Been going to the Marketplace for awhile since they open. First time, we left there unhappy. Food was very good but service was 2 **. Very slow where all the tables around us were leaving when we were still hadn't received our food. (grandson's food was lukewarm). But my biggest complaint is that I want my leftovers to take home. Waited 10-15 minutes to then be told that it was thrown away and they made me some more to take home. What they gave me was a spoon food of noodles with two vegetables. I had over half my meal left. So needless to say, I really could not give this experience more than 2 ** .

Food was good, but very slow service. Party of 2, there for 3 hours for one appetizer, two main dishes, and one dessert. It was a Thursday evening and more than half empty. Staff and atmosphere were great.

Awesome kobe burger and crispy fries. Fish taco was good too. Sat in bar for lunch and only compliant was slow service due to one gal who was server, bus girl, and bar tender at once. Nice cozy barn wood decor and ample parking.

Overrated food and TERRIBLE customer service. Went on Mother’s Day (w a reservation) and waited over two hours only to be forced out by the owner after never even receiving our food. The Newtown Community deserves better... I recommend you spend your money somewhere else.

Delicious food, amazing wine! I went with my mother in law, my uncle and some of my mother in law's friends prior to an event at the pottery Painting place that shares the plaza. We had about 30-40 minutes to kill so we grabbed a light dinner and appetizers. The hostess seated us a the Chef's table without a reservation and received excellent service. We even received the check prior to our food because our server, Mason had the foresight to provide it to us, as we were on a time crunch. All in all an excellent experience and I am excited to go back!

We were greeted with the rudest hostess. Walked in at 5:30 and the restaurant was empty. We were told we could not sit because there were reservations coming at 6:30. She told us if we ate quickly (in an hour) we could sit. I asked her if we would be rushed & she flat out told us yes. Not welcoming at all. Bad policy. Would rather have a dead restaurant for an hour rather than make $100 or more. We are a family of 4, 2 kids. How long were we honestly going to be there.

The rustic theme provides a great atmosphere. Outdoor seating is available and it's quite nice. But the noise level inside is off the charts. We could barely have a conversation at our table. The burger was unremarkable, average: a thin patty, reminded me of Burger King except here it costs $15 and it comes with fewer fries. I expect something amazing from a farm-to-table restaurant. For an alternative, look into Red Rooster Pub in Newtown.

Where do I begin? I coordinated my 40th birthday here with Matt a couple of weeks ago, that he and Vanessa hosted, and I cannot speak highly enough about this place! There was excellent communication along the way and every detail was attended to at the highest level! Market Place's charming atmosphere and farm fresh food from the exposed kitchen was perfect; furthermore, the superior service from Jonathan, Danielle, Casey, and the rest of staff made my evening complete! This is a wonderful addition to Newtown and I look forward to the next opportunity I have to visit!

Its obvious they can't handle Saturday night rush. Messed up orders, extra charges caught on bill. One hand dosen't know what the other is doing. Food sub par and just thrown on plate. Disappoint after many visits. Will not return

The food is well prepared and the service is adequate but something is missing at this Newtown location compared to the Danbury restaurant. At the Danbury Markeplace you feel that you are at a high-end restaurant and paying for the experience, in Newtown it just feels like your paying for it but not getting it. Three drinks, no app, two entrees (1 steak / 1 fish) at $125?

Went back for a second try at the invitation of Matt the manager. Everything was great. I spent 10 years in the food service industry so I have a fairly detailed critical view. The operation moved like a fine watch. From the food to service to facilities to ambiance, all spot on. I will certainly be back.

I got my first Vegan chops on at the Marketplace and learned what was available for an alternative diet choice. I've been steak and potatoes diner for life so i'll just report experience was pleasing. Discovering The Newtown Marketplace even offered the IMPOSSIBLE BURGER took a bit of sleuthing but I spotted it on a menu photo taken by another helpful Google user. First off, I learned unless you're after a full vegan moment order this with the softer Brioche roll. The included Toasted Baguette is made dairy free and fell apart too easily for my taste. That kinda took away from the psudo meaty burger eating experience. What was in between the buns was a pleasing mix of ingredients that would garner a star sticker from my doctor. The plant patty was beef-like and flavorful enough to trick my senses into believing another bovine just got his wings and the dressings were a pleasing mix of fresh vegetables. Served with garlic potato's this was a pleasing alternative. I knew what I desired in this dining experience but the staff wasn’t fully apprised on what they were offering. If you’re serving farm-to-table know your crop. I'm not ready to write home yet because... 1. The staff accurately stated this product contained gluten but mistakenly pointed out to me this product is touted as gluten free on the internet. I hadn’t read that anywhere in anticipation of my first restaurant quality vegan meal. Wheat has gluten so accurately labeling it as VEGAN is all that was needed to be said. TMI was less than helpful 2. IMPOSSIBLE does offer a gluten-free patty that just won awards at the CES 2019. Problem was, when asked, the chef staff couldn’t tell me if this was Vers. 1 (Gluten) or Vers. 2 (Gluten-Free). 3. Some area restaurants are serving Vers.2 but it was bought to my attention this restaurant is changing their menu in a few week and they were not even sure if the IMPOSSIBLE was going to be available at that point. Disappointing. Overall I’ve eaten at the Marketplace at Lexington Gardens and the dining experience is always excellent. My server did give me loads of points for the next time I dine out vegan. While I am looking to expand my dietary choices it would be nice if I didn’t get the feeling the IMPOSSIBLE BURGER wasn’t being showcased like a redheaded stepchild and treated more like part of the family. It’s a formidable choice on so many fronts.

Sister restaurant to the one in Danbury. This one is very good as well. Lots of great farm fresh options. A focus on providing gluten free and vegetarian options, but also a very solid list of delicious comfort food (like the lobster mac and cheese). Myself I had the hot wings and the open faced steak sandwich. The portions are correct, I left full without feeling stuffed. Very happy.

have been to most MP locations. danbury was outstanding, Woodbury was very good, only once out of 4 visits, newtown dinner last night was very, very poor, absolutely tasteless. only 1 out of 4 visits there was marginally decent. i think consistency in restaurants is absolutely key. why do I keep returning??!! wait staff is great, nice atmosphere (dark lighting ....and candles Bravo!) but I will stick to the drinks - they make a lovely Aperol Spritz

We stopped in here the other day for dinner, and we were treated to a fantastic experience. The atmosphere is excellent. The staff was very attentive. I had the lamb, which came from a local farm and it was delicious. My wife had the salmon and she loved it. This will definitely become a staple for us. The best restaurant to come to Newtown in a long time! We are recommending Market Place to all our friends. Try it out!

We were there Thursday night and were very disappointed. The cocktails were nowhere near what was ordered. We were a table of 4, we ordered our meals, 3 came out and the other 20minutes later. The kitchen seemed in complete disarray, and one male manager with no clue.

Great drinks and if you are gluten free / vegan there are choices for you too. A must go to place for some quality food and atmosphere.

Great looking place, nice servers but service messed up order and the music is so loud no one at table can hear each other. I dont see how servers can hear orders promperly with all that noise. My GF spend 24 $ on small and very fatty piece of steak. Not worth it.

I would give it 4 stars but service was extremely slow. Considering that it wasn't crowded, it should never have taken so long. Food was excellent so no complaints about food, and drinks were really good. It's second time the service has been slow so if they work on that a little, it's a nice place.

We showed up on a Wednesday night with a large group and no reservation. They were able to accommodate us which was much appreciated. We ordered some appetizers and drinks while we waited for our entire group to arrive. For appetizers, we had the Mediterranean platter, wings and chicken tacos which were all tasty. The food was really fresh and good- most of us opted for the fish tacos which were delicious. It was nice that you could sub different items- salads, truffle fries, sweet potato fries- for just the plain fries, but they were quite good too. The only complaint we had was that the bar service was exceptionally slow. I ate my entire meal before getting my second pilsner. That's why I gave it the 4 rating. All in all, I would recommend!

Great menu selection that changes with the seasons, clean but cool atmosphere and professional level service makes marketplace one of my favorite spots in Newtown. Love it when the staff take pride in their restaurant and that is shown in spades with this joint

Went here for mother’s day WITH a reservation. They added so many tables you could not even walk. They did not have enough stoves to even cook the food for the amount of people they tried to STUFF into this place. Waited 2HOURS for food and NOTHING. We walked out and didn’t pay for anything because it was ridiculous. Terrible management for doing this. Our poor waiter couldn’t even walk through the place!

The atmosphere and ambiance of this location is great! Unfortunately, that was the only thing great about the experience. Service was very slow and the food was subpar. My wife got the mussels, they came out cold, friend's father got the salmon that was dry and overcooked and another got a steak medium well that came out rare. Seeing how good the other Market Place locations are, I left the Newtown location very disappointed.
