Food is absolutely amazing. Fresh, full of flavors. Our server was equally amazing. Personable, friendly funny. 5 plus stars for 410 Bank st
Go for the apps. The apps are so worth it. Can’t say that I loved my entree. They do use a fair amount of seasoning on their food so be prepared for some “spicy” flavors. The Caesar salad, mushroom soup, and Baked brie apps are the best.
Great food and service. One of my favorite restaurants. My family always eats here when we are in Cape May.
One of my favorites of all time!
Awesome place. Great food, our waiter Don was awesome
Outstanding food and presentation!
Great restaurant ! Love it here. Would recommend.
Never ever disappointed. 7 stars easily
My husband picked this restaurant for our Wedding Anniversary. Our first real time in Cape May and it was a beautiful day to walk the quint shops, Victorian houses and view the ocean before out reservations. We were one of a few seated by very nice hostess and the atmosphere was cozy. Our server Jeff was extremely attentive, polite and took care to make our dining a wonderful experience. Never met the Chef but we will always talk about his cuisine as “A Food Heaven” ! Never have I had every course so delicious. Appetizer, Soup, Main Course and Dessert were just worth every bite! BYOB next time and can’t wait for another year will be back sooner!
An amazing dining experience, utterly wonderful food. A really interesting menu, great service, even better food.
The food is always terrific here. The atmosphere leaves something to be desired. The quaint old Victorian is overshadowed by the huge crowds they pack into the place, so it is really hard to notice much about the decor. The noise level matches the large crowd size. Service is good but always seems a bit rushed. You do have to go for the food though, among the best in Cape May.
Our annual dining highlight when visiting Cape May. Food is always excellent and the wait staff the most professional in the business anywhere. The bill will be high but you get what you pay for. We enjoy it so much we now visit the restaurant twice in the week we are here. The specials are always done well and make for a tough selection against the menu regulars. One of us always gets the 410 Steak, it is just that good. Dessert is always anticipated as a great ending.
I've been here several times, but hadn't been in a couple of years. In the past it had been a great experience but not the most recent time (Memorial Day Weekend of 2019). Despite confirming our reservation for 5 twice we were sat at a 4 person table with an extra seat added to the end where I was constantly bumped into by patrons and waitstaff. There was some issue with our entree where it wasn't served for 2 hours. When it was served it was obviously rushed (one of the prime ribs was unseasoned the other was overcooked), the dish that came with a lobster tail was served in two pieces (lobster tail was severed 20 min after the other entrees). Overall 3 of the 5 orders were sent back. After telling a friend about our disappointing experience at a place we had historically enjoyed they told us they have had bad experiences there recently as well. Not sure what changed maybe new ownership or the chef left (we were surprised he didn't come out when over half the dishes were sent back) or has removed himself from the day to day.
Excellent meal. I ordered the Jamaican Steak, which was flavorful, juicy, and tender. The steak rub was complemented wonderfully by the twin island sauce. My dad's red snapper was excellent. For dessert, we had a white chocolate mousse cake and key lime pie. Both were awesome. Our server was genial and extremely knowledgeable without seeming like a know-it-all.
Fine dining paired beautifully with a BYOB option! The service was amazing and the entire staff was friendly. 410 Bank Street is a great restaurant if you are looking for a delicious meal, and with the option of bringing your own wine it makes the dining experience a great value . Overall highly recommend dining at 410 Bank Street Restaurant and look forward to our next experience!
Do not waste your time here, they don’t deserve it. When we arrived for our reservation yesterday on time we were told to wait outside for a half hour, in the pouring rain. We, like others waiting, did not want to stand in the rain, and after an extremely unpleasant discussion with the hostess decided to leave. The manager, Marty, at one point was visibly irritated and raised her voice at the crowd saying “everybody outside, now.” As we were waiting outside for the car to come around, one of our party tripped on the wet stairs and fell hard on his back. No one from the restaurant apologized at any time. We’re still trying to contact the owner. PS. The stairs when wet are extremely slippery and are not looked after by restaurant to keep guests safe.
We were seated immediately at our reservation, a little early even, our waiter, Paul, was very attentive and our every need was taken care of! Lovely selection of entrees and specials, would definately recommend. We walked there-but the parking lot available to the restaurant was a little far, only downside if not walking.
Service great, food great
BYO. Excellent service. $$$$ but worth it. Good fish dishes. Menu was a bit limited but specials made up for the shortfall. Try the chocolate mousse cake.
Nice restaurant with excellent service, although a bit overpriced. And the kids menu is not a kids menu with shark on its menu.
Shane, our sever, was excellent in all respects. Friendly, knowledgeable about the evening's specials and the menu, as well as, keeping us informed as we went. We each had lobster bisque, which was quite tasty, and a special of the evening. She had a redfish dinner special and I the pork chop special. Both meals we perfect. For dessert we had the key lime pie and a wonderful white chocolate cake. We have had dinner here previously and tonight was as good as past visits. 410 Bank St. is always on our dinner list when we visit Cape May.
Never had Creole food before. Will be having it again. This place has a unique feel to it. You won't regret coming here.
We've had nothing but fantastic food and service here. 410 Bank st has become a destination of ours every time we visit Cape May.
We have been going to 410 Bank Street for years. We have always enjoyed a delicious meal and great service. We were there this past weekend for Cape May Restaurant Week. A very good deal, 3 courses for $35. Our server Dean provided excellent service and the Blackened Scallops and Seafood Gumbo were as good as always. It's also a BYOB making it even more affordable.
Great food, healthy portions
a blend of cajun and creole classics and innovative carribean-french-chinese. the new orleans dishes beat anything prepared in restaurants in new orleans. the rest of the menu excels in sheer creativity and powerful flavors. portions are huge. there are a dozen specials nightly, usually variations on seafood themes in distinctive sauces with often surprising combinations of ingredients
The food was absolutely delicious, sevice was great, atmosphere was relaxing. Can't wait to go back, thank you Paul
Was looking forward to the prime rib but was more of a huge steak not tender. Other than that very good but was severely disappointed in the prime rib at market price.
It was delicious. I went for restaurant week and everything was good, the appetizer, the entree and dessert. The portions were much bigger than I expected. The service was also great! Loved it!
A little disappointed that they put left overs in card board box had to through it out
I have been coming to Cape May ever since I was a little girl. I always remember the one night of the week that I was here with my family that my parents would go to their favorite restaurant, 410 Bank Street. Now that I am older, my sister and I got to go with them to their special dinner. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the service and how our food came out. We had a reservation but when we got to the restaurant, we still had to wait 15 minutes for our table. When we did get seated, our server got swept up talking to other people around us and did not come to our table at all. We waited for her to finish her conversation with the people next to us before she took our drink orders. When our main courses did finally come out, my sisters salmon was raw, my moms food was cold and my dads dinner came out 10 minutes later. You know the service is bad when you are deciding on whether you want dessert based on how long you think it is going to take to come out...but since it was so late already we did not think anything else was going to be open. When we got our check, our server then came to our table to talk to us but instead of asking how our dinner was, she was begging us to understand how slow she was and how it was her first holiday season. My whole family was uncomfortable and agreed that she was trying to make sure she got a good tip. My parents were devastated that their favorite restaurant was so disappointing that mom thought someone should know. When she called the restaurant telling them about our experience they seemed as overwhelmed as our waitress was. I do not think we will be dining with 410 Bank Street again.
It was good, but not worth the price. The waiter made us feel uncomfortable as well. He was just "off".
Rude. Overpriced.
410 Bank Street but the food is constant it's been there for years and it's not really family friendly because of their the menu but the food is unbelievable constant for years and one a few Awards
Always loved this place
THE FOOD WAS VERY GOOD, BUT THE FLAVORS TENDED TO BE EXOTIC, AND WAS TOO SPICY OR SALTY IN SOME CASES.
Very good food. Nice service, friendly and polite.
Food was okay but staff was unfriendly with no personality. It was a birthday celebration, very unaccomodating
Very charming typical Cape May
Pretentious stuffy staff with overpriced underwhelming food.
Was excited to visit a fine dining restaurant after hearing good reviews of the place. Reservation was made a night prior and make sure you do early cause this please gets filled up quickly. Staff were extraordinary and helpful. Appetizers and the bread were amazing! Got the oyster and lamb and it was mmm mm mmm. The soup and the entrees were a big disappointment! I got the gumbo and it was nothing like the Cajun style. The taste was meh and just want appealing at all. The seafood did not taste as fresh as the oyster did either. My husband ordered the shark since he wanted to know how that would taste. Wrong choice cause it was grilled far too long and tasted mostly charred. We did not expect much with the dessert but that helped boost the stars with the appetizers. I'm not sure if we just chose the wrong dishes or what but it was a disappointment for us.
Another Fine Dining Experience! !!!
I've come here for years. The food is always exceptional. Try the lobster bisque.
Overall a pretty poor experience. Extremely expensive for the relative value (I.e the food way under delivers) and the service was very poor (from both management and our “experienced” server. Ironically the only good part of the service was the bus staff). Perk: Parking is a block away and reimbursed. We arrived late for our reservation but they still sat us. Then both our server and management berated us for it THREE times. Sorry, am I here to serve you? The first words from our server were that he was “stressed” and didn’t have “time.” Had children with us and they wouldn’t allow us to order their food early because it would “disturb the flow of the kitchen” and all main courses had to come out together. I’ve literally never heard that in any restaurant ever (I mean ever). So let’s talk about their food. Typical poor quality food for the shore. Menu sounded like they wanted it be high end, especially for offering higher priced dishes. Admittedly the menu appeared to be pretty good. The delivery was far below their pompous self image. Plating was interesting and meets expectations. The quality was more average. Despite the shortcomings of the front of the house, this kitchen has a lot of potential. With some more attention to the quality the food would be much better. The front of the house is so pompous that if it weren’t for my guests I would have left moments after we sat down. It took hours for the server to shake his condescending attitude. Decided to give it 2 stars because there is potential here. Service was 1 (though support staff was actually quite good) and the food was 3 for quality (but like a 2 given the super high price tag)
The best meal we have had in Cape May. This place makes you feel so welcomed with its cozy, inviting entrance, soft decor and excellent staff. From the hostess to the waiters and waitresses, everyone is so courteous, attentive and so friendly. Our meal was worth every penny we paid from appetizers of scallops and fish medallions to chicken breast and mahi mahi. Dessert was eye popping and as delicious as it looked. Thank you to Gurgan (hope I spelled her name right) for making us feel well looked after. Next time in Cape May, we will be sure to come again.
Our dinner was outstanding. The chef made us a vegetarian meal. The presentation was beautiful, like something you would see in a magazine. It tasted as wonderful as it looked!
Phenomenal food—my favorite restaurant in Cape May. Try the scallops and key lime pie.
From start to finish, my experience at 410 Bank Street was exceptional. The service and the food was some of the best I’ve had in years. My visit was an event. I will return!
Clean and comfortable
Great food,staff and environment
Great service and food even on a very busy night. My wife thought her dinner was the best she had for years. Salmon. Mine was superb also. Byob also a plus.
A great taste of Byou Louisiana food
Great food!
Excellent service was personable and informative. Food was excellent. Well prepared, diverse cajun flavors.
Fantastic 5-star service with the quality to back it up. The food was perfect and there were no hitches at all with our experience. I would highly recommend.
Nice atmosphere. Very attentive service. Good food. Delicious, tasty original 120z. Steak!
The food and service was as always excellent. Unfortunately the hostess was rather rude, after 2 people complained about our grandsons. In the 20 years we’ve been going there we have never had a problem. We had three young children with us and people complained about the noise, however there was a table in back of us full of adults that was just as noisy if not noisier! We would never complain about another table. Why have a children’s menu if the children can’t be respectfully themselves.
Extremely busy... The food was magnificent... The wait staff was amazing especially our server...
Delicious
Wow! My first time here! Food was exceptional!
Do yourself a favor and make a reservation for dinner here. Better yet, request Eban as your server and you will certainly not be sorry. He is professional, friendly, polished and knowledge. The food is creative, flavorful and attractive, with portions that will not disappoint. Whatever is on special, order it! Don't forget to BYOB.
This was our second visit to 410. Both visits were during restaurant week. The food was amazing and the staff is friendly and attentive. My husband and I look forward to a return visit.
Great atmosphere and food. The portions are generous. Our waiter, Jeff, provided fantastic service.
it deserves it rep. great service with the summer help. nice walk to town, or wheather you are staying
Great food, lively ambience
Ahhh, warning the wine list sucks and it's BYOB so best to go to the wine store (which is super close by) and get something that doesn't taste like apple juice.
I came here as a kid, 15 or so years ago, the food has stayed consistantly delicious and it was exactly what I had hoped for when I returned!
Vastly overrated. Food mediocre at best. Staff (or management) unaccommodating. My steak--billed as a signature dish--was smothered in at least of cup of brown, sweet tasting gravy; mashed potatoes were cold. Staff refused to substitute a sliced baked potato for my guest even though the item was noted on another dish. The excuse: "The chef doesn't allow substitutes." You would think the chef was paying the bill. Dozens of far better places in Cape May.
If you like a restaurant that has fancy words on their menus, then okay. If you like your meal properly prepared, and management that is responsive, then avoid this place like the plague, In 20 years of dining in cape bay. This is the worst experience I have ever had, and at premium prices for sub-standard quality.
Had a fantastic experience here. First of all I'd like to say that our server (Joel, if I remember correctly) was phenomenal. Very professional, didn't rush us, etc. My wife and I are an interracial couple and sometimes we don't get the service we deserve especially at higher end places. I hate to say that but it certainly happens. That was not the case here at all. Moving on to the actual restaurant though - The restaurant itself is really cool. It's basically an old house turned upscale eatery right in the heart of NJ's southern tip, convenient from about Wildwood on south. You are able to BYOB for wine, or purchase a bottle there (which we did). It happened to be restaurant week during our visit and we had some special options. The shark medallions made for an excellent appetizer in an incredible sauce. My wife had the swordfish steak which was cooked perfectly and had a nice creamy, buttery champagne glaze. I had the Applewood smoked blackened prime rib, and got a portion much larger than I expected (but was QUITE delighted with) it was very tender and moist, and the flavor was amazing. I wish we had room for dessert, as the options sounded great. TL:DR? I would definitely go back here. The food and staff were well above par.
Everything on the menu is amazing.
I've been here a few times and am never disappointed in my meal. One of the best meals I've ever had! Get the scallops, they're amazing.
Over priced, poor service
Excellent food and service.
Excellent cajun style food
great food. everything is prepared meticulously.
Not worth it. The wine they sell by the bottle is the WORST Chardonnay I’ve ever tasted. Food took FOREVER to come out. Won’t go back that’s for sure.
Love dining at 410 bank street. Good food, nice atmosphere, great town.
RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE FOR OVERCOOKED FOOD
For 30 years
Not only was their dinner out of this world and hurting with flavor, but their brunch is beyond delicious! Staff was also not just friends but hilarious and very entertaining! Will be back again!
Restaurant Week in Cape May and 410 Bank Street is one of the best of many fine venues available for dining.
Had an amazing dining experience at 410 Bank Street last night! My bf and I ordered the New Orleans Surf & Turf as an appetizer and it was out of this world! The sauce was incredible & the filet mignon was flavorful & tender. We also had a lucky experience & found 2 Pearl's in one of the oysters! For dinner I ordered the Canyon Caught Altantic Swordfish. The portion size was large & the swordfish was cooked perfectly with a blackened crust & covered in a crabmeat champagne & mushroom cream sauce. This meal was one of the best Ive ever had! Our server was amazing! His name was Dean. He made sure we were always taken care of and comfortable & even shared some conversation with us through out our dinner experience. We were so full from dinner but the dessert chef Marty gave us a complimentary key lime pie slice. Best key lime pie ever! It was so thoughtful as we were there honoring the passing of my father from 1 year prior. Our server did such an amazing job creating a memorable night for us. We will be back for more meals and will definitely request Dean's section. This dining experience will go down as one of my most memorable nights and greatest meals!
wonderful restaurant in cape may. bring your own makes enjoyable evening. fodd is outstanding.
Staff and food were great! Loved the atmosphere!
Great place, reservation recommended it was jammed June 30, 2018! Service was tremendous. Eban and staff were on top of everything. BYOB
Arrived on time. Excited about our first time there. Daughter in from LA. We couldn't wait. Suddenly...lights out . Three other tables and ours...waiting for electric to return. While waiting..the other tables were served bread as we all chuckled and hoped to continue our stay. I asked our waiter if this ever occurred before and his reply was snidely" well...how long have you waited when its has happened to you."? Again.. no offer of bread...or anything FOR our time. At that point..we began checking other options. The food might be great and worth it .but the snooty servers make it angry food and an ambiance We can do without. We found a great place in Stone Harbor!!
Amazing food. Have loved everything I've had there. It is BYO, though they do sell bottles of local wine. There's a liquor store steps away so even that isn't a big deal.
I don’t know how this restaurant ever received anything other than a 5 star review. The food literally explodes with flavors that are unusual to this area. The waiter “Don” explained every ingredient in each dish we ordered. First time we went here and it was the best experience from apps to desert in a long long time. Highly recommend.
i was first brought here by the ceo of an international fishing company. do you love fish? then this is your mecca. love exotic wild flavors? this is your jerusalem. in japan this place would be a national shrine. except that the chef is chinese-french. portions are huge. there is more seafood in an appetizer here than in two whole dinners anywhere else. more like a private food lover club.
Very good food but VERY pricey. I thought the atmosphere would be more upscale based on the pricing, but it was under impressive.
Amazing sea Bass. Quaint little restaurant. The hostess was poorly trained and left a bad first impression by telling us to wait outside for our reserved table (20 minutes).
Had a nice dinner here to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. Although the restaurant was a little hectic due to July 4th holiday crowd, we enjoyed our Five Mushrooms appetizer, Blackened Prime Rib and Coconut Catfish all cooked in French Creole style. It is such a bonus to have a diverse cuisine with gourmet cooking that is rare even in metropolitan areas. A "must" place to dine for us in the historic district. Be sure to bring your favorite bottle of wine with you as they will help serve with no extra charge.
Ordered the lobster bisque and braised short ribs. The lobster bisque was clean, but almost short some depth. The braised short rib was fantastic. The pecan pie desert was also spot on with a cup of joe afterward. Almost needed a nap, need I say more... :)
Interesting and different dishes all very well prepared. Only disappointment is the limited wine selection which is all from one local winery.
Wonderful food. Service was a bit slow but it was worth the wait.
Delicious food.
Best service we received while in Cape May. Delicious lamb chops, lobster bisque, & portabello soup. Cute and romantic ambiance. Would definitely go back again someday.
We have been to 410 Bank Street several times before. Consistently, in the past, it has been very good. This time was an exception. Service was outstanding. Food was good, but not exceptional. Very long delay between appetizers and the entree -- perhaps 20 to 25 minutes. The waiter was powerless, he was unable to move the kitchen staff.
Visiting during restaurant week. Highly recommended by our B&B. Absolutely delicious from the first course to the last.
Place used to be great, not sure what happened. All the meat we ordered was well done when asked for medium rare.
I am sitting at the table as we speak (only have had the scallops appetizer) and it was probably one of the greatest things I have ever eaten in my life. I’ve heard about this place before but wow - how do you even make scallops like that?! Will be back every Cape May trip from now on!
Lovely Victorian Style restaurant. Its BYOB. Took my fiance here for our engagment dinner and had an amazing experience.
you couldn't pay be to patronize this place. rude staff and management; arrogant; bad natured; and while the food is good the menu hasn't changed in 20 years. not worth the trouble.
Great food. Flavors , textures everything on point . Loved the Mako shark in ginger sause appetizer.
