This Restaurant belongs to the category of Indian restaurant.
My friend suggested me this place and i would say that i really like the food here. Hospitality was on point and staff here is mostly Indians so it give give a traditional touch to their restaurant!!!
We ate here a few months ago and loved it. Just had dinner again, and really enjoyed it. The food was great. They have a nice selection of northern and southern dishes and some street cart items. The service was polite and reasonably attentive. And, they have many items that are gluten free, and the waiter was able to help with identifying them. Definitely going back. It’s ok if you don’t know the menu. Simply close your eyes and point on any dish. You will love it. Oh don’t forget the bread!!!
Very poor service. They don't know how to manage a restaurant. Very unprofessional. We got half of our order after 40 minutes of waiting and finally we cancelled the remaining order. Not worth your time and money. Worst experience.
Really good dosa. At my first visit I love this place. Plan to go again.
Good place for South Indian food. I love their crispy fosas. I also tried their aloo tiki chaat and it didn't disappoint. But I have bad better coconut rice somewhere else. They need to up their game there! I will definitely go back!
Food is good but the service never improves.
Good Indian food!! Surprisingly good Indo Chinese on the menu!
Worst and disrespectful service, me and my family drove from NY to get some kosher food, They keep us waiting in line like an hour, then they let us sit without taking an order, when the old guy came he said they can't take our order and we saw him, taking other orders to other people, without saying sorry or anything else, they just ignored us like we were nothing, I have never felt this experience at ANY restaurant EVER, I can't believe this just happened, They not even deserved a star, very rude people.
Amazing vegetarian food in Stamford. You will get good Indian food
Nice place for pure Indian vegetarian food. Most of their dishes are tasty not to mention Podi Idli which is my favorite :)
Fresh and delicious. Mumbai and South Indian Thalis can be shared. Great service.
Good authentic indian food Dili and dosa are totally worth it.
unhygienic food do not order paratas hear they are all frozen most of the food hear is frozen food. price of the food hear is reasonable but the service hear is pathetic and food is unhygienic most of the food hear is expired.
Fantastic south indian food. Good north indian too. AND IT'S KOSHER!!!!
Grate grate place. Very good food for the price.
Yummy food, although I don't have vocabulary to describe it in detail. The staff is very helpful and kind.
Great place
Very good food. Kosher. Good hashgacha.
Love the kosher vegetarian Indian dishes. The staff is very welcoming too.
The worst ever.. not good and not clean enough.. the management and the food quality were BAD. The chefs area is a mess. They take the kitchen trash and the wastage out from the main entrance while the people are dining.
Just landed for the first time in US and searched for Indian Restaurant. Glad to see this restaurant which is walk-able distance from our Hotel. Since am from Tamil Nadu (South India) I like the guys and food has same taste as in India. Can't feel am in different country. The Price is normal and food quantity may be high for ladies. Just give a visit and you'll know the Taste of India. Waiting time depends upon the no of customers.
Good food and great service compliments reasonable costs.
A nice casual dining area with south Indian,North Indian and Indo Chinese specialities. A well-lit setting and a nice ambience. I love this place. The restaurant houses quite a good variety of dishes and most of them are authentic.
Unbelievably great flavor balanced with spice. Will certainly be back. Highly recommend!
Heard a lot about it, but disappointed. Food is not that great, prices are bit higher compared to other Indian restaurants. The staff, who was taking order is very harsh and not courteous. Went with friends and family members, within 15 sec staff came to take order, "are you ready to place the order". Even naans were not cooked properly. First and last visit, good bye to Navaratna.
Small place good for southindian food.dont like the Chinese
Bland and no taste. Expensive for a small quantity.
Wonderful food and excellent service and staff in the heart of Stamford.
If you like good Indian food this is the place for you. If you like vegetarian this is the place for you. I have never been to the restaurant but hope to do so. I have ordered delivery countless times. The food is excellent. Full of flavors and character. 100% vegetarian is sometimes a hard sell to my carnivore friends, but I have never had a problem selling this food to a friend second time around.
Some of the best Indian food I have ever eaten! Service can be a bit slow at times, but the result is well worth the wait.
Great food, Great service, Great place for just a family day
Not your typical Indian restaurant. More authentic menu, and it's vegetarian. As a unapologetic meat lover it takes a place like this to make me go veggie!
South Indian food is delicious
Dosa is awesome, same is for uttappam and gajar halwa
We had the south Indian thali and Mumbai thali and it was average. The chole and the paneer was good and the rotis were soft. South Indian thali was okay and not that great. Service is decent. Staff are friendly.
East Indian food is always delicious to me but I did not get what I ordered. I ordered an expensive fish dish but was passed off a lesser quality fish and still charged the higher price after informing our waiter.
If you are looking for a real taste of India then this is the place for you. I am not vegetarian however I have never felt like missing anything when done at this location. Food quality is perhaps as excellent as it could possibly be. Inside environment is very simple but that also gives you a great feeling. Amazing staff adds to the whole experience. Definitely recommend this place!!
Great food and service!!
A good indian family restaurant for vegetarian food. The Ambience is really not bad. But certain authentic south indian dishes lack the original flavour , especially Sambar/Chutney kind of dishes. Thye really need to work on the service.
If you are a food lover, this place is a must! Left Brooklyn, NY this am and discoverd food with new tastes and flavors.. People with an amazing love for the food they serve in a relaxed ambiance, you will enjoy it. You gotta try it! Highly recommended. Will come again!
Good place, reasonable prices, for all vegetarian Indian food. I’ve eaten there many times with my family.
Not sure if the food was so great or I was so damn hungry, the food tasted yummy!! The sambar was so so awesome a little spicy but I liked it. I got the Mysore masala dosa and it's one of the best I have had here in United States. Better than any of the Indian restaurants in New York. The baby corn manchurian was fine not that great.
Great food, and some very interesting and new (to me) dishes. Went for lunch two Sundays in a row. Service was great.
Pretty good vegetarian Indian food; prices are reasonable
Food is delicious; Service is excellent. Very clean and bright atmosphere
One of the best vegetarian restaurants! Delicious South Indian food. Very friendly and courteous staff.
They helped us pick out a good food for our 1-year old who never had Indian food before. Plus, our food was delicious as always.
Good south Indian vegetarian food. Interior is not well maintained. Service is always slower than other restaurants.
Very authentic and delicious. I recommend the Tikka Masala
The worst service. Worst taste. On the top of all in the middle of lunch ( South Indian) they couldn't able to serve plain rice even. They simple told that instead of white rice , they can provide me Biryani rice. Today have I ordered South Indian thali and surprisingly they offered me Biryani rice instead of plain rice. That's their potentiality and hospitality. Worst ever n ever. It's waste of money and time
The food here is quite delicious, I would highly recommend it to anyone. The service is great as well. I was very satisfied with my experience, and would definitely eat there again.
they definitely know how to make South Indian food .. beyond awesome !'
Good Indian food and good service
The food is excellent but the management is strange. When I first started to go here, it felt like a family business where everything was done to ensure a wonderful dining experience. But something happened and things got weird, like the pricing would change mid-meal and stuff like that. If you like vegetarian Indian, it is good enough but my favorite Indian restaurant in the area remains Tawa on Glenbrook Road.
Good place for indian food. Ambience is good street parking mostly available. Worth trying
Taste is very good.....we had ordered shahi paneer n chapati
Best quality Indian food I’ve ever eaten. Real ingredients. Choose your spice level. Our spicy came with a big whole chili pepper. Service is lovely and they deliver even though I’m 9 miles away. And don’t worry about missing the meat. Some excellent dishes where it’s not missed like the diwani handi or a dosa. Also a must try is the appetizer cauliflower gobi mallagai.
Good vegetarian options are available in this restaurant. Food taste is also nice
I've been to this place many times over the years. The thalis, dosas, and many other dishes you don't find commonly are available. I wish the breads-papads on the thali were crisper. The flavors of the dishes are complex- you know they make it from scratch. It is a great place to enjoy vegetarian food, or authentic Indian food. This friendly restaurant serves a variety of delicious traditional Indian foods. We enjoyed our meal!
Went there for lunch after a more than a year and sad to say that the place has deteriorated. Quality of food is bad and hygiene is really terrible. Service is almost non existent and erratic. As a medical professional I am really concerned about the hygiene and handling of food because it's only a matter of time before they have an outbreak of food poisoning here. They should be reported to the Department of Health immediately.
The quality and quantity of food has deteriorated compared to last year.
Good south indian food in the greater stamford area.
Amazing food and wonderful service. The employees are very humble and the food never disappoints.
Loved the Samosa. I requested Saag Paneer with Cheese its not on the menu but I requested it. The younger servers are great there's an older server who's grumpy if you get him expect to wait for service. Otherwise fantastic food.
Great service and wonderful food! So happy it's kosher
Super nice staff. Wanted a mango lassi to go and the owner didn't even charge me!
UNHYGIENIC ( SPOILED FOOD) never go to this restaurant
In love with the place, music and food!
Best Indian vegetarian restaurant in Stamford
I don't like there sambar(sometimes they make it super sweet) most of the times and few of their chutneys are not up to the mark.
Always very Tasty food i love it
Amazing vegetarian food experience
Probably my favorite restaurant in Stamford. The paneer tikka masala is amazing and the guys that deliver are always super nice.
I have been here three times already and always went out satisfied. Love the food, affordable price. And it is somewhat entertaining once in a awhile you will see the server using his palm and forearm as paper when taking notes or writing customer orders. Recommended!
One of the best places i had some real south indian food. Very cheap. But very very good quality. Staff are very humble. The place is clean and neat.in summer they have outside seating. I loved this 0lace. And will go more.
You won't find much better Indian food, kosher or otherwise, then this fantastic restaurant. We have been coming here four years and could not be happier with the service, food, and ambience.
Food is amazing! Staff is friendly.
Delicious authentic Indian food. The service was on par, very friendly, and the food came out relatively quickly. Over all a wonderful experience. We will be back.
The food is excellent. They don’t add too much salt, which is great. The Navaratna Korma is really good. Paneer Tikka Masala is also worth a try. Highly recommend!
Its the only vegetarian restaurant in Stamford. Food is good. I love their Masala Dosa and Chole Bhatura
Best Kosher Indian restaurant in Tri-State area!
What happened to the quality of this restaurant???? I had dosa here earlier and wanted to try South Indian thali.. but it is such a disaster!!! The gulab jamun is soggy, the vegetables in the thali are tasting bad.. sambar has no taste... too much tamarind.. beware to eat thali here, it’s such a waste of money, time and mood!
Tried Southern Dosa. Taste was good. Delivery fast. Price reasonable. Good experience.
Authentic South Indian Restaurant. Excellent food and friendly staff. The price is reasonable as well. Travel more than an hour to eat here. Highly Recommend.
I chose this restaurant for a birthday lunch with a friend. I am a vegetarian and huge fan of Indian food—this place has both north and South Indian cuisine! For lunch, my friend got a platter that was kind of a tapas-type of thing (forget the name) and I got a Goan-style curry. We also got some type of puffy bread and a coconut soup. Everything was so tasty (and filling), plus it was awesome to be in a place where I could order ANYTHING without questioning if there was meat involved. We also got a coconut rice pudding thing for dessert. We parked across the street at the mall and walked over. Will definitely be back!
Good quality Indian food at Stamford.
Great vegetarian Indian cuisine.
Staff is very good, most of the food items are very good. I really liked chilli panner, shahi paneer, Malai kofta, and neer moru at this place.
What a great find. While I was a vegetarian this was my go to place. Many different options and a lot of great tasting entrees. The service is kind, friendly and attentive. My favorite dish is the Allepy Vegetable curry. The mango curry sauce is the greatest. Can’t wait to go back!
Great carry chicken! Amazing taste
Poor customer experience.. tasty food
Very good South Indian (Tamil) food
Indian food is pretty close to what you get home!
Delicious! Many vegan options
For those of you who have not tried this place in the last 2 months, you are in for a treat. Restaurant took a makeover, service has greatly improved. I never found the Indian fare to be lacking but it tastes even fresher than before. I am a "born to never die hardcore carnivore" but this place makes it easy to stay away from meat once in a while. Clean, courteous staff with killer food and ample parking. This is a tough place to beat!
Best Indian food in Connecticut and it's not even close.
While the food is pretty good, Navaratna really needs to improve their service. I once walked in to the restaurant and was ignored for several minutes. When I finally flagged down the server, the server told me that the restaurant was closed. And when I pointed out that their closing time listed on their website was 40 minutes away, the server told me that I wouldn't get served for 45 minutes if I want to stay. Then, he lead me to a dirty table with no utensils, despite the fact that there was a clean table with the table settings already in place right next to it. I've enjoyed the food, but I've never seen a restaurant work so hard to not get my business.
Great good clean food...
Dosa was nice and crispy.
Excellent vegetarian southern Indiana food!
Very tasty food, with an interesting geographical range. Service was a little erratic, but friendly and OK. The one disappointment, though, was that in spite of repeatedly and clearly saying that we wanted the dishes to be very (very) spicy, they were in fact all comparatively mild. We stressed the fact that we understood what spicy Indian food means, and that this was exactly what we wanted. Alas, we got what I think was the American-friendly level of spiciness.
Considering it's an Indian restaurant, the food lacks the Indian flavors.... Americanized version of Indian food.
Good location from place perspective with very old interior and furniture and average food. Nothing exiquiste or out of the world when I compare to other south indian restaurant I have been in Connecticut.... Might not visit again due to average food.
Nice location, quality food pleasing staff and welcoming environment.
Incredible food with a diverse menu full of options for everyone. Totally affordable and good service with a good, filling meal. As a vegetarian I can't wait to go back!
Wish the South Indian was a tad authentic. Sambhar doesn’t taste the way it should but all in all doable food
My Indian friends say its the best in the area
The size of chapatis is really big. Quiet place to have Indian lunch/dinner. Hard to find parking.
Good food. Definitely a good kosher option. The service needs serious improvement but everything is always delicious.
It is going to be very nice experience in Navaratna Restaurant always. The owner and the staff would ensure you get a nice experience with good food. People preferring Dakshin Bharath food items can go here and they would not get disappointed here for sure.
Very tasty kosher vegetarian place. Haven't been here in a couple of years, but the food is still very good, and the service got better. Happy to come again anytime
One of my favorite vegetarian restaurants...wait can be long though
The sambhar was full of salt and the white chutney was smelly. They operate in completely unhygienic and smelly conditions, you can see their kitchen on your way to restroom if you don't believe me.. on top of that the food is overpriced... their board says kosher food, which is a blatant lie. I am pretty sure they even don't know the meaning of the term.
Love it. Great for take out or delivery
Delicious dosa(s)
Good vegetarian indian fare for reasonable prices.
Loved it. One of the authentic places to have Indian food. Aloo chat was so good.
Good veg restaurant. Try the Peshawar paratha
Very good food despite the basic atmosphere. Try the paper (butter) tosai. Very impressive by any standard. Most dishes are vegan or can be made vegan. Very friendly and attentive service.
Good for South Indian food. Not so much for chaats. Filter coffee was good. Ambience is basic. Nice reasonable joint for Indian food.
Nice spot for certified kosher, authentic Indian food. They have a selection of both north and south Indian cuisine. This is one of the few Indian restaurants in the tribal state area which is certified kosher. The cuisine is also vegetarian.
Went for Dinner, Food was awesome. Would expect consistency and much more friendly and welcoming staff
Great authentic Indian food. Had the Thali and it was fantastic
#good quality #average quantity #poor interior design #good service #best location #easily visible from Street
Amazing food. Unfortunately I can't give 5 stars because the service was not so good more than once. But the food is really really tasty and unique. One of my favorite Indian restaurants, as far as food goes.
Solid veggie Indian food. Definitely check it out and go for the thali or the dosas.
Great restaurant. Excellent vegetarian Indian cuisine.
Best Indian restaurant in Stamford, hands down! These guys serve the best South Indian food - makes me think of home! And impeccable service - they always take my requests to give me the exact kind of food I'm craving. Taste is as authentic as it gets. I frequently visit this restaurant. Their ambience could use an upgrade, but that's the only thing I would improve.
Nice, attentive service. The food is delicious, and the waitress was very helpful in steering my husband to gluten - free options. Try the desserts - not all of them are sweet, but they are all delicious.
I was pleasantly surprised by this place. For a party of two, we got the Mumbai Thaali and Masala Dosa. They were both excellent! The thaali let us try some different sauces with breads and channa masala and some daal. Masala Dosa was thin and crunchy and just the right amount of spice.
Really good indian food!
The staff and the owner are not courteous but food is good . So be prepared for unnecessary heated conversations I went there for South Indian Veg Thali and the taste/Quality is fairly good. If one wants to have Indian Tastes, this surely would be one of the best choices. Finally I can say that without any hesitation I can visit again
Nice place with nice food
Good Food. Quick service.
Go for dosas and south indian Thali only here and the rest you can ignore.
Good vegetarian Indian food
My kids loved the food.. awesome service
Descent Indian food, I tried poori masala, masala dosa which were ok. Rasmalai was a total disaster. Serves alcohol as well.
Nice place to have pure Indian Vegetarian food. Over the years though the quality has come down now but still better place to eat in downtown Stamford. Prices per dish are also moderate $10-11 approx. The serve both North and South india food and bit of Mediterranean qusine..
Amazing food
Good service affordable prices
Ordered food at 11.20am and it's around 1.15pm. I am still waiting for food. Hopefully I get my food soon ! When I called they were saying we will deliver to greenwich(15mins from restaurent) first and then deliver me(My house is 6mins away from restaurent). Best part is they did sent my food with delivery boy at 11.45am itself. So for sure my food will be dry and not at all hot. Thanks Navaratna for outstanding experience you gave me. I an NOT GONNA ORDER FOOD FROM YOUR RESTAURANT in my life !!!
I cannot say enough good things about Navaratna. First, Kosher Indian Food?!? My husband and I were thrilled to even know that this existed Connecticut. Once we arrived, the waitstaff was kind and efficient and my whole family was treated very well. The food was amazing, and so many choices! The prices were very reasonable. We, all of us, highly recommend Navaratna!
Amazing vegetarian Indian - South Indian - food. So good that I asked the owner to do a live dosa station at my home for a party I am having. Can’t wait!
Service is very poor, but the Indian breakfast food tastes good
That was such an epic meal! This paper dosa was the best I had in my whole life! Very nice Indian food!
Tasty and not so expensive Indian food. Just a quick note that it is only vegetarian. They have a wide variety of South Indian food, which I rarely come across. So I was definitely impressed by their menu. We’ve been there several times and they’ve not let us down.
This place is great! authentic Indian cuisine and good kosher certification. We come from new Jersey for it.
I LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE
Good south Indian style food.
Found this place next to the movie theatre. The place is good and the food is fairly delicious. We order idli vada combo, Mysore Dosa , mirchi salan, fried cauliflower. No complains . Will definitely come again.
I like the food here and visit often.
Good south indian option in stamford. Not fancy. Not really in the heart of the restaurant district either. So go for the food.
Good south Indian food
Nice place for dosas. They have a various lot varieties... best place to be there for vegetarian food in downtown...
Excellent food and wonderful service. I'll definitely go back when I'm in the area!
Excellent.!! We are the 'Regulars' at this place. We love the taste and variety choices along with the courteous customer service. I would highly recommend it to all.
