We have been here a few times now. The food is consistently very good and the staff is friendly and attentive. The skillet cornbread with caramel dipping sauce is out of this world. The king crab is fresh and tasty. Save room for the chocolate chip ice cream sandwiches!

Nice little place. My only complaint is that drinks are too expensive since they don't come with free refills. Try their cornbread side, you won't regret it.

Ate here about 2 weeks ago. Only thing i had that was good was the yams and the grits. The dirty bird was a joke with chewy bacon that you could barely taste on it and the chicken didn't taste good either. Would be better with just a plain piece of grilled chicken rather than the pulled chicken and some crispy bacon on it that had enough bacon that you can taste it. The poutine was disgusting. One large bowl of fries with cheese curds and gravy that was so soggy you could almost drink it with a straw and what they call brisket that you can add into it was all fatty pieces of cubed meat that looked like some of the dog foods i have fed my dogs. Didn't like the bacon bloody either. We also ordered 2 orders of wings as an appetizer and one person ordered one order for himself as a dinner and we only received the 2 for the appetizer until we were done eating and already had our food in to go containers when they brought out the order of wings that was supposed to be the persons dinner so he sent it back since we were getting ready to leave so the guy brought it back and one other person told him to take it home so he asked the waitress to have them wrap it to go and then we ended up getting charged for 4 orders of wings and when i told the waitress they charged us for an extra order of wings, she comes back and said that the manager saw 4 orders of wings go out for our table. Guess with it being busy he didn't see the one order go back and then back out so we ended up paying for an item we never got. If i ever dare cone back it sill only be for the yams.

BJ Ryans Banc House got it goin on. I had steak & carrots which was perfectly cooked. Ive never had carrots cooked the way they did...OFF THE CHAIN!!! Wife had fish & chips, she mentioned fish was too soggy. We wont order that again. Shrimp appetizer was cooked very well also. The prices was juuuust right. We will be back for more.

My girlfriend and I absolutely love the atmosphere, staff, and especially the food! This is our only spot for lobster dinner (try the pan roasted, it's amazing!!) From start to finish, this place will leave you with a great experience, and leave you wanting to come back. You really can't go wrong with this place!

This was the second time I attempted to go and had the same server he was bad the first time and worse the second time. If you decide to try it for yourself, make sure you don't get Todd. Banc House is one of the best places to go to for food and drink. What makes this place so great is the staff. The waiters are very attentive and friendly and you will not get a better bar experience. The bartenders are all very nice and they make very good drinks. When it comes to customer service they are all top notch. Most of the staff has been there for the three years I have been living in the area and they always remember your name and sometimes, exactly what you want to drink without asking. There is no other bar/restaurant I have been too where the bartenders actually introduce themselves with a hand shake and their name. What my wife and I love about BJ Ryan's Banc house is the fact that I love BBQ and she loves seafood. It's the best of both worlds so we both always have a number of great choices to choose from. Fried Pickles are amazing, Hoping John is awesome, Baby back ribs are great and the seafood is always fresh. The cooks are always willing to change ingredients to a dish if you do not want something. My wife stays away from butter as much as possible so they always change the way they are cooking the meal for her and will for anyone. In my opinion if you haven't already guessed is...A+ all the way around. Keep up the great work.

Went with friends for lunch and sat at the bar. Had the shrimp po'boy with fries. Very nicely done. Great bread they used. And the fries were perfect. A friend ordered the same but with cheesy grits which I tried. Excellent!

Every time I do takeout something has been missing, sauce, sides. But definitely, worth it, their always apologetic and work to fix the issue. Fantastic BBQ.

This place needs to make up its mind wether it is a bar or BBQ restaurant. The decor is nice. The server is friendly. But the food is not very good. For an appitizer we tried the eggrolls. The outside was hot but the pork and veggies were still cold on the inside. Which leads me to believe they are premade and either frozen or refrigerated for god only knows how long. Tge other option which makes me think the cook doesn't care to check the frier temp and it is way to hot cooking the outside not the inside of the dish. I ordered the Cuban with fries and it was not good. Placing seeded mustard on a sandwich with bad ham and the exact same pork used in the eggrolls. Same issue inside cool but the outside was slightly burnt this time. What concerned me was the waitress served me my plate and apologized! That's NEVER a good sign! She said the fries were very over cooked and if I wanted she could take them back and get new ones. If you knew they were wrong why serve them in the first place? Shouldn't every dish not be allowed to leave the kitchen until it is checked by someone? My husband ordered the brisket. Although it was not appetizing to look at it was okay. The beans were not good he had gotten for his side. It was baked beans with bbq sauce in them and a fork of that same pulled pork ontop. Very disappointed. I hope they make better drinks than food. Maybe they should concentrate on that and leave the food to the professionals. We spent $50 on half a brisket sandwich and 2 eggrolls because that's what was edible and went to McDonald's for dinner. With so many choices they are not making it a hard decision to skip BJ Ryan's Banc House.

We had a wonderful brunch here a couple of Sundays ago. The Tuna with Wasabe was AMAZING and the fried rice buried underneath it was savory and moist without being mushy. It was my third time dining here and I am NEVER disappointed.

I'm always satisfied when I eat here. The Dirty Bird, pulled smoked chicken sandwich, is one of my favorites. Their BBQ sauce is good and the prices are reasonable. The waitress was very nice and the atmosphere is that of a bar/BBQ place. There is some covered outdoor seating as well which I imagine is great on a beautiful day.

Service was good, food was alright. The ribs weren't as good as I expected them to be considering this is a rib place. A nice plate of ribs has meat that melts off the bone when you eat them. The ribs here were just alright... I would recommend the Baby Back Ribs over the St. Louis ones. But if you are going to eat here, skip all that and get the Brisket Sandwich, which was GREAT. The ambiance is also very nice here

This barbecue seemed kind of lazy. The brisket was super fatty, to the point that the majority was fat, and the St. Louis ribs were super dry, like chewy level. I will say that the hand cut, fresh sweet potato fries were absolutely delicious, and our server was incredibly friendly and helpful. I would go back and give it a try again!

One of my fav spots in downtown Norwalk! I come here pretty regularly. My favs are crabby pretzel, bacon wrapped dates, fried pickles, Cajun chicken Alfredo, and the chopped bbq sandwich. I can’t speak to all of the other items, but I highly recommend these! The staff is super courteous and the owners are often visible in the restaurant which is usually a good sign! Outdoor seating is perfect on a beautiful day or night!

The Buffalo Blue wings are THE BEST in the state, no contest. Great BBQ & seafood that is truly amazing. Awesome staff, outside seating and live music most weekends when the weather is nice. Every item on the menu is a home run. You can close your eyes and point to any item on the menu and leave very satisfied.

This place hit the spot! For starters, best sangria I've had in quite a while. Cold beer. Maryland crab cake (with the pickled garnish), the pound of lobster (stuffed), the Dungeness crab, the hot lobster roll, the broccoli, the cream spinach. Dessert! The fried cinnamon donut with ice cream and fried apple slices. (Mmmh!) We ate so many items on the menu because we went more than once during our trip to Norwalk. Extremely satisfying and the food prices were very reasonable. No fuss, casual dress, local hangout.

I came here for my birthday with my wife to get some blue crab... hard to find blue crab being served at a restaurant north of South Jersey. To say the least, I was excited! My wife and I ordered the seafood tower to start with... tower I would give a 7 out of 10... the oysters were from Norwalk so clearly very fresh but they were very dirty. The remainder of the tower was spot on. For my entree I ordered a bucket of blue crab... for starters when our waitress (who was great btw) dumped the blue crab on the table there was absolutely no seasoning on the crab... you know when you go to a place in Delaware or Maryland and there is old bay all over the place... not so much here... but you know what, I’ll let that slide - maybe the chefs intentions are to let his customers season with old bay to their liking (which they had a version of table-side). NOW let’s talk about the blue crab... when I cracked open the first crab I noticed the meat was softer than I am used to... I smelled the crab... all smelled okay so I proceeded fo eat. Taste was okay - no issues on the taste front but as I dug into the next crab and the next crab the meat was just so damn mushy! I called over the server and showed her - she was confused by the consistency and brought one of the crabs back to the chef - the chef told her the crabs were over cooked to which the server came back and reiterated to me “sir the crabs are over cooked”. This is where the conversation stopped... “sir the crabs are over cooked” I’m not one to complain but come on... the crabs are almost unpalatable and you do nothing to fix the situation in the slightest... I will not be returning and, if asked, I will advise my friends to stay away also.

I've been all over the south trying the BBQ and I'm decently surprised to find that they could compete with some of the great places down south! This place is pretty good. I think the atmosphere is the best thing about this place. There was a live duo with guitars and singing and everyone at the place seemed like family to each other. People clapped after every song without fail and it was just very inviting. On to the other important stuff. Our appetizer was the Mexican Nachos (or something like that) and they were decent. I might just not be a huge nacho fan, but they didn't seem to really be great. For my entree I had the pulled pork sliders, which really was a good amount of food for an entree, something I don't always see with sliders. The BBQ sauce was probably the best part of the sliders because the pork by itself was kind of dry. With the sauce though they were definitely good sliders, just nothing that would compare to BBQ from the south. The fries that came with it were good, but some had way too much salt on then. They use large salt here, kind of like sea salt but it seemed even bigger. I liked that and it made the fries stand out more than just plain old fries even though that's what they were. If they got the amount of salt right they would've been amazing for sure. Update: Since my first visit I've been back many times and haven't had a bad experience. The dirty bird is probably their best menu item, but the weekly specials are always good and interesting. You should definitely come here, I don't think there's a bad thing on the drink or food menu.

Came here for dinner as I was craving seafood. My boyfriend and I ordered two types of oysters. One was more decent than the other (wasn't too fresh). The buffa-blues wings were delicious and the granny's Cajun salad was spot on. I ordered the shrimp scampi but they came out with chicken scampi saying that's what was on the menu. They replaced my order okay, but there was a debacle in between with one of the waiters. It was unnecessary and my appetite kinda flew out the window. My boyfriend loved the Alaskan king crab, and we like the taste of the ribs except it was rather dry (cooked too early). Dinner was "okay" overall. I would come back for Happy Hour here though (it's w whiskey town).

This is my favorite place to eat when I'm in Norwalk! The food is always top notch...drinks are made to perfection and the service is the best ever! If you go ask to be waited on by Danish Line (pronounced Lina). There isn't a bad thing on their menu so go with a healthy appetite and enjoy!

Nice place, friendly and accommodating staff. We had a bunch of food which was all good and huge portions. We sat on the patio which is nicely decorated but the loud sounds of the train passing by kept scaring us! I would highly recommend for a quick lunch or casual dinner.

I came here for lunch with my boyfriend on a Saturday and we chose to sit in the bar area. They had a good sized lunch menu as well as specials. The portion sizes were also quite large and a great deal for the cost. The ribs we ordered had a great sauce and were falling off the bone and the sides were delicious. We managed to find parking right on the side of the street, but I could see it getting busy and people needing to walk a little bit. Well worth it however. Service was fast and our server was friendly as well.

When it's time for lunch, BJ Ryan's is one of my favorite places to go to in Norwalk. Usually, I like trying new things, but I am hooked on the lazy bacon. It really is delicious. My friend almost always gets the dirty bird sandwich, which is also great. The beer selection is good here as well. I like looking at the whiskey list, too. The staff is very nice. The seasonings and sauce in the bucket at each table are good, too. They have little wet napkins in case the sauce wins.
