REVIEWS OF Green Room IN Delaware

Sara Wuillermin

Came here with my best friend for their weekend tea service and had a lovely time. The room is stunning, which really set the tone for the experience! I admit when they first served us our sandwiches and cakes I didn't think it'd be enough to be filling, but I was definitely wrong! By the end, we both were totally full. Everything was tasty, and our server was attentive. I definitely would go again.

Ela Ramey

Nice place and food was very delicious, I had an wonderful experience here with my best friend. We used to go this place daily and the services overhere were extremely fast and astonishing.

Peter Aastad

The Green Room at the Hotel Dupont is a world class restaurant. Four star restaurant.

Carla Nealy

I went for tea. The savory treats were filling, but not colorful. The sweet treats were very limited in taste, color and texture.

Candace Roseo

Always amazing! Excellent Happy hour at the Lobby Bar as well

Andrew Corbett

Iconic Wilmington restaurant. Best in town!

Sadik Macayah

Very tasty, but a bit overpriced and the service could have been better

A great place for any special occasion or for fine dinning. We had dinner and breakfast here and it was great food and service.

My wife and I went to the green room for afternoon tea. I wish I could give the experience 4.5 stars. It was wonderful, but just shy of a perfect afternoon. What it lacked in some areas of customer service it made up for with it's delicious tea and scrumptious sandwiches.

If you're interested in going, make sure not to trust the dining reservation website. I did, and it said it was booked solid for days before and after when I wanted. I looked, and they had a room special that guaranteed reservations (At an outrageous price, but I was that desperate to take someone there). When I checked in, I got a letter and my voucher that claimed we would get a "TASTING" which sent my invitee into a tizzy. She was looking forward to what the website and my confirmation said... 4 courses from the menu. Turned out when we got there for the mandatory 8pm seating (I guess they put you in before they close) they were ok with the regular menu. We got there to only about 4 other tables occupied, it was pretty much E-M-P-T-Y. We had 2 different servers asking us if we wanted water/drinks/etc and offering to take our order which was a bit confusing. My own fault, the chair was clearly broken as soon as I sat down, but as not to embarass my date I dealt with it the entire meal. During the meal we noticed a mouse running around. Before we could tell someone about it we noticed another couple following its movement and reported it to a server. He seemed to go "oh my" and then offered to take their picture. A manager came around and asked us how things were, and seemed to say "Good, Good" and leave after we also mentioned the mouse. When it came time for dessert, we were told that it was too late for the tableside Bananas Foster which she had really wanted. Hotel itself was nice, but never going to go there again (Value wasn't there with the room package either).

Rick Hendershot

Very clean and great service but they are overpriced for what you get. Small portions but the food was good. I left still hungry and stopped on the way home to get a cheese steak.

Ian Crowley

Perfect ambience for anniversary dinner. Treated like royalty, food as spot on, and prices were surprisingly decent for everything. Would definitely recommend and will be going back.

Atoya Tyree

Great food, Lots of menu options and great service

Desirae Krotzer

A place to bring a date for dinner, or a friend for breakfast. The building alone is gorgeous. They also do tea time.

Jasmine Rosario

My hubby and I visited The Green Room for afternoon tea and boy was it an experience! It was $24 per person for "afternoon tea service" and that included a pot of tea each, an assortment of tea cookies (4 types, 1 small cookie each), dainty tea sandwiches (a curry chicken salad, an egg sandwich, and a classic cucumber and cream cheese on a caraway seed bread, one 2 inch square per person), and small delicious scones (one was a current scone, the other was an apricot, the spreads were some kind of cream spread, lemon curd, and strawberry jam). It was absolutely delicious, the service was a delight, and the atmosphere was amazing! Of course the only downside is what is included in the $24 price tag- a total of 4 tea cookies, 3 tiny tea sandwiches, 1 scone, 1 pot of tea. I have had tea service before and I suppose this is to be expected, but this was the only downside for me. I definitely recommend this with friends or for a special occasion!!!

Absurd prices combined with mediocre quality food ='S one of the worse places for lunch or dinner while in Wilmington. Even a pizza provides a better meal than this place

Rick Creveling

One of a kind. Awesome.

Although I have enjoyed brunch at the Green Room in the past, I was quite disappointed on Easter 2019. In the past the Easter brunch was three times the size in the food selection offered but now has been scaled way back. The carving stations and omelette stations have been eliminated in favor of ordering your entree from the menu. However $85 for an omelette is extremely expensive. In addition to the over priced brunch, the ambiance was diminished by the fact that the staff spent more than 20 minutes dragging tables and chairs around the dining room totally oblivious to the needs of dining guest. Whereas I have always enjoyed the Green Room, I would suggest the Rittenhouse for a better brunch alternative.

We love going here for a romantic dinner. Everything is always on point. The filet, crab bisque, macaroons and chef's peanut butter dessert was delicious!

Carlos Vieira

Perfect spot for a Sunday brunch celebration - very good and plentiful food, complimentary glass of champagne and live piano player - great atmosphere.

Renata Kowalczyk

Always an amazing experience at the Green Room at Hotel DuPont. Great wine selection, wonderfully creative food and excellent service. Live piano music provides an additional touch of elegance. This is a special place for special occasions. The room is breathtaking! It’s a must visit spot when you are in Wilmington.

Nat Rom

Went here on a date. Loved the atmosphere. The piano player was a great touch. The food was also good and good portion size not too much or too little just right. Our waiter was also lovely. Had a great evening!

Barbara Thompson

I recently had a dinner date here and it far exceeded my expectations.

My wife and I went to the Green Room to celebrate our 2nd anniversary. Our expectations were high as the reviews for it are very high. And they did not disappoint. We enjoyed the entire experience from the greeting at the door, to the reserved table, and the pampering that we received was second to none. The food was fantastic and I completely recommend this place for any big dinner that you may have coming up in the near future.

Santhosh Kumar Balachandran

My fiancé' proposed on our 1 year anniversary here, the décor was beautiful and the food amazing. It was very quaint and the music lovely. What a special memory. The service was great, you cannot go wrong here. Love it!!!

Jeanette Oswald

Staff is so attentive.

Abbi Warren

We had Sunday brunch, and it was a wonderful experience.

Jason Coffin

Way over priced for things that are not that good. Also specify what specific kind of alcohol you want with drinks or they will charge you $28 for a vodka seltzer lime.

Jone Carter

Excellent place for excellent people you gonna love this place if you love to eat delicious.

Dortha Reed

This review for 4 stars is due to the terrific service. Both my friend and I ordered the lobster roll ($20.00) which was a reasonable price. The lobster salad had onion in it and overpowered the lobster. We felt that the food was average. The bottle of wine we ordered was not available so the sommelier suggested another bottle that we didn't feel was as good as the one we originally ordered. Valet parking is $20.00 plus tips. Garage parking was $14.00

John Paoletti

Great service and atmosphere here!!!

M Eachus

Food was great.

Kevin G A Melloy

Very tasteful elegant spot

Slow service on a Friday night. We had reservations and we where staying overnight at the hotel. Seated quickly and waited and waited. Almost left until a waiter came over and asked if we were being helped. Finally our drink order was placed. Dinner was just as slow. Would not go back. I don't expect fast food service, but at least pay attention to us.

The main entrees were misses in terms preparation. Very surprising. The snapper with lobster meat and sauce was not the highlight by any definition. Fish was tough and not tender as expected. Bone-in pork chop lacked flavoe. Appetizers were a different story. They were delightful. In January of 2019, we dined here and we're very impressed with the food. So what happened?

Overpriced - this is a fancy atmosphere with food that does not come close to the price it's offered for. The food is decent but about what you'd pay half of for comparable food in many restaurants

Had a breakfast meeting for about 8. Guests from Europe and New York, all well-traveled, but their first visit to Wilmington. Magnificent experience for them. The breakfast menu is extensive, the magnificently elegant room, and very good service makes this a delightful way to start ones business (or personal) day

Excellent crab cake, atmosphere and service!

Excellent as always. A great wine and great wine recommendation from the staff. Each dish was excellent with non competing flavors.

This is a beautiful restaurant in the DuPont Hotel. It was decorated very nice for Christmas. We walked around and visited all the various rooms they had for dining and they were all beautiful. We had a buffet lunch, however the food was cold and I was not pleased with that. The food tasted great but still it was cold.

Julie Jackson

Wonderful food, service and surroundings. If I could afford it, I'd just live here in the Hotel DuPont.

Russell Lalli

Good spot for my recent business lunch. The large room allowed for individual conversations and large windows brought lots of natural light to the formal decor. My scallop entree was a proper-sized portion, well-presented on the plate and tasted very good.

Unless you're used to fine dining, this is certainly a treat to reward someone with. Excellent service, beautiful ambiance, and really impressive food with French inspirations. Good view of Rodney Square (so watching the Christmas parade here would be a good option). Price is not a bargain, but again, this is a treat rather than my everyday lunch spot.

Gaming Palz

One of the most overrated and over priced restaurants I've been to - was there for lunch and it was definitely not impressed

If you are looking for outstanding classic continental cuisine in an elegant setting, look no further. The Green Room at the Hotel DuPont was the perfect place to celebrate the holidays with dear friends. The device was attending without being intrusive and the menu choices were varied (and the chef will accommodate any dietary needs). Everyone at the table commented on the delicious food. I thought the sashimi quality tuna was cooked to perfection, and the accompanying salad was so tasty. The honey-brie en croute dessert may have been the best dessert EVER (the candied figs and rosemary walnuts were out of this world delicious). What a delightful night out!

Must have been an "off" night. No fish of the day, no scallops, no Moscato. Really? It was a Wednesday night!

James Schwaber

My wife and I enjoyed our tradition of a seasonal dinner out last night at the Green Room and were absolutely delighted. Being as picky as possible, I can't find anything to pick. The presentation and quality of each course was an experience of surprise and delight, and the environment and service could not have been better. The wine list was extensive with a wide range of costs with many excellent small vineyard choices. Plus what fun to be at the very lively Hotel DuPont with all the seasonal activity.

Mike Cavazzini

Excellent service, great food. The duck cooked perfectly as were the steaks and crab cakes.

A lovely meal. Only the Prix Fixe menu was available which was disappointing. Would have wanted to know that in advance. There were 5 entrees to choose from, we both selected the beef filet. I was really looking forward to trying the crab cake and the seared scallops entree... the filet was excellent, the glaze was tangy & made the meal. The prix fixe menu included dessert, it was strawberry shortcake. The strawberry was good, but the shortcake was not worth the calories. Service was great until more diners arrived, then it became quite slow. Still, very glad we went, will need to inquire about a full menu night to actually try the variety.

I have had lunch and breakfast here on several occasions. The dining room is marvelous with old world charm. The service is excellent and only topped by the food itself. You cannot go wrong with anything, it's all made well as it should be for the price you pay

Steps you back intoo the decadence of an era long gone by. The Green Room is lavishly furnished and upholstered. The menu is relatively simple but very well executed. Steaks are prepared precisely to order and use high quality cuts of meat. Not highly recommended of there's anyone vegetarian or vegan in your group due to a limited serif options, but the kitchen should be able to accommodate most reasonable requests. Great for a fancy date night, big occasions and business dinners.

I was able to impress my guest from NYC. We had brunch in a Saturday morning. Buffet is great. I would personally recommend something from the menu. They have many standard breakfast and drink options.

From 4 1/2 ⭐ to 3. My earlier review has an update. I don't know what's happening in the kitchen, but my last visit there (2 weeks ago) was a huge step down from what we've come to expect at the Green Room. The service was as it always is-excellent. My appetizer was fabulous--foie gras with chocolate bread(!) and pickled cherries. Completely unique and delicious. Then the entrees came and it was a precipitous downhill from there. Nobody's entree had the elegance and refinement we've come to expect. One companion's steak dinner was passable. The fish special was the greatest disappointment. The fish was dry and the lobster stuffing was so wanting for lobster, I had to go on a scavenger hunt for it. When I did find it, it didn't matter because it was seasoned so aggressively I couldn't taste it anyway. The texture of the stuffing was wet and gloppy and unappetizing. The plating was what one would expect from a diner, not the Green Room. I really wanted to kick myself for not sending it back. This week, we had a cousin from out of town staying at the hotel who wanted to meet us for dinner. Normally, that would've been a no-brainer. But we had such a sub-par meal the week before, we opted to make a reservation somewhere else close by. While at the other restaurant, I ran into someone who had just been at the hotel for a cocktail party event. It was supposed to be heavy hors d'oeuvres, but she said there wasn't enough food and it wasn't particularly good. She came to the restaurant I was at because she was so dissatisfied. It brings me no pleasure writing such a negative review, especially for the Green Room. I want to be able to brag about my hometown hotel with its beautiful decor and delicious, elegant food. Something's happening in the kitchen and it's not good. Wilmington is starting to get some first rate restaurants, and my fear is if the Green Room doesn't improve things soon, it will lose it's place among them. 4 1/2 ⭐. Lovely food, terrific service, unbeatable atmosphere. A wonderful night out.

Beautiful ambiance and wonderful food! They were busy for the holidays but the service was still good.

This review is specifically for the mother's day brunch. We went this year (2019) like we have for the last 3 or 4 years, and we were horrified by the changes they made. Last year (2018) was incredible, the buffet was so grand, the food was all fresh and beautiful, they even had a special station for mons to get a massage and make bath salts. I looked forward to going again all year! This year the buffet was gone, except for appetizers, it took them 45 mins to get our food, which was somehow both cold and raw, sent it back. No special station for moms, everything was subpar and then to add insult to injury they raised the price. What a disaster, I'm devastated, they ruined my special day and my poor husband felt so bad even though he did nothing wrong. Never again, never ever again.

My boyfriend set up a reservation to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. Having it at the Green Room was especially one of the most important details of our anniversary because we met at the Hotel DuPont. So when we placed our reservation for January 30th 2018 on November 3rd 2017 we thought we were ahead of the game. But 2 days ago I get a call from a young lady telling us we had to change the date of our reservation because they were hosting a private party that night. Now I know this restaurant doesn't get many reservations as it is, so WHY couldn't they make that dinner for another night? The young lady offered us to eat in their cafe with the Green Room menu.. that was very insulting we are not going to spend over $100 on a nice meal to eat in there crappy cafe. Management didn't seem to care about anything. Never coming back that place is slowly dying there's a reason the DuPonts didn't want it anymore.
