The food and cocktails were great but the service was fairly slow and unpersonal. The food was priced appropriately for the quality/quantity (make sure you try the fries!). We will most likely return as it is within walking distance.

Went there for our anniversary during restaurant week and it was really good. Great food. Granted we got 3 courses for $35 but the normal prices seemed reasonable too. Everything was cooked exactly as asked. Probably a little bit loud as the evening went on but the service was good and we went on a sunny day so the setting was perfect. Would recommend.

Eclectic menu ... good food. Came to see a local band play. Fantastic atmosphere! 3 stars for horrific service and the a-hole bartender who was clearly disturbed every time we asked him for a drink. Buddy, you killed it for me. I certainly shouldn't feel guilty asking for drinks (especially when I'm sitting at your bar!)

Ambience is great. I love the decor here. I couldn't stop looking around and checking out the art. The menu is limited and mostly small plates. We had the lamb meatballs, tuna poke, baked crab dip, pork bao buns, calamari, and the ribs. All were done well but the crab dip and the tuna were my favorites. Drinks are also done well. It is somewhat pricey.

I went here for a fundraiser event about a few months ago, didn't have a good experience at all. Sat at the bar and it took the bartender about a good 25 minutes to serve me and a few of my friends. The bartender was kinda rude and acted like he didn't want to serve us. The only good thing I can say about this place, it is clean. I will never ever come back to this place again.

Not impressed. I shared several small plates with a friend and had a few drinks. The food was fair, but pricey for the amount. The dessert (chocolate cake) was dry and inedible. There was a guy stumbling around drunk, who practically fell in my friend's lap and this was at only 9pm. Yet, despite all of this we still tipped more than 20% each. The following week, I noticed that my account had been charged more than I authorized. Essentially, it was as if I had given a 40% tip! My friend was charged the correct amount and tip. I did get the extra amount credited back to my account after filing a complaint with my bank. If you go, hang on to your receipt until the charge clears your bank.!

As a local who spends about 80% of her evenings at Merchant Bar, it's safe to safe I love this place. The food is phenomenal, and the drinks are even better. The normal bartender, Doug, may be the light of my life. If you're not drinking here, you're missing out.

First time at the Merchant Bar, grabbed a quick dinner before a show at The Queen. My friend and I thought the service was attentive and kind. Great food. I ordered the Cauliflower Tacos and my friend a Burger. We would definitely come back!

Great service, nice food menu. It was a bit warm in the restaurant, uncomfortably warm. The draft beer selection was slim. The dry rub & Korean style wings were excellent. The Korean bbq shrimp small plate was very very good. Wanted more if those! The crab dip was okay, loads of crab chunks but it had a slightly fishy taste. Will definitely go back, some other menu items looked great, like the Dan Dan Noodles.

Love this place. Very unique cocktails. Delicious food. A little pricy but so worth it. Their cocktails are 12 bucks a pop but they're all VERY strong and delicious. You're getting your money's worth. Also have great wine, full bar. food, and a happy hour.

The bearded bartender is great. Not only is his service impeccable, but he must have amazing crates at home because his music selection is one of the best bartender playlist I've sat thru.

Food was tasty but the service was very very slow. At one point, they took away our utensils only to give us utensils back 20 minutes later (I think they assumed we had finished but we only got our apps and were waiting for our entrees). I can understand it was busy but it took over two hours to get our food. The portions were also a lot smaller than we anticipated.

Food was tasty but portions were smaller than expected. Burger was seasoned very well and had unique sauces and toppings but it only came with about 14 individual potato chips, not very filling. I wish the burger came with an additional complimentary salad to pair with the richness of the burger. In general, there were no salads available on the menu which was surprising granted this place admiration for fresh ingredients. Indoor decor and bar were very pleasant however.

Excellent meal, had the ahi tuna poke with chips, great flavor, and the smoked duck "moo shu," nontraditional but delicious and filling. Dessert was less impressive: the tiramisu ladyfingers still had crunch to them; the semifreddo (vanilla with lemon curd) was a great flavor, but frozen hard rather than "half-frozen."

I love this place. I've been 8 or 9 times, and never had a bad experience. The food is good (the best mussels I've had - I could NOT stop eating them!), the drinks selection is plentiful, and they throw a great dance party (DJ Zip - and he accommodates requests!). We even did New Year's Eve at Merchant, and it was well worth the $50, as it was open bar from 9 - midnight. This may be my favorite place in Wilmington.

I love the bar and the barman is very talented! Delicious food also and my favorite is the cheese plate. Edit: may 22nd 2018. It was 10pm, time to go home and I ask the waitress if I could pay and she told me that one of my friend already took care of it. Ok then i ask her if I could have a glass of water and she told me the bar was closed. Dumbfounded i asked again about water, you know H20, this free good supplied by the city and she refused again. Well ok we just paid 150$ to your bar and you refuse a glass of water, I guess I understand why you are a waitress and not the owner of this place. A glass of water. Overall a great experience, bartender listened and was thoughtful in making some great/creative suggestions we thoroughly enjoyed. This even included some mocktails for the one of us not drinking that night, but not wanting to miss out. The shrubs and bitters made on site were delightful. The food we ordered was all presented very nicely and tastes ranged from OK to great depending on the dish. Overall very enjoyable experience that will definitely cause us to come back.

The atmosphere and lighting is so cool! Second time there. Loved the drinks and food was great. Waitress seemed to not want to be there. Had a party of 10 who unfortunately were arriving at various times and maybe she was disturbed by that?? Saw her rolling her eyes and obviously wasn't happy about having to attend to us. We went to concert across the street and tried to come back after concert And for a couple more drinks, now there were 16 of us, and we were told they weren't serving anymore?? It was 10:45pm We were a little surprised that a place right across from a concert venue would not take advantage of the extra sales that would take place after the event?? Anyway, you missed out on about $400 in sales.

Living in a town where a traditional cocktail is hard to get, it was a great treat for me to have an EXCELLENT Old Fashion. One of the best I have had and that is my drink. The small plates were exceptional. The bar reminds me of a bistro in a much larger city. I like the space and atmosphere. Will be returning soon to sample their special drinks and more of the food. And I did return and had the Gentleman's Jig. Just the best. My friend liked the hip atmosphere. Still the best cocktails around and food too, excellent.
