The smell was wonderful walking in, yum BBQ. We got a sampler platter. The chicken was moist and had a seasoned, crisp skin. My husband liked the ribs. Brisket and chopped pork were tender. The cornbread: HEAVEN!! I like my greens with a smokey flavor, these did not have that. Very clean. Would go back.

I'M IMPRESSED! We're visiting from Clarksdale, Mississippi and this restaurant made us feel right at HOME! They were playing the Blues and there's nostalgic pictures all over the walls...FELT LIKE AN ACTUAL MISSISSIPPI DELTA BBQ-BLUES JOINT!! I enjoyed the burned ends with the peach bbq sauce...yes, PEACH!!! It was DELICIOUS...WE'LL BE BACK!! WHOEVER OWNS THIS SPOT...as we say in the Delta..."Yesuuuuuuuuh... you done did good!!!!" ;)

No,!! I would not recommend this restaurant to no one. The food was awful, the BBQ bean from a can, the corn bread mushy tastes like vanilla cake, the rib look like was left out for days, the chicken you can't bite into the meat, NOTHING WAS RIGHT!! I visited yesterday and 2 hours later driving home, I started getting sick to my stomach, I have to give up on the highway through up... Today I have been sick all day, same as yesterday. I have to go to Quickcare to check myself for food poisoning. Thank you Chesters BBQ for making me sick.

One of the worst dining experiences in a long while. Staff was surly, burnt ends just old brisket cubed with a dash of sauce, ribs not cut through, sauce dispensers spraying sauce everywhere including my wool shirt. I don't usually post poor reviews, but this was so bad, I thought something needed to be said.

Stopped here on the trip home, was very surprised and impressed. Super clean, friendly staff that helped us order, and the food was extraordinary. Don't miss trying it out. We had the sandwich combo with brisket.

We have been coming here on a regular basis for the past year and most visits have been great. However, things seemed to have slipped more recently. Lately, it seems that there is more fat and gristle in the meat. Today, we got the brisket and ended up getting mostly burnt ends and fat. Time to find a new place for BBQ.

I would like to give it 4.5 stars. We had the sampler for 2. Sauces were very good. Spicy peach worked well on ribs and chicken best. Seasoning on chicken was good. Pulled pork and brisket was moist and flavorful. Baked beans had a nice smoky flavor. Good potato salad. I didn't find the mac and cheese anything special. Our ribs were a bit dried out. Would I go again? Sure.

For our here in the middle of nowhere (to a New Yorker), more than passable bbq. Brisket not quite as good as Hill country but I don't know whose is. Not as fancy, but the food is as authentic as Blue Smoke. People authentically nice.

This is the kind of place we went to one and immediately became regulars. Might I suggest ordering the Pit Boss 1-4. The boneless ribs are amazing. Carolina-style is absolutely perfect if you're craving something a little more on the sour side. All the Smoked Meats are not overpowering with the smoke. While the meets are totally flavorful, the sauce is an amazing compliment. We love the sweet sauce . Also it's ready quick and the staff is friendly, informative, and attentive.

Went from Springfield Ma to the outlets. After that looking for a close by bbq place bump into this place it was trash. Food wasn't good at all and the place smelled like a musty basement

Two starts for good and friendly service. They were eager to please and cheerful. The restaurant was clean and inviting. The atmosphere was nice with tributes to blues singers on the walls and play on the radio. The food however was awful. My wife took me here for my 40th on Thursday the 27th of June 2019. We ordered the taster platter for 2, whatever its called. The ribs had a tough layer on top that was instantly recognizable as the taste and texture of freezer burnt meant. No pink smoke ring, just inedible grey meet. The brisket had great smoke flavor but nothing else. The NC pork was OK, a little over kill on the vinegar but the sweet sauce balanced it out. The corn bread was delicate (not a bad thing, some places make it way too heavy/dense), but there was very little flavor. My wife liked her chili. The BBQ sauces were decent. The sign in front says they won some awards in 2017, something must have happened between now and then.

If you like bbq don't eat here. The ribs and brisket are dry and tight. The corn bread has about as much flavor as a tissue, and the sauces taste like ketchup spiked with worsteshire and corn syrup. That being said the rice was cooked perfectly.

I can see making takeout from Chester's a regular event. Had some ribs and some pulled pork combo (little piggies) and it was great. First time it was only two of us, so we couldn't possibly sample everything, but I look forward to trying some of the other things.

Staff was very friendly and courteous. With our food, we were given a sample of pork which was delicious. My boyfriend got 2 meats and 2 sides, the pork being is favorite. All the meat we tried was all well cooked and had fantastic flavor. We loved the sauces!

Had the sweetheart dinner for 2 and the 3 little pigs. Honestly the ribs were terrible they were all dried out and tasteless could only eat a couple and gave up. The pulled pork and other meats weren't good at all. Rice and beans had no flavor collard greens unbelievably bad. Let's not even mention the service. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they were just gonna order baked beans and cornbread. The 2 ladies at the next table were in agreement Never again even if was free.

My husband and I stopped in at Chester's Barbeque because I had a gift certificate, and we ordered the Chester's Sampler for 2 and it was delicious!! We will be going there again soon to try other items on the menu. We highly recommend it!!!

Visiting CT from Scottsdale AZ and thought I would try out this BBQ spot. Everything was fresh, and savory. The brisket had a delicate smokey flavor and was fork tender, lean and cooked beautifully. Loved all the sides as well especially the chili. The service was friendly and prompt and the premises clean. I love the story of how this restaurant started and alway like to support a local family owned business. From one veteran to another, thank you and Semper Fi.

Great location in the center of clinton, plenty of space, wonderful outside seating. The sauces are great, the sweet tea is average and plentiful. The meats are the highlight. The pulled pork is juicy and flavorful, the brisket melts in the mouth, the ribs are tender and succulent. There is no better barbeque on the Shoreline

I enjoyed the atmosphere and views. I am only rating this place a 4 becuase the ribs were a little dry for my liking and the Italian sausage links were burnt and way too crispy. The price for the Chester Sampler was well priced for the food quantity. Overall it is good place to go.

Mediocre to say the least. My meat was cold and you can tell it's just being stored in a back room somewhere and microwaved upon order. I had to ask them to reheat my brisket because my sides were obviously steaming hot from the microwave/food warmer and my meat was not. Cornbread tastes almost exactly like pound cake, which is either a good or bad thing depending on how you like it. Sides were not fresh nor flavorful and I could smell the bathroom all throughout the restaurant while eating. Save your money and go to McDonald's or something

All in all everything was good, what really stood out was his chili. The pulled pork was moist good favorite sauces were good I would try again definitely up Coming. If you're on the shore in the north east you should try.

This place is to die for!! Mmm great barbecue flavors. I had pulled pork corn bread and sweet potatoes. The meat was flavorful and moist. Corn bread made me feel as if I had gone down south and the sweet potatoe mash was a magical mix of ingredients that danced upon my taste buds. The meal was satisfying over all and quite filling.

My family of 4 ordered take out: The Pitt Boss # 4. We added a couple of additional sides and 2 bowls of chili to the order. It came to over $50. They messed up the order, which we didn't realize until coming home. We took it back, and they handled it very nicely; very apologetic and gave us our coupon of 25% off the order to use the next time, in the hopes that we will give them another chance. We really appreciated that response. We really enjoyed the food, but felt we did not get much for our money's worth. We'll try it again, and order a bit differently, in the hopes of spending our money's worth a bit better. Still undecided about this place

It is their second restaurant and we went in a motorcycle ride to visit it from Southbridge Massachusetts. The back roads were great and the reward at the end was Chester's BBQ. The service was very friendly and since it was there second restaurant thats only been open for 14 months there wasn't that big of a wait. My riding buddies got the Sampler and were really satisfied, I got a Nana's lunch special and it was funny cause my wife is named Nana and they took care of us as if it was my wife serving us. The cashier when the line was clear came over and asked us if we were enjoying our me and was very friendly. Definitely going again.

Food is inconsistent. The first time we went our favorite part was the pulled pork. This last time there was so much vinegar in the sauce they put on it that you couldn't help but cough. Ribs and chicken are dry. Brisket was really good every time we've had it though

Newly opened in Clinton (10 weeks). Wife and I had lunch there today. She had brisket, and I had baby back ribs. Both were outstanding! Owners (Mr and Mrs) were both on-site - very nice people. Great decor inside. Highly recommended for BBQ.

This place has wonderful barbecue. My husband and I both had the Brisket Sandwich and it was the best Brisket I have ever had. It is a large portion on white bread. The meal came with 1 side and corn bread. We chose cole slaw.It was fresh and creamy (could have used some salt though). The cornbread was a sweet cakey version that held together nicely and was good. The staff were very friendly and informative. You can tell they have a great passion for BBQ. The whole restaurant was very clean including the rest rooms. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Due to the posted good reviews, we were convinced to try it on a Saturday for lunch for the first time. However, the food was so bad we ended up throwing everything away. We got a combo plate to try everything, but the ribs were completely made of gristle, dry and chewy like an old shoe, you couldn't even pick the meat off if you tried. The brisket was equally bad, old dried out meat, no flavoring except burnt. They dumped sauces on top to try and cover up bad meat, the Carolina bbq was just covered with vinegar to the point the sandwich bun was soggy wet and bbq inedible. Don’t waste your time or $$, we won’t be back.

For the north east in an upscale New England town, not too shabby. Doesn't have the the feel of a road side gem, but has decent BBQ and sides. I went with the two meat, two sides combo and enjoyed the chopped pork and the burnt ends. The beans and slaw were very good, but the corn bread seemed soggy and under cooked. We would go there again and plan to soon. Back again, a year later and now would increase the rating to five stars! Would say they have found their groove and look forward to going back!

I have been here a few times since they opened and finally got something other than the incredible brisket. Ordered a sampler to share and found that the chicken was moist and flavorful, the spareribs might have been a bit dry, but still very tender, and the pulled pork was delicious. Our sides were a salad (very nice), chili (good), potato salad (nice recipe), and cornbread that I thought was too sweet but my companions disagreed. However, I don't go to a barbeque place for the sides, I go for the meat and Chester's knows how to barbeque meat!

hands down, the best bbq on the shoreline. ive only had it as take out; they may have seating there, i just dont know. unlike other shoreline icons thatve gone to pot and are content to let their rep to carry them (yeah, im looking at you, cuckoos nest), this place is the real deal. of youre a real fan of bbq--not the usual broiled chicken with a bunch of bbq sauce on it that passes as bbq around here--then this is the only real choice wihin 100 miles.

Brisket was undercooked and sliced thinner than cold cuts at a grocery store . Brisket is generally sliced thin to cover up being undercooked and tough. The fat wasn't rendered down and it appears to be reheated because the meat was grey. Pulled pork was just soaked in vinegar. Probably because it was reheated and dried out also. The red hot sausage was average. Mac and cheese had no flavor. Corn bread had more of a cake consistency and tasted far more like a white cake. I hate giving this place a bad review but the BBQ was way below par. There are some good places in the state. Those who gave this place a good review obviously have never been to one or have had good BBQ.
