamari - Calamari was not fully cooked I literally had indigestion not once but twice.

The sushi is top quality. But the servers- try not to ask for a consistent amount of sauce for your sushi. Some of them act like they own the sauce and don’t really want to give you enough to cover half of a large order.

What they truly know how to make there is money. Overpriced mediocre non-Japanese sushi spot that would fail anywhere else. Sorry, Wilmington.

Not sure if the place was Chinese or Japanese. The food was absolutely delicious. Lots of sushi combinations. Sour broth soup was really great! The menu was extensive, with all the condiments you could want. The prices were reasonable. The server was very courteous and provided first-rate service. Never got his name but I told him it was my first visit. Outstanding place!!!

Lunch special is good but it's always taking so long for the order to arrive. We went here for lunch around 11:30 and it's like we're the third customers that arrive for lunch but we waited more than half an hour fir our food even we all order sushi and there's like 6 people working at the sushi bar amd we still waited that long.

Omg I almost ate a hair in my food. But the manager was nice and ask me not to pay . I have always had a wonderful experience in the restaurant. But my appetite left once I chewed on the hair. Other than that it's a very nice place clean it might be awhile before I go back but yuck.

I love Mikimotos! It’s mine and my moms go to place when she comes to visit from out of state. Everyone there is super friendly and their food is so fresh and delicious. I left my purse there one night and they held it for me in the safe until I could come pick it up. I love this place !!

Had many sushi servings all fresh, the raw scallops were great. A little disappointed with a fantasy lobster roll. The seared tuna wasn't fresh, probably prepared earlier in the day. The oreo egg roll dessert is always awesome.

The service, aesthetics, and location of the restaurant are all good, but the food at Mikimotos is a bit mediocre and too pricey. Two of my dishes had flaws; my sushi roll was lukewarm and smelled funny, and some of my banana coins (fried pastries) were cold—a telltale sign of defrosting. Unless you really want to enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant, I would not recommend eating here.

If you've seen my previous reviews, I am a big fan of authentic Japanese food with a love of yakitori. All though yakitori isn't high on the list, this is a great Japanese restaurant if you are looking for the regular fair. The sushi is fresh and the bento boxes taste great. Definitely a good place for lunch and I am looking forward to sample the other items on the menu for dinner.

A lot has changed over the years, some decisions i really don’t agree with as an avid sushi lover (addict). A lot of their choices scream westernization where they used to stay pretty true to the actual meals they modeled their spinoffs on. overall, it isn’t bad, but it certainly is not what it was before. i tend to just head to philly for the smaller sushi spots that are a bit more true to the roots, but i do still enjoy the food here as well. staff has always been pretty good to me and many tend to recognize me as soon as i walk in nowadays, so at least in my opinion it is still worth coming back regardless.
