We have been to all of the Peruvian restaurants including Cora Coa, Piolin in Hartford, Piolin Jr on Main Street in East Hartford, Los Imperios in West Hartford and the new Piolin Jr on Burnside Ave and The Rockin Chicken is by far the best. The portions are huge, the quality is great, the restaurant is clean and the service is great. The chicken is always juicy and the assortment of food is great. They even specials that you can find on Face Book. The Rockin Chicken has the best prices and the biggest portions. We are die hard fans and go every weekend for the chicken, green sauce and fries! They even have home made Peruvian desserts which are great. My only complaint is that they don't offer Peruvian Alfajores and Peruvian Papa Rellena.

I seen the add for this place, so i decided to give it a try. The atmosphere very inviting and very clean. I ordered the shrimp fried rice it was $16.99. It was tasty and the chicken very good and flavorful. I would return.

Found this place though the taste of Hartford. Nice local place not fancy ... Clean. We had 2 meals.. roasted chicken with chicken cilantro lime soup and Bictek steak with potato beef thing. Very good sauces and very good food. Authentic .. like chicken necks in the soup. And tripe on the menu. I had the steak... But goid flavor in everything. Waiter guy asked if we were new(we were new to the cuisine) and was very helpful attentive. Corn drink was v good . If we are in downtown we will def. Stop in here for lunch or dinner. Only thing we weren't crazy about was the yuca. It was well prepared (crispy and light) but just don't know why people eat it.

A great place to try! The seating in the restaurant unfussy yet extremely accommodating and pleasant. It is a cross between eat-in/take-out and the wait staff assisted table setting of a traditional restaurant. The staff’s willingness to offer polite accommodations for, even me, who was waiting for a take-out order impressed me! In the past, I’ve only ever ordered the rotisserie chicken, fried plantains and French fries to go and my husband was always the one to pick it up. But after reviewing their menu online, I decided to go to the restaurant myself and pick up the order myself. This time, I tried their chicken fried rice and steak with white rice to go. As I sat waiting for my order, I was pleasantly surprised to see red snapper fish prepared very similarly to the way I’m used to as a West Indian. As I had already placed my order, I vowed to try it next time! After receiving my order, I hurried home to sample everything that smelled mouthwateringly scrumptious! My mouth and my stomach were not disappointed! Definitely was worth the wait! I’ll also spread the word!

The service was superb! Better than ordering through Ubereats, Grubhub or having it delivered period. It was quick and when we ordered the food and it wasn't exactly what we ordered it replaced so quick. It was amazing. The food is fit for a queen and plentiful for a football player. Quaint, cozy and extremely busy around the 4ish time frame. Glad we went earlier! Highly recommended!

The food was great once a point of time. Presently, the main dishes had been awful. I ordered “pollo saltado”and it was so salty... too much sillao... left the dish. The waiter knew the dish was awful but we paid for it! This past Sunday I ordered pasta a la huancaina with lomo saltado pero la crema de la huancaina was nusty. The waiter knew the sometimes the cream is awful depending of the chef. I paid once again for the dish but it won’t happen again. I hope they stick to the recipe and do it right so their client don’t feel cheated! Let’s grow from the mistakes. Thank you!

No need to travel to Peru to get authentic, prepared with love, Peruvian food, because its right here in Hartford, CT, a few miles outside of the heart of the city. This no nonsense place serves up some killer food bursting with flavor that I have never experienced with this type of cuisine before. A family run establishment, The Rockin Chicken is exactly the type of place that you should invest your lunch and dinner money in because the yield pays off in dividends.

Place was good when it first opened .Not so much now. The plate that I ordered had chicken that was uncooked. I didn't eat the rest of the plate sent it back. They didn't even apologize, still charged me for the meal I only took one bite out of.

This is by far the best Peruvian food my family and I've had here in Connecticut, let alone Hartford. It’s always hard to find real authentic Peruvian food, but this is as close as you will get to the real deal! The service is incredible, our server David was outstanding. We order out from here often and it's never a let down. Coming in to eat is even better. Everyone should definitely come and check it out, everything on the menu is amazing!!

I read the reviews and thought that this was a place I'd like to try. Unfortunately we waited for over 20 mins to get served, then we ordered to go and waited over 30 mins to get our food. So, if you are in a hurry, this is not the place to go. Food was ok. I have to say the young lady serving was alone taking orders, serving and without help. Very Irresponsible of the owner.

The food is amazing, the chicken to die for, love the rice. We did take-out for a party and when we got there they hadn't even started preparing it yet and had to wait. They were also very busy and every table filled so maybe they had their hands full. The food was so good I gave them a pass.

Of course the rotisserie chicken (made on a rotisserie that was sent over from Peru). The chicken is marinated for 24 hours in a secret family blend, which makes it one of the juiciest, most flavorful chicken, even the white meat, I have ever had. And I've eaten a lot of chicken in my days.

Amazing, the specialty is Pollo a La Brasa. I haven't tried other plates there but I haven't needed to. Their chicken is the closest thing to actual Pollo a la Brasa from Peru that you will find in the U.S.

The decor is AMAZING!!!! The food is astronomical!!!! Loved the chicken, fried rice and the Lomo sandwich was simply put heavenly. The staff explained a lot about the food they have. I tasted a couple of unique fruit drinks as well. One was passion fruit which was tangy and the other was a purple drink that had a cinnamon taste. Come to find out the purple drink was purple corn. Delicious and incredibly refreshing. Definitely going back for more.

Very good and authentic Peruvianfood. The outside looks average but when you step inside it is a whole different world. The set up is modern but eclectic and the food is fresh and delicious. The rotisserie chicken is a must and so is the lomo saltado, tallarin verder and chaufa. Always good, the service is great and the restaurant is clean! Don't miss this hidden gem in the South end of Hartford.

I went with my friends before the game of Peru. The place lacked service and chicken. The place is supposed to be a rosted chicken place but.. no chicken. We order other plates and they came incomplete one missing salad the other missing potatoes. When we told the stuff were missing the waitress told us that she couldn't do anything. We asked for price reduction or some sort of compensation but they literally told us to pay and leave. We were not the only ones who were treated this way. I highly suggest no to visit this place. Food was good but not worth.

Excelente! Would recommend/return. We tried a selection of items, the charcoal rotisserie flavor of the chicken was great, yuca fries were perfectly cooked. An order of seafood ceviche appeared mountainous. An order of papa a la huancaina was enjoyed. Have eaten plenty of Peruvian food before and this is a good example of it done well.

Wonderful!!! One of my fave peruvian joints in Hartford!!! Try the awesome tallarin verde(with grilled chix or steak your choice!!!), the award winning charcoal rotisserie chicken, or mild- spicy ceviche mixto. I will try to be as less biased as possible. We have been going for the last 2 years. And food was great when they first opened. On 2 separate occasions my brother and my father got chicken here with the center uncooked. My father kindly asked for a refund or exchange but they refused. We’ve mostly had good experience and they food has been great. However, the customer service has been negative. It is understandable if on an occasion they may have overlooked the temperature of their food, but if the customer service is bad and the food is dangerously uncooked then there is no purpose for us to continue going. I hope this raises awareness of the most up to date status of the restaurant.
