Stopped here because we were traveling to Connecticut and found a Groupon. Service was really good, food was excellent! I would highly recommend this place. We live 3 hours away but would definitely revisit when we're back in the area.

Better than average Indian restaurant in the New Haven area. Menu offers South Indian and Goan dishes in addition to North Indian standards. Nepali chicken momo on offer though I wish they had veggie momo! We ordered medium spicy and it could have been spicier. Manchurian veggies and Goan Fish Curry were standouts! For us, it was worth the trip from Hamden.

I am regular customer here. I really did not need to tell how awesome this restaurant is by giving review. I am just writing this down to address the few reviewers who wrote really bad reviews about this restaurant just because they were treated how they were supposed to be treated. If I were the staff of that restaurant, I would have kicked them out. Such a mannerless behavior and bad attitude. As I was there regular customer, I was sitting in my favorite seat. I saw about 11-12 people coming for dinner. They were acting so rude from the very beginning to their servers. Later I found out that they order some appetizers and they got what they ordered, but they decided to cancel. Until this point, server was quiet and did what they asked. But, I think they came with a aim to get free food and started abusing their sever by saying "do not show up to my table". Is that what you say to another human ? I think their parents never taught them any manner and how to act when you go to dine. Also they threatened server saying, "we will eat food and not pay". I do not know if you are that cheap, why don't you go some local restaurant. They were not satisfied abusing so they reviewed here as well. I am talking about those person who claimed that they came 11-12 person and one of them claimed as 15 person. If you are reading this, go wash your attitude cheapass and broke people. Learn to respect and you will get back. I hope they get kicked out from every restaurant.

This place serves scrumptious and variety of Indian and Nepalese cuisines. Dont go for negative reviews or you will miss out on a very great restaurant. Those reviews are most probably given by other rival Indian restaurant owners. If you serve good food, you dont have to degrade this low and make fake reviews on other restaurants.

The restaurant was very clean, the staff was very friendly, and the pricing was excellent. I went for the buffet, and while it wasn't the usual choice of the most common items you would see that other restaurants, they had a good overall selection of meats vegetables and other options that I didn't necessarily expect to find in a buffet. The nice thing was also that the buffet tasted fresh, if I hadn't gone up to get it myself from the various trays, I would not have known that the food have been prepared in advance. This would be a perfectly fine place to bring a family with young kids as well.

Rating made it to 3 stars only because of good service... food is mediocre and majority of them not seasoned well enough... keep salt Shaker nearby. There's not much variety, naan is very dry, mango lassee is sour and only plain rice is available. Below average Indian food, fails in comparison to other Indian restaurants.

I've tried several dishes now and they all were delicious. They also have their own flavor. Many Indian restaurants have the same flavor in the more popular dishes, you wonder if they are even prepared "in house". For example, I just tried their lamb curry. Darker in color than most restaurants in the area, awesome flavor. I could taste the difference immediately. I look forward to working my way around the menu.

Went here for the first time tonight and LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Super nice, cozy and clean restaurant, accommodating staff, authentic food and outstanding service. Our waiter was very helpful and gave us great recommendations on what to order. The food came out fast and was all super tasty. This is definitely going to be one of our go-to spots and if anyone is looking for delicious, authentic Indian food and a great dining experience...GO HERE! Oh and definitely order the Coconut Naan... You will not regret it.

My husband and I order from here at least three times a month (if not more) and hands down it’s the best restaurant in the area. The food is so fresh - amazingly fresh and fragrant. It just gets better and better also. We have tried other curry elsewhere and we just stopped. This is our go-to place - everywhere else pales in comparison.

This is a great little restaurant, run by some of the warmest, most attentive staff around. My wife and i go there almost ever Sunday for brunch, which saves us having to haul off to Middletown or New Haven. The food is always tasty, plentiful, and varied. I get tired of chicken tikka massala, so it's good to find a plenty of other dishes, such as chicken madras, chicken sag, and/or goat biryani, on offer.

Their hours say until 10pm. But if you drive 15m from your hotel and get there at 9:15, they will not let you eat there if they are slow, only to go food. Which makes no sense when there are 2 servers sitting around. Since I didn't want to drive back 15m before eating, I did not get to try what reviews say might be good food.

I ordered online thrue the BeyondMenu app for a delivery. It was very convenient for me as truck driver, they came right to me. Delivery by the way was free. As of for the food, it was amazing... that is the word for it. Chicken tikka masala is my favorite and it was just as i was expecting it to be. Been all over the US from Callifornia to Maine and this one is one of the best. Will be on my list, ones passing thru again, this will be my spot. Keep up the good work. Do not order Rice, it comes with the order of chicken tikka masala. I ended up with two rice, the regular and special one in a small package and boy it was delicious ( sorry I forgot the name of it ) it is made only i some parts of India...

I would give 0 stars if possible. - Immature staff, abrupt behavior with no work ethics & experience - Failed customer service - I have been to 1000s of restaurants from many cuisines, as far this was the most pathetic & horrible experience. - If you are looking for real Indian food this is the place to stay away by 1000 miles. I would really recommend you to drive another 10-15 mins and get some really delicious authentic Indian food with excellent customer service at - The Mumbai Times. Really hope that the owner of this restaurant sees this post and get to their staff and teach them how to behave and what a customer service really is!!

I love it, love it, love it. Ever since I first ate at this Indian buffet with my co-workers, I’ve fell in love with the complex flavors and aromas that completely turns my taste buds inside out and upside down. There were all these pretty assortments of colors that were waiting for me to try. They had Dal, Butter Chicken, Tandoori Chicken and some other staple dishes. I can’t wait to go back and try all the foods here :) The servers were very pleasant and the service was great.

I ordered a takeout : chicken madras, chicken vindaloo, 1 plain naan and 1 pershuari naan. Curries we're not good and both looked identical. Pale and full of cream. Vindaloo is a tangy, tamarind, tomato based curry - not a dry creamy dish. Naans we're soggy. Pershuari naan had very little filling. The last time I ordered a takeout wasn't good at all but because the location is convenient I gave it one more chance. Last time.

Delicious Indian food. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. I had the Saag Paneer, Naan, and a Chat appetizer. The staff was friendly. We mentioned at the beginning that we planned to order extra to take home and, expecting to remind them, were pleasantly surprised when they remembered at the end. They let us stay a little past their closing time and the owner even came out to chat with us for a bit. They seem to have a lunch buffet on the weekdays as well. I'm definitely going back.

The best Indian around by far. I am lucky enough to work right near the restaurant and get lunch weekly. The buffet is delicious and always fresh. Good mix of dishes with some tried and true always available. The family owned business shows and they are extremely attentive and caring of their guest. Highly recommend for great Indian food.

I live nearby, and tried it when it first opened. Each place puts its own spin on the dishes so I expected something different even though I get the same thing no matter where I am. Chicken curry, medium-hot, naan, and sometimes gulab jamun or khir for dessert. Most places I go offer a single gulab jamun or a taste of the khir as a freebie after dinner. Zaika hasn't yet offered it free (though in their defense, I haven't become a "regular" to the extent that I have been in other places, so it could be just that the other places give it to me free because they know me). The flavors were excellent, the naan could've had a little more ghee coating the surface, but that's more a personal preference and no reflection on the quality. Service is great, efficient and attentive. Ambiance also excellent, though I would be neglectful if I didn't criticize their P/A system for incoming phone calls. It was a momentary distraction. The curry sauce is chunky with really good pieces of tomato, richly flavored, not too spicy but with a proper "bite" to it, just a touch on the salty side. The chicken is moist and flavorful. I really like the chutney and the sweet sauce they bring out with it. Their gulab jamuns are more "well-done" than I'm used to, but they taste delicious in the simple syrup sauce. In all, I'm always satisfied with my meal when I visit Zaika and it's become my go-to not only because it's convenient, but also because of quality service and quality food.

Had buffet, was one of the worst Indian places. The food didn't taste like the Indian food. "Saag paneer" had no saag, tandoori chicken was tasteless and undercooked, the chicken in chicken Tikka masala was smelling bad, the rice in the kheer was not cooked, the sugar was not mixed in the kheer properly and there was no table cloth in a restaurant. Will never recommend it to anyone.

This fine restaurants gets 5 stars for warm welcoming attractive atmosphere, spotlessly clean, perfect service but the food is the real headliner it's outrageously delicious. Eight of us had a sumptuous dinner and the bill came to only $202. Our wonderful meal was very affordable. It included 2 Sea Hags and a red wine. We had plenty of take-home food. I had a vegetarian appetizer & main entree it was satisfying & delicious. I had enough to share with everyone. I wanted my family to taste how delicious vegetarian food can be. Two of us ordered vegetarian, everyone else had lamb and one shrimp. We were blown away. Even the one person who was reluctant to eat Indian spicy food. Raved at how delicious their lamb was and took home the left overs. This restaurant is a great place to dine with a large party or just the two of you enjoying a romantic evening. The staff service was perfect!
