Delicious food and wine. Beautiful vineyard. Friendly staff.

Worst meal we’ve had in a restaurant in a long time! 2 of us had the pork shank special, and 2 had burgers. Pork shank was so dry and tough could hardly cut it. I love pork and both my friend and I were extremely disappointed in the meal (though the polenta was good). Had heard the burgers were good but unfortunately my husband and son said they were definitely underwhelming and didn’t even finish them, which is extremely unusual as both love a good burger! And it all added up to a very expensive meal.

Amazing food, views, and vibes. Burger is really good and the creme brulee is

Mitchell Feinstein

This is my second visit... an amazing treat every time!

John Forberger

First time visitor from out of state. Gorgeous grounds, pleasant staff, beautiful views, fair prices and my favorite - quiet. Went on a Monday late afternoon and no other guest was there. We had 20 acres to roam to ourselves and that we did. The staff even gave us a good stroll through the wine cellar since there was nobody else around. Definitely go!

John Viveiros

Wine was good restuarant excellent ...

Bartlomiej Gajda

Great steak, doors, etc... But they carry not one beer, cider or have any other alcohol for non wine drinkers!!!!

Tim Chemacki

Delicious lunch, great service, great wine. Petit Verdot and Malbec are fantastic if you like full bodied red wines.

We have visited Chamard Vineyards and the Bistro twice so far and we are going tonight with another couple for a date night. We love this place, food amazing, wine slushies are wonderful. The only thing negative I can say is, I have not been able to get a table outside as they are first come first serve. Maybe next Spring!

Albert Toro

A very relaxing place to have a meal. Staff is very friendly. Service is excellent. Food is also delicious.

Shadi Abughazaleh

Went for the first time last week for anniversary. Was blown away. Best dining experience we've had in years. Our food was absolutely divine, the wine selection was unique and wonderful (as expected) and the service was out of this world. First time I ever leave a 30%+ tip and it was well deserved.

Carol Walter

Wonderful ambience. Great food. Pricey but worth it.

Kevin Braun

The wine tasting was great. A lot of information on what we were tasting. Reasonably priced. We sat for a bite in the tasting room and ended up having dinner which was fantastic. The musician, Travis Winkley, was great, adding to the great atmosphere.

Aksana Kashyryna

Очень красиво и очень доброжелательный персонал.

Monika Lopez Anuarbe

Outstanding atmosphere, food quality, and selection! Great variety and creativity in a beautiful place. The service was also terrific.

Rich LoPresti

Pretty good wine, nice atmosphere with a cozy fireplace for the cold months. The tasting room bar is amazing, and the wine barrel wood work is a site to see. They also have a separate bistro on the other side that is a perfect accompaniment to the tasting room. They have estate grown grapes as well as grapes from Chile and California.

Lauren Carlucci

Chamard is a laid back vineyard on a beautiful plot of land. They have a great view from the bar room, overlooking rows and rows of grapes. The wine is delicious and you can get a glass or a bottle while treating yourself to scrumptious little plates and cheese platters. For convenience, you can order what you want to eat and drink ahead of time so it is ready when you arrive. It's always a fun visit, especially when the weather is nice and you can utilize the outside tables.

Thomas Neill

Lunch with a friend. Plenty on the plates so we were full before the end of the meal

Helen Coffey

Great food and wine

Despite the not so favorable reviews I had seen about this vineyard, I decided to try it myself this weekend. The location is convenient and lovely, but that's where the positives end. We arrived about 25 minutes prior to our dinner reservation and tried to find a place to wait. It was a beautiful day, so we wanted to stay outside. We walked down the hill and saw many cheerful people sitting at picnic tables drinking their wine, but we had no luck finding anyone that could tell us where to get the wine. We walked into one of the areas set with tables and we were told that we couldn't stay there because it was being prepared for a private function. We then walked over to another location and sat at an open table. The same server told us we couldn't stay there due to a private party. Mind you there were no signs anywhere designating the areas private. We then made our way up to the Tasting Room where we stood at the bar for several minutes with not so much as a glance from the bartenders. I eventually got the attention of the young bartender. I acknowledged how busy he was and did not express any concern about being ignored up to that point, but I did let him know that I was interested in tasting if he could explain the process. While I was looking at the wine list, he walked away and didn't return. We then gave up on that idea and decided to go see about our dinner reservations. When we got to the host stand, there was no one to be found. They eventually showed up and told us we could wait in the lounge, but we had to sit at one particular table (not sure why, the other tables were never occupied). I finally received a glass of wine and then we were seated in the diningroom. Appetizers came quickly, but dinner and a second glass of wine didn't come for about 50 to 60 minutes after the appetizer. The empty wine glass and leftover appetizers sat in front of us for an inordinate amount of time. We ate dinner quickly and left the bistro trying to navigate the unlit, unlevel parking lot. I had to wonder if there have been a lot of injuries from people walking on the bumpy gravel in the pitch dark trying to find their cars. The worse part of the whole experience happened later that night when I was awoken with horrible stomach cramps which led to about 10 hours of an intestinal nightmare. I can't prove it was the result of the dinner, but it is very likely. As other reviewers have said, this place has great potential, but the management has a lot of work to do.

Food was very good, at a pretty setting, and price was acceptable.

Johel Contreras Jimenez

A great peaceful place to have a bottle of wine and some amazing local cheese, great for a sunday date.

Carlo DeMaio

Great meal and great wine. Be sure not to miss this if you're at the Clinton outlets!

Eric Sun

Great food and service, also beautiful vineyard.

K C

Absolutely fantastic food and service

Bill Marsden

Arrived and totally ignored. We asked about tasting and were told bluntly - go to the bar - which was 'full', no spaces. Waited a further 15 minutes - no contact during that wait so we left - never to return.

Gayle Erickson

Beautiful setting, friendly staff, good food. I highly recommend this place.

Aubri Drake

I visited here on a weekend evening and could not get service. The serving staff ignored me and my partner; we weren't able to determine whether it was because we were in casual attire or because they thought we were a gay couple. We left after attempting to get service for almost half an hour. If you're into yacht clubs and are a member of the upper class, you'll fit right in.

Shawna Kerigan

Worst experience and terrible food. I had an $18.00 burger which was absolutely tasteless. Had I not been starving I wouldn’t have eaten it. My sister had the gnocchi which came with about 5 pieces for $22.00 which was an absolute joke. If you’re hungry and want to have a real meal don’t consider getting the gnocchi. And it took almost an hour for the food. Then, the waitress charged me for the wrong table which ended up being more money than what we spent. Totally disappointed and would never come back.

Great scenery

My fiance and I are frequent guests to the Connecticut Wine Trail. This past weekend we stopped by Chamard Vineyards for the first time. We were expecting a wonderful experience since we had heard they had been around for 30 years. Boy were we disappointed. I am not sure what the place has been doing for 30 years, but growing their own grapes for the wine they make sure isn't one of them. After have to choose from the 2 over priced tasting packages we went with the "cheaper" package ($15 per person for only 5 wines, the higher pack was $25 per person) The wines weren't bad however none were made with grapes grown on property let alone from CT. They had a lot of grapes from California as well as Chile. It was such a rip off. We will never be returning here and we instantly let everyone we know as well as other strangers we met at some of CT's real wineries not to visit them unless they wanted to sample overpriced Cali wine. Thanks for taking our money SHAMard vineyards.

Theresa Marko

Beautiful setting to have lunch at and enjoy a wine tasting. Was indulgent, and got the cheese pastry which waa divine!!

Christine

Delicious. Great food and the wine was excellent.

Guy Tadmor

Food is ok but does not match the price and taste of a French restaurant. Service was very good.

Steven Zimmitti

Love this place. Get the four mile burger and a bottle of Stone Cold Red and you will not be disappointed!

John harrington

Another great night at Chamards! Starting in the packed Tasting Room with Kayla. Never seen the room so packed, standing at the bar in the back we realized why the room was packed. The Vinyl Brothers were playing in the corner! These two guys were outstanding! We hope to see them there again soon. Now for our dinner experience! This is our all time favorite restaurant and we always sit at the high top tables with our all time favorite waitress, Carianne!! Most nights Carianne just says to us, “the usual “ and yes last night was the usual, 12 oysters to start, gnocchi for my wife and Steak Frites for me! We have been going for 15 years now and have never, ever been disappointed with anything! Thank you Carieanne! ❤️

Anthony Purcell

Food was very good and a lovely atmosphere

Diane Kendall

Great food beautiful setting. They were short staffed on the afternoon we visited but made up for it beautifully with great service and smiling faces. The wine was tasty too.

Mriganka Sarkar

Too crowded. Not enough space. You end up with bad service in spite of servers best efforts

Monica Claros

Excellent food, great wines, nice environment, I suggest makes reservations, they are pretty busy.

Endri Mosko

Good wine, good environment! Definitely one of the best vineyard in Connecticut!

Joshua Parnoff

Amazing food & great staff. Can't wait to eat here again!

Michael Moses

Solid dinner spot along the eastern shore. Come on a sunny or warm evening and enjoy time outside on the deck looking over the grapes. Otherwise, the inside is inviting, modern, and comfortable. Charcuterie plate is a must for any meal here, simply superb. Wines... If you are a Napa snob, you'll be disappointed. If you like wine because it's delicious and full of antioxidants, then these will be plenty fine.

James Ware

Nice meal in a beautiful vineyard setting. Great service.

Joene Hendry

Wonderful Cabernet and great bistro food.

Patricia Angeletti

Not my kind of food

Jessica Hatfield

My mother and I came here for some wine and a light lunch. When we arrived there was no one to seat us, so we wandered around a bit. Then a young man (who was super friendly and helpful) came out of a door, but was dressed in a backwards baseball cap and t-shirt. He asked us to pardon his appearance because his manager was stuck on the phone upstairs. He was super nice and helpful, don't get me wrong, but I was expecting something a bit more upscale upon walking in. The scenery was beautiful, and yes, from what the other reviews say many of the wines are made from grapes from elsewhere, but they DO have many wines on their menu that they grow and produce themselves. The appetizers we got were ok, $5 for olives and a baguette which was very reasonable but $12 for pita and dips which I thought was a bit unreasonable considering the portion size. Instead of ordering our dinner there, we decided to finish our wine and go somewhere else. But, it is BEAUTIFUL scenery upon driving in there.

Lauren Coseo

Wonderful service, great menu. Will definitely be coming back.

Steve Mayer

Elaine Chou

Beautiful vineyard view. classic French bistro foods

tom baron

Great dinner, had a party of eight. Each had a different but equally delicious dinner. Wine ok

Martha Visconti

Both the food and service were phenomenal. Gorgeous views of the vineyard.

Matt Moore

Really good food for a vineyard. Wine tasting is made difficult because they don't tell you that the entire bar is served as a group. Otherwise, 6 tastings, 1 server and sweet glasses to keep. Place is a little loud and tough to hear the server. Don't wash your car before coming here, entrance and parking area are a mess with dust and rocks...

Lizz A

Outstanding service, setting and food!! We had the hydroponic salad with beets and a divine charcuterie board! Carianne was so lovely and her demeanor made our lunch experience just perfect. We will most certainly be back!

Kerry McGill

My wife and I have eaten at various restaurants in the USA and Europe. We love supporting local businesses. This vineyard is a facade. The wine they make? Is not from their grapes. Yet in the vineyard they have signs reading "Riesling." Even the waiter said their grapes come from Chile. The food was disappointing. First we waited 15 minutes after being seated for someone to take orders even for drinks. I got the duck and it was burnt. So burnt that it was chewy and almost like jerky. The "house made" gnocchi was completely flavorless. Between both dishes there was so much salt in the food and sauces you could see some of it in the sauce! If you want an amazing meal in high class dining, go to Bar Americain. This place was extremely disappointing.
