This place is vastly overrated. Everyone get so excited because they make shakes that are crazy towers of icing and candy. To be honest they look cool but the taste is so mediocre. Further the rest of the menu is poor at best. I am use to diners with big portions and great taste simple but good. Nothing could be farther from this place. My omelette was small and the cheese was virtually non existent. For crying out loud the toast on the side was barely buttered. I was told this place was amazing so my expectations were high and I was sorely disappointed. 2 stars and 1 of those is for frosting gluing a candy Eiffel tower to my shake.

A really good diner with a nice selection of breakfast, burger, salad and delicious dessert choices. Our waiter could have been better though because he didn't bring silverware to most of us and we had to ask for water refills. In general, the prices are not bad and I really liked the waffle with ice cream. The burgers were also good but the milkshake excluding the fancy look, was mediocre and quite hard to eat, especially without an extra plate.

The elm street diner was a pleasant experience. Service was fast and our waiter was extremely nice. The burgers we had were filled with juicy taste and left your savory side satisfied. The ultimate shake was topped with happiness that brought a grand finale to the meal, almost like fireworks ending the Fourth of July. In other words our time spent at the elm street diner was perfection.

Hidden awesome diner on Elm St!!! We went there for breakfast on the weekend and it was delicious!! Donuts were amazing that they make fresh every morning. Family owned, an ran. No wonder why there is a line out the door to get a table!!! It's the best!

Horrible, atrocious food here. We stopped to eat here because we were stuck in a very bad gridlock/traffic jam leaving JFK attempting to get north to on a Fri aftn. 3 of us ordered; 1fish & chips, 1 chicken parm sandwich, 1 omelette w avocado. 2 coffees and they charged us $65. We all agreed the service was slow, the food mostly uneatable, the prices high. The avocado was rock hard, the fish still frozen under the fried part, the ckn parm mushy) Someone needs to get a better cook or shut it down .

The food is exceptional quality and I’ve yet to see any “diner” on the planet match the presentation and creativity of each dish they serve. I am a harsh critic as the son of a Chef. The once ordinary becomes a spectacular piece of edible art that leaves every sense in blissful satisfaction. The family owned diner’s staff, lead by owner John and family, are attentive, caring, kind and make their patrons feel like close friends or even family. Always a treat to go to Elm Street!! Love coming here on a weekend. Sometimes the wait is too long because everyone else has the same idea, too. They really try to get people in and out so they can seat people quickly! Food is good and they have a nice big menu so you shouldn't have any trouble finding something you want to eat.

I contacted them about a group order for a corporate event, and John gave me advice about what to order. Stella opened early so we could pick up a 60 person order right at 7 am with only a day's notice, got us coffee while we were waiting (we were early), and even gave us some extra donuts for free. John checked in after our event to follow up with how it went. Great service, and everyone at the event wanted to know where the donuts were from!

After seeing the amazing pictures online I knew when I visited CT again I had to make the trip to this diner. These deserts are made for more than one person and were beyond my expectations!! The only complaint is that they wanted you to go on Instagram to see what you wanted , since I'm not on Instagram.... note to restaurant everyone is not on Instagram, we had them freestyle a desert . All in all the food was fresh and it was something you won't forget.

We found this restaurant because it was close to where we were. What an unexpected treat. The food was great and those desserts and shakes were out of this world! The restaurant was very nice inside. The customer service, however, could've been better. Even when it was slow, the server was inattentive and despondent. We mostly enjoyed the food, except for small bones in my Chicken and Waffles. The customer service is what really turns us away because you don't want to feel like a bother or burden to the employees. All that aside, it was a decent experience.

I'm not a local, but I've been following the diner's Instagram page for a while and have been dying to try it! My friend suggested it today while I was visiting and we were not disappointed! She got the Mexican eggs Benedict and I got the waffle tower. Both were unique and delicious! Our waiter was funny too and asked if we wanted dessert. Very nice diner, not your typical run of the mill.

• The service was fine for being crowded so props to that. •Breakfast is good (eggs and cinnamon french toast) - Side note: our waiter decided to add an ice tea and procisted that we ordered it though we didnt so be on a watch for that type of situation here. Besides that it's a good place to eat and the milkshakes are great.

The place was an interesting mix of traditional diner and upscale breakfast dishes. It's not gourmet, unless you count free range eggs, but it is well done. Still, it was a pricey breakfast so will probably go somewhere with regular eggs and lower prices next time

The place was very crowded the day we went. It was a Sunday brunch. People were standing outside waiting for a table. I think their milkshakes are good but the food was just okay. I ate a buffalo chicken wrap. I have had much better ones at other places. My friends had omlelettes which were not that great either. The server kept messing up our orders but I guess it's reasonable when theres a huge crowd.

I liked it however, i wasn't aware that when i ordered a Belgium waffle i was getting a plain waffle with no fancy decorations or toppings like the pictures online. My waiter said in the future just tell them anything you want on your waffle and they will give it to you.So Everyone please be Aware..Flip side all the staff n food is Excellent..Owners n Family are beautiful n so courteous..Also parking is only in the back off of Halloween Blvd...No Street parking...Luv Elm diner U have to try it out n a family friendly place.

New fresh and clean athmosphere Diner. It doesn't feel yuck like the old greesy diners. It has a very diverse menu. Pretty much whatever you want they have it! And the shakes are to die for! The lady working there was rude and unprofessional. I ordered something that was missing key elements that makes a deluxe meal an actual deluxe. While quietly explaining this to her she insisted on yelling our whole conversation for the whole restaurant to hear, then offered to take $1 off of the bill.

I love this place. I found it on Instagram. The food is delicious. I can't go as often as I would like because I live in New York and this place is in Connecticut. But I go when I can. They have these crazy shakes that are a meal themselves. We get one every time we go. The staff there are friendly and kind. They make you feel welcome in their home. Food is very good. I'd avoid on the weekends during brunch hours unless you don't mind waiting a very long time, line can be out the door long. These guys were slammed when I went and it showed in the service. Had issues getting utensils, refills napkins etc. Luckily the food was worth the hassle (mostly).

Everything our party of 8 had from pancakes to scrambles to waffles was top rate diner quality food, served hot and fast. The real story though, is the milkshakes. We ordered a peanut butter cup milkshake.. The servers are the milkshake makers extraordinaire. Is it really a milkshake when it has a full slice of chocolate marble cheesecake on top..and a nutty buddy ice cream cone on top of it, and a twice bar and Snickers bar on the side? Look at the pix for all of the rest of the fixings. OH yes.. the actual milkshake liquid was 5 star yummy.

I am in Stamford on a business trip and am limiting my food options to places within walking distance of my office/hotel. Between that and my absolute adoration for diners and greasy spoons, I was already pretty sold on Elm Street Diner. I looked up the menu online and decided it was meant to be. I stopped by the restaurant to place a takeout order. I got there around 5:30 and didn't have to wait at all for service. My order was taken promptly by an incredibly kind staff. The restaurant was clean, orderly, and quiet. I think ESPN was playing on the TV over the bar. I ordered the disco fries, which are a play on poutine--a favorite food of mine. I also picked up the eggs benedict. It comes with home fries that were seasoned with (I think) a cajun seasoning blend. It tasted like a crab boil. I got a cookies and cream milkshake and they even threw in a couple of cinnamon sugar donuts. All of the food was so good, and there was a ton of it. I have some left over for breakfast tomorrow. The donuts are already gone, though. Sorry I didn't save you any. The short, tl;dr version of this is that I will likely be going to Elm Street most days of my trip. Although tomorrow I'm definitely getting a salad.

We decided to try this diner based on reviews and the fact it was close to our hotel. We honestly did not like the breakfast. I had an omelet and it was very bland with no seasoning. I smothered my food with ketchup but couldn't finish it. I took off 3 stars off for the food and okay service. My husband ordered his food with cheese but didn't get any. They tried to charge him but he had taken a pic of his plate just in case, so they removed the charge. Maybe the dinner options are better.

I would give them 10-stars if possible. The Elm Street Diner has an incredible staff and kitchen. Wow! Everything was extremely delicious, and all of the guests have HUGE smiles as they enjoy what they’ve ordered.

Really wanted something good too much to choose from started with appetizer platter chicken wings were tiny everything else good I had meatloaf panini it was good but soggy on bottom daughter had Mac and cheese burger top gun should have been toasted more bottom was too dark and her boyfriends burger was not even close to well done lots of pink in middle they remade the burger and onion rings for him and second one was cooked well to his liking. Service was ok not like in past.

Easy to get to with free parking in the rear. This dinner has everything for everyone. The 8 of us all had a great time, we all loved our food and the milkshakes were just jam dropping.

I went to eat breakfast there with my 3 children (6 yrs , 4 yrs and 17 months old). I only had $22 cash, and since we had been in the area I decided to try the diner, as recommend by our dentist, as we live an hour away. Since I only had $22 I decided to get: 1 water (for myself) - free 2 apple juices (for the kids) - $2.50 each so $5 Hungry Man (?) breakfast plate which had 3 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 bacon, sausage and ham. ($13) Total without tax: $18 ($20.71 with taxes) So far so good. Well, as soon as the waiter realized that I would be only ordering one plate of food (he asked to make sure, "Only one?"), the expression on his face changed. He brought the food (which arrived quickly, a plus!) and left. He never returned to check on us, or asked us how the food was. I ran out of syrup and had to bother another waiter who was clearly busy doing his job. I ran out of water, but didn't want to bother him again so I just didn't say anything. I had to get up, walk to the counter to ask for the tab from a woman behind the counter. My waiter was at that very counter, packing some boxes and semi-glanced at me. When he dropped off the tab, he didn't say "Sorry" or "Thank you" or "How was everything?" It was an eye opening experience for sure. I felt very judged for only having ordered one plate of food. I was not being stingy or anything, I simply was being responsible in allocating the $22 I had with me. Customers should be treated nicely and respectfully, no matter how much, or little, food they order.
