Nice place for a delicious Indian meal. You have both buffet and menu options. There is plenty of seating. You can choose from indoor, hallway with the view of valley and river and outdoor patio seating. Plenty of parking. Friendly staff and good food.

Buffet is always fresh and they always bring you fresh made Naan bread and dosa with that. I wish they opened in other places too!

Lovely place. Very nice setting with wonderful windows and views. I went for the lunch buffet on a Saturday. The food was kept nice and hot. There was a great selection of some old favorites and some new dishes I have not had a chance to try. I really loved the serve yourself chi tea which was incredibly yummy! I am so happy the valley has this gem.

I came in after 3 and asked abput the buffett. I didnt want it cause obviously it was old. So i ordered from the menu. I no longer can eat spicey food so was nervous...the food was perfect very flavorful. I even was able to practice my Hindi as I had learned it years ago when I lived in India. So the people were very nice and taking care of my dietary needs. I would recommend this place. Dauwaad

Totally Disappointed. Was here for lunch buffet. Too many issues to list. Tandoori chicken served might be two days old, it's supposed to be juicy and tender. But these were food color drenched and hard to chew. Chicken Tikka masala definitely seems to be made from bottled gravy sauce, which can be easily identified by that disgustingly sweet taste. Basic Indian buffets are supposed to have at least one type of biryani. Nope, there was only basmati rice which I also doubt was made that day. Papad are supposed to be crunchy, these were soggy. Desserts were really bad too. Kheer was even bad to look at. And I was disgusted when I tried eating Gulab Jamun, they are supposed to be soft and very tender but these were really bad. They looked like Styrofoam balls or packing peanuts, just brown in color. Also plates and spoons weren't even clean and restaurant has a messy layout. I have been to many Indian buffets, these was by far the worst. Never again I would come back here and I wouldn't recommend to any of my friends.

They were so friendly! My first call to place a takeout order went unanswered and I received a call back and an apology that my call was missed. The samosa chat, goat curry, and lamb biryani was delicious! Will definitely be ordering again.

In general, food is OK. The curries are basic Indian fare. However the tandoori shrimp and chicken wings were horribly overcooked. Dry and bland. I will be back for the curries but never the tandoori dishes.

We just had our Diwali gathering with over 70+ guests and the staff was awesome. The place is spacious and very accommodating, the staff was helpful and responsive. Food was amazing. Overall wonderful experience and will definitely recommend their patio place for parties.

My friend and I very much enjoyed the food. As the reviewer above stated, you have your choice of spiciness which is a plus. When we first walked in, the air was filled with a very strong spice and our eyes immediately started watering and we started coughing with a scratchy throat feeling. After we were seated, 3 women entered and immediately started coughing, eyes watering, then one by one, everybody in the restaurant started doing the same thing. The best part was, we ALL had a really good laugh! Food was great, had fun!

I have eaten at this restaurant and gotten takeout for my family as well. Quality food, always fresh, nice setting and even a view of the Housatonic River. Check out the buffet hours. They have outside seating that I can't wait to take advantage of no that the weather is getting better. Owner is very nice and accommodating. He definitely takes pride in his restaurant.

Love it. Very beautiful place to sit and eat. The back of the restaurant is a wide open space and has windows facing the river. I hope the prices don't go up anymore though!

Passing through CT, was in a mood for Indian food, so I googled and this amazing place came up on my search...Wow.....the food...atmosphere....ambiance....and the Water View....no words to describe how great it is! Food also very fresh and delicious. Bar personnel recommended Taj Mahal Beer (never had indian beer before)and it was a excellent recommendation!

Too much Garlic on menu items......Buffet O.K. Initially went in for buffet meal, which was pretty good/O.K. - it's a buffet can't go wrong. But went again for dinner and was displeased with food, orders 5 different items and was all terrible. I didn't want to stay and dispute food - I would recommend for buffet only, then again a Chinese buffet has more variety, for less $.......

Love this place, never thought I'd like Indian food, but they offer to prepare it at any level of spice you'd like....we love the thin crisp snack bread they give you with the 3 sauces while you wait....staff very pleasant and food is delicious! And they offer good rice pudding at the end of the meal for no charge.

Wasn’t really worth what we paid. Had it delivered and one dish was much colder than the other. Found several small, easy to choke on bones. It was our first time trying Indian food so I won’t say anything negative about how it tasted because it probably just wasn’t what we’re used to. $14-15 for an entree with nothing else isn’t worth it.

Great place for lunch. They have a great buffet that they rotate, and it is quick and cheap! The staff is always very kind and welcoming, and the restaurant has a nice view of the river. They could do better in terms of labeling what is and is not vegetarian/ vegan.

The food was delicious and the service was friendly and attentive and the best part the bill was reasonable for three. We went there Sunday for a double celebration; a birthday and Mother's Day and it did not disappoint. All the dishes were wonderful and their ginger martini was on point. Baigan is the only indian restaurant in this area, and we have been here multiple times. The staff and service is good. Menu items like curries, daal and breads are decent. But some of the things can be avoided, especially Indo-Chinese. In some of our recent experiences, the imli chutney they served had a weird metallic taste. We ordered paneer hariyali, and omg, was it GREEN!! I just could not get over the psychedelic green color and if you thought it cant get any worse than that- it was tasteless and had way too much oil. Lasuni gobi and gobi manchurian were sweet and oily. Their “Hakka noodles” are more like vermicelli noodles. Veg fried rice is just BAD! Baigan has the advantage of a great location and the fact that the restaurant has so much potential, it is rather disappointing and disheartening to see the potential being wasted.

Most importantly, the food at Baingan is definitely bangin'. The buffet includes a good variety of both vegetarian and meat options, desert, and tea. The garlic naan is fluffy and warm and perfectly delicious. The restaurant includes a lovely, bright dining room overlooking the river. Indian music videos play on a television above the fireplace. The staff is attentive and friendly, making the visit an all-around great experience.

Last Saturday, I ordered l a chicken biryani through Uber Eats and it was terrible. The rice was under cooked and had literally like three pieces of chicken, I was disappointed to pay what I paid for this kind of food. I have tried that rice before in Norwalk and I can tell the HUGE difference. Besides, the Uber driver was complaining that they were taken too long to have the order ready.

Tried a lunch buffet over the weekend. VFM for $12, especially for the non-vegeterians. The goat curry needs a special mention for awesome taste. Vegetarian spread was much better in 'bombay olive' restaurant that we visited recently. Here the sambar, chutney, veg hakka noodles and jamun were all - just ok on taste. Not a lot of other alternatives to feel VFM for vegetarians. Serving dosa as part of buffet was good though.

Has a B grade from the health dept. when we asked why, the person just shook his head and shrugged it off. Food was mediocre - chicken was chewy, bread did not seem fresh, noodles underdone. Much better options nearby in Orange.
