Party of 6 for happy hour and they don't have large enough tables for seating. The drinks were worth the $6, the appetizers were not. Only the wings are because at least you get more than two. Coconut shrimp, Scallops, and peppers....you get two. Thats right only two. The sliders you get 3 and the wings 5 or 6. As you imagine three men alone can eat that. Didnt care too much for our waitress either because when my hubby and I showed up to join our party she acted like it was a hassle to seat us and I wasnt even there. The band was playing great music though. I gave this place 3 stars because we did have a great time and for a Monday it became pretty crowded after 6pm which was great because I made new friends. FYI....we dumped the apps together because the huge plates they serve them on was a waste of space.

Hidden near the private hartford air strip, this place is awesome for brunch. They have the unlimited mimosa bar for a decent price and all of their food is to die for. I love everything about this place, from the location to how all the menu item names are aviation themed. I would recommend booking a reservation if you’re looking to go at peak hours with 4+ people. I will have to come back for their dinner service which I’ve also heard good things about.

Fun little location for drinks and dinner. Friendly waitstaff and ample parking. There is a small outdoor patio if you like to watch planes take off and land but seating in that area is limited and on a hot day sit at your own risk. Convenient to the highway and far enough off the beaten to seem like a secret hideaway. Visit the Monkey and enjoy.

I was here for brunch today and walked away very disappointed. The food was awful! I could not finish my chicken and waffles and left hungry. We asked to return our home fries because they were made mostly from sweet potatoes and the waitress said that we should have told her in advance that we didn’t want sweet potatoes. Here’s the kicker though . . . No where on the menu does it say that that they come with sweet potatoes. How can we ask them to omit an ingredient that we don’t know about? The manager was very rude and not at all open to feedback. For the food to be nasty, he should be more willing to make sure his customers are happy. The location is nice, overlooking the small airport but if you would like a better dining experience, go elsewhere.

This was our second time coming here, brought as guests of some friends both times. The food is decent, but the service definitely leaves something to be desired. Both times we were brought the wrong food. Both times the staff argued with us about it, insisting we never asked for such-and-such, evenly though our requests were clearly stated multiple times. The food is expensive, and not good enough to warrant such high prices. The only redeeming factor is watching the planes take off and land. Bottom line: we would never voluntarily go here.

Came here on a friend's recommendation, wouldn't even have known this place exists otherwise. Their kitchen closes at 830pm but they seated us at 815pm and served us very quickly. The steak and cheese egg rolls were my favorite. They don't have much craft beer but a bunch of cocktails that they are known for.

Nice place. Worth a visit, service is good and food is creative. Their Mac and cheese is very good. I have been there 5 times for lunch and have ordered several different items. I have been happy with all my meals. Prices could be a bit lower but it's also Connecticut. I would recommend.

This was my first time there and I was pleasantly surprised. Great atmosphere with direct view of Brainard Airport, but that wasn't even the most impressive thing. It was the food. It was perfect from the appetizers trough out the main courses all the way to the desserts. Everything was perfectly cooked. Definitely will recommend it if you are looking to indulge yourself with some delicious food. Looking forward to visit again.

My first time the manager was rude she allowed us to sit at the front tables for 2 hours then sent a waitress to tell us we have to buy 2 entrees and or multiple appetizers in order t sit there. Before she finally came t the tabel to speak to us and after all the conversations were done sent another waitress and said we dont have to order toooo much other than that it was clean music was great the staff was friendly

It's hard to decide where to begin. The atmosphere of being feet away from an active runway is exhilarating! The menu and specials are creative and delicious! The home made infusions and signature cocktails are excellent! Best of all, the service is outstanding. I highly recommend The Flying Monkey Grill Bar for any occasion. I just wish I could give more than 5 stars…

Overall experience was nice. Staff members are amazing and being able too see small planes land and take off makes coming here worth it. Suggestions - No one should have to wait more then 30 mins for food - Windows need some form type of shading.

Tried to make a reservation of a party of 10+ was told we needed to pay $10 per person in order to hold the reservation as a deposit. was looking forward to trying the place out but did not like there reservation policy. I would think any buisness would be very welcoming with a group of people dining at there establishment but insisting on a deposit made my choice an easy one. Thank you.

I Came with my family for Brunch to continue my Birthday celebration. Our group consisted of Four adults and 3 kids under 12. The menu looked awesome, and we decided to ordered 4 chicken and Waffles, 1 Jet Engine (no English muffins), a side of bacon and a vegan pancake because I am on keto diet. Our food came and it was not great. The pancakes that I was told were made with coconut flour had mostly bananas. I asked for butter only as a topping, but when it came to the table it had powered sugar on it. My brother in-law, who asked for a regular side of pancakes got vegan pancakes instead, and my hollandaise sauce had sugar in it. When my pancakes came back they essentially had a stick of butter on it. When Jenn, our waitress came by and asked what happened, she displayed her attitude instead of providing an apology, and attempted to correct us on the orders that WE MADE. Instead of listening, she decided it would be a better idea to talk over us. When we received our check, she made it a point to announce to us that any party of 7 or more is obligated to give a 20% gravity. This is hard to believe, especially considering three members of our party were kids, two of which shared one meal.

I've been here a couple of times got brunch. The food is always very tasty but the service can definitely use some work. It look a very long time for our order to be taken and for our food to arrive. We waited about 30 minutes after we ordered our food for it to arrive. Once it did arrive, the waitress never came back to check on us until it was time for her to give us the check. I would recommend coming here if you are not in a rush and not starving. But food is definitely delicious and portions are good size. I was a big fan of the vegan pancakes (and I'm not vegan).

Nice drinks, very strong, a few local beers plus the standard selections. We enjoyed the live music, the band was good. While we didn't eat the food looked awesome and we'll definitely be back to try it another time. Watch closely for the sign, it's small and unlit, we drove past it the first time.

Went with a group for Sunday brunch. When we made the reservation, they required $10 pp to secure the reservation-unusual to say the least. It is credited to your bill at the end. 2 people pleasantly greeted us and sat us once our group arrived. The server came over and did not introduce himself, asked what we wanted to drink and explained how the mimosas worked. $15 for Roundtrip, with a .50¢ charge for each after 2 and you have to go to the bar and get them yourself-not sure what the extra charge is for?? We ordered our food and waited for over an hour before food arrived. Eggs likely dried under the lamp while waiting, quesadillas were okay but pico juice filled bottom of the plate making them soggy etc. The food may be really good here but not on this day, mainly because it seemed like it sat for quite a while. Our server checked back on us once in what became a 2 1/2 hour brunch meal! Not a great first experience for sure. Nice looking place that could probably be good if we didn't have one of the worst service experiences ever. To top it off, a 20% gratuity is added in so service quality doesn't really matter to the staff in terms of earning the tip!!

I think the menu was well thought out with interesting choices and everyone more then liked their meal, the inside was decorated nicely and there was a jazz singer with a band that were good although a little loud, l never enjoy going out to dinner with people and not be able to hear each other talk and we did not know they had live music but as I said were good, the reason only 4 stars was we had a 7:00 pm reservation arrived at 6:55 but ended up waiting about 30 mins to be seated while I was looking at 2 open tables 1 of which we were finally seated at??? No room in the bar to sit so we stood against a wall trying not to be in the servers way running back and forth and the guy standing near me said they were over 15 minutes late for their reservation and the hostess came and got them and seated them at one of the open tables??? Made me feel like if we were late we wouldn't have had to wait as long, awhile after she seated them I went over and told her about waiting so long and she said she planned to seat us after then which was when I said it felt unfair to be early and have to wait for someone who was late, she didn't know he and I were talking and looked surprised I knew, I tried to say it as nice as I could but it felt wrong, shortly after she sat us at that other table that was open all that time??? We will try it again with a reservation and see how it goes, our waitress was great and time spent waiting for food and drinks were fine.

The Flying Monkey is the best place to come celebrate any special occasion, catch up with friends or go somewhere that will make you happy! The staff is very outgoing, know what’s on the menu and give you great advice what to pick because all the food is great and it’s hard to choose one. Leo has always been an on point waiter who I request allot of and I always refer this restaurant to all my friends. The owner Junior has always been very easy to speak to and he comes to verify with his customers that everyone is satisfied.

What a nice surprise sitting on a little airport in Hartford! The menu has new twists on old staples and they truly do it well. Not over done, good portions and good service. The fried pickles were just crisp enough and a B-52 panni hit the spot. Those are my highlights but i havent had a bad meal here. In all honesty it was great to enjoy a meal while planes are flying in and flying out the airport. Ha

Food and drinks were good. Live band on Monday was excellent. Customer service was a bit lacking because thee waitress forgot about us. The owner apologized but it didn't seem authentic (that could just be my perception though). The main reason the restaurant would not be on my list of restaurants to visit again is because when we tried to get a seat closer t the band, and there were many open seats, they told us we couldn't unless we had brought an entree and this was their policy. Out of 3 people at a happy hour, we spent over $100 and tipped well so in my opinion that should not have mattered. Definitely won't be my fave

The Flying Monkey is a hidden jem at Brainard Airport. They offer a diverse menu from steaks and seafood, to sandwiches and salads. Their chef does a great job with food preparation and presentation. If you're in the area of the airport, or even if you're not, stop by for something different. It's worth the trip.

Food is okay. Got their eggs Benedict and the eggs certainly were not poached but looked liked they were baked in a muffin tin. The home fries are good and have sweet potatoes mixed in. Drinks are pretty good but someone in my party asked if they could order a mimosa with pineapple juice and was told no, which makes no sense since they have a mimosa bar with those ingredients. So you can make it yourself but not order it?

This is a favorite spot for Friday/Saturday night dining and weekend brunches. Watching planes take off while dining makes for an interesting experience. Everything on the menu has a name that is connected to flying. The shrimp and chicken dishes are excellent. The cocktails are interesting and delicious concoctions. Have truly enjoyed each and every experience I've had here. Expecting many more in the future.

Great food & venue but management/staff need to work on people skills! DOWNSIDE: We had a special event consisting of 6-8 guests and wanted to reserve in advance. First Hostess told us there was no availability in dining room and offered bar area (high tops) where they then strictly informed us that each guest would have to order at least two appetizers. We agreed as we usually share plates. Upon arrival, one guest arrived and host admonished her that no one had been seated yet and we were going to lose the table if no one showed up (4 of us had already been seated). Our waitress was pretty rude & seemed a little overwhelmed; staff was clearing plates while we were still eating. It was clear they wanted to turn the table. UPSIDE: Venue is pretty cool and we could imagine on a nice day having drinks & apps on patio...its right near tarmack for airport so you can watch planes & helicopters take off. There was live music that night that was amazingly fantastic!!! Food was VERY good and we all agreed to go back and try again in hopes the staff would be more friendly and receptive to a large group.

Very uniquely designed place! I felt as if I walk into another place & time! Restaurant is located in a small plane airport. Live band, it was a Saturday night, not too crowded, not too loud. All ages of people; 20-65. Drinks were great & delicious with a personable bartender aiming to please. I was there with my son for drinks & dinner, he is 27 and vegan so there were vegan options which was very nice! Great menu, lots to choose from especially since I am so picky... Appetizers & food were delicious, generous portions & excellent waitress!! A must dine!

I came here with my friends for happy hour/dinner and was so surprised to find such a great place! The restaurant is connected to the hotel at the small airport, so its a little hard to see, but a GPS will bring you right there. Its a little in the middle of nowhere but you are definitely going the right way! The inside is very pretty and the waitress was extremely nice. The prices for happy hour are amazing ($3-$5) and even the regular menu was reasonable. I'll definitely be returning.

Went for brunch. It was okay. If you enjoy bottomless mimosas, you'll like it here. The portions for their brunch menu are small. Don't worry about taking any leftovers with you because there won't be any. I had about 10 homefries on my plate (before I started eating). They tell you when handing you your check that table tops of 6+ have automatic gratuity added - that's probably something that should be listed on the menu. I'd only go back to drink at the bar and enjoy the view.

Requested a table by the window when I made my reservation. We were seated at table near the entrance and not near the window. The hostess did not seem very sympathetic to our complaint. The response was "We can't guarantee a table by the window" I asked why they didn't tell me this when I made the reservation. When our food came my husband's mac and cheese was lukewarm. My onion soup was thin and had a couple of slices of smoked cheese on top. I prefer my soup thicker and with lots of cheese melted on top. My coconut shrimp was delicious, crispy with a sweet and spicy sauce. Our waitress was great, pleasant and attentive. The manager came over and asked how our dinner was. He offered us free desserts. We split the cheesecake eggroll. They also took our coffee off the bill.

Went for Brunch and the selections were varied and excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. The presentation was lovely. Great Bloody Mary's. Plus there was great music loved the band. Great spot and will definitely be going back!!!

WOW!!!! What a awesome place!!! Staff is super attentive, surrounding is relaxing. There's a huge window with a cool view of the airport. I had steak and cheese egg rolls, and the monkey burger. The egg rolls were freakin amazing, as well as the burger. My friend had the shrimp landing and it was phenomenal!!! This is my new spot!!!!!
