Great dinner and good waiter
We had a very nice family dinner here with 9 people. The food was excellent as was the service and ambiance. The dining room on the main floor was very "homey" even through it has the bar in it (where people were eating or having a drink but very quiet). So it was very comfortable and most importantly not noisy. So many restaurants have these cavernous dining rooms and they echo and are impossible to have a conversation. Everyone was very happy with their food. Of course check the menu ahead to see if they have things you might like. We found the prices reasonable or comparable to similar level restaurants in the area if even slightly below. It was a very relaxing experience when we were there which was appreciated.
Everyone at the table loved their food. The pastas were fantastic, all fresh with a lot of nuanced flavor. This is the closest I've gotten to the food on a recent trip to Italy in the local area. Really good. The $10 pasta Tuesday's here are my FAVORITE - honestly why go any other day? All their pasta dishes (normally at least $20+)
It is quite a lovely experience to dine in L'Orcio's beautiful courtyard with friends and/or family in the summer! The food is always fresh and delicious, the drinks are excellent and the ambience is like no other in New Haven. Alicia is so pleasant, down to earth and a great server. Thank you for a fabulous and memorable evening!
This restaurant has been one of the most consistent places in the area for level of service and quality of food. The menu is attractive and interesting. Food is great and service prompt and professional.
Our meal's there never disappoint. Wonderful spot for outdoor dining on their patio when the warmer weather arrives.
One of the best Italian Restaurants in the State. Great outdoor seating. You may spot someone famous here! Upscale, Uptown, and mangia!
Excellent food, and wonderful service.
Excellent service and food! Definitely finish off the evening with their espresso martini and some dessert. I cannot wait to return.
Beautiful outdoor patio, good cocktails and many wonderful pasta dishes as well as entrees. I must call out the roasted potatoes- perhaps the best I’ve ever had. Add some capers and a little white wine to the branzino and that would be the perfect dish. Look forward to returning.
It's a great restaurant with very high quality food. They offer a great variety of Italian foods. Come here hungry because you will need all if the space you can get!
Panzella salad was all lettuce and greens...not what it’s supposed to be..very weird and the croutons were crumbled soggy pieces. very odd for a place like this
Superb food and service for a large party. I can highly recommend the carpaccio di manzo, and the polpo grigliato. There are also special Italian craft beers, Chiara and Ambrata. Will be returning!
Great food and service , definitely will go back
The food was quite tasty and they do have gluten free pasta which was pretty good. There are two floors so if you are not into stairs make sure to get a table on bottom floor. Street parking available and maybe a lot but we were not aware of that
Great food,great price
One of the best Italian Restaurants in the State. Great outdoor seating. You may spot someone famous here! Upscale, Uptown, and mangia!
Delicious Italian food in a cozy setting. Prices were moderate, they have a small bar area too.
Great atmosphere and service. Definitely try the shrimp appetizer.
Wonderful dinner with friends. Some of the finest pasta I have had. Very lovely dining room with outside garden dining area. Varied menu options.
Authentic cuisine, fairly priced. Great Tuesday dinner specials
Went for restaurant week and it was very average Italian food. Nothing extraordinary but nothing bad either. For the price of the restaurant week special it was good and the service was really great.
Dining at its finest. Great atmosphere, food and staff. The food and wine is an added bonus, lol.. When i went it was $10 pasta night (Tuesday)
This place has a nice atmosphere, but its WAY over priced for small portions.i ordered a grilled shrimp salad and apparently there was a lettuce shortage at the time, because i got a whopping 10 pieces. My husband and sons portions wouldnt have satisfied 2000's Nicole Richie. On the other hand, our waitress was awesome and brought my son italian bread with Parmesan since the gourmet cooks couldnt fulfill my 6 year olds high class taste for grilled cheese.
Delicious filet mignon, great wine selection. A great restaurant on state street
Amazing Italian food! Highly recommended. Great atmosphere for a date or family.
Great restaurant all around. Good food, reasonable prices, great ambience. The Tuesday night pasta deal is really a steal!
Food was excellent. Pasta plates are large and other dishes are large enough to be satisfying. Dessert was especially good. They also make good mixed drinks. Appetizer was good, but presented plainly. The dish in the picture is Vitello con Funghi.
Very good authentic Italian, comfortable restaurant.
We went for dinner on a very cold and windy day. We had octopus and Mediterranean salad, both quite good. Then we had sea bass oven cooked with potatoes and spinach. Good service and we really enjoyed dinner. You might miss this inconspicious restaurant on a side street in New Haven, but the locals know it is worth finding. The place is not very big but it feels cozy. The food is well perpared and the waitstaff is attentive. It might seem a bit pricy - pasta dishes are around $20 and regular entrees run $25 to $30. Parking is on the street.
Delicious pastas abound!
Great place. The specials are nice too. Be prepared to dress up a little. I did not and felt out of place a bit. Its a little fancy but also chilled. A good place for a date or to go with friends. I'd definitely go there again.
Ambiance, service, food, drinks! ALL great
I had lunch with my daughter to celebrate the end of the semester and beginning, almost, of several weeks without the stress of graduate student life. Having myself lived in New Haven for six years a while ago, I had often walked by the restaurant but never dined. I am so happy I finally did. Union League is a New...
First visit and will be definitely back.
Pasta was amazing and so was bartender Chris. Will definitely be back soon. One of New Havens top restaurants
The ambiance is fantastic, service is impeccable, and the food is phenomenal!
Excellent dinner at L'Orcio celebrating a friend's birthday. The pasta was delicious and very well cooked (we had the gnocchi and the papardelle). Attentive service throughout dinner. The desserts were ok but not as enjoyable as the main courses were. Would visit again.
The food is too expensive in relation with the price. Also, it took a while for completing the order.
My fiancé and I have been here a handful of times, and each time the food is wonderful! The atmosphere is comfortable and classic, and we absolutely adore it. The only draw back we have, is that every time we go in the wait staff seems to be inattentive and largely unfriendly. And it isn't as though the restaurant seemed overly busy, otherwise I'd understand. However, the food is worth it. Probably will return in hopes of getting a nicer server!
We had another wonderful meal. Service is attentive but not intrusive. Housemade pastas are terrific.
Excellent food and drinks and location.
Best pizza joint in new haven. They always have great service and actually answer the phone when you try to call in an order. Longest wait has been 30 min.
amazing service, absolutely delicious food and beautiful restaurant. Great pricing and wonderful staff. Definitely will be coming back here again! :)
We went on a Friday night around 7PM without a reservation and they were able to seat us right away, though not in the back garden area. We still were able to sit at a table with direct view of the garden so it was comfortable with a lovely view. hey were fairly attentive and service was normal.
Cute Italian restaurant with great ambiance. Some of the food was great—lemon chicken was tender and well flavored. Osso bucco pasta was average. It was a bit flat in flavor, and the pasta kept sticking together and formed a congealed mess towards the end. The burrata salad was fine, but it’s not hard to make simple ingredients taste good, and the cheesecake, which was recommended by the waitress, was overly sweet with weird texture. The restaurant itself is lovely, worth coming if you’re craving Italian food and you’re in New Haven.
Lovely meal in open air garden in the back of the main building. Good service, Sauvignon Blanc (mellow, round with legs on glass), delicious chicken. Wonderful meal on June night for two.
Cute and delicious
Great atmosphere and food
Great service, suburb food...gorgeous patio
Authentic Italian. Absolutely delicious. Would definitely dine there again.
Good service but felt the bottom was too black to completely enjoy. Prices are on par with other New Haven pizza spots. Good selection. I'm told that pizza varies but since there are other options on the next block that's my preference.
The food was incredible!
In my regular rotation for Italian food. Top notch all around. Try the paparadelle ragu. It's made with homemade pasta and is amazing.
food was good — i would recommend the burrata very highly. atmosphere was warm. service was ok. prices were reasonable for a restaurant with white tables cloths, but by no means inexpensive. everything was good and ok, but nothing was great. i might come back here, but then again i might not.
The restaurant has a great ambience, very romantic and cheerful. It was a great place for a date night. My partner and I are vegetarians and we were not completely blown away by their selection and dessert (Tiramisu) was not exceptional either. However, meat lovers would probably enjoy this place more than we did! Cheers!
Good sauce, homemade pasta.
The whole menu here looks delicious! Definitely recommend it. I just didn't have much luck with my waitress.
Great place for after work drinks, food is okay. Atmosphere is just right
Was aight
Satisfactory food, but most probably come here for the romantic ambiance rather than the eats. If you get a table on the patio in the summer, you're guaranteed to take your SO home and have some fun. If you're stuck inside or it's winter, then find a nook to canoodle.
The tapas here is among the best around - authentic, nice portion sizes, very well prepared and served and reasonable for the high quality. Mains equally well done and reasonable and nice selection of wines by the glass. Hopping busy and noisy bar - service excellent. Recommended.
The food was delicious. Gluten free was accommodated....with lots of flavor! Attentive, but not "hovering" staff
Good American interpretation of Italian food. Nice for dinner. Attentive and professional staff.
Good food & service
My family and I were first time diners at L'Orocio on State Street in New Haven, CT. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The outside garden is quiet and well lighted. The food (I recommend the Chic Pea Ravioli) was full of flavor. The service was excellent.
Crowded but we had reservations and got right in. Nicely greeted. Food was delicious. When seated my plate had some dried parsley stuck on it. Waitress was sweet. Next time we would sit outside, it looked beautiful!
A lil off the beaten path, service needed a lil work and sitting by the curtain that separated the kitchen area isn't a good place to sit workers kept walking past us when we needed help
The food was very good. Reasonable prices. Menu is limited. It would be nice if entrees came with soup or salad
Great outdoor seating area, phenomenal service, delicious food, reasonable prices definitely an upscale place and would highly recommend
Decent food. Great service. Pricey
Cosy, great food, nice outdoor patio it back.
Having read mixed reviews before we dined last night I was a bit apprehensive however the meals for each of our party of six were excellent. From the menu two had the lamb, one the chicken and figs, one sea bass filet, one filet mignon and I had the nightly special pork tenderloin in cognac sauce. For starters beet salads, caprese salad and the ribolatta soup special. All meats were cooked perfectly, my tenderloin was the most tender I’ve had and the cognac sauce on point. The soup was a bit thick for my liking but flavorful. For desert, crepe, lemon tart and the best terimisu we ever ate. From start to finish the food was fantastic. Our table was secluded and quiet. Our server Ashley was fantastic. We will definitely be back!
I booked dinner at L'Orcio as part of Handsome Companion's birthday celebration (which, this year, spans two weeks . . . ahem!). We arrived just about on time for our 5:45 P.M. reservation and were shown to a table on the second floor, next to the gas fireplace, and far away from any other tables. L'Orcio is in a refurbished home. The atmosphere is quiet, relaxing and elegant. The walls are exposed brick, the furnishings are simple, and the art is understated, because here, the emphasis is on the food.
The food was absolutely delicious! The service was prompt and it wasn't too crowded when we first got there. It did start filling up as the night went on, though, but it never got too loud.
Really good food in a quiet setting.
Homemade pasta. Sauce the way your nana made it if she was born in Italy.
Nice Italian restaurant. A moderate number of options, ~10 pasta dishes and another ~10 meat dishes. I had the classic cheese filled ravioli served in tomato sauce with fresh grated pecorino cheese. Very tasty -- would recommend.
Having fine delicious food, on their magical patio on a beautiful spring evening... Hard to top it
I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant. The food was good, but the service was subpar. I was there on a Wednesday night and It seemed as though they were understaffed. We had made a reservation three weeks in advance for a graduation dinner. I was told they could only accommodate us at 8:30 because they were so booked, however when we arrived the place was not busy at all. There was no reason for a party of 12 to have such poor service. The most unacceptable part was that the manager was absolutely rude and out of line in her reaction to one person in our party who went inside to mention the lack of service. I am afraid this person may have been an owner because an employee would have never spoken to a customer the way this woman did and not expect to get fired. She literally came out to the table, walked over to the guest who had spoken up about the service and in a nasty condescending tone said "you have water, you have food, see everything is fine" and huffed away. So very disappointed.
We went on a Friday night around 7PM without a reservation and they were able to seat us right away, though not in the back garden area. We still were able to sit at a table with direct view of the garden so it was comfortable with a lovely view. The wait staff was a little cold (hence 4 stars) but by no means rude.
I have been here multiple times over the years, with friends or family or my husband. Delicious food and great service, nice decor and although I don’t drink I have heard good drinks. I also think the menu options are diverse but not overwhelming. An excellent restaurant! I forgot to add that on one occasion the chef sent us out soups to try that were truly delicious!
A very nice place to try in new haven. It’s a place with some interesting history. Nice bar. It’s a little small but cute and very clean inside. You can tell the owners do things right. Great fresh pasta. Worth a trip. The food is much better than average, and the specials worthwhile. Service is professional, and the host is very warm and welcoming. Clearly a family-run place. They take pride in what they do.
Friendly service, nice atmosphere and the food was delicious!
Food was good and the service was excellent. No music though so the atmosphere overall was OK.
Always a Top Choice for Italian. Probably the best in New Haven.
Conveniently located down the street from Yale University, Zinc is a chic restaurant with a semi-formal environment. Wait staff is excellent and food choices range from fresh fish to well prepared meat dishes. Nice wine and Drink menu as well.
Fantastic service, even better food and drinks. Somewhat pricey for New Haven, but also one of the best restaurants for miles. More than worth the price.
