Wonderful, nice ambiente, nice food, exelent service.
Very nice restaurant and bar. I had the blackened grouper sandwich which was delicious. Many healthy and heartier choices. Great for a Business meeting or date.
Stopped here while passing through, fast service and good prices!
Very good food and a great space to eat. There is a ton of room at the Goose which is great for bigger parties. The menu has lots of variety and of the things ordered at the table, everything was good. In particular, I got the fish burrito which had nicely grilled fish with guacamole, cheese, lettuce, tomato and a chipotle sauce.
Would rate 3.5; service and food was adequate,, not amazing.
Similar to other Darien restaurants, a solid choice. Great beer and cocktail menu. Food was a bit under seasoned but overall a good spot for dinner.
Great food and atmosphere! We were told about the Goose and were in the area for Fairfeild Parents weekend. Absolutely everything was delicious and great service too. Even the oner greeated us. We will be back for sure!
Sit by the fireplace!
Its nice place, I went for lunch around 3pm and regular menu did not star untill 4pm, the food was good @ that time they not had appetizer that I wad not happy but evething else wad good.
Nice 0lace
Everybody loves the goose, one of the go-to places in the area decent reliable food, good cocktails.
Hit or miss. Have been multiple times to the Goose. Today we went for brunch. Food was good except for the anemic Belgian Waffle which had the thickness of a pancake. Drinks, not so much. Bloody Mary’s were bland, lacking any bite whatsoever. Belgian beer ordered was served in the wrong glass. Maybe the normal bartender was off today? Service was otherwise ok.
Awesome food, beautiful atmosphere and friendly staff
Food was pretty good. The place was packed but we got right. Great beer selection
Food is generally quite good. Only issue is we have found the service to be on the slow end on multiple occasions.
I had the Farmer's Salad and is superb!
Friendly service, good menu, nice atmosphere. Lively bar scene, especially for the over 40 commuting crowd. Live music some nights
Nothing terribly special or awful about this place. The restaurant itself smelled a bit musty, they seemed understaffed when we went in for brunch. The food was just ok. Probably wouldn't try again.
A cozy environment and friendly staff well accompanies the delicious food. Fish and chips were a hit, as was the farmer salad and grouper. Everyone at the table enjoyed themselves very much!
Been here many times, a great place to meet friends or family. Food is consistently good and the staff friendly.
Aesthetically, the best looking bar in the county. I stay in the bar area, where the bartenders are friendly and professional. Good food ( I love the lobster sliders) and a good atmosphere.
Food was excellent, esp the johnny cakes. One of our items did not come out, however.
Great food and beer. Great vibe.
First of all, the Goose in Darien CT is right on/off Rt. 95 at exit 11. That in itself is a plus for a weary traveler looking for a good meal. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming with an off the street patio, a hopping bar, and a quiet dinning room. Food was wonderful. Highly recommend the crab & corn chowder, panzanella salad and linguine with fresh clams. Staff was attentive and professional. Hats off to our waitress, Tatiana for a wonderful night.
The goose was a really great restaurant, fantastic food and great service! It has a wonderful feel to it and I'm definitely going back soon!
A solid choice in the heart of town
Great food, great menu. Nice range of dishes from hamburger sliders and prime rib hero au jus to bouliabaise, ny strip and Filet mignon. Great salads and pasta dishes too. Good attentive service. Tasteful decor. Eat in bar room or main dining room. Bar menu or dinner menu. Excellent casual dining. Been back several times and always consistently very good
Great food, always fresh, great service and I'd highly recommend the oysters. One of my goto lunch spots in Darien
Bartender that night was super on point... Adam was all over it... He did a great job.. He's a reason to visit the goose!
My husband and I are growing to love this restaurant. Last night was our second visit to the restaurant. The ambiance is great, service was good and the food was delicious. We started our dinner with caesar salad and Hawaiian pork kabob and for dinner we had fish and chips and lobster tacos. My only complain is that the appetizers were way overpriced. Especially kabob. I don't think 3 peaces of pork should be priced at $14. That's a little too much. But we are planing to come back and maybe stick to entree dishes next time:)
Old school bar, good food.
Great place for happy hours. Food is ok.
Good service at the bar, fantastic band female singer Sophia incredible voice!
Very good service.
The service was incredibly poor. Had to beg for the wait staff to get their attention, get my 2 year old her drink. The one woman server gave me attitude when I asked if she could bring us utensils and side plates. Unfortunate as we came here a lot but won’t return.
We recently had dinner there and it was delicious!! Our server said they had recently redone the menu - appetizers were especially awesome!!
11-03-18, after doing a google search for an upscale lunch establishment, I thought this would be a nice spot for lunch. However, this turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences I have ever endured. Started out good, hostess asked us if we wanted a more quite spot than the bar, which we opted for. The back dining room had 4 tables occupied and was quite pleasant until customers finished and left. A catering person brought a prospective client in and sat right in back of us. That was the last of my quiet lunch. The client was loud and being we were the only table in the dining room, it made it very hard to concentrate on our conversation and of course their meeting went on forever. After our orders were taken our waiter disappeared at intervals where sometimes 20 minutes went by without a sighting. It took one hour and 55 minutes from being seated to walking out. The busboy took my soda before I was finished, thought he was getting me a refill but I never saw him again. And upon leaving we were not asked if everything was ok"? Very poor service, although the food was good not worth the price. I usually don't write negative reviews but felt compelled to voice my opinion to save your money and especially your time. Pass this place up.
Fantastic local spot for a drink at the welcoming bar paired with some football on the big screens.
The food and atmosphere was fantastic. And gluten free options a plus!
I had a great burger and shared a half price bottle of wine. Love it!
Service was great, food we meh. Sunday brunch crowd is mostly families with small children
I had a very nice filet of sole, and the service was great.
Always amazing food!!
The food was ok. Tables were too close and our waitress barely addressed our table. It took her 15 minutes to come clear our dishes after we were done with our meal. We drove all the way from Wolcott to have a nice night out but it didn't end up that way.
Food was delicious but the service was a bit slower than we expected for the time we were there.
Have always loved this restaurant. Love the ambiance of the bar. Great dining room too. Great apps. Nice menu. Especially love Sunday Brunch! Nice wine selection. Staff friendly and excellent service. Parking lot in back also convenient.
Gf options were lackluster. Burgers weren't gf even without bun. Prices were high for the quality. Although the salad quality was good. Ambience was nice, but I wanted food, not an experience. I would rather pay for a burger I could eat, rather than marble countertops in the ladies room.
Great fish and chips and always good drinks.
Beautiful bar!!!
Best wings hands down. A fixture in Darien and great for business lunches.
Great atmosphere!!
Really warm and cozy place. The bartender is very friendly and honest. The food I've had is pretty good, but the brunch is excellent. Great place to watch football on the weekend. Get the tomato soup and grilled cheese.
Nice atmosphere. Something on the menu for everyone. Food was delicious. There was one wait person who was bumping into everyone without so much as batting an eyelash. Otherwise, it was a great experience.
Same waiter twice in a row have poor and nonchalant service.
Good food. Great waiter. Ken had us in stitches. Had a wonderful evening.
Everything we had was fresh, flavorful, and nothing short of amazing. Highly recommend this place
excellent
Great food. Love it there.
Good pub in the CT burbs
Food is always good! One of the best bartenders in Fairfield county
Nothing special. Really just a nice restaurant bar with good burgers. Service was OK. Sports on a few TVs. Beer/Drink specials. Depending on the time its Family dining or friends getting loaded. Fair prices for Darien.
Just dropped in on way home from Mets game with .WOW did we ever hit the jackpot. Service and ambiance excellent, widespread menu selection, incredible food. Our waiter acted as if our pleasure and presence were tantamount to the establishments continued success. THANK YOU
Great spot for a quick lunch. Busy every day
Had happy hour specials. Good deal regular menu expensive
Was the worst experience of my life!!! The oysters were no bigger then my pinky finger tip!! Then they tried to say I couldn't drive home as their friendly cop was sitting at the other end of the bar needed to get the end of the month quota in!! This was no more then 1/2 hour ago do I seem drunk?? I called my attorney who also could tell that I was not inebreated! 54 years old and have never even had a speeding ticket on my license and this place is trying to pin a dui on me I don't think so. Got there at 3:30 and left at 8:00 had two glasses of wine and they want to pin something on me- I think not!!! They suck and I'll never be back
The food, the service, the atmosphere and the beverage selection! And the prices are very fair for the quality of the food. The salads were delicious with creative ingredients like white beans with arugula in a lemon vinaigrette. The bread pudding with salted caramel ice cream was amazing too.
Warm and cozy. Food and service excellent.
The Goose is fantastic, top to bottom. Great food, great ambiance, great environment. Absolutely loved my dinner and will definitely be coming back every time I come through CT.
Decent atmosphere and nice staff. Good for families with kids. A little pricey for the food they’re putting out. Specials are usually better than the standard menu. Overall a solid choice.
Fun atmosphere, live music, good drinks !!
Porcetta was awesome ny strip was very dry and burnt on outside, and service was not so good, she mightve been new but she was slow and only got us our drinks another person brought us everything else
Nice decor. My vegetable pasta was served with Lima beans substituted for peas without asking me if that would okay. Not a good choice. Usually the food and service in The Goose are great.
The Goose American Bistro & Bar – Darien, CT – 6/13/2016 Loooove the setting… You walk thru a small alley and brick archway before entering the restaurant. A long beautiful wooden bar sits directly to the left as you walk in… Wooden high tops in the bar area and beautiful glass windows… I prefer a dining room setting… As you walk thru their hallway you enter a nice size dining room… Brown wooden tables and chairs… A few booths and half booths… Beautiful Trey ceiling… Ornate lamps… A stone wall on one side with photos and a large faux clock purposely hung... Real charm! I think the servers here are all kids this time of year… My first course this evening the Crab & Corn Chowder… More of a creamy broth based soup with chunks of Crab Meat, Corn, Potatoes and Crispy Bacon… I think they drop the Bacon in just before serving as it was still crunchy… I would say very good… Next up the Mixed Greens… Baby Bib Lettuce, Carrots, tomatoes and I opted to add in Crumbled Gorgonzola with their House Vinaigrette Dressing… my server brought out an extra serving of Gorgonzola, a nice touch soaring me having to ask… Nicely plated and overall good… Unfortunately I had to ask for the bread as my server forgot to bring it out... Nicely served in a woven basket, wrapped in a linen cloth with hardened, house whipped butter… Execution however did not meet my anticipation… An Italian Baguette that they bring in daily... After a couple of bites, the bread was not for me… They may want to re-evaluate where they get their bread… And for the main tonight… The Grilled Halibut Special over Grilled Polenta, Grilled Asparagus served with a Mango Beurre Blanc Sauce Garnished with Sautéed strips of Red Pepper… Beurre Blanc…? Fancy name for Mango Butter Sauce… If they didn't tell me it had Mango, I wouldn't have known… Barely discernible in the flavor… And the fish was borderline dry… Beautifully plated but slightly off in the preparation… They have a great selection of desserts! But in wanting to stick to my eating plan, I passed on dessert and finished the meal with my signature Cappuccino… The Cappuccino was absolutely perfect in every detail! Overall a very nice setting and probably a great place to meet friends after work… I found easy parking and a very friendly staff and for those reasons would recommend this restaurant… For a gourmet meal, this is more of a pub style cuisine…
I liked it
The food had potential. ..
Best fish and chips in ct actually everything on the menu is the best.
Nice place, very good service. Food was alright. Cobb salad was pretty generous with good ingredients. Sea scallops had a very nice pomegranate sauce with 5 OK sized scallops. Guacamole that came with pretty good empanadas was very good. I can see this place moving up a notch without too much effort in the kitchen.
"Vermont Maple syrup" is actually corn syrup.
Wow, was here a few nights ago & will be coming more often ! Everything from the food, to the wonderful service from the hostess. 5 stars ! Will be recommending to all my friends !
Menu was just okay. Staff was friendly. The guy bussing the tables was anxious to clear off so if you stopped eating for a second, he came over and wanted to take plates. Meal was fair. So lots of tables with burgers. Maybe that was the way to go.
Lunch was delicious plan to return lovely location
Manager was a prick.
