Checked this place out on a recommendation from a friend and was pleasantly surprised. I had half a chicken with mac and cheese with a side salad. The salad was fresh, the mac and cheese was creamy but not heavy and the chicken was seasoned very well. My date had the brisket sandwich with potato salad and baked beans. She loved the brisket and the beans. She also enjoyed the potato salad but noted the accent on the mustard not the mayo. Please note my girlfriend is from south Texas and has sampled quite a bit of barbecue... The only issue I had was the chicken was a little dry, as if it had been sitting for a while. That said the staff was very friendly and the food was quick to come out of the kitchen. All of that food and two non alcoholic drinks came in under $29 I strongly recommend giving this place a shot

The food here is really good and reasonably priced, and I appreciate that their Carolina vinegar is actually vinegar, and not a sauce. There's an odd link between BBQ and military service that I don't fully understand, but it's nice to see a business that supports our troops without being weird and jingoistic about it.

It was a pretty neat restaurant/dinning experience. There decor was all praising people that serve our country and public. The food was nothing to write home about in my opinion, but I'm also not really one to eat barbeque often - my husband in the other hand loves barbeque and definitely loved the food at this place and highly recommends the pulled pork and Mac n cheese.

Amazing BBQ for the price, and very quick service. Turkey, brisket, and pulled pork are all good. 6 different styles of sauce at the table. Fresh lemonade and iced tea is great too and unlimited with the other soda. Great place if your in the area

Really good ‘cue in a no-nonsense fast food environment. You wait in a (long) line, you place your food order, you pay ($8-$10 per entree) and then you wait for them to call your name while you search for a table. A good selection of BBQ sauces were on the table, but all of them were just about empty. No salt or pepper are made available on the table( you have to go to a station and pick up mini packets of s+p, fast-food style. The drinks are somewhat pricey (no alcoholic drinks, BTW). The sides were just OK, nothing special about them. My brisket was really good and my wife’s ribs were also tasty. My friend didn’t like his BBQ Chicken. Moist, but chewy for some inexplicable reason. We loved the patriotic theme and will probably return for lunch sometime when they play the Star Spangled Banner at Noon.

1st time visit this past weekend and I have to admit it was delicious. I had dry rubbed short ribs, cornbread, and slaw. 6 types of sauce, and a cool atmosphere. When we walked in the manager saw that we'd never been, promptly walked over and explained the place and menu in a way I have ever heard someone explain something. Well done sir. Recommend.

I love the bbq here. In my opinion it's the best in the area. The meat is tender, falls off the bones and is not dry. I like that it's a dry rub and you can sample the different sauces they have to offer. If you haven't tried Mission Bbq, you need too.

Been able to enjoy great bbq from all around, and have had chain-style bbq too. This place was darn good. I'm giving it 5 stars based on it being 'fast food/chain's. Excellent, tender brisket that needs no sauce, great pulled pork. And I loved the corn bread (hint of sweet, with corn kernels) and I hate corn bread. Besides fountain soda, sweet and unsweet tea and lemonade, they also sell glass bottle sodas, including some southern favorites. The kitchen is open so you can see your food being plated up. Nice wood seating and booths, with extra towels on the table and 6 style sauces, each labeled and explained. Additionally there was a bottle of vinegar to 'Carolina-up' any sauce. Traditional sides, with just one dessert (nana puddin' Folks!). I will definitely be back when I need a bbq fix. They support our military and that's plain to see eith their decor and contentment to service people and veterans, who can sign up for free meals online.

This is a really great little barbecue joint! We were a little skeptical at first (being from Texas) but the brisket was very flavorful! The pulled pork was a tiny bit dry, but luckily there are a variety of state-themed barbecue sauces (all unique and delicious!) to help with the dryness. It's a great alternative to Bears if you don't want to drive all the way to Hartford.

Great new barbecue place. I like their cafeteria style. Six different sauces to choose from and you can actually taste a difference between them. If they served beer it would be a great restaurant. Very veteran friendly.

Extremely generous! Our elementary school celebrated Veterans Day by having students invite service men and women to lunch and a ceremony. Mission BBQ of Southington donated the entire meal. The students and their very special guests enjoyed the experience immensely. The food was amazing, the customer service was amazing (Alyssa thank you), and your loyalty to our veterans and first responders is very much appreciated! We salute you!

Mission catered my wedding. All meetings were pretty informal, and staff turned out to be inexperienced, and unprofessional. They didn't provide enough food for my advised head count and then tried to tell me it was my fault, "You should have added a buffer." Food was supposed to be set aside for myself and my groom, and that was not done. We were supposed to have meat on the cheese tray, and that was not provided. The three staff members I paid per hour for, did not actually serve the food to my guests...likely partially the reason for lack of food. When we finally came up to get our plates there was nothing left for us. The last two tables called up for food barely had enough as well. I am still dealing with this issue, as Renee, the catering manager is slow to respond and prioritize this disastrous situation. I would not recommend anyone catering with Mission BBQ in Southington, and if I could give zero stars I would. Don't waste your time with this establishment, and certainly don't put your event food in their hands!

Great flavors! Decent amount of portions for the price. Ordering could be smoother, feels like constant chaos while waiting for your order with them yelling out order names. There isn't enough room to wait for food orders, everyone is on top of each other or backing into one another, etc. Better layout is needed!

This place was really good when it first opened, I ordered the brisket every time and didn’t regret it. Now every time I go and get the brisket, half of it is fat even though I order it lean. I always order take out so I don’t know about it until I get home and every time it’s a waste of 12 dollars. Quality has went down severely, I don’t recommend it.

We love the service, the food, and the support of the military community at Mission BBQ. One of our favorite places to eat. The cornbread and beans are the best (and we've lived in the deep south!). :) Pulled pork is my fave, but all the meat choices are awesome.

Have been here a couple of times and they are very busy. But they do a great job getting through the lines. Food is a bit more expensive than most fast food but it's immensely better. Very good pulled pork and I also liked the brisket. If you eat in, they also have six BBQ sauces at each table to try at your discretion. Sides like Mac and cheese, baked beans and even banana pudding were all excellent.

As a retired police officer, I find their mission to be impressive. We are visiting the area and this is our first experience with a Mission BBQ. The food is good, and after a lengthy conversation with a staff member, it seems that they do take the mission seriously. My wife thought the amount of food was too generous.

Home Stain

I got the three meat combo and a side. Moist brisket pulled pork and turkey and a side of kickin collard greens. The meat was what I would call passable for BBQ. The collards we're definitely not kickin, however the vinegar on the table made them remind me of Arkansas also passable. As far as the sauces on the table....I was disappointed that I wasted six bites of food trying them as you do not get very much for your money they are trash. The corn bread was the worst I've ever tried, actually spit it out. This is clearly fast food BBQ. The only reason I'm giving it 3stars is because the staff is nice. Below is what you get for$18. Overall dissatisfied.

Ate here for the first time. We had the brisket with mac and cheese and the smoked meatloaf with green beans. The brisket was delicious and the mac and cheese was pretty good. I did not like the meatloaf but my fiance did. The counter server was very nice and had a great sense of humor as my fiance asked her if there was a vegan option. Lol. The place was crowded at 3pm but we found a seat pretty quickly as people were starting to leave. We will certainly return.

Had the baby back ribs and they were fall off the bone and melted in my mouth. Don't like everyone's cornbread, there's is good. Good food. Friendly staff. Visited with my family recently and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Between the 5 of us we ordered a large portion of the available meats: brisket, pulled chicken and pork, 2 types of sausage, and ribs. All of the meats were well cooked, flavorful, and moist. The sausage I order, jalapeño cheese, was less spicy than I hoped and a bit more cheesy than I like, but otherwise good. The ribs were gooey and meaty, with great sauce coverage. The brisket was my personal favorite - smoky, moist and delicious. The sides were great! Delicious cornbread, fries, baked beans, and an amazing peach cobbler. For a chain, this place has a small-town atmosphere and flavor. Plan a visit soon!

Outstanding bbq. Was there with several others and all had something different. All was delicious. Loved that there where 6 sauces on the table so you have all or go 1 by 1. I had ribs and they where cooked to perfection. Clean bite with a little tug nice smoke. The Mac n cheese is awesome. I got the brisket with green beans, and boy, I was not disappointed. I usually order brisket lean instead of wet, and it was perfect! Complimented by some bacon green beans and a sweet tea, I couldn't ask for a better lunch. Combine that with the cool military/public safety themed decor and a very friendly staff, and you have a place I'll certainly be back to visit!

My 1st time at Mission, I have to say the NC pulled pork sandwich was delicious and the moist brisket with the Smoky Mountain bbq sauce amazing. Baked beans was good as the mac and cheese was better than I expected. The cornbread was amazing. This place is a keeper.

Food good, sides good staff excellent. Portionsize on sandwiches, especially brisket and sides small. If I order a sandwich that cost nine dollars, I expect the meat to be over the edge and sides over full not half full. $35 for two at lunch and left hungry. If you where hungry and made a sandwich, wouldn't you want a good portion and be wowed. Didn't get wowed. Sorry, but something to look at.

Great turkey,pulled pork and brisket. Served with no sauce just the way I like it. Plenty of sauces to choose from at the table, Memphis and Tupelo and the Georgia mustard were our favorites. Great food at a great price! Did I mention the pulled pork. We went Saturday night and ate there Sunday afternoon on our way back out of town!

A decent barbecue place trying to compete with others. The prices are great for what you're getting. Not over priced and the meat they serve is good. For some reason no military discount!! A place inspired by military and public service yet no military discount? Crazy

Delicious and consistent. The food and customer service are excellent. They wear their support of the troops and first responders on their sleeve, which is awesome but feels a little like heavy marketing. But it's a great place for good old American BBQ and soul food.

Ok food. Chicken is dry. Brisket a little chewy. Bbq sauces are good. Prices match quality ,responsible. Atmosphere is great.

Good food. Went later on a Sunday night so they were out of a lot of meats. Which wasn't good for us, but was a good sign overall--the food is made fresh and moves. When it's gone it's gone.

Food is great. Love the atmosphere and what they do for those who serve. A bit more expensive than a fast food place but so worth it. Had the Carolina pulled pork and husband had the brisket. The Mac and cheese is best I've had aside from my own. I highly recommend
