Amazing food truly authentic Taste love their weekends buffet especially their briyani
The buffet is so far the best we have had in whole of the USA. There is so much variety that by the time we reached the main course we were already full. The taste of the food is so authentic. Must visit for authentic indian food. Chicken Biryani is to die for!!!
One of my favorite places in Stamford. Friendly staff, great food, and nice dining. The lunch buffet is amazing. Highly recommend this restaurant!
The food is to die for and the service is amazing you can't go wrong here so I most definitely recommend them if your in the mood for some great Indian food!
Oh it was good, lots of high quality variety. Mango juice, chai teas, dozens of dishes, kabobs, several other absolutely spectacular flavors. Attentive services and a good price for the food served.
Weekend buffet spread is to die for.. A variety of veg and nonveg dishes..
Excellent food. Good service from the staff and owners.
Had a buffet lunch on a Monday... The meat and biryani was stale and cold...looked like leftovers from Sunday brunch
Food is Good but not for pure Vegetarian, we ordered some veg item (Veg dum briyani ,dal makhani etc) and found "bone" in that item. Being a Indian cuisine they should know how keep separate veg and non veg food in kitchen. I will not recommend this to anyone who is pure vegetarian.
The food is always on point and the the Indian flavors are authentic and delicious. My families go to for Indian cuisine in Stamford and surrounding area. Must try. They door dash and have regular delivery.
Excellent Indian food at a decent price. Highly recommend the Hyderabadi Dum Biryani.
Good option if you are away from home and you want to try Indian food. Also serve Taj Mahal Indian Beer.
Friendly. Nice menu selection.
The food is delicious, flavorful and some of the best we've ever had. They have a terrific buffet selection and love the ambience at the new location. Also plenty of parking. A+
Always great food, atmosphere, and service. Comfortable and clean.
Very Friendly Atmosphere Great Place To Eat Highly Recommend
Food is great. I've been to their lunch buffet, had a la carte dinner as well as take out, the food has always been good. The staff is attentive and nice.
#datenight Excellent Food and Friendly, Professional Staff!!! Highly recommend!
Wide variety. Great food
I have been to Tawa for their buffet many times. I grew up in Queens, NY for many years and have become quite spoiled with the amazing choices that are at your fingertips. I found the food at Tawa to be most authentic compared to other restaurants in Fairfield county. If you want a good sampling of Indian food their buffet lunch is the place to start. There is something for everyone here. You won't be disappointed and the service is also great!
Very good food. Service staff very nice.
Awesome food
Good food, never too crowded.
No taste and if you order online, forget about hot and fresh food.. Tastes bad. The delivery driver is one horrible person.. I had to walk 5 mins to get my food from the horrible driver. Management knows and doesn’t care; if you complain, they say they knew it.
One of my favorite places in Stamford. Friendly staff, great food, and nice dining. The lunch buffet is amazing. Highly recommend this restaurant!
Nice place with decent music no one in restaurant as it was weekday. I ordered malai kofta and bread. The food was good but overpriced for the quality. When it comes to service I would say they have pretty bad service. First experience: When I requested for a spoon the server asked me to take the spoon that came with the curry. I have never seen any restaurant who suggested me use the same spoon that came with the curry. I would not imagine that would a great effort for cleaning up one spoon as the restaurant was empty. Second experience: Malai kofta is served with rice as I ordered bread I did not eat rice and when requested for the to go box the server gave weird smile as if I was just taking the stuff for free. This was not acceptable. Third experience: When I informed the manager about my experiences he was like not sure why this happened he never apologised initially for the poor service when I informed him that I would be writing up a review that is the time he apologised and said this is just a small issue and don’t give a bad review for this issue. I would consider this as a bigger issue and would also expect the restaurant to also consider this as a big issue. Final experience: On my way out I was about to get some mouth freshener and I see the bowl filled with ants and when I informed the manager he said ants gets attracted towards candy.Seriously is that what you call hygiene. Photo attached.
Tawa is amazing. Theyve stepped up their game with traditional Indian flavors and freshness of ingredients. There is always something new and different to try, and some classic favorites like tandoori chicken. Tawa is an excellent choice for any meal.
Sunday Buffet is really good! Great choice of starters and dessert.
I am just out of 'Tawa' and am posting this. I loved this place. The food is authentic Indian. I loved the Veg Manchurian, Kadai Vegetables and Sambhar Vada. Ambience is good, with a moderate seating space. Service is good too. There are both buffet and a la carte options.
Love the chicken tiki masala
Not worth it! There was very few options for vegetarian in buffet. And it was cold and looks like leftover food. Overall it was really very disappointing experience and I will never recommend this place.
The food is good.. service could be better
The worst delivery service and the management doesn't care!! The delivery food is the worst! No change even after repetitive complaints. Careless management, I wouldn't recommend.
Dont go for biryani
I love the food of this place and service is really nice.
Decent food.
Great dishes and atmosphere. Very authentic and just feels like real Indian family food.
Good place to have Indian buffet in Stamford. It's worth of money & time.
Awesome Indian food with a great ambience.
1st time going here. Friendly people. I ate alone and sat at the bar. Had the chicken lollypops as an appetizer. They were fair. Could have been heightened by serving them with a yogurt dipping sauce or tazicki(sp?) sauce. I was going to have the Vindaloo chicken as my main dish as I love spicy, when the bartendar suggested an 'off the menu' dish which is much hotter than the vindaloo.... I said okay. The dish arrived, looking innocently enough in a white bowl, as a brownish chicken stew with some vegetables. The biryani rice and my Naan bread also arrived. I spooned out some rice and the chicken dish. The first couple of bites were fine. Nice flavor with some curry, and other Indian spice overtones. Sauce was thicker... a nice texture. I liked it. And that's when whatever pepper concoction they had in the stew released its fury upon my mouth. I drank some water and some beer and had a couple more bites. My scalp began to sweat, and I got the hiccups, which is how this chile-head knows he's met his match. I noticed the waiters and bartendar were observing me with my lava stew so I vowed I would not be beaten. I would finish all I spooned out. With a couple of beers, lots of water and most of the Naan, I was able to finish my plateful. But by the time I was done, my scalp was soaked in sweat, my mouth was on fire and i had not stopped hiccupping since my third bite. I had them wrap up the rest, that I reheated and ate with much added yogurt a couple of days later. Yes. I liked it. Yes. I would go back. But I think next time I will stick with 'on the menu' dishes.
They provide amazing and delicious Indian and Chinese food ( vegetarian and non vegetarian) at affordable prices. The staff are very friendly and they ensure that you have a wonderful experience. They also have a good bar that serves good alcoholic drinks.
Lunch buffet with plenty of choices for a reasonable price. Quality of food has always been good.
We like the food at Tawa. We used to go to Tangra Biryani (TB) across the street from Tawa particularly for their curry goat. Once TB closed (which we didn't know why at the time), we began to check out Tawa and fell in love with the place. Come to find out month later that TB and Tawa had merged businesses, so now our favorites were all in one place. We haven't been disappointed with the food nor the staff whom with open arms always greet us with warm welcomes and conversation. We enjoy our time everytime we eat here. Our favorites and what we pretty much stick to: 1. Curry goat 2. Saag Paneer 3. Chicken Tikka (which is like a grilled chicken with no sauce) 4. Chiken Tikka Masala sauce (we usually just put sauce in a bowl minus the chicken that's in it and dip, dip, dip away!) 5. Tandoori chicken 6. Biryani rice
MOMO’s :- It was not well cooked enough paneer tikka masala :- seems to be old like a days or 2 before Lachcha paratha is half cooked
Good food. Bar had limited selection. Draft system was broken
Such a nice restaurant . Every single item is delicious right from starters to desserts ( even the drink Mango lassi) . Freshly prepared food. Cleanliness at its finest . Good ambience . Overall a decent one.
Great surprise to find a buffet of this quality locally. The selections were varied, nan was straight from the oven, all dishes were carefully prepared and delicious. The restaurant is spacious with quiet Indian music in the background complimenting the scene and not overwhelming conversation. It's a wonderful option for those who enjoy Indian cuisine.
Oh dear! I wouldn’t recommend this place but only if you are a fan of pani puri and paneer tikka. That’s all. You couldn’t get any thing else here. If you have a good sense of taste.
I went there for lunch buffet. It's 13$. There selection of dishes for the buffet are pretty standard for most indian buffets. But they do have some dishes which might be different from the rest. One in particular was eggplant and fish curry. I've never heard of that combo before, but i was open to try it out. It was the one which really stood out for me. The dessert options weren't that many only gajar halwa(carrot porridge) and masala chai(tea). The ambience isn't very indian nor does it have a heavy decor. They have a big bar as well which you can use separately and order your drinks to the table as well. The chicken tikka masala tasted more like butter chicken. They tandoori chicken was a bit dry. But overall the fare was good. If you are in stamford, there aren't many indian options to go to especially on a budget.
My bestfriend and I went for lunch. Our experience was amazing. The manager was awesome about making yummy suggestions. The flavors of our entrees were delicious. We'll definitely go back for another terrific dining experience!
Lots of vegetarian options and food was ok. Nothing outstanding, no reason to go back.
Buffet has good spread. Tasty food and friendly staff. This place can fit larger groups as the place is pretty big. Has good parking lot as well.
Amazing variety of veg items with great taste. Never tasted a better, crispier vadai anywhere in the USA.
I have eaten in many indian restaurants and this is one of the best I have tried. We were four of us during lunch hour and the restaurant were full of customer but enough space for all of us. The service was very friendly and efficient, Food arrived piping hot and in good time. The menu contains a good number of house specialities which are a cut above the normal menu offerings. We had lunch buffet and I tried all most all of them and they were delicious. Highly recommend the Hyderabadi Dum Biryani. The restaurant was clean with lot's of parking space. I will go there again and again.
Tasty lunch buffet
Not a great place for vegetarians specially buffay options are very very limited.. never want to again.. not worth at all..they don't know how to make a desert
The buffet is amazing!
Love this place! Food is excellent. Service is amazing. We enjoy coming here.
It seems like Tawa has turned things around and now has my favorite buffet in the Stamford area. The highlight, during my last visit, was the Tandoori Chicken which was quite juicy and flavorful. It actually tasted like real Tandoori Chicken and not some flavored, pan fried chicken. There was also plenty of white meat along with dark meat, and both were equally tender and juicy. The dal and sag up paneer were equally tasty. Interestingly there were two Asian noodle and Mongolian tofu dishes that blended very well with the tastes of the Indian dishes. All in all, the buffet had about a dozen different dishes, including a Chicken Biranyi, and all were good to excellent. The Chicken Tikka Masala might have been a bit too sweet, but it was good enough, that my buddy who is very picky about Masala, had two plates full. The rice dessert was OK, but nothing special. The cost is $11.99. I was informed that there was an even bigger buffet on Fri - Sunday, for $15.00, which I may try out, though I wouldn't know how to eat much more food. There was a steady stream of customers including many Indian families which means frequent turnover of the buffet food. I'm glad to say that I can once again highly recommend Tawa for its daily buffet.
Excellent foods as well as the staff's attention to the clients .
awesome place and great food and friendly service
Nice bar and friendly staff.
Awesome!
This review is only for the shrimp biryani I ordered via seamless app. Not enough meat for the price charged. There were only 6 shrimps. Extremely disappointed. I hope other items on the menu are good but I am the type who doesn't reorder from the same place if I have a disappointing experience
Perfect buffet, but you need to know which day to go. I've been here multiple times and buffet options are changing a bit every time. Once I've been here with two indian friends one of them being vegetarian and he was complaining vegetarian options are limited and not tasty and next time he would rather go to Saffron. The other one was pretty happy and preferred Tawa. The must try thing here is tea.
Amazing food choice in buffet and kids get to eat free
Good food. Reasonable buffet. Ample parking.
Food tasted stale. Also there was only one server across the entire restaurant
After I gave a bad review. They rectified the issue and only have good things to say now.
I love Indian food
had great dinner and finished with great dancing
The best Indian food in Stamford and a great staff who ilare always kind and helpful.
Unfortunately no zero star option so have to assign one star which even they aren't worthy of. Horrible, appalling. Stay away and thank me later for saving you time, money, and your sanity and dignity. Have never felt more slighted anywhere as a customer, ever. This is what happened: I placed an order online, restaurant accepted the order on the app and updated pick up time to about 35 mins from then. Half an hour later at pick up time when I was pulling my car into their parking when I received a call from them, I was expecting the call was to say the order is ready for pick up, but they had called to say they don't have an item available and that they can't make it. I asked why didn't they let me know sooner, and politely asked to cancel the order and refund if they don't have what I ordered available. But the manager refused to cancel the order and insisted I pick up any another item instead(!), and tried to force me to pick up something I didn't want, for which I didn't comply. He then hung up saying " I'm not going to cancel or give your money back. I'm giving you a choice to pick up any other rice from our menu. Come in pick up anything else instead (of what I ordered). I'm not going to cancel, If you want your money back you can call the app and ask them. I don't care man" and put down the phone even as I was attempting to protest the unreasonableness of this!! I'm quoting verbatim. I spent the next half hour talking to the food delivery app's support to cancel an order the restaurant accepted but refuses to fulfill, but also refuses to cancel!!! And the least talked about the customer service attitude the better. The irony, I had added $3 (10%) tip as gratuity to be meted out this most unprofessional behavior from the restaurant's management. Please take you money and business elsewhere to where they do "care". I was robbed off my money (refund subsequently issued by the app will still take few days to credit back), time (half an hour of wait time, and then another half hour in redressal with the app's support to get them to cancel and give me a refund), left hungry having to belatedly place an order elsewhere, and above all left deeply offended. And let me iterate all of this was totally unprovoked and their dismissive words uncalled for. Unbelievable! Thugs. It's going to take me some to "digest" this!
I will try to keep this short but I can't speak higher of this restaurant compared to any other Indian restaurant in Stamford. The food is great, the people/experience are even better. Make sure to visit them during the buffet times to enjoy Indian cuisine at its finest. Jay and Tiger really know how to cook! I don't know if he wants me letting the secret out but ask for the "Tiger Curry". Yes, it is his own recipe and it is amazing. Thanks guys for everything you do!
Very very bad food and situation as next to the seating area was bar and party was going on with loud music and stand up comedy which made us very uncomfortable with family. We had to pack up the food and leave the restaurant.
Best food
Nice environment but too pricey
Had lunch on Sunday and Tuesday. 5 of the dishes on Tuesday are a repeat/rehash from Sunday. 4/5 from my group had stomach churn out by evening.
We had dinner all of the food we had were delicious. Highly recommend
Buffet is great..Tastes awesome.affordable price too.
Good food and nice ppl serving. ..
Great atmosphere. Friendly service. Amazing food. Great spot for authentic Indian food.
Sorry, not the best Indian. Chicken Tika Masala was OK. The Sag was cold & the yogurt was frozen on the buffet line. Food safety issues ?? The nan not fresh ... leftovers from yesterday ? One unresponsive server for 45 people ... really ? Not coming back
Good lunch buffet for 12$. The food was great and authentic
Although there is heavy coastal/Goan influence to the food, this place deserves 5 stars for being the only Indian restaurant to serve roomali / rumali / roomali / roti on the East coast that I know.
Try the fried okra - absolutely delicious!
Amazing place. They are so beyond friendly, food is consistently good. Highly recommended!!
Great place for Bengali (East India) food. Try the signature Bhindi (Okra)! 0
Typical Indian food restaurant, appetizers are good and good options for Vegetarians
This place is usually good but we went on a day when there was a party in the front and alacarte in the back. We got poor service, forgetting small requests and not so pleasing staff conversation. Bad experience but in general, this place is much better.
I like the buffet here. Staff are friendly. They have event halls for small parties . They are so kind and actually asked us to sit in one of their event rooms since we are about 10 people . I also liked the ambience with Indian antiques and posters
The food was yummy and awesome.
A pretty beautiful place and very delicious food
Average Indian restaurant. Not very authentic tasting menu. Their buffet is below avg at best. Menu items are ok but I would go else where if I am looking for Indian food.
Awesome food and great buffet during the work week.
Excellent buffet! It is super clean and quite spacious. The food tasted delicious. Must visit if you are in the neighborhood.
Not good. its just OK. If you have other options then avoid.
HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE!! HORRIBLE!!! I will rate this ZERO stars and not even 1 star. We ordered the food and the worst Signature Karahi Bhindi taste and a HAIR in the Ragra Patti. When complained the restaurant, their action was... NOTHING!! They even said the food taste changes every time. What a Management??? Worthless. We will never ever order or eat from this restaurant. Check my photos with HAIR in the food.
A Big Thank you to Mohammad & Team !! Fish Curry & Goat Biryani was awesome. Definitely Recommend them
Food is ok. Service is not that good.. we ordered 3 types of biriyani Egg, chicken and mutton. Everything looked similar with just some changed. One more thing, never go to this hotel in the last hour of closing hours. The service will urge you to leave the place even though we haven't finished our food. Definitely not for a good South Indian food.
Tawa has been one of our favorite go to places. The new location (not so new now) on Glenbrook has tons of parking. The staff is always friendly and accomodating. I had our Diwali party there and everyone loved the food and drinks.
Had been there last night and had vegetarian food and it was very good. Worth a visit again.... Tried Paneer tikka masala and yellow dal along with roti...
Food is amazing !
Great buffet. Clean and friendly. Nice atmosphere and great comfort food. Service is up to par as well.
Friendly staffs. Food is always ready and made fresh and there is a good varieties
Weekend buffet offers huge variety.good food
Delicious cuisine worthy
Excellent food and service beautiful atmosphere!!
Nice decor
Love this place, I go every time that I'm in Stamford. Authentic Indian cuisine, and the best Lamb Rogan Josh in the state!
Good spread of indian lunch buffet. The food tastes nice. Been here multiple times for lunch and haven't been disappointed even once.
Usually use delivery - great food, good portions, big fan of the Chicken Tikka
Lovely Indian restaurant with nice buffet spread. Lots of variety. Delicious food. Beautiful ambience. Nice place for family and group of friends. Decent parking space.
One of my favorite Indian restaurants! We've tried most of the restaurants in the Stamford area and Tawa is the one we keep coming back to. I love their lunch buffet because you can try a little bit of everything and its delicious! Its perfect for someone who is trying Indian food for the first time. We were also pleasantly surprised with their dinner service - a menu full of intriguing entrees, the food we ordered was excellent food and my boyfriend says its pretty much spot on for authenticity. The service has always been very attentive whenever we've been there. As for value, entrees are about $20but in my opinion well worth it, we've always left full and very satisfied.
Food quality is amazing. We tried Gobi Manchurian and fish kabab with drinks. Taste of appetizers was awesome. Main course options for example indo Chinese and chicken options were also good.
I am a repeat customer. The Food is delicious and I will definitely order from them again. Good weekend brunch
Perfect place to eat. We sat outside and enjoyed perfect service, weather, and flavors. Will definitely make this a regular spot for our family.
I won't go anywhere else to enjoy Indian cuisine. Nice clean place, nice atmosphere and delicious food.
I've been coming to Tawa since it opened, and it is hands-down the best Indian food in Stamford
Good food and very good service. Food was better than average .. but the indo chinese could have been more flavorful. Hence 4 stars instead of 5
Delicious and fresh food. Everything i ate was tasty. I Highly recommended!!
Good food but the service was almost non-existent.
Great Indian food
An excellent Buffet especially if you get there early
Food is delicious! Their chicken tikka masala is to die for!! I have had many dishes here and have come here multiple times! Never disappointed. The service is excellent and food is always top notch
Best Indian restaurant in Fairfield county in Connecticut. Great food, great taste, great atmosphere, family friendly, and nice people!!
Great food, service and ambiance
Delicious Indian cuisine. Affordable buffet.
Need to improve quality and tasty items in buffet.
No other Indian Cuisine restaurant in Stamford or near by places can beat this place.... The chinese and biryani are must try for everyone. Their curries are good too... I love this place and keep on coming here again and again and again...
Grat spread of buffet
Good food. Nice staff. Calm and peaceful environment.
Been here for the lunch Buffets and they have a great selection of veg and non veg dishes. A go to if you are in the area
Very Good and nice Indian food. Buffet is nice here.
Great tasting authentic indian food
Ordered take out here on a Friday night. Food was ready as promised (20 min from when I called). It was a good quantity of food and the quality was also great. I got the chicken Tikka masala entree, a garlic Naan bread, and vegetable samosa. The sonosa was pretty good, not great, but the rest of it was fantastic. I I'll definitely come back again, and based on other reviews will also be trying their buffet.
Good food and ambience.
Very good buffet menu and their new location offers a good ambience...!
Awesome buffet with lots of options! Beautiful setting. We sat next to the fire place on a frigid day and it was heavenly.
We had buffet.Good for people who eat meat. Variety of items of Non-vegetarian. Very limited items for vegetarian. Overall nice.
Lovely experience and the staff pampers you all the way recommend 5 stars
Food is good, veg less iteam and nN wont be good
Not too much variety.
Food is great. I've been to their weekend brunch , the food has always been good. The staff is attentive and nice.Mohammad thank you for inviting us it is definitely worth driving 45mins to ur place.
Best Place for Indian cuisine.
We had a very bad experience at tawa today....From trekking we went to to have lunch around 2.20pm, but when we entered the restaurant they said we just have 15 mins, then we thought atleast we can take food in 15 mins might the counter get closed and take little more time to eat, but the staff again came to our table and said again that we just have 15 mins to finish eating, they were so rude they just keep saying they will close in 15 mins. I also had small kid who was hungry and crying to have food. But we didn't felt like sitting and eating and we walked out and looked for other restaurant. Surprisingly no one mentioned to have food .... they were very mean. I understand we went little late but they can tell us what we can do and so that we can finish quickly instead they just saying you just have 15 mins it's kind of they directly saying get out. Restaurants are basically to serve food, and staff should know how to talk to customers these all are not just business it's more than that.... hope tawa staff learns and improves how to talk and behave well with customers.....
A sumptuous buffet spread and a spacious parking lot within Stamford makes the place good for frequent visits
Ok
Good ambience and good food at competitive prices, have had take outs twice already and friends have loved it too.
Loved the food and the ambience
Food should be better on this price point. Dam biryani wasnt good at all. Tried chiken lollipop lamb chop and dam biryani...
Staff is ridiculous and food is average
Very good lunch buffet, but be forewarned that their website says open at 11 but in reality food doesn't come on to buffet until noon. Fix your damn website tawa!
Average
Way too expensive!! Not worth it Though buffet, food was cold.
The decor could use a little touching up, but it was fine. Friendly staff, really good food. Occasionally felt the service was a little tardy, but we were there at an off hour. They told us about different all-you-can-eat buffets available during the week, all of which sounded like great deals. If the buffet food is like the sit-down cuisine (I assume it is), then the buffets must be incredible. We had 2 well-behaved little children w/ us, and the atmosphere was fine. We had a nice time & a great meal.
One of the best Indian restaurants in Stamford area
Great food and service, highly recommend!
Tawa is my favorite restaurant in Stamford. Had an amazing birthday experience. The service is incredible and the food is even better.
Good variety of Indian food. Good location
