This Restaurant is classified in the category of Restaurant.
Andrea the bartender we had was/is AMAZING! Best mixologist I've seen in quite awhile with a great personality as well. Thank you for taking care of us Andrea! We thoroughly enjoyed your drinks!
We went back a second time. We've had nothing but everybody at the table very happy. This place has a great vibe. The front desk and wait staff are very helpful and friendly. This last time we had a party of 8, so it's great for a date night or large party. We will come back
Interior is nice, spacious. Not terribly interesting, but nice brick interior and high ceilings. The staff was attentive and friendly. Felt a little pressured to move ahead with our meal at first (ordering mains), but that eased and they adapted to our dining pace (more drinks!). Tasty cocktails and our wine drinking partners loved their options. Everyone loved their food. My pork chop was outstanding. Little gem salad was good, but common. For vegans, a bit short on options, but decent for vegetarians. Overall liked, but shy of five star.
They pour ‘em nice and strong. Service was friendly and fast. You can’t go wrong with the margaritas.
Great food in well lit modern building. Food is all farm to table. Tried the spicy chicken sandwich with fries and homemade ketchup. Was really good.
What a super waiter from England .....
Hands down the best high end restaurant in Boulder. Locally sourced dishes, comprehensive service, and the cutest bar upstairs. Would recommend to anyone. Be forewarned, you will be spending at least 100!
Great food but too noisy to have a dinner conversation. Loved the tuna ceviche.
We were in Boulder as a central meeting spot for our birthdays. Friday night had been dance night and rather than try to match it in Saturday (tall order), we opted for a nice dinner and cocktails. We ate downstairs (lots of small plates that were very good) and finished the evening upstairs where there was an interesting and late crowd. Lovely night! Heard all kinds of reviews from friends both locals and visitors from home. PBG!. They were correct in stating The Kitchen as a must; for a terrific Boulder meal. Enjoy dinner with friends or just your lover...and the lamb. Even lunch can be magical on Pearl.
Awesome downtown Boulder location, friendly knowledgeable staff, great menu options. A must visit when in Boulder
Great place to take out a date, really good food, and might even be the best in Boulder. If they do not have a table for you to reserve, there is always a spot at a community table ( witch means someone you don't know might seat at your table with you) or the bar. This place is pricey! But well worth the money. The menu chances a lot, so if you find something you really like, I'd suggest stuffing your faces with as much as you can before it goes with the wind.
Trendy and good. Hipster and expensive.
Excellent food great liquor selection
A truly excellent experience! From appetizer, to exquisite drinks to amazing entrees... Everything delicious. Service was superb. A new favorite!
Great food. 7/10 service. I would go back.
I arrived solo on a Friday evening hoping to sit at the bar which was already full. The hostess was most gracious and offered me a small table for two that would be opening up within 15 minutes. I was texted within that time and enjoyed some wonderful oysters and a brilliantly prepared organic roasted chicken. The wait staff was very attentive and the meal was very enjoyable. I was most impressed by the hostess who could have very easily said there was no availability and saved the table for a couple rather than a solo traveler. Looking forward to return the next time I visit Boulder.
Wonderful staff, great food. Wholeheartedly reccomend!
Incredible experience – the food was spot-on, the service blew our minds (in a good way), we left with smiles having just had the best dinner in recent memory (or perhaps ever). Everyone from the host who sat us, our server (Megan?), staff who suggested our wine pairing, the bartended who made our espresso post-dinner – was helpful, genuine, down to earth, and most importantly – seemed truly happy to be there. The way it should be :) We ordered a tomato salad (the tomatoes and watermelon tasted like they were picked from the garden that day), shrimp hushpuppies (nailed it with the sweet chili sauce and breading), salmon and cod for our main plates (both were very well done), and topped it off with a chocolate chip cookie for dessert. Thank you to everyone at The Kitchen – FOH, kitchen staff and management for such a wonderful, refreshingly perfect night out. Only places that compare for a sit-down dinner in Colorado that we have experienced are Mercantile and Fruition in Denver. Perfect, perfect, perfect – we'll be back soon! Thank you all.
Always a treat when we're in Boulder.
Great bar tender nice atmosphere
Expensive but so good! Lamb burger with fig and goat cheese whaaaaaat? Yes. And sweet potato fries. Don't tell my trainer. Worth every calorie!!
Really good food. A bit pricey.
american food... my favorite treat. Everyone at our table was enjoying everything. I had a cousin come into town and she asked me to go back here. Bring your appetite because portions are generous. This place has many good reviews for a reason.
Good service and lovely atmosphere! Like the review said previously, we were at by the window. It was a lovely day and the sun was shining on our table. Yes there was a cool breeze but it was 50 degrees outside so we loved it. My wild mushroom, gluten free sandwich was lovely. The sauce was a rich mayo which was just in the border of a little too rich but mostly it was indulgent.
Great servers, delicious food.
Good food, fantastic service. Go see for yourself.
My girlfriend and I had brunch here recently. The food was so fresh and delicious. I felt like the prices were fair, considering the quality you receive. Also, the orange juice was fresh-squeezed and coffee was fresh-brewed!
Very nice meal. Great variety and flavors.
There is nothing I don't love.
This place is amazing, not only is the food top notch the staff is unbelievable, Steve was the best I've come across in a long time.
Elvis and I Love this place!
Tried the Upstairs lounge out for a HH and it was fantastic. The place was packed but the service was quick and attentive. The food was phenomenal, no wonder it is so popular. Will go back many more times!
Food was not something I liked but the staff was nice and atmosphere was nice. I tried it once, not again - expensive!
This is a world class restaurant. It's just that simple. Great (I mean, really great) food. Not cheap but, not stupid expensive either. Excellent service, great environment. It's one of the 'you must eat here' places in Boulder.
It was okay. Service was meh but the chicken sandwich was great.
Tasty food. The meatballs were delicious.
Tasty food but a bit pricey
the mushroom sandwich is to DIE for!!! and their grilled chicken is some of the most tender ive had making the chicken goddess salad with beets one of the best salads. there is so much thought placed behind the flavors and menu. if i lived in boulder I'd eat here all the time!
Came here for my wife's bday lunch... She went hi-brow and had the tuna ceviche and a negroni while I had the happy hour double cheeseburger and oatmeal stout. Still a stellar place (and showing up for "lunch" at 3pm meant we got our sidewalk seat & a show too!) My only complaint is that it's hard to get into this place usually!
This place was recommended by an employee at one of the local shops and we're glad we went. The food was amazing and our waiter Bryce was awesome! We had a one year old with a stroller, and they were very accommodating. We ordered the kids plate (very healthy options), guacamole with chips, and each had a bowl soup and grilled cheese sandwich. So good! We'd definitely be back next time we're in Boulder and would recommend it to anyone wanting fresh, flavorful food!
Had the most amazing night, with fantastic food. Absolutely amazing workers and flavors beyond your belief!
The kitchen is legit! Great food for the value. I always get my money's worth and never leave unsatisfied.
We arrived just after the restaurant opened and could easily see open tables throughout the restaurant. The hostess still sat us in the first table next to the door. We had a cold wind come in every time the door opened and the guest coming in to speak with the hostess were crowded next to us. We were moved to a better table after asking but it should never have happened in the first place. The service was fine, I felt the starters and sides were more interesting than the main dishes so I order a few of them. Really enjoyed the roasted beets with bacon and blue cheese along with the tomato soup.
Excellent food and excellent service. Worth the price for a nice occasion. Half chicken and the pan seared salmon were absolutely perfectly cooked. The chicken was a great size meal, but the salmon was a bit small. They could've thrown some more vegetables in to make the salmon meal more complete. Wait staff was extremely attentive. Would absolutely recommend.
Excellent food and service, I will definitely be back.
This used to be my favorite restaurant in the world. Literally. When they first opened, I would come here for just about every special occasion. The last few times I've been back however, the quality of the food has gone down overall. The previously daily rotating menus are now seasonal, and the communal dining experience they used to offer on Monday nights is long gone. It's still a decent New American restaurant, but the delight of the early days has sadly past.
awesome !!! love here.
Delicious food, cozy atmosphere. Got this recommendation to dinner here randomly and so far it's the best meal we've had in Boulder.
We had a good dinner before the Boulder Phil performance of David Bowie this weekend. While parking was tough on a Saturday night, we found the service to be excellent, the restaurant very accommodating to a small schedule change, and good food and beverages. The wines were especially good, and the restaurant was not too loud to have a good conversation. Dinner was efficient, got us out right on time. The pasta bolognese was especially good.
It was ok
american food... very delicious. Food was super flavorful. The service was friendly and sociable. Prices are decent.
They haven't updated the menu online. So thought we knew what we could order. The steak was not good which is off for them. It's usually amazing. The service was perfect like always
The Kitchen has been my favorite restaurant in Boulder since I moved here a dozen years ago. They've made some changes in the last couple of years, but honestly, the service and bar are still the best in town!
Great service, clean and pleasant. Was in for brunch. Nice uncomplicated menu with some good GF options. Only complaint was that my eggs were pretty cool when they got to me
So delicious! Awesome interior with an open vibe. The food was perfect and the staff professional.
Amazing, local, fresh, and outstanding customer service! I highly recommend The kitchen
Whoahhhh. So good. Delicious food and cocktails! Fun atmosphere with really good music.
Super friendly staff, and good food!
Farm to table, the salmon with leaks was just fabulous. Also try the gulf shrimp hush puppies they're delicious!
Super cool atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious food.
Nice site for quality american food. service is always prompt even when they have a full house. the staff was very sociable and kind. the bill was good for what you get.
Attended to my allergies with aplomb. Great service.
Everyone was fantastic and the food and wine were delicious. From the brunch menu, we loooved the shrimp and grits (fantastic! I’d recommend straining the shrimp oil a tiny bit more but absolutely delicious regardless), the modules frites (also very well done), and calamari (great spicy-sweet glaze). Shrimp tacos and sautéed greens were both also very good but not finished unlike the others. Highly recommend. The Sancerre was also fantastic.
Delicious. They take pride in making good food, and I like eating it.
I'm new to Boulder and took my visiting family members to dinner here their first night in town. That was a month ago, and they're still talking about how much they loved the ambiance, food, and service. It was already my favorite restaurant in town before I received a handwritten thank you note in the mail sent by the sommelier - now it's my go-to spot for food no matter the occasion! Don't leave Boulder without a dinner from The Kitchen!
Very tasty and great atmosphere!
Excellent food and outstandingly good people
Just moved to Boulder and wanted a good place to go to for the first time, so I figured I would come try out The Kitchen! The atmosphere here is modern and casual; good for brunch with your friends or dinner with a date. I was craving some protein so I went with the Dry Aged Steak and am glad I did! It was tender and whatever seasoning they put on it was good too because it gave it a lot of flavor. The service was decent and the prices are fair. Had a great time and will be back!
Fresh ingredients that are flavored to perfection. Went for brunch as a group of 5. I got the mushroom toast which was amazing. Perfect soft scramble
This place is fantastic!! The olives are house made and so tasty! The wine selection is suparb. Got a salad with house made dressing. It was the prefect lunch portion! Decor is very chic. Service was great, and I loved the community table!
The food is awesome. Waitress was great, and the back of house did an excellent job accommodating my request. It is definitely a small space and the noise can get a bit overwhelming, but overall a good experience.
Upscale atmosphere, delicious food. It was parents weekend and the brunch crowds were brutal, so we wandered around Boulder and found this as the doors were opening, glad we did. Shrimp and grits were fantastic. Bacon had good flavor and cooked to perfection. Sliced tomato had outstanding texture and flavor. If anything was "less than stellar," sourdough toast was just okay and I wasn't asked if I wanted a coffee refill, had to request, even though my daughter was asked multiple times about a second bar drink. I saw some Y_lp reviews knocked stars for value of dinner offerings, but breakfast/brunch prices are decent. Hostess and server were both friendly, courteous, efficient.
Food wasn't good, took forever to have it, ridiculously expensive (even I didn't pay).
This place is absolutely fabulous. OnPoint service, phenomenal food!
Good f2t with some vegan options, not many.
So after waiting about 10 mins before anyone comes to our table to greet us, we get our initial drink order and then was given a different server who was kind, but she never came back to check on us after our order came out. I wanted a second drink and another 15mins she came back just to check on us and I tried placing an order, but she walked away. Having to wait again, a different server came up to check on us I explained why I was upset and didn’t want the other drink and at this point I was done having to deal with poor service for over priced food. Panera bread would of provided better service and prices for what I had to deal with. Don’t go here unless you want to spend $20 for an over priced piece of chicken and terrible service.
So good! We started with a very delicate, flavorful tuna ceviche and an excellent roasted beet salad. One of us had the roasted half-chicken; the skin was crispy and perfect while the meat itself was moist. The other had the grilled striped bass, which was delicious and devoured. Would definitely go back.
Great food and drinks. Bartenders top notch!
The Kitchen is known for its gourmet food, if not gourmet, at least better than most. I have been there when the food did meet and surpass many food establishments. This trip wasn't it. When you have breakfast, one thing that makes the meal complete is a good cup of coffee. This coffee tasted burnt and like it had been sitting for hours. The hash browns were greasy and cold but the eggs and bacon were good. So it wasn't a complete disappointment but it was not what I would expect from a known establishment like the Kitchen. Therefore, only a 3 star rating this trip.
I will say that the menu looked amazing and all the staff was great, unfortunately due to the 45 minute wait my dad and I went next door. I will however come and try again next time I'm in boulder
The Kitchen is one of my favorite high-end restaurants in Boulder. I have been many times over the years and I am always impressed with the service and food. One of my favorite dishes I've ever had was a lobster risotto with small pieces of watercress. They were one of the original farm-to-table restaurants in Boulder and even after dozens of new concepts have popped up around town The Kitchen still remains at the top.
A cool, rainy of snowy day? Stop into The Kitchen for their tomato soup that warms you through and through - consistent goodness and supreme bread.
I sat at the bar and ordered the gem salad with salmon. The food was delicious and for me the perfect amount. The atmosphere is bright and welcoming and the staff were attentive.
Staff was nice ... the food was quite tasty, and the atmosphere was relaxing
It was meh. I felt like a restaurant that wants to be high end without the execution. Yet, the same price as a high end.
The beat breakfast I have had in quite some time! The avacodo with the Everything Seasoning is straight up delicious!
Outstanding experience. Cozy. Fun. Good energy but not frenetic. Food was outstanding, so was service. Will return. Bring friends.
american food, so delicious. service is typically good. bring your appetite because portions are generous.
We came into Boulder for the day on our Babymoon and had brunch at The Kitchen. It was an amazing experience - from the friendly and helpful staff to the delicious food. Everything was just fantastic. We enjoyed both the Piri Piri Chicken Sandwich and the Green Goddess Chicken Salad (if I remember the name correctly).
Fun and lively. A little loud but good faire.
This is the best brunch I’ve ever had
I love the kitchen <3 it is a great place for a celebration - I came here on the day I got engaged and it was festive and cozy and special, and the food was really delicious. Highly recommend the charred chinese broccolini appetizer, and the roasted beets. The bolognese and pork chop (pictured) were also soooo tasty. We were like *oh no we ordered too much we'll never finish everything* but of course we ate it all. Five stars!!!!!!
Went for brunch — the lemon ricotta pancakes were super delicious. A little pricey, but the quality is great. Nice atmosphere as well!
Everything perfect, fish tacos delicious thanks
Had brunch here after the Big Gay 5k and it was fantastic! We almost drove back to Denver after the race but decided to eat here. Glad we did. Coffee was so smooth, breakfast was on point! Ordered the farmers breakfast with avocado and tomatoes. Best of all service was fantastic! Staff was super friendly and attentive. My fiancé got up to go to the restroom and staff came over and folded is napkin for him. Never seen such impeccable service. Our waitress Nichole was super friendly and took time to get to know us. Recommend this place 100%!
It took over an hour to be served. The food was good but I won't be going back.
My wife and I had a wonderful lunch here in April 2017. We were tourists visiting Boulder for the first time. We looked at the NY Times article, 36 Hours in Boulder Colo., which recommends this restaurant. We noticed that many of the patrons were local business people and residents, which speaks well of the restaurant. The clientele seemed high-class and well dressed. The decor is lovely and the seating area is spacious. The high ceiling gives it an airy feel. Good natural light. We ordered soup, quiche and tacos. Everything was very tasty. We tried the signature dessert -- toffee pecan cake with vanilla ice cream ...YUM. We like The Kitchen!!!
A great Boulder restaurant. But it would be a great restaurant anywhere. They take care of all the details. The food, drinks and service are all top shelf. Go soon.
Heard all kinds of reviews from friends both locals and visitors from home. PBG!. They were correct in stating The Kitchen as a must; for a terrific Boulder meal. Enjoy dinner with friends or just your lover...and the lamb. Even lunch can be magical on Pearl. A bit overrated -- but the food is quite good and the service attentive. We were disappointed that the generic email received about Restaurant Week only applied to the Denver location-- but did enjoy our dinner. It is not a quiet setting -- they are busy even on a Monday night. Beer selection was not as good as I would like to see - but the Porter was 5 star.
Some of my favorites also include: Tuna ceviche, oysters, fish tacos, grilled striped bass, and the french fries. The restaurant environment is great and very welcoming. You can find yourself sitting at the community table making friends with others. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you want a real Boulder food experience.
Good food and Excellent service. We went for brunch most recently and didn't have reservations, but they seated us right away and were great. The scrambled eggs were cooked well and the toast was well toasted. I left happy and full.
Excellent service and late-night food options.
Probably the best fine dining value in Boulder, maybe anywhere. This is the place, more than any other, that made me love to eat, and to understand why local ingredients can be so spectacular. Totally unpretentious, but still elegant, and always, always delicious.
Nice place for American food. the service was helpful and kind. the place has an awesome atmosphere. like a restaurant in washington i loved.
Nice space and service. Presentation was great. Amount of Salmon seemed shy to me...what do you think? Sent my wife's meat back for being too tough to eat or cut. They removed it from the bill. I've eaten here before and they did better last time.
Best half chicken I’ve ever eaten.
Been here a few times, it’s always good! Did a little brunch this time, mimosa, beer, salad, the toast and some fruit, so good! Great service as well!
Strange, I've written reviews for The Kitchen at least twice but doesn't seem to take. The food and the service here are excellent. The hamburgers are ridiculous. Even the ketchup is gourmet. Great restaurant. Last time we were here, several of us had taken a tumble coming down from Mallory's Cave. We must have looked a mess. Bloody and wet, yet they were very cordial and professional which is great cause we were not only in pain, we were starving. We'd come to the right place.
The Kitchen used to be good and represent Boulder well by sourcing locally, but within the last few months it has significantly degraded. They’ve dropped at least one local vendor and the food was horrible... though the prices haven’t changed. On this track it will suffer the same fate as Turley’s. To follow up I emailed Ken weeks ago in response to his post and haven’t heard back.
I first ate at The Kitchen what feels like a decade ago. I was impressed by the food, the service and the fact that the staff ate a meal at the restaurant after working a hard shift. After years of many stymied attempts to return to the restaurant, I finally scheduled a vacation to ski, climb and eat at The Kitchen. I went there every night for the better part of a week. I wasn’t disappointed. The small plates are sublime. Anyone can cook meats, with their protein/fat payouts but to do the same with a turnip is another level. Too often, vegetables are the sorry escort to the meat dish. Here, they shine. Vegetables taste like dirt- but in a good way. You can taste the earth and sunshine that made them what they are. The service is impeccable. Sit at the bar. Talk to Dani and Steve and the person next to you. Ask them what to order-and wait.
The food is great and the staff are wonderful!! I'll be sure to visit again real soon!!
We were in Boulder visiting friends, so we decided to come here one night for dinner. We had a wonderful time. Good food, though a little expensive. The restaurant is beautiful, love their ambiance. The one in Fort Collins is lovely too.
Consistently great food. I know it's becoming a chain, with locations now spreading out into multiple states, but this is (as far as I know) the original, we've been coming here for years, and nothing's changed. Always great service, always striving to make it a good experience for you. Ingredients sourced from local farms. Inventive dishes, but not in an over-the-top trying-to-prove-something kind of way. Btw, they have great gluten free bread if you can't do gluten.
Great cocktails and wine list. The entrees were well portioned and delicious - I got the half chicken and my husband got the pasta bolognese and both were excellent.
Expensive, but worth it. Cocktails were surprisingly good
Love this place. Excellent ambiance, food, and service
Great lunch spot.
Did a number of small plates and they were all very good. The beets were a surprise for me and the skewers were the best part overall.
Fantastic food and a great location after a day of enjoying Boulder
Food quality is above average, and very consistent between visits. Service has also been very good. I'm usually paying $15-$25 for lunch, but that's normal for the area. Recommend trying the salt & pepper chicken bites & the Tomato Basil soup!
Their food is always fantastic. I've only been here a handful of times but always impressed with the food and the service. Top notch. Decor is modern and minimal. The only thing is that it is such a popular spot it can get loud in the restaurant.
Excellent spot for american food. service is always super even when they have a full house. looking forward to a return trip. not so close to my office, unfortunately.
Awesome staff, food, and drinks!
Excellent food and service.
I had the hummus. It was good. But for $11 it was a very small portion. So I had to requested extra. My friend had a small glass of wine $13. I don't drink. So I just had water. A little pricey, but tasted good. My friend had a salad with salmon for $21. Lunch for two: One Salad, & some hummus, and a little wine = $75 not including tip. Not my type of restaurant, but if you like casual, pricey places, you will probably like this place. Found parking right in front on a Saturday around 3 pm ish. So that was a positive. And the staff was friendly and nice.
We had a wonderful lunch here. The menu was big enough for variety, but small enough to know it would be fresh. The carnitas sandwich was amazing. Beware if you don’t like spicy. Fresh jalapeños!!! You can simply ask for them to be removed and it is still a fantastic sandwich. My wife had a lovely salad. Gfree options available for my daughter. We all won!
We went for lunch. It was good.
The Kitchen is inextricably linked to Boulder and no visit to the city is complete without a meal there. The menu is consistent, the food is delicious and fresh, and the service is impeccable.
Incredible food! The cod, grits, and hushpuppies were all amazing
Awesomely delicious cocktails!! Most of our food was very good to excellent as well, but we had a $30 pork chop, ordered medium rare that was so overdone it was like eating a saddle. Worst part was that I felt embarrassed to send it back, it seemed so out of place...
Good burger and a beer in a nice setting.
Atmosphere and crew seemed pretty great, but the food was nothing special especially for the price.
Good food, nice staff.
Delicious place for brunch! Outstanding pork breakfast sandwich!
Great concept and food. As well to recommend is Next Door, which offers more simple food, but in same quality and following same standards as the kitchen. More than a restaurant.... It's a movement :)
This place will be my new home for brunch and or dinner. The service was fantastic and food was ok.. Service was above and beyond and I wish I knew her name to say... Great job and thank you.
Delicious meal in downtown boulder. Our hotel was walking distance to this spot and it was delicious! I’m not a carrot fan but those carrots with the ricotta and dill were to die for. The oysters were beautiful, shucked well, and the sauce was a beautiful accompaniment. Oh and the pasta bolognese was fantastic!! This place hit the spot! Great meal.
Farm to table in Boulder, owned by a Musk brother, clean beaming optimistic mountain folk and a great atmosphere
Organically sourced farm-to-table food can be found and this upbeat light and bright locals favorite. They are well known for their savory tomato bisque and Pato chocolate. A wide assortment of biodynamic wines are sure to compliment any dish they have on the menu. Sure to tantalize the pickiest pallets.
Great ambiance. Great food. Good people! The Kitchen and the Kitchen Upstairs are excellent spots to enjoy good company and fine wines
Amazing amazing amazing! Must eat here. I got the salmon and sticky pudding. Absolutely delicious!
One of my favorite Boulder restaurants. The fresh and varied menu is terrific. Staff could use some tweaking for quality of service.
Its fresh and fun. From the salmon to the charred green beans to the traditional pasta bolognese nothing disappointed. Great service.
Great atmosphere. The pork chop was delicious, as were the pork skewers. Enjoyed the garlic fries as well!
