This place totally was horrible. I dont know where they are winning awards but it was freezing and so was my wifes steak. Mine was warm but dry and sandpaper like. They spent all the money on the fancy house to be in but forgot to hire a chef who can cook a steak. This is the place I choose to eat for my 40th birthday and was incredibly sorry that I did. Bernard and Sarah need to go back to cooking school.

Lobster mac and cheese was a disgrace. Had no noticeable lobster. Better to have bought 99 cent package of mac and cheese at Stop and Shop. This is not the best restaurant in CT, nor in Fairfield Cty, nor in Ridgefield. Piano player is great.

My wife and I first enjoyed Bernard's for brunch when we were house hunting in Ridgefield 2 1/2 years ago, and we have been regulars ever since. The food is second to none. The wine list is extensive with something to please every palette, including many nice 1/2 bottle options. There is also a simplified wine list in the front of the book with some specials/bargains for those intimidated by the novel of a wine list. Service is both professional and friendly. We know everyone by name, and they know us and say hello even if they are not serving in our section that night. Feels like home. Each dinning experience at Bernard's has been wonderful, and doubly so around Christmas. The interior is dressed to the nines with lights, boughs, and a beautiful Christmas tree. Having live piano music skillfully played by Hank while we dine adds a magical touch that makes me wish I could have a permanent reservation for dinner. I often say that I can't decide which is better, the food or the live piano. The food is flawless; the service is impeccable; the wine cellar is deep; the ambience charming; the piano is splendid. Book a table now, but please don't book my table!

Beautiful dining room, excellent service but our meal was just "fair". We both ordered 'fresh', sauté, soft shell crabs for the main and were very disappointed. They were 'limp' not crisp, and seemed like they were likely stored in a fridge and not freshly cleaned just prior to cooking. It was a real shame as we stopped in Danbury overnight on our way home to Philadelphia, from Boston just to try this restaurant. The rest of the meal was no better.

We went for a winter holiday dinner as a group of 10 people. We went a little earlier than our reservation so that we could have a drink upstairs before dinner. When we arrived upstairs, they told us that our group was too large, and that we had to go downstairs to our table which was ready early. The food service took forever, and when the meals arrived they were just OK, nothing to write home about. We will probably not be going back.

What a wonderful dining experience. This is a fantastic French restaurant with a bistro feel. The menu has a variety of choices to choose from and the drink selection is fantastic. The quality and detail of the entres are outstanding and the service was friendly an d exceptional.

This was my first and last dining experience at Bernard's! The ambience and lovely company was the best part of the evening. Do not order the 1.5 pds lobster that's overpriced at over $50. They actually serve you a very small amount. I complained to management because our waiter said he would remove it from our bill. The manager argued with us instead of not charging us or discounting our bill. Had I known I was going to be ripped off I would have certainly selected another entree. They skimped on the lobster but served 1.5 lbs of vegetables! There's plenty of other upscale restaurants that are much better and not so pricey. :-(

Chefs are incredible. Great fine dining experience with good service in a nice setting. Service could get a little tough when it's busy. Food is excellent; the dishes are beautiful and delicious. The restaurant throws amazing events. Summer yields home-grown vegetables in the dishes. Menu changes on a regular basis. Love when the piano players are there.

This review is actually for their catering service. It was definitely a 10 out of 5 stars!! They catered a luncheon for a bridal shower and everything was amazing. The girls who catered were Pat and Gabriella. So professional and sweet. Nothing was left unattended. The food was spot on!! It was great!!

Brought an expensive chocolate cake and brought it here for a birthday we were having there later ...they poured raspberry sauce all over it which is unfortunate since the birthday person requested no fruity stuff on it. They then gave us tiny slices and then kept the entire rest of the cake. Not to mention the service was incredibly slow and the food was mediocre.

Really pretty upstairs where we were. Apparently it was the "less formal" event space. I think the whole place was pretty swanky. We we're there for a bridal shower/luncheon. The food was delicious they have a bar up there and they made great drinks. The servers were very attentive. I don't know if I'd go back just for dinner on my own considering I probably couldn't afford it. Be aware there is valet parking that is the only parking option there unless you plan on parking somewhere else and walking. They don't mention it on their website so a lot of us didn't have cash on us to tips the guys so we felt kind of bad.

LOVE ...Sarah's Wine Bar, the upstairs addition to Bernards. Can choose from a variety of small/large plates form both restaurant menus. The food has a French/America twist. Has an extensive wine list. Saturday nights have live music which is fun & nice.A definite returner.

This restaurant is "PAR EXCELLENT" It is fine dining at its best. The owners are warm and friendly people, thus reflected in the overall charm of the dining experience. everything is freshly prepared with a discernment for subtle pallets. I suggest you try this place seasonally or more frequently. Freshly baked bread offerings complemented my meal including chocolate Croissants, French bread, and Sunflour rolls with fresh mini tourines of whipped butter. Excellent dessert creation and a well balanced wine offering. I know of people who will travel from Manhattan and beyond just to eat here and enjoy an afternoon in the Parks and Shops in the nearby village of Ridgefield, Connecticut. 15 Stars out of 10!
