REVIEWS OF Bombay Olive IN Connecticut

The selection was kinda small for a buffet, and all of their dishes seemed to have one consistency: cooked to mushy. There was not much walking room, which is probably even more important for a buffet since people get up and move more frequently. I know there are reasons why other cultures like to leave the bones in the meat when cooking, but I'm really not fond of wondering when I'm going to bite down and find a bone shard through my gums. A bit of Eastern taste in decor is a lovely thing, but to be honest I felt actually offended and violated by the artwork on the door handle which a person had to touch to even get in. That should have been my first clue to leave, but curiosity got the best of me. Taste, cost, and service was only "okay". Won't be going back.

Been going there for years. Today I chose as my birthday dinner. Had lamb chops tandoori, a little rare, however the meat was tender & seasoned well. Also had the bbq buffalo wings, so delicious. Washed everything down with a wonderful mango lassi. Food & service are very good. Would recommend.

Nora Niemotko

Beautiful experience. Great food and service. They make you feel home.

Cecily Yeager

Love coming here on Christmas Eve. Delicious food and attentive waiters. The decor is pretty and adds ambiance. Chicken Tikka and lamb Rogan Josh are my faves.

Will Corcoran

Not cheap but Very good food! Get to go all the time.

Marlon White

Great Taste food beyond five Stars.

Toqeer Awan

Food it customized to fit the taste for people who are allergic to spices. Food is not bad but no taste!! If you're someone who can not eat anything with flavor then perfect place for you. If you're Pakistani, don't waste your time and money because you will definitely regret it, as many of you Pakistanis have better food in your fridge. Oh and service is very slow.

Michael colón

I was impressed the first time I went!

John Jones

The food was great

Sharon Sklar

Love this place! Excellent food, can't get enough of it. The spinach is amazing. It's my "got to go there" or suffer from withdrawal.

Quality and price are excellent. Nice bar as well. I've tried several dishes now and they all were delicious. They also have their own flavor. Many Indian restaurants have the same flavor in the more popular dishes, you wonder if they are even prepared "in house". For example, I just tried their lamb curry. Darker in color than most restaurants in the area, awesome flavor. I could taste the difference immediately. I look forward to working my way around the menu.

Ranjit Poddar

Extremely bad food quality. Serving stale food. Had to leave due to food quality.

Great restaurant, good service and food comes out fast. We always have a great experience here and the food is very tasty! Kind of shocked reading some of these negative reviews because everytime I go it’s always a good experience. Either way I’d say try it for yourself and see.

Johnny Ratna

Great friendly service and clean dining. Wonderful dishes.

Yiyo Sosa

First time trying Indian food and it was good. I was always afraid to try it before, because I though all there dishes was spicy. I try the chicken and lamb over rice that was good.

Overall the food here is very good. There's a decent amount of seating in the restaurant. There is sufficient parking here for the size of the restaurant. Service is usually pretty quick, and the staff is always friendly. If I'd written this review a year ago I would give it five stars, but it seems the quality of the food has dropped just a little bit over the past year (we've been coming here since it opened, which I'm estimating is about 10 years now). It's still one of the better Indian restaurants around.

Marc Gottesdiener

always great food and conveniently located in Elmwood

Константин Весна

So tasty ! Large selection of meat and vegetarian dishes, for any preference in spiciness

If you're a big fan of Biriyani, then Bombay Olive is not the right restaurant. Haven't tasted a Biryani like that. Even after contacting the restaurant, no proper response. To the core the Restaurant manager will not speak with the customer. No idea about other foods. If you like to eat Biryani, never n ever opt Bombay Olive. I should've not given even ONE star, since it is required I selected 1 STAR. Again n Again, never n ever try Bombay Olive for Biryani.

Good high-end Indian food.

Came here for their lunch buffet, which is available 7 days a week for about $13. They have a pretty standard array of offerings including tandoori chicken, naan, a paneer-based (farmer's cheese) dish, both vegetable and meat curries, salad, and even dessert. Service is kind and attentive, but not bothersome. They clear plates quickly. The interior is, as you might assume, decorated with Indian themes, with Bollywood music videos playing on some of the TVs. I'm a big fan of the lunch buffet because it lets you try a little bit of everything (or in my case a lot of everything). Everything I tried was tasty and full of flavor. One of my Indian friends took me here a long time ago and he is a good cook in his own right, so his seal of approval is good enough for me.

Amit Kumar

Okay, food. Not the best or truly authentic to the north Indian roots.

Jelani Burrell

I kept having to go get my own refills and the buffet was never replenished. I'll not be going back.

Donna Rohrer

Good food. Slow service on a Saturday night.

Jocelyne Gural

Some of the best Indian food I've had. The staff is very friendly and pricing is decent. My personal faves are their Fish Tikka Masala (made with salmon), mango lassi, and Samosa Chaat. If you're tea drinker like me, you'll also enjoy their "Indian Tea" (chai with milk). They also have an all-you-can-eat buffet everyday from Open until 3pm.

tapas rout

Nice Indian food. Not exclusive Indian cousine.

Good Food Good Taste , Loved it.

This place has terrible service, they make you wait more then 45 mins not only for your food but to even attend to you when you walk in .. employees are very rude and unprofessional ... it smelt very bad and they had stall food sitting out which had bugs fly’s on it ..... I will not recommend this place to nobody

aarushi khera

Best Indian food I have ever had here.

Piyas Bandyopadhyay

I was visiting CT on business and came to this place. I am a desi foodie and always see how indian, nepalese, bangla and pakistani restaurants are good with the basics. I asked the server what they were known for. She mentioned persian dish or Biriyani. I wanted to see how good they were with just the basics. I ordered Goat Curry and asked to be extra hot. Loved the goat curry. The goat was very well done, nicely done gravy. The meat quality was good. Good flavor. If one thing I would have changed is to have a little bite of something in the curry like an onion or cilantro. But good curry. Please try and post what you thought.

Ashley Bautista

Lunch buffet always amazing! Great food.

akshay talegaonkar

Good indian food in west hartford. I tried their lunch buffet. Menu was well balanced food was great!! Loved their malai kofta, black dal and kheer. Compared to other indian buffets I have been to, options were limited but taste and quality was better. I would like to go there again and try non buffet service.

Jitender S. Thakur

Went there reading good reviews about this place. We ordered veg noodles and it tastes so horrible that I had to cook dinner that night. They put too many spices. Not spicy hot but mix of spices made it taste like some low quality Indian curry and not noodles. Lol

Andrew Slater

We had a great lunch time experience midweek. Fast seating and buffet style food makes this work approved.

D A

Great small family owned India restaurant. I enjoyed the food although it was a bit on the spicy side when ordering median spice. The soup was good, nothing special thou. The India food tasted good and authentic (Chicken tikka Masala). I would come again.

Nicole James

The service is great and the food is delicious. I typically order take out and i have never had an issue with missing food items or something that i didn't ask for. The food is ready when i get there and still hot when i get home. Love it

Kacy Bryan

Roaches in the bathroom and on the chairs aside from me. If I didn't already eaten two plates I would have walked out.

Guprit Singh

Very delicious, quality of food is best

Prem Kumar

Food was not really good and the hosptiality too wasn't up-to the mark. Had a feeling of eat what we serve you. Thumbs down.

Brenden Ferland

Excellent Indian and Persian. I accidentally ordered way too much food because the portions are so generous. I would highly recommend this place.

Arun Sagar

Quite interesting mix of food - Nepali, Indian and Iranian. I opted for the Nepali or Indian northeastern momos and the Persian chicken soltani (just the skewers, not the full entree) with masala tea to finish. Wonderful meal. Momos were heavenly, the kebabs so flavorful and tea was just right. Delightful friendly service.

Andrew Simmonds

Reasonably authentic curries. A little difficult to explain allergies but accommodating once communicated. Odd atmosphere bug watch out for the unstable water cups!

Deepa Joshi

Food was delicious & the service was good too.

Chris B

They are rock solid for service and top notch for quality meals.

Excellent Food, Good Service We travel 45 minutes to get here passing a number of other Indian Restaurants. Their selection is great and the food is consistently wonderful. This is by far one of the best in the area.

Bombay Olive in West Hartford CT is by far one of the very best Indian Restaurants we have ever visited, and we have visited so many in Southern New England. Everything one would expect - prompt, courteous and friendly service, family-friendly atmosphere with terrific food at affordable prices. If you are new to Indian Cuisine, I recommend asking for mild versions of popular native dishes to start of both appetizers and entrees. Bombay Olive is very much a family style restaurant where multiple generations are welcome. If you have been thinking of somewhere to take your friends and family out to dinner, Bombay Olive should be on the list.

Mukul

I liked the food taste and varieties...

Prathibha G R

Dissatisfied with the spread. Just naan & garlic naan as bread options (in the bread section) on a Sunday buffet. Veggie curry options not appealing. Veg fried rice - God save that ! Bland, veg-less, spice-less... and to top it all it's a misnomer - it looked like badly made pulao. NOT fried rice. Desserts section not good too. Carrot halwa is bad. Chaats - good.

Oleg Tumarkin

Great food for dinning or carry out

Shilpi Gupta

This is the worst food I had ever tried. Stay away from this place. I wish I could have given 0 star

Johnn Vedder

I just tried Bombay Olive week. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and the total was $15.90. I got home and was severely underwhelmed. I counted the pieces of chicken; there were about 11 medium/smallish sizes pieces of chicken, and maybe 2-3 very small pieces. The rice amount was fine . There was one piece of chicken that tasty a just a tad rubbery , but everything else tasted fine, as one would expect, I just wasn't overly impressed. I will say overly the taste was fine. My problem is with the amount of chicken, for me - it's not acceptable to pay about $16 dollars and receive such a small amount of chicken, definitely not enough for leftovers. I'm pretty sure there are better values out there for Chicken Tikka Masala to be found. I will not be returning.

Richard Stoliker

The best Indian you will eat

midhun thomas

Absolutely not recommend for anyone thinking about Indian cuisine..I personally experienced stale and tasteless Lamb biriyani ever.restaurant suffering from poor turn out and cutting corners at all extend to stay alive .pls stay away

Belinda Dejesus

Great buffet 12 to 3pm Indian cuisine gd $$ def recommend

Shanell M

It was good food just wish it was more options to pick from for it to be priced so high

Sammi D

I came here for dinner with my sister and mom and it was wonderful. The food choices are unique to the area and all made with great quality. I highly recommend the chicken balti or the Persian grill dishes! The parking is easy and the place is easy to see from the road. Additionally the wait staff is all friendly and helpful.

Ambuj Tailang

Nice place to eat North Indian food

Kids Fun Zone TV

Went for Saturday buffet lunch,13 July.very disappointed with veg main course options. Aaloo Gobi and Malai kofta were there with terrible taste.nan was only option in Roti, which was not available readily, had to wait to refill.Rice kheer (pudding) was disaster.very dissatisfied with the overall experience.

Ramesh Cl

Lunch buffet for $12 is definitely VFM. The chicken and goat meat starters were great per my non-veg partner. Not a lot of veg starters. But the veg biriyani and the vegetarian sides all tasted really good. Gulab jamun as desert was Ok. Will visit again to see if they show variety on deserts as well as vegetarian starters.

Poonam Sukhadia

Food is good but service is not so much

Mohammed Ahmed

This place used to be better then it is now. Came in with family and we waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Only half of what we ordered came, the other half he said we didn’t order. On top of that he gave us two dishes which we never ordered, then charged us for them. Worst place to go to in the area.

Robert Win

Nice place and have a lot of parking lots. Curry are so yummy and great . Good customer service.
