Surprising good for the price (cheep) and location (in a shopping plaza). I recently traveled to Japan and was pretty sure I would no longer be able to eat sushi in the US (it’s hard to go back to “normal” once you have what it’s supposed to taste like). Pro tip: the restaurant is BYOB so consider popping over to Giant or Wholefoods to grab a bottle prior to arriving. We’ll likely return

Went here for a friend's bday dinner. Food was great. Service was awesome, will definitely be back. Sashimi was fresh, shrimp tempura roll was yummy as well. The restaurant is small but was relatively packed when we arrived we waited about 20-30 minutes for a table but was well worth it.

The lunch specials are very reasonably priced and our meal worked out to less than $20 per person. Dinner will probably work out at somewhere between $$ and $$$ depending on how hungry you are. This is probably a top 5 Asian restaurant on the Main Line, though I am not giving it 5 stars. Unfortunately, it isn't great on an absolute scale - the suburbs just aren't the place for excellent Asian food. We had the rainbow poke bowl, the sushi lunch (California roll, spicy tuna roll, and 6 pieces of sushi), and the maki combo (we chose the California roll, salmon avocado roll, and shrimp tempura roll). Everything was decently prepared and much better than what you'd expect at most suburban Asian restaurants. For those who are curious about what's missing (compared to that absolute scale) - it was the quality, texture, and seasoning of the sushi rice.

Ordered take out from Kuma. Sushi quality was SUPERB. Loved the rolls - solid ratio of filling to rice, fresh ingredients all around, and good construction (did not fall apart trying to pick it up). I will be frequenting them for my sushi needs.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Tremendously courteous and friendly staff! I've only called for pick up orders and haven't dined in yet, but I appreciate that the staff always has my orders ready within 20 min by the time I arrive. Pick up orders are also nicely packaged, even chopsticks and containers of soy sauce are neatly placed in paper bag to prevent leakage elsewhere into your order. Great sushi! Very straight forward menu. Small interior allows the staff to interact with and take care of all customers. The menu offers a few items other than sushi and sashimi, but sushi seems to be their focus. Prices are clearly indicated on the menu. Be sure to check the specials board for the day's specials. I'm glad we saw it just before we ordered because we ended up getting one of the special rolls. Again, delicious sushi and great service. We plan on visiting again.

The sushi is REALLY good, and a bargain at lunch.. but don't miss the entrées like crispy chicken in sweet spicy sauce. You get a TON and it's pretty tasty. Gyowza seem inconsistent (odd filling last time) but overall you can't miss.

Great value for the lunch special. Generous cuts of fresh fish with no need for a "cover-up" with a heavy sauce. Heavy sauce at a seafood place is always a bag sign. If I can't taste the natural "bland" flavor of the food itself, something is off. Great to be close to this restaurant. The price beats the subsidized World bank canteen. Though in some places I've traveled to, for the price of one dish, you get a buffet, where you order within the buffet menu for limitless rounds as long as you finish you food (there's penalty for not finishing). But flights to those places cost much more, right? I'm just grateful Kuma is in town.

Excellent sushi restaurant. It's small with seating for maybe 50 people. Not only is the food outstanding, the presentation of what you order matches the quality (see the photo). While the restaurant is small, some may think it cramped, the service is also excellent, even when it's crowded. we haven't tried it yet, but they also have Omakase on the menu. Looking forward to trying that the next time we're there. Updated 3/1/2019. Back again with a group of 6 for omakase. Not impressed. We did not explicitly give then advance knowledge. Even so, if omakase is clearly on the regular menu, without any indication to order in advance, they should be prepared. Our server had to ask. Not impressed. Had better omakase for less just asking for whatever was fresh. Still outstanding presentation, on a scale of 1 to 10 give the omakase a 3 plus 1 for they presentation, 4-total. Omakase NOT recommended.

This place just opened in March, and I had the pleasure to dine there last week. We got a couple specialty rolls, edamame, and a crispy pancake. Everything was delicious, beautifully presented, and this was a nicely filling meal for 2. The staff were courteous and attentive.

This is by far my favorite sushi spot. The fish is always fresh and prepared properly. Lots to choose from on the menu and the daily specials are always great. On top of everything else the staff is always on point and very friendly. Any time someone asks me for a sushi recommendation I tell them go to Kuma!

I came because I live close and like sushi and wanted to see if it was really worth all the five star reviews. It was. Excellent food. Fresh, nice presentation, great value. To sum up, it's no Michelin star restaurant, but it's one I would definitely want to return to frequently! Bravo! Updates: I continue to be impressed with every visit here. Came two times in two days (with different people). The staff and the food presentation is so thoughtful (we had a bonus orange presentation when we ordered 3 orders of the yummy and very fairly priced Mochi dessert). Also, the rainbow poke bowl is amazing, and priced amazingly for the lunch special. So much flavor, so much yum, so much fish. So much quality and value! The ebi poke bowl was great as well. The $1 additional for salad side for the lunch entrees was great! Very refreshing. The $1 side miso soup is also great, if salad isn't your thing.

The sushi and sashimi lunch combo was excellent. The dim sum starter sampler was also delicious. The place is small and quiet, with a pleasant ambiance. A nice new restaurant at the Wynnewood shopping center is a welcome addition.
