Excellently seasoned, spiced, and balanced Indian food with diverse options. Their Naan and curries are some of the best I've had, and didn't suffer from overertly oily textures that often plague Indian food due to phase separation in the many dishes with high unsaturated fat content. Their waitstaff is very friendly and accommodating, and is very conscious of table and drink settings. The atmosphere is a bit quirky and colorful, but nice in its own way. If I could complain a little it would be over being served a spoiled/rancid IPA, but that is a common failure even in bars that claim to serve "craft beer".

One of my best friends from high school took me here this past weekend and I'm not one to normally write a review but I thought this place really deserved it. I have never had Indian food before, but not only was the food fantastic the staff was great. Even the owner had come up and asked us how our dinner was and everyone continued to check on us and make sure everything was perfect and topped off. They even surprised us with a port to sample at the end. Overall a really wonderful atmosphere and experience, I will be recommending this to my friends and family and definitely plan to return!

I had an buffet @Utsav before (in Wethersfield) so we thought to try this as it was near my home. While entering a restaurant itself we felt that we are at wrong place, but still we thought to give a try. Taste - Gross. Authentic indian food is never like that. It was not even 20% of that. Price - expensive for the quality and variety they offer. Staff - Ok, they never came to table to ask howz the food. They added 18% gratuity for the buffet. Gratuity should be charged for service and in buffet we serve ourselves. A big No to the Utsav @ Vernon.

Have dined here several times over the last few years. Lunch and dinner. Service ALWAYS exceptional. Food ALWAYS fresh & extremely full of authentic Indian flavor. Never a wait for anything. Always willing to explain any dish we're not familiar with and the traditional way it's consumed. On occasion they've even gone so far as providing complimentary dessert/drinks. Who does that anymore?? You will not be dissapointed!

Stopped on our way through due to reviews and was not disappointed. The mutter paneer was different than I'm used to but it was really good. They have vegetarian and meat options. The staff was extremely helpful just like the reviews suggested. If I lived closer I would definitely go often. Utsav never disappoints. I have try their lunch buffet and regular seat down dinner. I thought I didn't like Indian food until I ate here. Highly recommend the Lasuni Gobi appetizer and the eggplant appetizer. I haven't eaten anything here that has not been really good. The service staff is great and they are very attentive & friendly.

This has been a family favorite since they opened. The food is always excellent and the service is great! Whenever my daughter is home, it's the first place she wants to return to. They are very accommodating and will prepare your food as spicy or non-spicy as you like. If you love Indian food (or want to try it) it's a great place to go.

Had an amazing experience with a large group - I have always loved their food, but they outdid themselves for us when we hosted a birthday party there. Our service was outstanding, they accommodated split checks and even brought out celebratory port for us at the end. I highly recommend as a gathering space, family dinner or romantic dining experience.

I have been here for lunch and did not like the food and the hospitality of the restaurant. There were not many options for the Buffett and the taste was so blend that we could not even eat, be it entree or desert. I would not recommend this place if you are looking for good Indian cuisine.

“good taste but not value for money” when i entered, trust me, Americans have outnumbered Indian people and so was their noise so they were enjoying their food in true Indian color.. ;) long story short, food was good no doubt, but quantity was less and not value for money too. some prawn appetizer was there and it was finger licking (crushing) stuff.. mind blowing… rest all were good too. i am giving average only for money thing otherwise if you have enough then just go, don’t read my review... :P

Just went in for dinner late at night, and even though they don't do dining that late at night, their professional service didn't change. We were treated very well, they gave my friend and I some mango lassi to drink while we were waiting, even though only my friend ordered lassi. Then, we get home to the food, and the portions are generous. To top it off, they threw in an extra dessert for us with our meal. Very good place!

The food is great, good service and it's pretty consistent. I've been coming here for years and the prices have slowly gone up but the last increase in prices was very drastic and not in line with the type of establishment it is at all. The lamb dish that I love is now $32 which is unreasonable for what it is in my opinion. There are much more affordable and equally delicious establishments that will be earning more of my business in the future.

I didn't think I liked Indian food until I came here for the buffet with some friends. This has been my craving for weeks now. It's a little pricey but it's well worth it. I've tried so much of the menu and haven't disliked a single thing. I'm typically a "order the same thing every time" kind of girl but I love trying new dishes here because they never disappoint!! There's also a large vegetarian menu so I don't feel restricted to salads or other bland options. I can't speak highly enough of this restaurant.

My husband and I went to Utsav for date night to try something new for grub. We were not disappointed!! The restaurant is small but cozy and clean. It was very quiet and peaceful. The waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was absolutely incredible. Extremely fresh and flavorful. The portion sizes were great, easily leftovers for 2 more meals! I would highly recommend checking this little gem out!

Bad experience for a first time lunch buffet. The food at the buffet was cold and stale. Naan breads we asked for were stale n superdry as well and service was poor. Worst part being that we were charged a gratuity of a big percentage on our bill. This was the first place we paid a gratuity for a buffet service! Taste of all the food items was far from authentic. This is not what Indian food tastes like. We couldn't finish even the small amounts of the dishes we added to our plates. Costs were too high and too low

My family has eaten at Utsav over a dozen times and have ordered take out even more. Everything we have ordered has been delicious. We love going to their Sunday lunch buffet and my daughters try lots of new foods because there is always new offerings every week. My husband loves that they will prepare his meal as spicy as he likes. The service is friendly, fast and convenient. If I could, I would give them more stars then just five. Hint: If you order take out, it comes with rice pudding! It says to eat it cold but I like it warm better. When we eat at the restaurant, they warm it up for me!

Food was good but not worth the price you pay. Ambiance is good but not all the serving staffs are trained to be professionals. The waiter who attended us seemed a little rude and said we are blocking the way. He then took the appetizer plates and fork as soon as we ordered without even asking us. He kept watching us which felt like being stacked as he never smiled at us un-till we started to leave when he wished good night. I also kind of had a feeling that the treatment for Indians vs Americans may be different, reading others reviews could have influenced me. Other staffs were good, polite and well behaved, just that one guy spoiled it. Bottom line decent restaurant where you can go with a date and spend more money for Indian food.

The Naan was dried and when we asked for fresh naan, the manager said this time we don’t charge you but you have to order from the menu. The food was dried. It was a bad experience. So I’ll keep this realistic. When you walk in the ambiance is nice and colorful. But that’s it. These people are wayyyy too expensive for what they offer and for their quality. I personally think it was a rip off when I went last night. We ordered samosas and 2 stuffed naans the Total came out to $42. That’s insane. And I ordered a biryani (which was disgusting & smelled really bad) that was for $20 for a SMALL BOWL.... my mind was blown. If I go to any other desi restaurant, I could of bought a whole meal for 2-3 people with the amount I was charged here. They seriously charge people $9 for 2 samosas. Like wow. I won’t be returning here. And I think this restaurant is only for non desi people because nooo desi would pay $20 for 1 bowl of biryani lol.

Always a highlight of my visits home to see family: the weekday lunch buffet at Utsav. I can't tell you how much we look forward to it. If you happen to go on a day they're serving green beans, carrots, and shredded coconut as one of the buffet sides, consider yourself fortunate!

Utsav is without a doubt THE finest Indian food I've ever had. If I had to rate this restaurant's food and service on a scale of 1 - 10, I'd give it a 20. Seroiusly, this is by far the absolutely BEST Indian food you'll eat. The restaurant is beautifully and tastefully decorated, the wait staff was absolutely fantastic. I smiled and laughed my way through 2 hours of fine dining, eating a palate of sophisticated spice flavors and textures of Southern India''s best cooking...all in the little town of Vernon, CT. Well worth the drive, if you are looking for an unforgetable culinary experience!

To anyone ordering takeout via the menu Google has posted: The prices shown are not correct! The prices Google shows are WAY cheaper than what Utsav actually charges. My order via this menu came to 37.50. When my husband went to get the food, 56.00. I called to ask what happened and the guy answering the phone knew immediately what I was going to complain about. He said the prices via Google's page were wrong and that Utsav asked Google to correct the prices "many times" but Google apparently just ignores them. Funny that no one felt it was important to mention this while taking my order. I understand mistakes happen, but I feel like Google would make updates if asked. I also feel like if confusion like this happens routinely, it's disingenuous not to prevent your customers from making this mistake. Food is ok, but this situation really makes me never want to order from them again.

Fantastic customer service, very attentive staff. The food is excellent. Eating in, taking out, or the lunch/brunch buffets are all phenomenal.

Bad customer experience.. i never go back to this place again. i don't see good options in buffet then i decided to order from menu.. i ordered a drink mango lassi.. he got it quickly but with a junk of sugar... i felt like its a sugar syrup.. and they are arguing with me that mangos are sweet, they don't concern about what they served.. i ended up paying $5 for one sip of drink.

Utsav is an awesome hidden gem. Located in a small strip next to a halal food mart and nail salon, it is very easy to miss. Their food and service are both excellent, and I have never been disappointed by anything I have tried. Service is also incredibly fast. They are *not* open continuously throughout the day (lunch hours and dinner hours only) so check times before you go.

Service is okay. Ordered Padad and it was taken away before we were finished with it. Prices are high given the size and quality of the food. I am accomustomed to transitional Indian and this was not. Servers offer drinks and wait to take orders til guests are nearly through drinks.
