REVIEWS OF Paul's Pasta Shop IN Connecticut

James Fortier

The pasta is great. Marinara is nothing to rave about. Alfredo is also nothing to rave about. I have given Paul's pasta a couple chances but in definitely not impressed.

Tony R

Great lasagna. Good atmosphere. Nice view of the waterfront.

Andrew Clark

Great little authentic Italian restaurant. The cuisine is excellent and they make their own pasta!

keith Stouffer

Absolutely incredible as it is every time we arrive here from Pittsburgh, pa. Not a visit yet that we have ever been disappointed. Thank you Paul and your staff for a wonderful dining experience. Keith and Lois

Jocelyn Hawley

Order dinner to pick up and they told me it would be 30 minutes. I go to the restaurant to pick the order up 30 minutes later and a woman told me the order was cancelled 5 minutes after it was placed. Really!?!? Another Jocelyn called and cancelled my dinner order. I don’t think so. Maybe you forgot to put it in I don’t know, but realistically someone didn’t call and cancel my order.

Artur Ulatowski

Visited the place right before lunch rush. It definitely gets busy during during lunch even on the weekends. Parking is definitely a pain there is only few spots around back and not a lot of parking on the street. Otherwise place is very small and cozy. If you get the right table you will be able to look over the Thames River and the ferries that go back and from New London. Otherwise as the name suggest they specialize in pasta dishes and all of their pasta is super fresh and made in house. However if pasta is not your jam then you will find something else on the menu. Food was pretty delicious.

jen manley

Fresh pasta, big variety of dishes, delicios!

Joey L

Amazing my favorite restaurant n staff r awesome

scott behm

Absolutely fantastic... great little place.. outside dining as well... food is incredible fantastic staff

Lisa Jones

We stopped here for dinner twice during our weekend in Groton. It’s a popular spot so there can be a wait and parking is a bit tricky - but well worth it. All of the he pasta dishes we had were excellent. The were well prepared and the portions were large. The house salad with gorgonzola was exceptional.

Audrey Lee

So amazing! This was my first time going. I have heard so much about this place and it did not disappoint! All made in house pasta and sauce! Love the bread basket that came with dinner as well! Highly recommend

Sam Reid

This place was absolutely delicious. I had the lobster ravioli and will definitely go back for more!

I wish I could box this place up, put it in my pocket, and take it home with me. I came here two years ago while visiting a friend and made a great pilgrimage back the other day so I could bring my husband and share the delicious. All my hyping for the last two years paid off. It was just as good, if not better than two years ago. They have pasta making down to a science. Our meals came out at the perfect temperature and the fresh pasta was the star of the show. My husband looked at me wide-eyed and terrified when I told him I wished I could fill up a tub with the manicotti and eat my way through it. But I’m pretty sure he felt the same about his, even though he was embarrassed by my weird comment. The garlic bread was buttery, melt in the mouth goodness, with a perfect crunchy texture and they bring enough to feed the five thousand. We ended the meal with the fried cookie dough which was when my husband’s eyes really widened and he probably would’ve filled his own tub with it if he would just admit it.

Lo Velez

I mean it’s pretty good. Definitely is neat that they make their own pasta. I guess as a local you have to eat here at least once.

Paul Wilhelm

We have been going to Paul's pasta for many years. The quality of food for the price is phenomenal. We always get the manicotti and share a anti pasta. Unfortunately we live over an hour away but make the trip a few times a year just to have their food.

Barbara Kelly-kinney

The food was authentic and the portions were good size. Delicious

Michael Suchomel

They need too make raviolis a little smaller to big for my kids

Zachary Sizemore

Good food, and decent price. Could use for better seating arrangements and some type of patio heating in this fall weather. All on all a good experience.

Roger Wolcott

Great prices amazing serving size. Pasta a little stiff but feels authentic.

Kristen Murphy

The food, staff, and atmosphere are all phenomenal! Paul makes the pasta by hand and the food is super cheap!

John Curran

Started off with an appetizer the Tuscan bean dip. Had a salad thought it was very good it was not the run of the mill iceberg lettuce where that's where you get everywhere else. So the salad was very good. Main course was the shrimp mushroom spinach special that was very good also. And topped it off with a cheesecake the desert. I ate dinner with two friends we close the place. It's a very small place. But I think you'll be happy if you try it. I live about 40 minutes from there. And I think it was worth it I will definitely go back. I wish I could remember my waitresses name. She was excellent.

Susan Wallen

best pasta anywhere! small plates available. reasonable and great kids!

Anthony Defalco

This place is not amazing. I really wanted to like it. I moved to CT from NYC where there's a million amazing restaurants. Since moving here I've noticed a reoccurring trend of the food being bland. Mexican food=boring, Italian food=no salt, and this place is no exception. I will say that the pasta itself was good. Excellent texture. But the sauce, chicken Parm and the pesto just didn't have any flavor. I was bummed because I bookmarked this place on yelp before visiting and was actually really excited about it.

Maureen Dollard

Everything about this place is wonderful, I've been coming for over 20 years. I love the creamy garlic dressing and linguine with red sauce. Come for an early dinner if you dont want a long wait.

Allyson Forte

Excellent service and food! I grew up in a very traditional Italian household and I was incredibly impressed by the quality and authenticity of the food we were served. The place was totally packed when we visited, yet our server was still very kind, quick and professional.

Dave Baker

Good food at good prices. In my opinion not the best sauce

KAren Gold

So Good!! Fresh large portions! Great creamy garlic dressing is so good!!! All meals we have had were great!

Dee Ortiz

Amazing pasta made fresh on the premises. Great portions, reasonably priced.

Gus Bailey

Definitely a place worth trying, the food is good and fresh, the rates are convenient and it is constantly clean there. Fantastic work.

I remember eating here a few years ago and thought it was pretty good. Nothing over the top amazing, but good. My wife and I decided to order here for a change to where we normally order. Called to order take out and was told "we can't do take out right now, call back later". I'm sorry but my family can't wait until "later". I've got three small kids and they turn into maniacs if they don't eat by 6. Guess I won't be ordering from here again. Plus last time I ate there, the service wasn't all that great. Also, canolis are better at Stop n Shop anyway lol.

Sandra Bullock

Love that they have small plates. Good food, good service

Suzanna Nyberg

I tried, but I couldn't finish the generous portion of the five cheese lasagna so I sat back and enjoyed the riverfront view. It was worth the drive across the state.

Beverly Diaz

Their food was delicious, I even bought a shirt from there, it was seriously inexpensive for the huge portion I was given

Mohammad Shahin

This place has probably the highest food/price ratio (high quality and original food of course)The dishes are amazing. All of them. The meat lasagna, fettuccine alfredo, pesto, are really good. The garlic bread is delicious. Dessert are good too (chocolate cake and peanut butter cake)! P.S: be prepared because for large dishes food portions are huge.

William Stefanelli

We enjoyed a nice lunch there. Generous portions, tasty and well prepared, good variety of choices. Very busy, but decent service. Reasonable price for the meals we had. I am looking forward to returning.

Rebecca Albertson

My company recently had a catered event with Paul's Pasta. Not only was their food wonderful, but they were incredibly kind and helpful in making sure the food was ready to go. When I went to go pick up the order, we realized the car I had would not be able to accommodate everything. Without hesitation, they loaded up their own truck with our order and delivered it to our site. Their willingness to help us and provide our employees with amazing meals has solidified them as one of our regular caterers. We look forward to many more events with them.

Patrick Crough

Parking can be a bit tricky sometimes and there’s usually a wait during peak hours. Other than that, I have no complaints. Their food is fresh, delicious and priced right for the portions. You can also call in and pick up your order if you don’t care to dine in, though I would recommend their outdoor, waterfront seating for the view. You can also buy their pasta, sauces, salads and breads in a retail form, they’d make for a very high quality dinner at home. The wait staff were amazing, we never needed for anything and they were all very nice.

Mel Cowen

Not a good place to go if you’re truly gluten free. Asked for the gluten free pizza without cheese with veggies on top and was given a pizza crust with gross sauce and frozen green beans on it.

Will Wright

So, Paul's is overrated by a lot of people in the area, this is because food in CT, especially this part of the state is.... not great. Don't get me wrong, it is not bad food by any means, the staff is great. If you want to dine in though especially during the summer pack supplies because the wait can be very, very, long. I'd recommend it, but be forewarned it's not at life changing as many of the locals claim.

Amber Miller

I absolutely love Paul's!! Their pasta is absolutely delicious and fresh, and the staff are super friendly. Highly recommend!

Justin M

Great food with decent prices. Outdoor seating by the river overlooking New London.

Paul Stambaugh

Firstn the garden salad with the Poppy seed was fresh and very good. Second, the pasta was OUTSTANDING!!! Staff was friendly as well. Can't wait to go back!

Gregory Ridgel

Amazing home cooked meals. Huge portions. Would highly recommend.

JuliAnn Geiger

Loved the outside dining overlooking the bay. Service was amazing and food was so delicious. Highly recommend this quaint Italian placr

Kamdin Hueg

Great food, and even better staff definitely recommend and will be back for me

Anna Hegyaljai

Super casual, family-style American Italian pasta dishes. Not a lot of variety (most pasta dishes come with red sauce) but an amazing deal with generous portion sizes at low prices. Simple and tasty.

Austin Healey

Delicious fresh made pasta, cozy inside seating, beautiful views of New London on the patio. Expect a 15-20 minute wait minimum to sit down, much longer if it's a Friday or Saturday night. Totally worth the wait!

Terri & Mark V

AHBRA is AWESOME!!! The food, the wine & the service is EXCELLENT!!! We had a GREAT time & would recommend anyone stop by as the pass through or live near CT!!! Thanks so much for a fantastic memory!!! We'll be back!!!

Andrew Bennett

There is always a wait to get a table, but it is worth it. The 5 cheese lasagna and carbonara were both delicious! We'll be back!

Bobby Gerjarusak

This place had a view to die for! Foods were good and fresh. Portions were large! Staffs were super nice and foods were cooked super quick. Prices were very reasonable too. Tried both shrimps with pasta and scallops with pastas. Both were very good. I would go for a large portion. More meats!

Selena Lopez

Amazing pasta and amazing pesto. Can't wait to go again

Izzy Charpentier

Paul's Pasta has the BEST pasta I've ever eaten. The atmosphere is friendly and comfortable, and we were sat right near the water.

Larry Licata

Great lunch spot. Can get busy because the quality of the food is excellent

Josephine Rodriguez

This place IS FANTASTIC!! Being a military family that travels all over, we've had our share of good and ok Italian meals... but this pasta shop was absolutely fantastic!! Freshly made pasta definitely does not disappoint! I had the chicken …

Caitlin Ryan

Amazing every single time. Just wish it wasn't an hour wait on a Wednesday. But a good problem to have! Keep it up, will always return.

Maggie Olson

Like being in Boston's North end great food and excellent bread large portions and good prices

Andrew Cruz

Best Italian food i've had. I waited 20 minutes outside for a seat and would do it again in a heartbeat. Once we got seated we got drinks quickly and the food came out quickly and spot on. To this day I still think the best fried chicken I've ever had is on their chicken Alfredo. Couldn't recommend them enough if you want an amazing Italian experience.

brent renius

Awesome pasta, great service, nice atmosphere and good prices for fresh pasta and the amount you receive. Also love that you can get 2 different sizes of dishes anytime of the day. I always visit when I'm anywhere near Groton!

Bonnie Ponte

Great atmosphere. The pasta was delicious!! I will definitely be back to try more on menu.

A. W.

Delicious and reasonably priced food along with friendly service should give this place 5 stars but their Fly Infestation knocked it down to only 4 stars...

Cindy Klemencic

Stopped in with girlfriends for lunch. Busy shop but friendly staff. Food prep smelled wonderful. I ordered the cheese lasagna & a small garden salad with the house dressing. The lasagna comes with garlic bread, both were amazing. The cheese was well placed, the pasta consistency was perfect, the tomato sauce was very tasty. Gave a 4-star because the facility needs some work. The bathrooms weren't clean, the sidewalk/parking lot& building exterior were cluttered with debris, especially under the rear deck. It was very odd.

CTs Finest 860

The best pasta in CT by far. Service is always great. Clean and friendly.

Phillip Metcalfe

Wonderful restaurant! It’s a small place. The shop/restaurant is an old home. Great prices. Food is fantastic. It can get very crowded and there is limited seating. They do not take reservations. Highly recommend!

Al Aksterowicz

Good food and great service

David Landis

Great food, fresh pasta for all of the meals. Tables close to each other ,food is great.

Victoria Mordasky

Yikes, the bigger man behind the counter was so rude! ... and we were just picking up takeout! Good food though.

Dame Frühauf

Extremely rude and foolish owner. They refuse to do business with grubhub/postmates etc and they yell at the drivers about how they're "losing them business" when it's literally the opposite, not to mention the drivers for these services have nothing to do with it and don't deserve to be screamed at for the owners archaic views. And the foods not good enough make up for it. Will never eat there again.

Kevin Drawyer

One of the best Italian places that I have ever been too. Homemade pasta cut right in the front window. Nice place, great waitstaff and the food was scrumptious! The location right along the river is awesome. Be aware though as with many of the great places to eat, the wait can be long. They do offer a phone in and take out service.

Kayla Toner

We live going to Paul's pasta. My favorite dish is there breaded chicken alfredo since the chicken is tender and there alfredo sauce is amazing. In the summer time it's great to sit on there patio to overlook the thanes river.

Michael Cariño

You can see them preparing fresh pasta, good portions I couldn't finish my plate.

Pjgiantsfan Pjway

Best lunch in quite awhile. Very fresh. Highly recommend making a visit here. Meals come small and large. Small linguine primavera for myself. Small eggplant over pasta for the wife.

Mary Altheiser

Super delicious hand made pasta dishes. I had linguine in white clam sauce, was very good. Pumpkin cheese cake for dessert, left me wanting more but I was to full! I highly recommend this place for pasta lovers.

Jon Doyle

I love this place. Wonderful homemade pasta and a lovely waterfront location.

Robert Wolf

I have been here several times now. The staff has always been friendly and the food great! All the pasta is made onsite right in front where you can watch the machine, I find it quite mesmerizing. They have indoor and outdoor seating. If you like pasta of every sort imaginable this is the place for you.

Heather Casey

I deliver food for a job so I work thru a company that has an app that directs me to go to a place place an order and pick up the food and drop it off. For the first time in over a year of my driving I was refused service which is fine. That is your choice but then as Im about to leave Im being told by some grumpy older man behind the counter "Call the company and tell them" me personal 1 not my responsibility 2 I have no way to contact them directly or I would. So I simply said "I have no way of contacting them" and was given this nasty attitude of "well clearly they have a way of contacting you" personally if not for this experience I probably would have liked to try this place it seems like a popular little hole in the wall but after that. I wont be recommending this place to anyone.

Thelma Raney

Off the beaten track, and low on curb appeal are part of the allure of Paul's Pasta. What they lack in decor they make up for in great food and a nice view from the deck. My favorite is the Spaghetti Pie (although the green peppers could be cut a lot smaller). You can taste every ingredient in the marinara sauce - it's that flavorful! When you order, they'll ask if you want a small or a large. The small is enough for one person to have leftovers, and the large is enough for two people to share and STILL have leftovers. We've never had room left for dessert but the menu looks great. You can always take dessert "to go". Wait staff is friendly and efficient. Bring your appetite!

William Tuttle

Breezy al fresco experience. Friendly staff, excellent prices, handmade pasta and the greatest vinaigrette I've ever enjoyed.

Majolie Aker

Good food,Italian cuisine

Paul Scott

A Groton, and Southeast Connecticut, staple on the restaurant scene. Paul’s Pasta offers delicious, home style Italian cuisine. Extremely generous portions at very reasonable prices. I’m a big eater and always get the full-sized meal and always have plenty of leftovers for lunch. Friendly and helpful servers. Four stars only because the restaurant is a bit small and always crowded...which is a good sign, of course. We get takeout which is ready when they say it will be and always hot out of the kitchen. Highly recommended.

chris poire

Fantastic fresh pasta with Gorgeous water views

Cliff Graillat

No reservations taken...but...Paul's takes your name and you get in line with the other Pasta lovers. Worth the wait. Great entres and don't forget the cannolis!

Steven DeJong

Amazing place for lunch and dinner. I had the full size portion of the spaghetti pie. Oh my goodness!! A huge piece!! Gotta get a cannoli for dessert too. They're the best!!

Aaron O

Amazing pasta and awesome view off back deck!

Samuel Richardson

Food was great. View was wonderful but dining room is small and loud. Recomend sitting on patio. Friendly staff. Very cool tye dyes they wear too.

John Cawley

There is inside and outside seating right on the Thames Riverfront. The staff very friendly and professional. The pasta (homemade on site) is absolutely delicious in many different ways!! Make sure to check out their "Specials" board as they can be exciting. Mangia!!

Sindi Mannochi

Paul's Pasta Shop offers a wide array of homemade fresh sauce and pasta. They have daily specials and other Itallian type meals as well. They offer a very casual atmosphere where you could eat inside or outside overlooking the Thames River. Lunch and dinner are served here. Takeout orders are available as well.

Christian Lopez

Portions are good. Pasta is made fresh in house! Friendly servers with outdoor seating overlooking the water in good weather. A bit cramped inside, and three building itself is a little worn, but still a very welcoming environment overall. 4 stars!!

Daniel Clark

Good food, good portions. I enjoyed the linguini and clam sauce. It met all my expectations for a great dinner.
