Had an excellent first time meal here on a Saturday night. Service was prompt and our food was served very quickly - drinks, appetizer, entree and dessert were finished in about an hour. We had the escargot, char, duck and side of mushrooms - everything was delicious! We cleaned our plates. Would definitely recommend for anyone seeking an expensive, tasty French meal.

Good food. Not much to say about it, except that it was a great experience I'm glad I tried it.

Santiago Enrique

Great food and service. We thoroughly enjoyed every detail of the restaurant. It is expensive, so start saving now. I still don't understand why expensive restaurants still have to overcharge you for side dishes, you're already paying a lot.

Amazing food but ruined by the service. I came here for restaurant week with my mother to stop by for a nice lunch on my day off. First off, sparkling water is an extra charge. The good old tactic of asking if you would like something without disclosing if it even has a price is used here. I got a scallop dish which was very good. As with shellfish, I encountered sand in the scallops, lots of sand that really ruined the texture of the dish when I would suddenly get crunching. I asked my waitress what could be done about it, but she gave me a scowl and treated me with contempt. She did bring out another plate of it, but acted like she was high and mighty... I just wanted to enjoy my scallops without particulate matter in it. I don't think I'll be heading back there anytime soon given the poor treatment from that particular waitress and the steep prices. If I were to treat myself to a nice dinner, I'd opt for Tarry Lodge personally with their exceptional service.

Consistently top notch. Great menu, beautifully prepared food, expertly trained staff and a wine list you would expect from a tier one establishment.

I felt a little underdressed not having a blazer on like most of the patrons. The place is very fancy and service is efficient (although the server was a bit lacking on knowledge regarding the cheese options). Some of the food items were terrific, others were mediocre. The atmosphere was a bit subdued and the lighting could use an upgrade. The building itself was quite nice and looked like a nostalgic remnant of the old days.

Very good food but also very pricey.

Enjoyed our posh lunch at this charming French restaurant! The Panini Provençal was huge as well as delicious! My husband’s chicken club was good. The bread was lovely. Our server was classy and capable and our food was served promptly. The setting was pretty and pleasing. The value was Appropriate for the fancy place that it was. I recommend it!

Delicious and beautiful restaurant! Loved the eggplant cappelletti

Located across from Yale University in the heart of New Haven’s entertainment district, Union League Cafe (formerly Robert Henry’s way back in the day) offers the charm of a Parisian brasserie. Attentive staff and service rule here. Of particular mention is their appetizer of Duck Leg Confit and their black sea bass with a wonderful fennel-inspired garnish.

Beautiful venue. The staff was attentive and genteel. Yummy food.

Marc Couture

Amazing food, and Morgans service was spectacular. I highly recommend this incredible eatery.

This is my favorite restaurant in Connecticut. The service is always impeccable, the ambiance is elegant and inviting, and the food leaves nothing to be desired. You might even have dreams about it. The wine list is extensive and exceptional (with a good representation from Alsace, which is important). If you want to impress someone, bring them here. If they aren't impressed, do NOT dine with them again.

Magnificent restaurant. When you want to have a special treat, this is worth your attention. Only in great French restaurants like this will I travel out of my palate box. Last time I had the quail and chanterelle dinner. It was sophisticated and delicious.

Sohrab Ismail-Beigi

Four stars because of price to performance ratio. The food here is very good and tasty, but pricey. It is French and yummy. The deserts, however, are by comparison disappointing compared to main dishes. I only go here if it is for work and someone else is paying.

Good food. Nice atmosphere. Good service. Historic site. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

Great food.. Great drinks.. But serve steak and no steak knife? Honestly ?? Wow

Katherine Ferranti

Stumbled in for lunch totally spur of the moment and were extremely glad we did. They have an absolutely fantastic price fix lunch that is an incredible value. And the service is fantastic as was the food. We're already planning a trip back.

Union League overlooks Yale, and is where they give you a “free” lunch when they want to be nice to you. Suit and tie, very professional, exceptional food and service. Politically correct, using as much local produce as possible. If you are in the Yale game, you will be lunched here. Relax, food and service are great, Yale pays. Enjoy. Five Stars!! The decor here is elegant and the food is delicious. I have been here for graduations, birthdays, and retirements. It is a wonderful treat!

Fancy restaurant, old fashioned, good quick service, good food, nice and quiet, on the darker side. The food is a mixed bag - some dishes good, like the mushroom side dish with the mains. The boar was a bit on the tough and dry side, but tasted good. Clams and mussels did not taste that good, but the shrimp were nice. Tiny amounts of cheese for the cheese selection, but loads of bread to go with it. Some of the bread is very good. The cheeses were nothing special, but not bad either. Seating on couches requires some squeezing in and it is annoying that some people have to get up for others to get to their seats. Some parts of the couch are tilted to the side, and the sitting on an angled surface gets uncomfortable. Toilet urinal none too clean, otherwise toilet ordinary, a bit dated.

A new haven staple. I love this place. You must eat here

Food was delicious and the staff is so nice. I have come here many times and have always had an amazing meal.

Amazing food and service. One of my favorite places!

Marcia Harkness

Lovely night out. Superb. I had the special, which was a white fish, fantastic.

Francis Wihbey

My girlfriend and I went there for a romantic birthday dinner for her. the staff could not do enough for us and was very accommodating, the food was great we had four different items and shared them. I highly recommend the restaurant and the wine list was extensive. We would certainly return thank you.

Haris Murad

Pricey, but great quality food. The sea bass is excellent. The service is impeccable.

Absolutely amazing. Every dish was impeccably prepared, and the service was top notch. Anyone looking for a memorable French restaurant in downtown New Haven should consider looking here first!!!

Extraordinary service and food. My dad, a restaurant aficionados, told me when I was young that a great restaurant made you happy and comfortable and satisfied. I thought of his comment when I my husband and I dined at Union League Cafe. …
