This Restaurant is classified in the category of French restaurant.
Extremely delicious appetizer, main course and dessert. Great wine selection. The service is awesome. Can't wait till I go back, the food is out of this world for a great price. You won't be disappointed.
I enjoyed so much The Union League Cafe that I had to try this restaurant from the same owner, Chez Jean Pierre Vuillermet , I keep coming back to this restaurants because of their chicken specially, but everything is just simple, well prepared, fresh and so so good. Totally a recommendation in a nice ambience.
a lot of fun and good food too. can be crowded with a little too much noise, but overall a fine place
Fabulous food served up by a friendly, courteous, efficient staff.
(Translated by Google) Excellent food with French influences. Great execution of the dishes. Very well finished and with a flavor that you will remember. The environment is very friendly and relaxed. Very good treatment of all the people who work there, they make you feel at home. Of course it is a place I would repeat without hesitation.
Great great great.
One of the best French bistro's in Connecticut, if not America. Small, intimate and innovative.
Love it
Cozy with great food and service, extremely friendly staff that goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome.
Tasty small plates and classic bistro dishes. And a very nice bar and wine list.
Outstanding. Warm, elegant, beautiful setting, which manages to be upscale and refined, yet down to earth and casual at the same time...not stuffy or pretentious at all. We did not plan on dining here; we were in town camping for a few days and were dressed casually, and yet in our casual dress did not at all feel uncomfortable or frowned upon. Phenomenal French food - ultra fresh ingredients, prepared to order to perfection... an exquisite and special culinary experience. We had special dietary needs and they were knowledgeable and extremely accomodating. The owners are French, and are so warm and welcoming and sweet and lovely...the service was perfection from beginning to end...attentive and elegant but not stiff or forbidding, always warm and smiling. We were made to feel pampered and special, yet like dear old friends at the same time. I would highly recommend this gem, and we will definitely be back again when we are in the area!
I love the little restaurant and will be making it a favorite out on the east shore from New Haven. Hard on the outskirts of Madison town center this gem is tucked away just off the busy Post Road. Our food and service both just wonderful on a busy Friday night. I had the Lamb Shank and my companion had the Skirt Steak. Both cooked to perfection. Charcuterie board overly generous with a good size dollop of luxurious Pate. Escargot, heavily garliced and buttered as it should be. Go here! Reservations a must on weekends.
Another great option. I prefer Chef Roy
Terrific, near-authentic, Frech Food and the Connecticut Coast. Great ambiance. Absolutely worth a try.
Excellent dining experience. Small room packed with great food and service. Highly recommend...
Very good French cuisine in a small intimate setting
We absolutely love this place, and try to have a "date night" here once a month. The food is just fantastic, but it's also the fine folks who run the place that make you feel at home. Both of those things combined make this a winner.
Sat outside as the inside seating was all high tops and our party didn't feel like dangling our feet. Also the AC was jacked up uncomfortably high. Limited menu with daily specials. I had a lovely cucumber soup starter. The gnocchi entree sounded good but was somehow uninspired . Halfway through it I had to quit. Service was friendly and unobtrusive.
Nice ambiance, delicious food from apps to dessert!
Stopped in without reservations, and got lucky to sit at the bar (2 of us and only 9 stools). Bartender was such a gentleman. Busy as can be making drinks for all tables, waiting on the 9 stools at the bar, and still being conversational. Food was really great. Heirloom salad was a bit small for the price and in comparison to others. I'll assume they were running low. Escargot was best I ever had. Tartare appetizer portion was perfect size and delicious. Lemon chicken was simple and fabulous. Wine selection was good.
Excellent place , great food.
A piece of France in Madison
Great setting and service. Food is a bit overpriced but it's a cool experience.
Exceptional french bistro fare. Great wine list. Easily the best restaurant in Madison
French bistro comfort food. Nice people, great meal.
We had an excellent experience at bar bouchee I highly recommend this recommend the food is fantastic and the service is perfect
awesome romantic spot. very good French food. reasonably priced.
TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT!! ORDERED ESCARGOT (ONLY 5 OUT OF 6 HAD PRODUCT IN THEM)!! HAD THE FOIE GRAS BURGER--BURGER MEAT TASTED LIKE IT WAS 2 WEEKS OLD AND THE FOIE GRAS WAS RAW WITH CONNECTIVE TISSUE. INEDIBLE. TOMATO CONFIT WAS NOTHING MORE THAN A SLICE OF TOMATO HEATED. MADE RESERVATION FOR PATIO/TERRACE (RIGHT ON THE STREET!). DID OFFER TO LET US SIT INSIDE BUT WAS SO COLD I WOULD HAVE FROZEN BEFORE I COULD EAT!! AT LEAST THEY DIDNT CHARGE FOR THE SPIDERS AND MOSQUITOS WE HAD TO CONTEND WITH. GRAND DAUGHTERS FISH DINNER LOOKED LIKE AN APPETIZER PORTION OF FOOD--NOT A "DINNER" AT ALL. VERY OVERPRICED. HAVE TO ADMIT THAT THE COFFE WAS GOOD!!
Great food, great atmosphere.
Duck legs baby,
My husband and I went her for my birthday and everything was delicious! I have a number of food allergies and the waitress was so patient and accommodating with me. We enjoyed the quaint atmosphere and became friendly with the couple sitting next to us. This is a warm and friendly place for meeting people! There was an overly rambunctious man who had a few too many going on about his politics at the bar but the bar tender handled him well and the man left after a short time. I am so grateful for this lovely experience and am so looking forward to returning here!
Fantastic little French Bistro, serving wonderful, authentic French dishes in a warm and cozy environment
Immediately felt very welcomed, and was greeted with a big, warm smile, though arriving five minutes before closing. The service is top notch, and very attentive. Food is authentic, comforting and excellent. Left the bistro, giving a big hug to all who made our evening memorable. Will make this a regular place for date night with my sweet heart!
This is the best french fine dining from here to NYC ... absolutely mind blowing how amazing the chef is!! Everyone should try this place out!!
Excellent food and cocktails, and a super friendly staff. It's upscale, but not pretentious!
Very good dinner bartender was very nice met some really nice people there
A must stop in Madison. Great food.
fantastic!!
You can't do better than Bar Bouche - for food, service or atmosphere. The staff is entirely focused o your experience - they are JUST LOVELY!!!
Great food and very cozy and friendly!
Best meal I had during a week in Connecticut. Everyone at the table agreed the truffle sea bass was the star.
Just had a quick glass of Malbec with an order of frites. Nice pleasant hour with great company. Poor pour but my 'standards' are a lot higher;))
Great staff and great food
First off, great nice friendly staff and nice, comforting food. This place is like a hidden gem. Bon apitite.
Tiny French bistro creates simple, homey cocktails and food, along with a giant wine list for the tiny space. Outdoor seating in the summer.
Small, intimate French restaurant with excellent food & cocktails! The bar tender is top notch!
Excellent fillet of Duck, OYSTERS with bearnaise and steak tartare. Service is excellent and friendly. We think it is better than all the French restaurants in Fairfield County, CT. Cocktails excellent too!
Delightful dinner in a charming atmosphere. My roasted beet salad was delicious and beautifully presented. My husband's escargot was plump and garlicky. My chicken dish was homey and fall off the bone tender. My husband's branzino was flavorful and crispy. Didn't use all of our giftcard so we will definitely be back.
It's always nice to practice French when arriving. Bernaise... sauce was great when we ordered the stakes frites.. wonderful
Great tartare - over the top chicken and a charming French waitress .....
Delicious menu, small and intimate dining, popular!
Good food, good drinks! And Rodney was so accommodating. We will visit again.
Amazing little restaurant. I love how small the restaurant is. The servers and chefs put more into the food in a small intimate place like this. Great selection of wines and the food is phenomenal. One of my favorites on the shoreline!
cramped space. server although very nice couldn't or wouldn't speak about suggestions 'menu speaks for itself' that's what she said. even though I am 'old', i like hip spots. this isn't hip. I was expecting more
Fantastic food: soup, salmon, trout, lamb, steak, profiterols... 4 of us enjoyed a great meal. Very reasonable bottles of French red. Nice, warm atmosphere. A very fun loving and knowledgeable server.
A beautiful experience remenicent of a quaint Parisian bistro. Excellent service, exquisite cocktails and deserts to write home about.
What a great place and what great, accomodating people! This was our first time here. We were late for our reservation and although it was Friday evening, and they are not a very big restaurant, we were able to sit at the bar and eat. That was a treat, as the bartender/server was very professional and had just the perfect level of friendliness. We watched him make some very unusual drinks and could see that he was a mixologist perfectionist. The bar seems well-appointed with good and unusual liquors. We had a scotch, then a half-dozen Wellfleet oysters on the half-shell. She had Salad Nicoise with Mahi Mahi and I had the pork chop special. The pork chop was succulent and tender and came with an unusual mix of "burnt" artichoke hearts, mushrooms, shallot and cream. The hearts were quite brown and very nutty flavored and delicious. It really added something special to the dish. I cleaned my plate! We had the desert special, a strawberry tart made with milfoy-like thin layers of pastry and a creme brulee style custard. Excellent! We will definitely go back to this little gem! The restaurant is fairly small. The outdoor seating was tempting. Make reservations the day before if you don't want to compromise the time for dining.
Bar Boucheé has a special abiance that will keep me coming back over and over. Not only is the food of the highest quality and flavor, but the staff and the decor make this a really magical establishment. Bravo!
What's not to love about Bar Bouchée? The "sister" restaurant to New Haven's Union League (my understanding, not an iron-clad fact), Bar Bouchée is smaller, definitely cozier, sometimes a bit loud, but always outstanding with respect to both cuisine and service. In many if not most ways, this has the feel of a classy, authentic French bistro. If you really don't want to sit at a high table next to other guests, this probably isn't the place for you. If you want to enjoy world-class cuisine prepared with consummate subtlety and artful preparation - in jeans - at a price point that no other restaurant on the shore can approach, look no farther. Bar Bouchée does not disappoint.
Incredible food full of taste in unique combinations. The nicest service. Great atmosphere outside, under the umbrellas. Peaceful and exceptional.
The best restaurant in Madison, CT hands down! We live in Manhattan, have traveled the world and consider ourselves foodies. My husband grew up on Madison, and frankly, we always felt a lack in the culinary arts in the area. Bar Bouchee is hands down the best restaurant in Madison, CT. We were so impressed that we asked to meet the chef. His name is Jeff Cave and he trained in NYC for 10 years, including under culinary genius David Bouley. No wonder! Our meal: escargot, duck with fig compote on top of a water cress salad in a shallot dressing, steak tartar and lemon parfait. Our wine was a Gigondas 2008. All wonderful! My husband looked at me and said, "Pinch me. Am I in Madison?" The hostess and our server (a local teacher in the area) made us feel like family. This will now be now our go- to place when we come visit. Bravo Jeff! Connecticut is lucky to have you.
Excellent food, but pricey
One of my favorite restaurants in CT! We always sit at the bar, and the bartender creates his own cocktails (seasonal) and he gets super fresh ingredients from locals! So good!!! My personal favorite food item is the Escargot app! Amazing!!! In shells, with persillade butter! My mouth is actually watering writing this review..tmi? Lol. Check this restaurant out!!!!
Absolutely fantastic meal, better than Paris!
Quality Steak Tartare and delicious Beef Bourguignon
