This is one of two Chinese food restaurants in the city of green river. Neither of them is any good. China garden is way over priced and the food is not good at all. I ate the twice in 4 years. First time I didn't know any better second time my then girlfriend, really wanted some Chinese food. Both times I was very disappointed.

Some of the best Chinese I’ve had! Delicious Vegetable Pad Thai but could be much sweeter and more noodles. Had the fried bean curd with mixed vegetables and garlic sauce. The sauce was delicious! Friendly people and open late. Would come here again. They give you these chips that are delicious. However I think they got confused with my order as the chow Mein had no noodles in it?

Very nice little Chinese-American restaurant with a lovely little bar, pool tables, and a couple of TV's. Our waitress was phenomenal, which really made our dinner even better. The soups are WONDERFUL, but the lemon chicken seemed a bit... lacking. The sauce was neither lemony nor sweet. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't lemon chicken. Next time, I'll just get a large soup and leave happy lol

I went there when I was trying a gluten free diet. Being a vegetarian, gluten free can be difficult at times. The manager asked me about my diet and what types of food I liked, and then made me something that was meat and gluten free, and also suitable for a diabetic. You would expect that that combination would be bad, but she brought out a curried tofu dish that was outstanding. Every time I go there I am very satisfied with the food.

Food was what you would expect for a small town restaurant. My daughter and I were traveling through, she ordered the snow cod and I the broccoli beef. She ordered the cod off the dieters menu thinking it would be pan fried without breading. That was not the case and the waitress was very accommodating and brought her cod with no breading. Overall a very pleasant experience.

The owner cares about what she is serving you, we had a take out option and the food was piping hot when we got it home. Meat was cooked perfect and the combination servings were large. We have eaten here a few times over the years and the owner takes a lot of pride in her work. This is the best Chinese restaurant in the Bangor area and highly underrated, I would recommend it.

What can I say. Staying in Green River and not going out to eat at the China Garden is just wrong. Especially if you like Chinese food. The service goes above and beyond the only thing better is their food. They also serve drinks and have a pool table on one side.

My boyfriend and I recently ordered from them. We got the #1 and #18 for about $25 which we thought was a great deal. Unfortunately this was not the case. The ribs were rubbery to the touch, we weren’t even sure they were cooked. I ordered beef chow Mein and got beef lo Mein instead, which wouldn’t have been a problem had the beef not been rubbery and an unsavory color. My boyfriend took a bite out of the crab Rangoon and was immediately gagging. The rice was dry and my egg role was sopping wet. Safe to say we threw it all out immediately after. I’m really hoping that this was just a bad day for the kitchen staff.

Service was ok. Prices are aligned with other restaurants around $10 per plate. Sodas are super flat and have a soapy film on top as if the cups have not been rinsed well. Crackers are stale. Fortune cookies or stale. Food taste old as well. I don't recommend this place to anyone.

The food isn't excellent, but it's a lot better than the year old reviews from whiny customers make it out to be. Come on, it's Americanized Chinese food, what did you expect? There's no msg used, which is good news for people with allergies to it. The decor isn't all that great, but it's better than some of the places in Bangor, (like No.1). And if you're going to order wine, don't. It's basically just an overpriced bottle of Sutter Home.

And lady told me i ways to far away from there 4 mile radius and keep telling me a had to order adleast order 40 or more for them to deliver it i live 4 miles from there location not even 10 mins from them i live on mann road right buy the interstate i order from china garden like every other week. And they have never had issue delivering before on top of every thing the lady is going to call me a liar and say they never have and never will. Because i was a racist i never said one word race oriented toward her. And my order was 30 dollars. I will not be ordering from this location ever again. I will not be talked down to by a establishment. I will no longer be recommended them anymore

Save yourself the time and just don't. I ordered online thru their website to same myself some time while I was on my way home from Bangor. When I got their to pick my order up the girl at the front informed me that their online ordering doesn't work anymore because the printer is broken.... So, fix your printer, or take online ordering off your website? So I re-ordered while there. After placing my order she told me to sit down. I told her I was going to browse IGA while I wait for my food (that should've been done already). She told me to make sure I don't spend all my money, I forced a laugh while walking outside. I go back and get my good and try eating it once I get home. I ordered the Pupu for 1, pork fried rice, and a small order or crab Rangoon. None of it tasted right. The crab rangoons were disgusting, not like any other I've had before. My pork fried rice had no pork in it and basically lacked any vegetables. All of the meat in the Pupu for 1 was very tough and chewy, the chicken didn't look or taste like chicken, and the spare ribs were the same. The best tasting thing that I got from this place was the fortune cookie, and I think that's because they aren't made there. I used to love eating here and could count on the food being delicious everytime. But after this order of mystery meat, I'm turned off from eating any Chinese food for awhile.

WOW - hardly ever ate at this restaurant when I grew up in Old Town, and boy did I miss out. Recently (for niece's graduation) took my family out here, and the owner must've seen something special about us because she asked if she could cook us a traditional Chinese meal and not an "Americanized" version. Annnnd yum! Was that a brilliant decision. Fresh, delicious scallion pancakes, ginger sauce, REAL pork fried rice, a lovely chicken dish... Probably best Chinese food I've had and this includes having eaten a meal at highly recommended restaurant in NYC Chinatown maybe two weeks prior. Don't miss, real gem in the rough in Central Maine.

BUT the consumer service is awful some of the worst I tell you I call in and a American answered which is strange for a Chinese place "PS not being racist" I tell him to make a delivery he can't because of where I live so I tell him to make a pickup order so then I got transfered to an Oriental man and he still didn't get my order then I spoke to an Oriental lady and after 23 minuints I finally made my order and got my food.

First - the food is awesome, delicious. A little expensive but worth it. I always get General Tso's chicken. Fresh, crisp, flavorful, filling. The down side though - the people working there have all the welcoming personality of a burned out gas station clerk. The restaurant itself feels cramped but whatever. The most important part though is the food and it is second only to expensive, fancy chinese restaurants.

Not sure why Chinese food is so expensive in Maine....or so predictably bad. MSG is a flavor enhancer, not nuclear waste: and this place needs all the help it can get. Food is flat and I waited almost 45 minutes in an empty restaurant for my order to go. Finally had to ask the woman to check on it. (She was busy sitting at a table drinking tea.) No rice? No sauce? Oh: and read these rave reviews carefully. They sound very much like they were written by someone whose first language is Chinese.

They deliver to the truck stops right off 465, MM4. Nice!! =) So what if you've gotta meet the delivery guy at the store front. I wouldn't want to drive around a big truck lot looking for a certain truck number to deliver to either. He calls you when he gets there so he'll keep an eye out for you by the fuel islands corner of the store. I must say, this is one of the best Chinese food places I've eaten at. Their portions are huge versus other places and the food is very flavorful, not bland at all. I ordered online thru their website (NOT thru the 3rd party ordering option their site also provides you with). It was 12:51 pm at the time of checkout when my order was placed. Their website showed an estimated delivery time of 1:44 pm, which I completely understand since it was during peak lunch times. The delivery guy was here with my complete order at 1:10 pm. Insanely fast!! I ordered $30 worth of food, so I could have leftovers. I had no idea just how large their portions were. I have a few pics attached showing the sizes. Everything was made fresh, with fresh ingredients and was delivered piping hot. The chicken teriyaki (listed in their appetizers) is the largest I've ever had. There's 4 per order. (I know the photo only shows 3..I was hungry, remember?) Crab Rangoon come 8 to an order and are very tasty. The chicken with broccoli lunch special came in a fully packed round dish that almost 2" deep. The empress chicken (chef's special) came in a rectangular dish about 8" long and again, almost 2" deep. Also came with a decent sized container of white sticky rice (..soooo good!) and a handful of fortune cookies, a well as different sauce packets, plates, forks & napkins. Holy smokes, this place really feeds you!! If I would've known the portions were so huge, I wouldn't have ordered so much. I will easily get 4 meals out of this. As far as other reviews mentioning rude customer service, I didn't experience any of that since I placed my order online. The delivery guy was quick, to the point and off he went. I didn't consider that as being rude, after all, he's got a job to do and other deliveries to make. I am looking forward to eating from this place again. Truck stop food gets old quick and it's nice to have a place like this that will deliver to truckers.

Christine food is the best around. Most important, it is consistently good, I have yet to have an off day or a wrong order. Too many time have I frequented a restaurant only to have the cook mess something up, maybe he was mad, sad, in turmoil, or maybe he was out and the other place had the janitor cooking. This time around, however, they were incredibly nice and pleasant. Also, it seems like the interior of the restaurant has been redone and it looks great. I don't even like reviewing places but felt like I had to in rebuttal to the person who said that the food is processed and frozen, It most certainly is NOT! It is really good authentic Chinese. It's not your typical American Chinese that you get in most places which is loaded with MSG, everything is cooked fresh and has really good flavor without the need of flavor enhancements. The owner will even cook you something special that's not on the menu if you... Give it a try, we have been there several times and have not been disappointed once.

This place is the worst Chinese food I ever had in my life, I ordered sesame chicken , the little bit of meat was not even breaded like normal seasame chicken, and mostly vegetables, I guess must of order sesame vegetables instead. This place is a HIDDEN GEM. It's also got its secrets. I'll explain. It's all about the owner, Christine. She's a vegetarian, and also very friendly. The trick to the real China Garden experience is to ask for Christine when your server comes to the table. Don't worry, they're used to it. Tell Christine you heard she makes great vegetarian food. Trust me, unless you can't live without meat for one meal, this is how you get the best food! She might offer to design a meal for you. Accept this offer! She might break out special vegetable that she's hiding in the back, it she might make some dish in the way they serve it in China, rather than the Chinese American style. I swear she adds extra spices she doesn't add if you don't ask her to come to your table. This might be the best Chinese food in Maine. OK, that's not saying much, but I grew up in Mass, and ate in Boston's China Town, and I still think it's great.
