We hosted my friend's wedding shower here, and the place was fantastic! The food was amazing (Bear Balls is where its at). They have a really large nice outdoor area with lawn games like corn hole and large tic tac toe. And even though it wasnt applicable to us today, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was dog friendly too! Definitely recommend it!

We had a really great experience here this past weekend. I went with my wife, toddler and friends with their 2 toddlers and we all enjoyed the laid back atmosphere on the patio. It was a gorgeous day and nothing beat eating out on the patio in the shade. The food was phenomenal. I had a half rack of ribs and my wife had the pulled pork and texas sausage. We also ordered a pretzel, which was the only food item we will pass on next time. It looked like it was going to be soft but it came out hard and really chewy. Besides that, as I said, great experience and we are looking forward to returning!

Absolutely incredible. Meant to get some pictures but as soon as the food landed we couldnt help but dig right in. Delicious drinks and by far the best burnt ends I've ever had in my life. Best friend and I split the two meat combo (burnt ends, pulled chicken, collard greens and mashed sweet potatoes) plus the crispy ribs (battered and fried, fall off the bone, smokey ribs) and a side of some seriously devilish, not-too-sweet cornbread. Perfect amount of food to try a little of everything for two. Nice selection of very tasty sauces and bottles on the table so you never have to ask for extra. Will definitely be back to try the rest of their offerings and extensive beer menu. Beautiful space--intimate but spacious. The music and lighting were both at the perfect level to feel comfortable conversing without having to raise your voice. Cant wait for the summer when the garage doors open onto the patio. Great addition to the NH scene.

I found this place because I delivered their food as an Uber driver and I figured I order one day to see how good their food was.. To my surprise the staff and girl that took my order was very rude and impatient with me over the phone and very unprofessional. When I arrived to pick up my combo of ribs and brisket the food was cold and tasteless the ribs had no barbecue sauce of any kind which I specified in my order honey bbq and sour cream on side.. My fries were soggy unseasoned the ribs and brisket seemed to be prepared for a low sodium low cholesterol patient out of Yale hospital and the moink balls tasted like cardboard and reheated after sitting for days or hours.. I would not recommend this place to anyone. My dog who eats everything we throw at him was one who feasted on this $30 meal which I expected to be licking my fingers but instead opted to make me a Turkey sandwich with all the fixens at home in order to curb my disappointed hunger and taste for ribs..

First time we went and it just seems like there may be some links to work out. When I ordered, the only friendly(ish) person was the woman at the register. Ordering was kind of awkward since the menu spans the full line and you don't know if you get your food at the register, or if you take a number to your table. I WAS given a number when I ordered a liter of beer which arrived at our table about 20 min later, once the meal was done. But we saw other people carrying beer back to their tables, so not sure if there's a different place to order beer (?) All that said, the food was pretty good, and we'll definitely go back to give it another shot.

If you're looking for a fun enjoyable atmosphere to hang out, this place is great. There are 2 sections, one is a self serve for barbecue the other is full serve within the bar area. There is also an outdoor beer garden with large tables, outdoor bar, corn hole as well as fire pits and other games. Prices are reasonable for the area and the industry. The service is relatively friendly, but the place does seem to have a bit of turn over as far as staff is concerned. The food can sometimes be hit-or-miss there have been times when the food has been wonderful and other times the food has been not what I had expected. Over all this is a very enjoyable place for both groups and/or couples, with good food, televisions and a nice selection of beverages topped of with a pleasant atmosphere.

Finally, a BBQ place worth going to! I went to the Bear’s location in Hartford last year, and I was so excited to hear that they opened up a location here in New Haven. The beef brisket is out of this world, all of their sauces are delicious, and the sides were all full of flavor. We had the Mac n cheese, collard greens, BBQ beans, and sweet potoatos - honestly they were all on point!

Great counter service BBQ! I had the bear attack which is crumbled corn bread covered in Mac and cheese topped with your choice of meat. The brisket and pulled pork were tender and flavorful. If you are a BBQ fan and haven't tried this, you are missing out!

Clean, friendly and great bbq. Skip the sides and do meat by the pound. It's great reheated too. There's a lot of flexibility in the menu for picky eaters. They make their own soda, the diet is out of this world. There's regular seating and a bar area. Travis, the friendly guy behind the counter is the best. There's outdoor seating I plan to try out when the weather warms up.

Awesome new location for Bears Barbecue. The food is delicious. All the smoked meats are outstanding. Teaser, try the giant pretzel for only five dollars. The restaurant itself is bright and airy with bonus outside seating for warm weather days. Ps. Check out the bathrooms, each stall is hidden behind a wooden wall with it's own sink.

Was a little confused on how to get a table, as it was my first time there. You just grab any table you want, if its dirty, you stand by it until one of the waitresses comes and cleans it for you. The food was great, the ipa was good too. Prices not too bad. Not too friendly for the kids but a great place to hang out after work or with friends.

Nice atmosphere however the mac & cheese was cold and the collard green had more stems than actual greens. The table we wanted to sit at was dirty and when we asked to have it cleaned off it took an act of congress...I understand this is a new establishment however they are lacking customer service skills. Lastly I ordered french fries and was told someone would bring them to me come to find out they were just sitting and I had to go get them....The Hartford location is much better!

Today I went to your place to eat for Father's Day. Greatly disappointed. I waited in line for 30 minutes, only to be informed that you were out of half of the menu. I eat what you were out of. That is the brisket, pulled pork, mac n cheese, ribs. That is the main menu technically. Additionally, You were short staffed on a common celebrated holiday. I will never come back on a holiday again.

Ordered takeout and got the burnt ends sandwich along with a pulled pork sandwich. The pork was ok but the burnt ends sandwich was SO salty i could manage to get down more than 3 bites... Our mashed sweet potatoes also seemed to have more brown sugar than potato. Also, stood at the carry out window for about 5 minutes before someone asked if i was being helped yet. Very dissapointed after such high expectations after being to the hartford location where service and food were both good!

We walked into the establishment and got a very warm greeting from the takeout side staff. We was then informed if we would like to sit down and eat we can go to the door that says drinks sit anywhere we like and someone will come and serve us. We walked in and noticed a few of the tables had red Reserve signs on them. So we found a table in the back. The main room is not that big but a very nice size. We waited 15 minutes before we even was noticed by a waiter. Then the young girl says to us "oh are you guys okay did anyone come serve you"" as we proceed to tell her "no" she was like okay one minute and walked away. After she came back she noticed we were looking at the carry out menus and stated let me get you real menus and left again. She asked for the drinks and with no menus we both said water. She came back and gave us drinks but proceeded to put my straw on the table. And went to help another table. When she came back after another 5 minutes or so. I told her I would like another straw she looked at me and moved the glass and said "this is your straw" but it was laying on the table. (which they use paper straws) I said to her "well it's on the table"and she stated back "but this is yours". Then I told her "NO I don't want a straw that was on the table". She proceeded to fold the straw up in her hand as she walked away angry to get me another straw. After that I wanted to leave but I was surprising my husband with a bite to eat away from the kids. All in all the food was okay. I don't want to tell the rest, not good. But the staff at the front of the house was amazing. We walked out they were smiling, thanking us for coming, have a good night. These are the people you need to have be the staff in the main room. From my husband: The service was horrible. Liked pulled pork. Liked the fact that you have the different sauces already on the table and you could try them all. Liked the table set up. Wish we eat in the takeout part.

Beautiful new place to sit outside and order from the extensive beer list. It's a really cool space whether sitting inside or out. Very family and dog friendly. If you like watching sports with a drink and a meal there are several TVs inside, and the servers are very kind and helpful. The barbecue/food itself, however, is just okay -- I go for the drinks and the atmosphere.

Note to all, you can park on either side of the building although there is more parking if you go in the left driveway...which is marked by the big sign painted on the building. We apparently do not acknowledge such signs but were lucky to get the closest spot which also let us see the outside area which is fantastic. Their outside area has at least one fire pit along with several games of cornhole and plenty of table!! Forget that the interstate is right there...it works! We were surprising my son with 5his visit as he loves Bears in Hartford and didn't know about the new location Service was really good and the food was very good. We started off with the delicious Bear Balls. My son got his usual SuperSpud and took half home because it is huge!! The bf and I each got a two meat meal. The meats were delicious!! My mac and cheese was very good. The only losers were the lackluster French fries and a hardened apple crisp. Because of the brewery, they had a larger selection of brews but less options on liquor it seemed as they didn't have two of our go to's. No grenadine? Odd. But, we came for the food not necessarily the booze so we were delighted!! So glad Bears is only 10 minutes away now!!

The place is a bit out of the way. But it is worth the visit. Heard about this place over the weekend, figured we had to give it a try. The TX sausage was totally real deal jalapeno cheese beef sausage. I could eat that by the truck load. The brisket was pretty good, but the burnt ends are made on purpose with biggish chunks of meat instead of being trim from larger pieces. A small nit to pick, maybe, but disappointing nonetheless. The service is very cheerful, quick and much better than many other places. The place also is a micro brew, which explains why they have a $5 pretzel the size of a hubcap with a pond of beer cheese sauce. Can't wait to go back on a wddkend and grab a Fred Flintstone sized need rib. The meat cutter said they go through them pretty fast.

I had the Meat platter and my guess had the Pulled pork sandwich.. Headed over there after work last Thursday afternoon, arriving around 3:20. The staff were inviting and pleasant, aimed to please. However, the1/4 Chicken was very dry, as well as the Pulled pork! And the string beans were also dry and cold; Very disappointing as my guess gave it a rave review from previous visits. However, the Texas sausage is very tasty and the Brisket very moist & tender. Not to mention the array of choices of BBQ sauce. And it's because of the Waite staff and the Awesome vibe of the restaurant layout, I am definitely willing to give it another try.

This was a cool spot to hang out on a sunny day. They allow pups on the patio, so that's always a plus bringing my dog somewhere! However, the ordering process/bar service seemed confusing and slow in the beginning. There was hardly anyone at the bar outside which made it difficult to order without having to go back inside. The BBQ is great, and I can't wait to try something else when I go again.

We enjoyed the food. I had the wings, pulled pork and the burnt tips when it comes to the meats we also had Mac and cheese, collared greens and a pretzel. We enjoyed 80% of the food the price was decent and the atmosphere was nice. The next time we go we will try there beers. There is plenty of parking and seating just make sure you don't get out of line for food to sit at bar for full service because if there is no seats at the bar area you will have to go back to the end of the food line like I had to.

Great bbq with indoor and outdoor seating. Shaded outdoor area lovely in summer and we noticed heaters for three season use. Outdoor area great for casual group get-togethers. Lawn games kept my friend's kid entertained while we ate. DIY sauce from the bottles on the tables means you can try each, mix, go heavy or light. All the regular meats have been great. Two notes: the one thing I'm disappointed with here is the cornbread is quite dry. Second note: the poutine is Delicious but HUGE and requires sharing for your heart's sake.

The first time I went to a Bear's, I went to the one in Windsor. It was nice, not too many people there, and everything was really excellent! I love the food (big fan of the Mac Attack with Kielbasa) and overall had a great time. Fast forward to a couple months ago and now I have one that's literally maybe 3 exits off the highway away from me! Went with some friends before heading to a show at the Shubert, and the place was packed!!! Service was slower due to the packed place, but still excellent food. I just went again recently to discover they added a section where you can order food right in front of you instead of getting table service. I liked this idea a lot, since the bar side was absolutely packed with a private party going on and we most likely were not going to get quick service if we went to that side. I've always enjoyed their food and even loved it the next day as well (heats up nicely). I've always gotten the Mac Attack either with Kielbasa or the burnt ends. I'd love to go on a day that's not so busy and spend more time checking out the beers on tap. Always excellent food, and I'm glad to see they are becoming more and more accommodating for faster service since they do get crazy busy!

Overall a great place that I would highly reccomend. They have it all, a brewery with delicious craft beer brewed in house and great BBQ. They have multiple ways to enjoy it all also, there is a beatiful outdoor area with some games (cornhole etc.) and lots of nice outdoor seating, they also have an indoor bar and seating area for full service meals and a seperate grab ans go are which is setup like a "Chipotle" style line for quicker meals and self service. There is also a seperate brewery area and beirgarden as well- all of which have slightly different feels and atmospheres so it's guaranteed to suit anyone! I had a great German pilsner which really reminded me of my trip to Octoberfest in Munich last year.

New favorite go-to place for amazing food and friendly staff. The bear attack is my favorite thing on the menu which features their corn bread, with Mac and cheese, and your choice of protein topped off with your choice of thier signature barbecue sauce. With a side of peach cobbler it's even better. You have the option to pick up, dine-in and be seated by a server or order your food at the counter if you already know what you want. You can also sit at the bar if you want! The first time I tried this place was through uber eats and I loved it so much I had to go in person the day after and brought the family along.

Horrible experience! Father's day, super understaffed, over a dozen tables not cleaned causing customers to clean off tables themselves just to sit in and dine. People who wanted to dine in settled for take-out. The meat was under-cooked, NOTHING was tender. Macaroni was runny and outside dining was the same way, lots of dirty tables. Never again even on a calm day

Went May 20, 2019 with 6 other family members. Our waitress was awesome, the food outstanding. Had a great time having our meal . We all ordered something different. Thanks for the samples of meats. Love the dining areas. Will return soon.

The bbq brisket was great, but the collard greens were way too salty and the corn bread was stale - definitely things that can be improved with a little tweaking. The atmosphere is fresh and clean and fun but the music was so loud I couldn't hear my family talking. I give them credit for all the bathrooms - no line.

The half chicken & pulled chicken was extremely dry and half chicken was not cooked fully. Collard greens were way to sweet & they also forgot my cornbread. Brisket was juicy though. Macaroni was good but everything was cold. Probably would only order brisket again

Horrible service. Ordered their food through UberEats and then called after placing my order to see if they could please add some ranch/ketchup to my order (wasn’t an option through the app). The lady that answered the phone sounded extremely bothered and said “fine” and then went to hang up the phone and I quickly stopped her saying she never asked for the name of my order. Told her my name and she said “fine” again and hung up and then my order arrived with no sides. Certainly not the end of the world but their customer service would use some work.

Great new restaurant in the Fair Haven section of New Haven. Food was probably even better than the Windsor locations and a better craft beer selection. Cool airy space in a new, former industrial location with self-service, or table service and plenty of outdoor space also, though our weather isn't ready for that yet. Nick, our server, took great care of us, attentive but not overly so. We shall be back. Well done and thank you.
