I will say I was a little disappointed. I had great things so it was top of my list of restaurants to try. When we got there, there was an hour or so wait on top of that everything I wanted to try they ran out of!!!! I really wanted the chicken and waffles but unfortunately they ran out so inside I had the brisket which I wasn’t a fan of and mac and cheese which was just alright. The drinks were actually really good I will give them that. And our service was great. Although our waitress was swamped she was still really attentive and professional.

As a Southerner best barbecue that I have eaten in Connecticut, there was a wait but well worth it. The meat is smoked to perfection, tender, juicy, succulent, not greasy, hard or dry. Worth the one and a half hour drive for the meat, not a fan of the sides. Had the "Holy Texas Trinity" and pulled pork with a le carte sides.

I grew up in the south (Tallahassee) and have to say...Delicious pulled pork and more. I always stop in to grab something after mommy and me nails at the salon around the corner. There's never anything left to share with the boys. Great restaurant or you can take out in less than 10/15 min. Best BBQ around.

I’ve been here a few times and the bbq is exceptional!! The constant running out of food and having to keep telling customers is insane!! For a restaurant that stays open until midnight or longer. Management have to implement something different in order for things to go smoother it leaves a bad taste in people’s mouth! Some restaurants get comfortable about how booming the business is going and into income coming in and when you think like that things are bound to change/ close it doesn’t necessarily have to be today, tomorrow, future could be coming to a end without notice. The tech savvy world and reviews can definitely hurt the business.

The BBQ here is pretty legit, probably the best in place Connecticut for this type of food. Brisket and pork belly are must trys. The drink cocktails are very good as well... although a tad on the sweet side for some people (southern style). Great place, we will be back .

Really good, tender, smoked meats. If you are going for a large cut of meat, such as ribs, beef shank, etc. the prices are really expensive and come with no sides. $38 for a rack of ribs, though it will be the best dry rub ribs you have ever eaten. They have many different kinds of whiskey. The tables are a bit small and can feel crampt, especially when your main dishes have arrived. My review may sound negative, but the meat is some of the best that I have ever had.

That I haven't put down a review for this instamt classic is a shocker....honestly the main issue is that the food is sooooo good I never get a chance to photograph it lol. If it's the giant dense blocks of fantastic cornbread or the smoked sausage links....the rub on the brisket or the charred bark on the ribs this place hits on all the notes. They have an eclectic menu with unique apps and desserts a friendly and personable staff paired w/a down home themed decor and a bar that slings some mean drinks....really what more could you ask for?? Don't believe me? Come down and give it a try or better yet check out this lil teaser pic of their brisket sandwich!

Their beer options are always fantastic, food is always on point and very friendly staff. Only problems with this place are a lack of parking and long wait times. I'm starting to feel sorry for the numerous BBQ places that are opening up in the area. Absolutely none of them are on par with Hood Doo's and are doomed to fail. I had sworn off of trying any of the local barbecue spots. However, every now and then I find myself in a place where I'm jonezing for BBQ and nowhere near HooDoos, so I'll try what's nearby. Needless to say each and every time I have walked away disappointed and regretted. From flavor, tenderness, size, price and meat quality I have not been able to find anyone who comes close to hoodoo browns. I think if you want to find something on par you're going to have to take a trip to Austin Texas. Best time to go is around four or five pm when the food is moving and right off the smoker. Yes there will be a wait, but you will get a chance to experience HooDoos at its 100% best. I am done looking for anything better than HooDoos in NY & New England. Seriously a half rack of ribs at Hooters looks like something out of the Flintstones. Compare that to anywhere else in the area where you get three ribs and a price tag of about $24. Hoodoos I have cheated on you for the last time. (Also anyone who goes to a place like HooDoos and orders the chicken needs to have their head examined. You don't walk into a Ferrari dealership and ask if they have any Hyundais for sale.)

The nachos with brisket are awesome, and the BBQ variety of the smoked chicken wings are absolutely ridiculously good. My only ding to them, is what's taking so long to buy out the building next door and making it bigger so I dont have to wait so long to get in..

Ever since I moved to CT I've been looking for a good BBQ restaurant. This is just under an hour from where I live, and it's worth the drive. We were told they were out of a few things, including the baby back ribs.... so the 4 of us ordered 1lb of brisket, 1/2lb of pulled pork, 1/2lb of cracklin pork belly, and one link of each of the sausages. The brisket was my favorite. Once we had finished all that, our server stopped by to tell us they had just pulled some ribs off the smoker, so of course we had to get a 1/2 rack. They were delicious, fall off the bone ribs. Unfortunately we had no room for dessert, though I wish I would have saved some because I saw a few go by and I wish I had one. Maybe I'll save some room on my next visit...

A Hard No. I went to a Whole Hog pig roast event that was catered by Hoodoo Brown, and I have to say that I was underwhelmed by the experience. The food was late coming out, was overly salted to cover a mediocre job of preparation and the attitude of the restaurant staff was bad. The event began at 12 noon and ended at 5pm, with the food served at 1pm – this was advertised in the invitation and registration. When we arrived at 12 and sat down, we were surprised that there was no food or grill setup but assumed that the restaurant was bringing the food prepared and in trays for service at 1 as promised. Nope. After setting up a stove with hot coals right near the corn hole boards, setting up serving tables, bringing the whole split hog to the venue, reheating it or keeping it up to temp on the hot coals on a grill and and generally getting their act together, it was 2:30 before food was served. And just before serving, they made a show of chopping up the meat on a table and pouring salt all over the meat. The result was overly salted, not very flavorful pork, served by staff that didn’t look thrilled to be there. When a friend mentioned that the food was scheduled to come out at 1, the person in charge replied “the pig’s done when the pig’s done”. No apology, no smile, nothing. To top it off, when we asked for napkins (it’s a barbecue) they said they had none. Needless to say, it didn’t impress me. I’ll give this place a pass.

Was there Saturday at 5:45. Expect 1 to 1/2 hours waiting if you go the or later. Drinks while we were waiting on the weak side. But once your seated and can order, you' d have been wise to bring your biggest appetite. Everything is delicious but the brisket is awesome. Quick service. We ordered the nachos....we got like insta-nachos. Ribs were perfect...and I mean perfect. Brisket was rubbed with a delicious peppery rub. Exactly what I expected from a Texas brisket. No sauce needed for this Q, but their "Original" and "Carolina" sauces were perfectly balanced and, when used, accented their meats well. Mac n cheese, good. Cornbread, different but good. Perfect portion sizes. Prices a little north than I like to see, but honestly, worth it. This is quality Q folks. Our server, Erica, was attentive and helpful, and greeted us quickly. So, why 4 stars? Bathrooms need some attention. (Honest opinion) That being said, be sure to add this to your To Do Q list! Well done Hoodoo.

As a Fairfield County native I can say with 1000% certainty there is no other place that can touch how good their food is, their passion for BBQ great drinks and service! Their deserts are AMAZING as well - and you can tell they are homemade!! **Definitely try the Turkey! I also think their COBB Salad is amazing! Pork Belly instead of Bacon :) Also love their nachos with their homemade cheese sauce - I am obsessed with their cheese sauce.

One of the few places in Connecticut to get smoked beef long ribs. Well worth the price and wait. Definitely expect a crowd on weekends and be prepared to park in the labyrinthine series of alleys behind the restaurant. Rustic, but not run down. Country, but classy. Overall a great experience.

Usually a good spot...but DO NOT CATER from here! We pre-ordered for super bowl Sunday with a 4:30pm pick-up time and didn’t walk out with our order until 5:50pm! We were not comped in any way, even after waiting for over an hour. They also ran out of brisket and some orders weren’t even in their system - never again! The owners only response was “your food is coming.” Needless to say they bit off more than they could chew and were not at all prepared!

Awesome food. Great staff. Wish they accept reservations for everyone. Place opened at 11:30am and we got there at 11:35am and we had an hour wait. Some people who arrived after 12pm had a 3 hour wait. It's obvious that the food is that good it's worth the wait. I would recommend a paging system. This place is a goldmine. Owners should consider a bigger place or another location.

Disappointed. Brisket sandwich was thin and very fatty. Don't mind some fat, but this was cold dense fat and very chewy and tough. Cold dry pre cooked french fries. This is the easiest thing to do well,fries. Roll was nicely toasted and the Cole slaw was very good. Beer was fresh and cold. The bar atmosphere was not very fun. Live locally, will go again, but disappointed .

Good food good waitress. UPDATE: ** 6-8-19, I came a second time. It was better then. This time I had the same as last the 1/2 lbs Brisket (no option for 1/4 lbs) and seasoned fries. Very disappointed with the Brisket it had way too much fat and no option to order half marbled the other BBQ establishments offer this. All the fat got to my stomach. My girlfriend thought overall the food was very salty. They have a high rating may be the other foods are better.

Fantastic BBQ! At first, the menu looked small, but then I realized that my eyes were bigger than my stomach. I wanted everything! The brisket was smoked perfectly and the rub was very good. The Carolina Brown BBQ sauce was out of this world. The cornbread, baked beans, and potato salad were superb. I will definitely come back.

Surprise. I have passed this place dozens of times (which is unusual because I am a BBQ guy) and stopped this time because it was the day after Thanksgiving and I wanted something other than Turkey. Of course the specials involved smoked Turkey. They do a lot of sandwiches and also sell meat by the 1/2 pound,brisket,pulled pork,sausage,pork belly, $9 to $ 11.00 per 1/2 pound. No mix and match sampler on the menu so it could be expensive to order for variety. I went with the pork belly and brisket sandwich sans bread which came with a slaw on it. I switched the fries for a side of collards. Pork belly was as advertised, crispy and good,not huge amounts of fat. Brisket was tender and juicy however bark was also wet and not really flavorful. Enter the two house sauces, a Carolina mustard and traditional BBQ sauce, both really good . Looking around the portions were large, service was excellent and atmosphere was very laid back. Full bar, parking in the back,. Definitely looking forward to future trips.

Best brisket around! This place is not big and fills up fast. I have found that eating at the bar can save you 30-45 minute waits. There is no waiting list for the bar. Any open seat is available for dining or drinking. Great western and BBQ food!!!

I finally made it here. After hearing great things about this place i had to try it out.. portions are huge.. and pork belly was my favorite.. the corn bread was really good too. Mac and cheese was ok.. but thats because i like a sharper mac and cheese.. the pork belly was amazing.. the beef rib was ok.. but from the price.. i wouldnt order again. I think i am more of a baby back rib person. The collard greens were good.. different than anything i have ever had.. i highly recommend and would definitely go back..

Words cannot describe the amazing BBQ coming out of this place. Jar of bacon is a must. Pork belly is delicious. Ribs come off the bone, but hold on just enough so it's not a mess. Cornbread is delicious.

We recently moved to the area and stubbled upon this amazing place!!! If you are looking for BBQ, look no further! We fell in love with this OUTSTANDING restaurant. The food is beyond anything we could have imagined and what makes it better is that it is ALWAYS consistently amazing. Hands down the best BBQ in the world. Hoodoo Brown owns the crown! You will NOT be disappointed!

I only gave it 5 stars because I am not necessarily a diner who demands that most of the advertised menu items actually be available to eat. When we went they were out of such bbq staples as beef brisket, pork short ribs sausage and cornbread. However the items they did have particularly pork belly and beef rib were so distinctly good there was nothing to complain about really.

The food is severely overpriced and menu extremely limited. They provide you no plates even upon request as if you're at Medieval Times. My BBQ spare ribs came out ice cold and the main courses come with no sides as that's extra. All sides are 4 bucks and to share a side is 8 bucks as if customer's cannot multiply by two? Soft drinks and otherwise come in small glasses with ice unless you order just water. Although the wait staff was very polite and cordial we were told that they were out of everything we wanted to order long before the kitchen was even scheduled to close for the evening. They also try to rush you in and out as quickly as possible to increase revenue. However, I must say that they do give large portions and most of the customers take food home. I'll be my last visit for sure!

Horrible horrible horrible BBQ!!! I I ordered a half rack of ribs or shall I say a half rack of animal fat, Needless to say it was almost impossible to bite through because the meet was so tough...barbecue ribs should fall off the bone but not at hoodoo brown BBQ. I also ordered garlic Parmesan wings that took my breath away because they tasted like charcoal. Lastly I ordered the mac & cheese which in my opinion is very hard to get wrong but leave it hoodoo Brown BBQ, They Literally use Velveeta shells and to mask the flavor they dump red pepper flakes into it...unbelievable! I will say that I wasn’t expecting much considering that most food in Connecticut is dismal at best however I was beyond disappointed!!

Live almost an hour away so I only make the trip two or three times a year but boyyy is it worth it every time! Food is amazing and you will not be disappointed! My only recommendations: 1. maybe corn bread pudding? :) and 2. please update the google hours when this place is closed: made the hour trip last time because it said you were open on Google but you were standing up for a cause and closed in observance. Yay for the standing up a cause! Nay cause I ended up driving for a hour and change only to end up eating at a not so great place. Don't give me trust issues :( Still love this place :) <3

7 of us drove almost 3 hours from Boston and we were not disappointed. If this is not the best BBQ in New England, then someone needs to tell us where else we should try. Brisket, beef and spare ribs, pork belly and bacon plus chicken was delicious.

Awesome BBQ and sides! The poutine fries were loaded with brisket and are drizzled with an incredible demi-glaze "gravy". The brisket was so good, we got it for the main course as well.

If these pictures don't make you want it then why are even considering it lol, This was the Trinity table breaker, and man is this one of my all-time favorite places to fall into a food coma. Make sure to call ahead to see if they have the meats you desire because they cook till there out.

I can't believe I've lived in CT all this time and hadn't tried this place. The food is fantastic, the sauces are awesome because they really do enhance the flavor of the meat instead of masking it like some sauces do, and the service was next level. Special thanks to Becca at the front who helped us out with a large group of uncoordinated people - you rock! Glad someone at work recommended this place - now I have a nice solution when I need a BBQ fix.
