Great food, excellent service. For those looking for a low fat snack it probably isn't for you though, their cheeseburgers are steam but their fries are fried to perfection; golden and crispy. Overall wonderful experience check them out.

They're not overly friendly at Ted's, they're not going to ask you about your day and be super chatty unless they know you I'm assuming. They're there to serve burgers, and they do that well. You can see everything be assembled fast and in rapid motion, it has to be, it's steamed, the cheese has to move, gotta eat it fast. I like my burger hot and spicy, bacon, all that spicy stuff and with a side of steamed cheese fries. They're also very sanitary here, you'll see the person up front clean the counters fast, clear the baskets, and then sanitize their hands. I like clean fast service with delicious food. *be careful when parking on the street

Service was quick, place is tight for seating but there were tables outside, just no shade. Food was good, the steamed cheese is their specialty, it was excellent on the burger. The steamed cheese on the cheese fries was not as good, just a blob on some of the fries. I would return but I would go in off hours so I could sit inside.

Totally surprised at how good this place is. The place is tiny and old...about 58 years old and their burgers blow most burger joints away. Besides the regular plain or with cheese they offer about a dozen combination flavored burgers and I want to go back and try them all. Today, I had the A1 burger and it was incredible. Also had fries with it and they were excellent. If anything I regret not getting a second burger. If you havent been...GO.

We went out of curiosity but still enjoyed a tasty burger which, for the cost was excellent. The steam produces a sad looking gray patty, but it works wonders on the cheese. That's the real star. They had lots of toppings and listed combos of them. We went out of our way to pick one up, and then found out they have a good truck at the event we went to!

Super quick! Fries and burgers were out in less than 5 minutes. It was almost filled to capacity but we got right in and sat down at the last both available. Staff was friendly. Food was absolutely delicious.

This is a place I've been dreaming about visiting for almost a decade and it did NOT disappoint! One of the best burgers I've ever had. Uniquely made and beautifully prepared. I didn't opt for one of the signature topping combinations they have because I wanted to really taste the base ingredients, but I will next time. Super fresh toppings (the few I ordered), GREAT bread, and the steamed cheese is just ridiculous. My only complaint is that we don't live closer.

Amazing burgers, the bun is hearty, the cheese is dense and delicious, some of thr best pickle slices i ever had. Regular sized sides are huuuuge. Sweet potato fries were perfect consistency, home fries were big and hearty like steak fries. Glad we went!

Excellent steamed cheeseburgers and chicken sandwiches. Perfectly cooked! Many different toppings and specials all the time. Counter service is friendly and quick. This is a small place, almost like a small diner. Love the fact it's melted block cheese on the burgers! If you are in the area or see the food truck, stop by, you won't be dissappointed.

If your into bland food this is for you. I didnt even finish my food. The loaded home fries were just french fries with chili that looked 3 months old, the melted plastic cheese substance and decent bacon. There is no seasoning whatsoever. The burger tasted like a salad with ketchup, mustard, and mayo. The meat has no presence in the burger. Of you bite the meat and cheese alone it tastes like browned ground beef with no seasoning whatsoever. The food shows make it look so good. The cheese was the most disappointing as it had no flavor. Man v Food definately did some good acting in that episode. People were friendly though.

a madhouse during lunch rush. unorganized. u stand for a long time before being acknowledged. and once they decide to see u...theyre interrupted because someone who decided to eat in is now ready to pay...The foods good though and theyre worldwide famous. not for everyone... i just think they need a better system when busy.

I discovered this place on either a show on the Travel Channel or the Food Channel. I can’t remember enjoying a burger more. The streaming process creates the most moist, succulent, delicious burger. Nice friendly atmosphere. If you are driving by, it is a must stop, you can thank me later.

Oh man that's a good burger... and their menu has expanded so much! So many more things for me try, will just have to come more often... If you don't what a steamed cheeseburger is like, you need get your @$$ in here and try one. Locally famous and now (for a few years) also TV famous. Friendly patient staff whenever I've been there. Enjoyed talking with them about the history of the place while my friend and I ate at the counter last time. Little semi-hidden gem, easy to miss driving by... But don't.

I'm only giving 4 stars because it is pricey there. But, the food is absolutely delicious. The steamed cheeseburgers were large and oozing with wonderful cheese and all on a great hard roll. There are more choices on the menu than I remember from 20 years ago. Even though it's expensive I would go again. Look up their menu online to see all the choices but I found the prices higher than what I found online.

I was here one time a couple of years ago and I can still taste the burger when I see the name of the joint. I definitely will go back when I get a chance. If I didnt live so far away I'd go back once a week. I have never had such an amazing tasting steamed burger. Def one of my favorite places to go.

I wasn't as impressed for all the hype the television shows have stated. Seating area was very small and was very crowded. I waited to get a seat. The food I felt was bland and the cheese not very runny enough for cheese fries. The best part of the meal was the pumpkin milkshake. Value was good though so I didn't feel I over paid for what I got.

I have been a customer at Teds for a very long time. To the point where I started bringing my associate from work about one of my associates to days ago on 12/01/18 And as I started chewing my food something funny in my mouth made me spit it out it came to be a bug in my food as I ran to the bathroom and started throwing up I clear the restaurant now because anyone who’s been to Ted’s knows the bathroom isn’t too far from The seats Ella talk to the manager and he discussed to me how their potatoes are grown in the field in the possibility of it being a bug is natural MIND BLOWN I would never tell a customer it’s natural you ate a bug and the owner acted like this was a normal Occurrence and told me my food was free and that’s all he can do well I hope noooo one brings there associate or family here

Food was great. I felt bad for the staff because it was just two of them for a full busy place but definitely handled calm, courteously and professionally. I had a delicious and filling burger. Took a little long to get stuff like our ranch sauce for our onion rings, the check, and to be cashed out but it's more due to the short handedness and could not be helped. There were 17 people for 2 staff members. They definitely need a third person to balance out the rush.

Visited this small place out of curiosity and was very satisfied to eat a juicy burger and try amazing fries. The steamed burger sounds strange but once you try it, it is one of the best burgers you'll eat. I got a double cheeseburger (two patties on a bakery bun, 2/3lbs of meat and 1/2lb cheese!!!) and parmesan fries that had that steamed cheese on top. I will definitely visit this restaurant again.

Home of the steamed cheese burger. Why would you steam a cheese burger? I don't know. I mean, it isn't bad... but we've already developed superior technology. You know? It's called a grill. Works great. Gives you a nice seer on your burger. Like God intended. Anyway, the steamed burger is what they're known for, so you might as well try it. It's a uniquely Connecticut thing you won't find anywhere else. Then you can tell people, "I ate a steamed cheese burger." And then, if you're a jerk like me, you can follow it up with "you HAVE to try one."

Friendly staff the kitchen appeared to be clean with home town feel. I ordered the steamed cheese burger with few topping and the potatoes salad. At the end of my order preparation the waiters informed me they ran out potato salad. That is when I realize things are not looking up for me. The burger looked pretty good however and the taste reminds me of White Castle burger which I was like oh that’s what I get for about $10. The burger bun should have been grilled or toasted since it was cold. I was disappointed since I heard good feedback from locals. If you have never tried steam burger give it a try however don’t go I. There with the expectation that this burger will blow your mind bc it won’t. Sorry for the spoiler. Not a five star ⭐️

This is a must so if you're on your way through Connecticut. The place is small but the folks there are efficient and pleasant. We stopped there on our way through to Cape Cod. We just tried the plain steamed cheeseburger. It's unique as they steam it using special cabinets. It comes out really hot and the cheese is all stretchy. A single party cheeseburger was 6.75 and worth every penny. Highly recommend it!

This place is an icon, a legend and an original. The steamed cheeseburger is a central Connecticut specialty and no one does it better than Ted's. Soft chewy hard roll, perfectly steamed ground beef and the signature steamed sharp cheddar are all they need to create magic. Staff is always polite and food is served hot and quickly. Worth the ride no matter where you're coming from.

I've been seeing these steamed burgers on the travel and food shows for a while now. So while I was in CT the family and I had to see what these things were about. Well I have to say that they were amazing, my wife and daughter don't really care for burgers and they loved them. Me, I love burgers and I loved it too. It's been about 3 weeks since we've been and I'm still talking about how good the burgers were, we all can't wait to go back!
