This Restaurant is included in the category of Traditional American restaurant.
Really good spot to eat. The beer selection was great. Lots of Belgian styles. Got the turkey meal and it was just like Thanksgiving. The inside decor is really neat. Definitely the gem of old New Castle.
If you are in New Castle, Jessop's tavern is a must! I had to choose my last meal (ok, last meal before surgery) I cleared having a beer with my doctor and then set about finding a place that would serve actual beer and possibly pub food. My Husband picked this place and it was perfect! Only slight problem was that we had arrived only 30 minutes before the kitchen closed but not to worry, our gracious waitress made sure that we got everything our hearts desired food wise before the kitchen closed. At no time did we feel rushed, which is good because all of the food was so good! I also picked out a hearty beer for myself called Lucifer, which was just as dark and delicious as it's name implies. I would definitely return for the pot roast alone!
We loved this restaurant. It is a unique place for several reasons and the food was exceptional. The building is about 300 years old and the tavern is candle lit, with low ceilings and dark wood. The wait staff dresses in Colonial costume and the food is served on pewter dishes. Our server Shannon was extremely helpful, allowing me to taste a few very interesting imported beers. Belgian beers are a specialty here and the selection is phenomenal. Craft tap beer can also be taken home in jugs or "growlers". We loved the seafood chowder and grilled vegetable sandwich on focaccia bread. The rolls were delicious and served with a very tasty white chocolate butter. Shannon told us the chef regularly makes different specialty butters. For dessert I had a wonderful peach cobbler and my partner had the "motor oil" ice cream. This is coffee ice cream with green colored caramel running through it. He said it was easily the best ice cream he has ever had!
This place has some of the best atmosphere that you will get in Northern Delaware. The food is fantastic and offers some classic American dishes and some of the modern stuff as well. This isn't even to mention the service, it's some of the best I've ever seen and it makes you feel right at home in the colonial U.S... that is if you weren't on your phone reading this review.
It was a wonderful experience: dinner, service and atmosphere. I had the Shepherds Pie and my wife had the meatloaf. We also shared a bread pudding for dessert. You won't leave hungry. It was sooooo good.
This place was so unique and nicely decorated! It was a beautiful experience and the food was amazing! This was truly an amazing experience, I would definitely go again. I'm already planning my next visit haha.
Delicious food at a reasonable price. Service good, large beer selection. You will not be disappointed.
Really good spot to eat. The beer selection was great. Lots of Belgian styles. Got the turkey meal and it was just like Thanksgiving. The inside decor is really neat. Definitely the gem of old New Castle.
Love this place. Truly historic atmosphere, great food and drink selection.
Jessop's is a must if you are in New Catle Old Town. The unique beers, food and atmosphere is unparalleled.
Food and service were excellent. My husband got surf and turf special and I had the Swedish meatloaf. Beer and food were awesome. Lots of choices on the beer menu.
Was in town for just a couple nights, this place was so good I went two nights in a row
I'm relatively new to Delaware. I had no idea that historic New Castle existed. Its pretty awesome. Jessops Tavern fits perfectly in the aesthetic. (That sentence make sense?) Anyway, its cozy, quaint and very welcoming. They have every beer you can imagine and their menu is full of comfort food. We went on a cold night right before Christmas. I'm not sure, but I might have been in a Charles Dickens story. Looking forward to going back.
Good food with friendly staff.
Very pleasant. Good food and service, really no complaints. Small dining room filled with exuberant couples and groups enjoying their meals and the charming ambiance.
Excellent
So I was super excited to find when traveling through the area. So the ambience inside is amazing. And the area is fantastic for walking. I think the food was just okay nothing spectacular to write home about. I was upset that their version of their Ruben was no longer on the menu when I got there.
This is a place that you need to experience! Awesome food, great atmosphere, and tons of fun.
The food was great. Shepherd's pre was a meal for two, or maybe even three. Beer selection was phenomenal, lots of drafts from Belgium.
Affordable place to had a pint of beer and some cocktail with presence of live music on some occasions.
Great food and we can't forget the Woodside Creamery ice cream!!
The atmosphere is great, food is delicious. Their beer selection is even better!!!
Great atmosphere!!! Great food!! I still don’t know how they build their shepherds pie soo high...it’s really a tasty dinner.
Nice atmosphere and good pub menu. Fish and chips are good (I'm told by my dining companions). Service was friendly...especially worth mentioning since they have to wear those period costumes! Stinky, God-awful air freshener being sprayed on a timer in the bathroom, so I suggest you might want to avoid sitting near that corner!
Wonderful place. Good food, but despitecalling it a pub, most of the beer there is Dutch. There's no English Beer except Guinness right now. That was disappointing. They didn't have a full menu on when we came but it's on now.
One the best places to eat by far. Its situated in a quaint colonial district of Wilmington DE. You will be transformed back to the early 1800's. The food is amazing. I had the Battery Burger it was made perfectly. The crab dip was delicious. Even the kids chicken tender platter was awesome. The interior is set in 1794, the mis matched tables, chairs and dinerware adds an authentic touch. Oh the Ice cream! Oh the ice cream! Im telling everybody about Jessops
One of the oldest tavern /resterant in the country. Great atmosphere you could expect to see a colonial come through the door. Food is very good you have to see it. I used to go to Delaware on business but did not find this until retired. If I go back to the area again I'll copy in
Great food. Great beer. Huge selection on tap and enormous selection in bottles. Definitely worth a stop.

From the atmosphere, to the food, to the staff, this place is totally committed to making your visit extra special. The fish and chips were something truly unexpected. The ice cream was extremely excellent and a must try. I loved everything about this place.
Ye olde style Belgian/English pub with delicous comfort food. Friendly service, a brew list a mile long, and fantastic desserts. Ideal historic New Castle dining with plenty of reasons to visit repeatedly.
This was truly a wonderful experience. The service and atmosphere really stood out. They actually lit a candle at the table. Our waitress was super knowledgeable and polite but not stiff. The food was delicious but you'll have to try for yourself.
Great place, lots of beer choices. Food is excellent. Prices are a bit high but it's a tourist destination.
Awesome restaurant- setup in a historic setting and in a building that is more than 100 years old. The building was built in 1671. The tavern boast of impressive inventory of beers including a large array of Belgian beers. Food is very good and service was great. We tried fish and chips and fish-trio - both were very good.
Excellent service and atmosphere coupled with a truly impressive choices.

When the broccoli is better than most meals you’ve ever had, that’s saying something.
A trip to a time of taste and values in atmosphere and quality service. treat yourself to gorgeous ventures into colonial times clad with artwork , antiques, and warming friendliness. The dining here can only be described as splendid and consistent. Treat yourself to perfection deserve it.
Had never visited New Castle. Was invited to a business lunch. Ended up spending a very enjoyable afternoon at Jessop's. Loved the food as well as the beer selection. Looking forward to warmer weather so I can explore the historic area. Will definitely be back.
Such a cute and cozy place with authentic colonial charm. Had delicious drinks and desserts. Warm spiced and spiked cider was a real treat.
Great charm and probably the largest Belgian beer selection outside of Belgium! Food was fabulous and huge portions!
One of the best places to eat! Its small but quaint and the food is 5 star!
A gem of a find! If you like Belgian beer, you need to go here. Food was normal good tasty pub food. Drinks were exceptional. Staff were amazing. Quirky place overly deserving of your attention. Desserts we're amazing. Peach lambic ice cream was awesome. They had a high chair.
Great atmosphere with great food. Love the history of the area. The waitress’s wear authentic outfits but it’s not cheesy like some places we have been. We had salmon bite as an appetizer that were wonderful. The 4 of us then split the shepherds pie and duck. With desert our bill was $66. Could not be happier! Love this place. We don’t drink but the selections are amazing.
Great food... amazing beer menu. We love the place and great atmosphere. Staff is really friendly. The only issues that we have is that there is always a wait... but, that is just a sign of how good it is.
Extremely different dining experience in a good way. The food was great. The service is excellent. They have so many choices on beers and their staff will take you back to the colonial times. Awesome!
Atmosphere, food, fare is an experience
Nice food. I had the Tilehouse chicken sandwich. It's basically a nice chicken bacon sandwich with sweet potatoes fries. As a colonial tavern, they've got the atmosphere on point. And the colonial flavored ice cream is lovely. It's also in historic New Castle, so bonus! They've got a very large range of drafts and beers to select from, but my husband wasn't around, so it wouldn't be fair of me reviewing the quality. I will eventually go back with him, and update.
Pulled pork sandwich and sweet
Not even close to well done burger.
Great ice cream.
Food and service were good
Fantastic selection of Belgian beers! Food is great, too. They do colonial food and others. My wife loves the pot pies.
The restauirant. Their food was great at awesome prices. The atmosphere was great.
The food is soo good, the service is friendly! I get excited when coming here. The only reason I give 4 stars is the extra noisiness and the running/crawling kids the day my sister and I were there having a glass of wine.
Always love going to jessop's. We're locals and choose going here over leaving town often.
My friend is making a book of a 5 to 10k run he is doing in each state with an overnight stay at a hotel and eating at a local restaurant. He chose Jessop's and let me tell you I am happy he did!. I went with him on this trip and I got the clam dip and a bacon burger with blue cheese. Both were awesome. He had the turkey feast and he loved it as well. The ambiance of the place along with the food was perfect. They also dress in period clothing. Out waitress was friendly and personable and even the other people at the next table were friendly. I def want to go back even though it is a 4 1/2 hour drive. So far he has covered about 10 states and this stop has been the best by far. I highly recommend this place. My order was $29 and worth every cent
Very nice place and good food
Great place with an authentic atmosphere. It is a little pricey but you do get large portions.
I love this place! Greats Belgian Beers around.
Best ice cream ever. 5$ for a huge waffle cone. With alot of ice cream. Well worth the price. You can just walk in and order then take a stroll around the park.
While the food was notably good, we'll have even better memories of the atmosphere and service. Jessop's is nestled right in the heart of historic Old New Castle and a cozy little place that gives you a colonial experience you'll never forget. It's a great place to take visitors that are not from the east coast (like us).
Great atmosphere food outstanding and a great place old New Castle Delaware .
Great time! Service was great & food was delicious!
The food was hot and tasted wonderful. The atmosphere was amazing and I felt like I was back in the 18th. Century.
We have been in love with jessups for years so we were a little more than surprised at the quality during our most recent visit. Maybe new management, maybe new cooks...definately new wait staff, but it just isnt the same. The quaint experience wasn't there and the food was just not up to what we've come to expect from such a great place. Maybe it was a hiccup and we hope it was. Check it out if u haven't. Its a nice place.
I have to say I always enjoy going to Jessop's And today they were playing Irish music It was great
Great atmosphere with great food. Their burgers are amazing.
I am from out of state, but Jessop’s is the first place I want to visit when I am in Delaware! The beer selection is phenomenal, and the food has generous portions. If you are in the area I STRONGLY recommend visiting Jessop’s.
The beer selection is second to none! Great food with great people
Great food... amazing beer menu. We love the place and great atmosphere. Staff is really friendly. The only issues that we have is that there is always a wait... but, that is just a sign of how good it is.
This is our go-to dinner spot when someones in town. I absolutely love the soft lighting, the music selection, and the HUGE beer selection. They even let you walk back to their fridges to take a look and see what you might like. And if you do like something bottled, you can buy it and bring it home. Some of the beers are served in pottery cups made by the tavern, and you can purchase one if you like them. The food is always great, I always suggest the meatloaf. Making a reservation is really easy on their website and worth the couple of minutes to do so, in my opinion.
Walked the Warren to the room paralell to the main dining room and bar. As most tables in the room, space was limited. The food was delicious. Hot rolls and ice cold butter was served long after the main dishes. Alternate beverages had to be requested after dinner was served vs. at time of selection.
OMG - BEST FOOD EVER!!!
Great food and atmosphere!
The staff were great. My only complaint was the mussels were over cooked, otherwise the food was very good.
Beautiful, colonial atmosphere, from decor to wait staff dressed in colonial attire. Food is delicious, presentation superb and menu has a great variety! Friendly and attentive wait staff. Very cozy and quaint!
Great atmosphere and excellent beer selection. I went in early afternoon, but I imagine Jessop's gets pretty busy around dinner time.
The food here is always excellent and I love how quaint it is.
An amazing selection of Belgian beers and really great food. Best to get a reservation as it's a small place. Servers are super friendly and efficient. Highly recommend!
Great colonial food and servers in period dress in a three hundred plus year old building in a picturesque historic Delaware town. Need I say more?
Nice tavern with a lot of colonial flair. Great selection of beers on draft including one of the highest ranked beers in the world. Higher than Dogfish and they have that too! A great plus for me.is that it is like a traditional European old.style tavern/pub without the distractions of sports on TV everywhere you turn. Perfect tavern to focus on your company instead of mindlessly watching TV. The Shepard's Pie.was large enough to feed three people!
This restaurant is so good. It many american foods from the typical burger to the more extravagant beef. They also serve ice cream, and there is a big river nearby so you can purchase your vanilla ice cream and go for a walk. In my opinion this place is for the entire family.
First time visit, there was a concert in front of town hall and went for a black and tan. Server took my substitution without letting me know it wouldn't appear the same as a B&T, didn't even sip it and they still tried to make me pay for it. Managment finally relented.
I told the owner if I could gv 25 thumbs up, oh wait,
The service is great, I had the most delicious steak and chicken salad, called The Barrel. My husband had the meat loaf. We highly recommend these dishes. Atmosphere was really cool, it is like you are stepping back in time. We will definitely go back!
I just pickup crab cakes for my lunch, the girl told me that it just came out from the kitchen. I had a 8 min. drive back, when I open to eat the potatoes and the crab cake they were cold. The mash potatoes were hard, the green beans were over cooked and cold. The crab cake was saltie and there were NO lump of crab meat and a lot of binder. I was so disappointed. Please if you want a great or even good crab cake meal DO NOT GO THERE! I also ordered a shepherd's pie, that was also cool not even warm, potatoes were hard, the gravy they give you to pour over the pie was a little warm and taste like they opened a can of gravy ( home made) tasted horrible . Will never order from them again. Money down the drain........
Excellent beer choices and kind bartender/wait staff. We always leave with a full stomach and sometimes to-go bags as well. The period garb add to the ambience but the staff isn't over the top which makes it more normal to go to. Would recommend!
Best bar with best choice of beers. They have all kinds of beers. Love the atmosphere and the servers/bartenders. Will be a regular for sure.
This place truly takes you back in time. It is in historic New Castle and is a perfect restaurant for the authenticity of a tavern. The food is comfort food with a wide selection of beers on tap. I take clients here for dinner because of the charm of the area.
Great atmosphere. Great food.
Lovely atmosphere. We only stopped in for ice cream, which was phenomenal. Food smelled great, will be back for lunch!
Awesome little place tucked away from the beaten path. WARNING the portions are massive, consider splitting.
We visited this historic comfortable venue yesterday. The food is a bit mediocre, wait staff dressed in period costume and music selection reflects the same. Nice beer selection. Location is fun as Old New Castle is wonderful for walking as well preserved with cute little shops etc. Worth stopping by if in the area.
The setting was pretty cool, a 1700's style. The food was amazing and filling. They had so many beers on tap and in bottle. They have homemade icecream which was the cherry on top. Highly recommend this restaurant!!
We had a lovely dinner here. My fiancee enjoyed her pot pie, and my shepherd's pie was also very good. The atmosphere is cozy, the portions are very generous, and the beer selection is rather impressive. The location is also great. Spend some time in Battery Park after your meal as you may need some exercise after all that food. We left very satisfied and will return.
I love Jessop’s! Food and drinks are delicious. The staff is welcoming. One of my favorite local establishments.
Colonial era tavern located next to the colonial heritage park near the bay in New Castle. The tavern is decorated with nice colonial era artifacts. The menu has some unusual colonial era fare that are reasonably priced given the large servings but are not the most palatable.
Very cool place to eat if you're looking for something different, like stepping into a colonial history book.
Fast service. Cheeseburger and bun tasted fresh. Cole slaw was awesome.
The bartender was well knowledge and very polite while not being overly friendly. I enjoyed the food and the unique beverages.
Old timey place. People dressed in traditional clothing of the time. Been there a fee times and food is always solid
Food was good better to make reservations. It gets crowded quick I went on Saturday and the line was long. Glad my sister made reservations
If you like Belgium Beers. This is THE spot. Awesome selection. Rotating drafts. The bartender, Benny, is great at what he does. Excellent service, great atmosphere. O, and the food is great also. Can't say enough about this place. Ssshhh! WiFi sucks. Stay away.
Awesome delicious food with a really cool colonial vibe. Loved it.
Quaint colonial era tavern in old town new castle. Great food, wine and beer. The hot toddy was good too. I'll come back the next time I'm in the area.
Amazing atmosphere. Good service and food.
Great Belgian beer list!
Great atmosphere and great food!
Excellent food with a homey feel.
Excellent food and service; you should visit here when in New Castle.
Great food, great atmosphere, nice staff,. Have to visit
Great ambiance, good-sized portions, and if you like Belgian-style beers, this is the Tavern to visit!
Good food ,friendly service and lots and lots of beer.
Good food. Great beer selection. Colonial style tavern is authentic. Friendly service.
Cool atmosphere Good food
I just pickup crab cakes for my lunch, the girl told me that it just came out from the kitchen. I had a 8 min. drive back, when I open to eat the potatoes and the crab cake they were cold. Consistency is needed! We eat at Jessops several times a year. Nice ambience, friendly, good service, and the food ...may be VERY good, or so-so. Even the same item, from one visit to the next, varies. It's disappointing to order and find it's not a good day for the kitchen, for that item. Tell me how to avoid their "off" times and we'll visit more often!
A quaint, historic tavern located in historic Old New Castle. Colonial fare with period furnishings and decor complete with staff dressed in clothing specific to the 1700's. If you're in the mood for a "meat and potatoes" type of meal (think Pot Roast and Shepherd's Pie), this is definitely your place! As it's in the heart of Old New Castle, it's situated in the perfect spot for taking a stroll through the town or Battery Park. A great date night option!
Quaint, excellent service, great experience!
The atmosphere is novel and the food is delicious. Beer selection is incredible, too
Jessops is a great place to eat and drink. The service is quick and the staff is very friendly. Food is phenomenal! I highly recommend Jessops if your looking a for a tasty beer or good bite.
Cute place. Glad we stopped by. We came at a weird time (4pm) so they seemed a little caught off guard, but no problem. The bartender served us (we were at a table) and she was friendly and did a good job serving us while juggling her bar patrons... Which increased in number as we got later and later. Fish and chips were really good... Well the fish was... Potatoes were potatoes, wish I had more. My wife got the pot roast and it was amazing and a huge portion. Apparently they have ice cream too... We very well may stop by this neighborhood again on our way through. The tavern would be one of our stops.
Great beer list, good food and you will always meet someone new. If you are anywhere near Old New Castle stop by.
Food is good though on the pricey side for what it is. Good beer selection, be careful if you fill a growler you will pay hefty sum. Atmosphere is great, it like stepping into colonial America. Overall it's worth the stop if you're in the area.
Very good food and very unique atmosphere.
Cute little colonial place. Had an awesome salad with grilled chicken on top. Adorable historical spot in Old New Castle..
Best belgian selection ever. Best pot pie ever (beef and ale) . Great colonial atmosphere with period dress and pewter plates. I wish I had four hands so I could give it 4 thumbs up!
Love it here! Good food served by period dressed waiters! It's good for lunch or dinner and they have a good selection of beer! Take mom and treat her to a relaxing good time!
Fantastic food and beer selection. Reasonable price too!
Went for lunch after church with my oldest brother ( a chef), and elderly mother. I only got a seafood medley soup and was upset I couldn't eat it because I was feeling ill. It was excellent however. My brother got the "3 time award winning" fish and chips. He said it was the best fish and chips he ever had; the chips were huge (quarter of a potato) and cooked perfectly. The batter on the fish was delicious and the fish was light and flakey. My mother thoroughly enjoyed her meal as well. (I forget what she ordered)
Excellent service and atmosphere coupled with a truly impressive choice of Belgian brews. Portions were large enough that I didn't have room for ice cream (Lingonberry!) Stopped in for lunch and I will definitely be returning to sample the dinner menu. Absolutely worth checking this little gem out.
Awesome every visit...
A fantastic dinner experience! If I lived closer, I would visit this restaurant frequently. The server was probably and very attentive, the food was delicious, hot and served timely, and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant made for a relaxed dinner experience. There were eight people in our dinner group this night and everybody enjoyed their dinner. We ordered a mix of steak, seafood as well as some other specials on the menu. The hot crab dip appetizer was especially delicious. Those that partook in adult libations, also enjoyed their drinks very much. Go here!
Meh. Not what expected based on other reviews. The food didn’t seem much better than what you find at any national chain (chili’s, outback, Applebee’s). The atmosphere is cool but didn’t make up for the food. Great beer selection
We visited Jessop's on Sunday afternoon to celebrate my birthday and were very disappointed. I have eaten there twice before and was very pleased. However on Sunday, we waited almost an hour for our appetizer and lunch! There was only one other occupied table when we arrived, so it wasn't busy. When we first asked what was taking so long, the waitress said "the kitchen printer is slow"! The third time we asked, the waitress returned from the kitchen and "I don't have good news for you. I don't have any idea when your food will be out"!. At that point my son asked for the check. The waitress was very rude from that point on! She didn't say a word when she slammed down the check, picked it back up with the credit card, and returned for my son's signature. No apology, no explanation for her rudeness and bad attitude (as if we had done something wrong!). No manager came out to offer an apology or explanation. It was ridiculous. Won't return and chance this treatment again.
Food and staff are awesome- unparalleled atmosphere, authentic period food from the 1700's as well as staff dressed to the period, it's been there since 1774 and is considered one of, if not the oldest tavern in America!!!
Fantastic meal! Creative, flavorful, and our server could not have been more pleasant
Love this place. Bartenders are top notch.
Outstanding lunch for a history nerd! Neat colonial atmosphere. Fish & Chips were very tasty.
Very cool place, try the shepards pie. The fish and chips were a bit soggy but good
Met friends for lunch. Food was delicious. Service was great!
Five stars for the ambience 3 stars for the food and a 1 star for the service. I have been to Jessop's several times but this last one may have ended it. First the food it was ok, other than the specials it hasn't changed in years except for the quality which has gone down. Example is what used to be my favorite appetizer the smorgasbord. It used to be huge several different link sausages and 4 or 5 different cheeses, apples and grapes. Now it's 2 skewers with small pieces of kielbasa a few slices of salami with a couple cheeses a dab of jam and strawberry slices. Big let down. They do have huge beer selection I settled on a cider that was delicious. 20 minutes after I finished it our waiter finally came back to ask if I needed anything, we all needed drinks. When he returned 20 minutes after that it was to tell me they were out. Ok so I just ordered a Jamison. That took another 10 minutes and by then I was completely done eating my meal. They had a small band that was nice.
Love the chicken pot pie
Food is awesome. Service is great!
Very good food (best potpie I ever had), extensive selection of beer, and impressive service. The day I visited they suffered a power outage less than an hour before my reservation, and yet they still delivered frankly-excellent service and were very accommodating. Definitely worth a visit if in Old New Castle, as Jessop's is a hidden gem
My chicken breast sandwich was delicious as were the sweet potatoe fries!
Jessop's Tavern is a New Castle institution, and is the best of a limited number of restaurants in this small town. The building has been used continuously as a tavern for more than 100 years, and has a great deal of "genuine" atmosphere — you can't buy this sort of vibe; it has to evolve. Their food and service are consistently good, and they claim to have the biggest selection of Belgian beers — many on tap — in the state of Delaware. My favorite is Gulden Draak, but be warned, it's 10.5% ABV, and can sneak up on you. I have been ordering the fish & chips for more than a decade, and it has been consistently good (if not healthy).
First visit. Three of us. Crab Dip appetizer was good. Could have had a few more veggies. The fish and chips were good, crispy covering of golden batter with hot flaky white fish. The meat loaf was just OK along with garlic butter green beans. The shepherds pie was horrible. It arrived as a large mountain plateau covered with dark brown gravy resembling a dead volcano. The base covered the plate although a cube in shape approximately 5"×5"×5". I thought it might be a joke. As I dug in I found a soft tastless whipped potatoes and across the middle was a layer of ground beef with more gravy. I was hungry and it was late so i struggled to eat some. This was the worste I have ever had. My brother shared some of his fish with me. A while later as I wake I the middle of the night for my routine visit of relief, I found myself limping with a swollen knee. I am allergic to MSG. The only thing I can think of having enough to effect me must have been the gravy. GRAVY FROM A CAN??? Now I wonder ,potatoes from a box?? Over all we won't be back for a while. Nice atmosphere. Over priced for what you get. Don't order shepherd pie. $66 for three basic entrees and one appetizer with water.
We weren't disappointed. The staff was very pleasant and attentive. The food was outstanding from the salad to the main course! We'll definitely come back!
Love it here! Good food served by period dressed waiters! It's good for lunch or dinner and they have a good selection of beer! Take mom and treat her to a relaxing good time!
Love Jessops Tavern! Great Belgian beer choices. Food is awesome. Service is great!
Great historic vibe, awesome beer selection, great food and lovely owner. Nice find!
Good food, nice atmosphere
Outstanding. We loved the atmosphere and the food! The staff was friendly and attentive! Try the Sheppard's Pie or the duck! Both were delicious! Highly recommended!
Wonderful and cosy traditional Pub! Great food, Belgian beers, friendly staff.
Busy place within a historical building. Service was comparable to other sit in establishments in the area. Parking can be tough.
Love this place! Perfect place to feel like your in colonial times especially with the staff dressed in colonial outfits. Food is great and it is in the heart of the Old New Castle. Lots of museums, history and shops.

Fantastic beers and great service and atmosphere
Very friendly staff, got my party of 9 seated quickly, and the food was delicious with huge portions. Great variety of dishes to choose from.
I Have not been to Jessop's in about 2 years. I made 3 visits and each time I felt like I was an inconvenience to the staff. One visit was about a half an hour before closing and we had to insist on being seated. The food is good and I love the atmosphere, but the service is not up to par. I dine with a disabled friend and I honestly feel that is why we are treated poorly. Too bad, because it's a nice place to go on a cold winter night.
Phenomenal food. Sheppards pie that looks like decadent chocolate cake but tastes better. The duck was also amazing. Peach cobbler is no slouch either. Been there two nights in a row, hope to make it 3 while I'm in the area.
Delicious food and drinks, great atmosphere, and fantastic service. The variety of beers and drinks available was incredible!
