DO NOT EVER EAT HERE! I Work nights nearby and there are not very many last minute options for dinner, so I decided on this place one night a couple of weeks ago.To start things off they didn’t have any menus with prices only their catering menus I didn’t have much time so I just decided on the first thing I saw that peaked my interest, their brisket and mac & cheese.unfortuanatly The mac & cheese was dry and flavorless and the brisket was nothing but a huge hunk of fat, the very little bit of meat attached to this hunk of fat was rubbery and completely inedible. To top things off the piece of cornbread that came with my meal was completely burned and black. I honestly don’t know how anyone in there right mind could have served something that looked like this and somehow it cost me $12? DO NOT EVER EAT HERE! Note this businesses unprofessional reply to my valid review, it really tells you everything you need to know about how this unprofessional sad excuse for a restaurant is being run...

Hate leaving reviews like this because everyone at this place seemed nice but these things have to be said sometimes. I was told there would be a half hour wait for my order which was fine. The half hour wait turned into an hour When I got my order, the sides were wrong. My chicken was not cooked all the way and still pretty pink on the inside. I brought the food back to the restaurant. They corrected the issue but when I got my food back, one side was still wrong and I was missing another. I don't know if there was some kind of miscommunication but over all this was a pretty poor experience. Food was alright, nothing to rave about Good luck

Not sure what happened today with the taste of the food, maybe it was what I got today but the first time I went a month ago I got the mac and cheese, yams and fried chicken which was very good. Today I got the pulled pork, mac and cheese and yams and what a difference. The mac and cheese was very salty, the yams had too much allspice or something in it that tasted like pine and the pulled pork tasted like it was sitting in vinegar all day. I don't think I'll be returning.

My son and I were driving from Maine. to Virginia and wanted a good place to eat. After reading reviews about Aunt Viv's we decided to backtrack several miles to try it out. It was well worth the drive. Not only was The food excellent but the service was also outstanding. The owner was there and was such a lovely man. The catfish was the best I have ever tasted, The greens had a surprising kick and my son loved the pulled pork with fries. This place is a hidden gem.

We are so happy to have such a nice, authentic home style meal available so close to our home!!! I don’t find the prices expensive at all, good quality food isn’t cheap. If you want cheap fast food go somewhere else...this place might take a minute to get an order ready but they are so busy and friendly that I don’t mind. You get what you pay for, and we hope that other people will help this business keep going for years to come!! Their bbq sauce is outstanding as well! Very disappointed I'm a true foodie this place I would never recommend or patronize again I purchased the one meat three sides combo and when I say the greens and mac n cheese was extremely salty the yams were disgusting. to add insult to injury the corn muffin they give u when I pulled it apart had fresh flour in it!!! they give you 1.5 pcs of fish for 14.99 plus tax very disappointed this is not true southern cuisine! Drive by don't waste your money,time, or blood pressure going up on this salt box fraudulent soul food!

I was surprised by this because I've been to this place numerous times before and never tasted the Mac like this. I couldn't eat it, unenjoyable and wasted money. But other than that the sides and whiting is good. I also enjoy there wings! This is a great and appreciated soul food restaurant that was well needed in this area. There's not a lot of good and non expensive soul food places near by.

I place an order to go and I wait 45 min to get 3 pieces oh wings and fries . There was only one customer ahead of me and they also were upset. On top of that I they are over priced. I pay $11.00 for 2 orders and they weren't that good. I personally not coming back.

I've done the two meats, two sides takeout twice. Everything is ambrosially melt-in-the-mouth cooked to perfection, and there's enough for lunch the next day. Collard greens, broccoli slaw and mac and cheese are the best, and every meat is cooked by one who loves the art. Someone has also taken the time to create a music compilation of my favorites, which adds to the friendly and inviting atmosphere. Guys, get a Yelp page - you have the stuff that will consistently get 5 stars!

I've tried this place several times now. The owner is a nice guy and loves his cooking. Staff is friendly. However I will say I'm disappointed in their service, food quality, and prices. They charge an extra 3$ for certain meats such as catfish, brisket, and ribs. The sides are too small for the price. I believe a small side is 5$. They charge you extra for brisket however I'm not sure why because often it's served with little meat and it's mainly all fat. The catfish is definitely tasty, but you're charged an extra 3$ and the last two times I got it there was just one small fillet. I haven't had their ribs to comment but my friend enjoyed them. Be mindful of your order. They have forgotten items on me 3 out of 7 visits. Not fun when you live 30 minutes away. You should receive corn bread with your meals but they usually forget it if you don't remind them. A meal with 2 speciality meats and two sides with easily cost you nearly 25$. I don't know about you but I find this to be a bit pricey for a take out meal. The people are nice but wow don't expect to get in and out of there. Only once out of my 7 visits was it quick. Expect to wait. They are slow and order way in advance if you're working and ordering lunch. I ordered food prior to work and was told it'll be 15 minutes. Well I arrived 20 minutes later and I still stood inside for an additional 20 minutes. There were two other people in the place waiting for food. I'm not sure what they would do if it was packed! Order way in advance watch your order and request less fat if ordering the brisket. And it's not a place to go if you have kids to order for too. It would run you a pretty penny. This last visit really annoyed me and I'm probably not going back. Dickeys'- franchise- brisket is much better.

I love the atmosphere, clean and well kept. But the cashier is not ready, I actually tried to help her make a sale because she knows nothing about cabbage, gravy, collard greens. I have had a couple bad experiences with this place. They frequently don't have the dishes listed on their menu. We used a comp to make up for a bad experience and the meal was not good and we waited for two hours for it not to mention that they didn't get the order correct. They were not organized at all. My homemade tastes better.

Found great barbecue and a nice family operation in Connecticut! Aunt Viv's may be just a storefront but the good is wonderful and the staff - related to Aunt Viv! - couldn't have been nicer. Brisket was wonderful, bbq sauce, which they make, is flavorful and tangy without being too spicy it overwhelming. We'll be back!

Haven't tried your restaurant yet but I'm hoping for great fried chicken and collard greens. What about Hush Puppies! Finally stopped by for my fried chicken and wasn't disappointed. Wish you would add chicken breasts though as an option. I would have been more than willing to pay extra for them as the wings were so good. I've read the other reviews and I'm surprised not to see anyone mention your peach cobbler. I've had peach cobbler up and down the eastern corridor and yours is by far the best! Add the chicken breasts and I'll give you a five star rating!

The ribs were completely burnt, completely inedible. The food was without taste. I never ever write review because sometimes we have bad moments. But to serve food to anyone you have to pick it up and serve it is unacceptable. Would never recommend. And all those giving high reviews have bad taste buds.

Ordered takeout here. I paid for my food via debit card. When I walked out of the restaurant, before getting in my car, I noticed I did not have my debit card. I walked back in and the guy that took my order was not there. The other man working said he did not have my debit card and the other guy had to have gave it back to me. I looked in the parking lot to see if perhaps I dropped it. It was no where to be found! I knew I had left it in the restaurant!!!! Well, a few hours later, after the restaurant was closed, my card was charged at Walmart, target, and Walgreens!!!! These are just the facts. You do the math! I am having the bank and the police look into this matter.

Im very picky about eating other people's soul food. Usually, my family and i only order from New Haven's Sandra's and Mama Mary's, but i purchased gift certificates from my job for Aunt Viv's...the sraff were very friendly, clean business and geat gospel music. Unfortunately..the food was so-so. I appreciate the cook coming to let us know there was a wait on the mac & cheese which was fine, but it didn't have enough cheese...i ordered chicken, white meat unaware they don't cook breasts. My daughter ordered ribs and she stated they were burnt with charcoal as though they were grilled. The food wasnt the best, but i will definitely give them another try...EVERYONE HAS A BAD DAY...(p.s...i'll be happy to make ur mac & cheese..i make a mean mac & cheese) Great prices though!!!

Food was not as described. 3 small pieces of soggy Whiting fish, French fries not crispy, potatoe salad bland, banana pudding, no cookies or bananas in it, it was basically scrapping of the bottom pan. My total was over $20.00. I asked for a refund. My server had no clue as to how banana pudding should look or taste! All soul food is not good food!

Google really needs to add a zero star function because that is how I truly feel. This place is absolutely disgusting and a disgrace to southern cuisine. To add insult to injury, the staff is extremely unprofessional and rude. I can't think of a place that takes over an hour to prepare tough, under-seasoned, and soggy chicken wings that are fried in 10 day old oil. Also, "Alabama Dirty Fries" that are completely soggy and covered in engine oil aka "barbecue sauce." The pulled pork that was ever so gracefully strewn about soggy fries, left little to the imagination in which it lacked in flavor altogether. At this rate, the days are numbered for how long this place will remain in business. In fact I can't imagine how this place is still in business. I want to keep supporting my people in any way that I can and I am happy to see businesses owned by people of color. However, there are many checks and balances that are not being addressed here. Customers should never have to wait over an hour for food that is by the vast majority precooked. The food should at the very least compensate in flavor which was quite the contrary. Aunt Viv's falls short in almost every area and I will NOT be recommending this place to anyone. The only nice thing about this trip is that a trash can was conveniently placed close by the store in which I proceeded to discard of the heart attack on a plate I was served in a cheap styrofoam container.

This is a great family run restaurant. I had there pulled pork sandwich with homemade barbecue sauce, broccoli coleslaw and banana pudding. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious. The service was also very friendly. I most highly recommend Aunt Viv's, go visit her!
