You're missing out if you don't stop here to eat. The food was great (pulled pork - be early if you want brisket - I was sad I missed it), the staff was super friendly, great atmosphere... everything was just "right", and you don't come by that very often anymore.

Fried catfish, 3 meat plate, 2 sides, 3 sauces at your table. Shiner Bock on tap. Don't let the outside of the bldg or neighborhood fool ya. This is the real deal. Fantastic fried pickles and homemade ranch for dipping. Indoor outdoor seating.... great blues piped throughout. Dang! We'll be back next trip from the Western Slope!

Yum! One of the best pulled pork sandwiches I have had to date. How is it the smaller BBQ sites seem to always have the best food. We stopped after a short hiking trip and only waited about 15 minutes to get in to order. Plenty of room inside to sit even with a bit of a crowd. They also have outside seating and a walk down to the river. I didn't like some of the hotter sauces, vinegar taste turns me off, but their sweet sauce was delicious. This little place is on the east side of Idaho Springs. Plenty of parking in the lot and on the street. Easy on/off from I-70, Worth the stop!

Really delicious! Glad we jumped off the highway and looked around for something local. We ordered ribs that came ended up being a little bit of a different cut than anticipated and the whoever, not sure if it was the owner or cook or manager, noticed it while walking by our table and brought us some new ones on his own. This while the ones we had were already delicious and we had no complaints. Great service, great food, great outdoor seating. Highly recommend!

Surprisingly good BBQ for Colorado. It was some of the best pulled pork I've ever had. The hot links were also quite good. The brisket was decent but didn't blow me away. The chili mac and fried okra were both great. The local beer selection was quite nice. The Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout was particularly amazing. I don't think I liked the boiled peanuts but I had never had them before. Maybe they're just not my thing.

Smokin Yard’s is one of the go to iconic Idaho springs eats. Food is always killer and staff is always friendly. Try the Wednesday special, you won’t be disappointed. Also, $2 PBRs and a patio... best price in town. The owners Scott and Andrew always seem to have a smile on their face!

This place has some kickass barbecue. I take my mom there for a tree at least once a month. You can wrap down the river and pull right into the barbecue place. Or you can just get your food and walk down to the riverfront seating. It's a great place to check out especially if you have the munchies. I don't believe they sell hard alcohol and Cocktails but they do serve beer and some kickass barbecue

The place was recommended to us as the best barbeque in Colorado. The food was okay. I'm no barbeque expert but my sliced brisket was dry as all get out. So was the pulled chicken sandwiches my kids got. The food had good flavor but the beef jerky I had was just too dry to finish. On an upside the service was super fast!

Great spot off I-70 for amazing smoked meats. Burnt ends are my fave. Pulled pork sandwich is always a quick, safe go-to, too. Inside and patio are both good spots to enjoy your food. It’s a must to order food first and have a table number before claiming a table since the place can quickly become packed. Dog friendly patio and dog friendly servers!!! Service is on point, btw. Best barbecue I've found in Colorado! Pulled pork, brisket, chicken, and hot links are all on point. All their sides are great, especially the fried pickles. They even have boiled peanuts! Sometimes crowded, but there is a good reason for that. Decent beer selection, friendly staff.

The staff convinced me to leave before I even got through the first door so i have no idea how the food is, smelled good though. There was a line to get in and i was about to go in and ask how long the wait was when a staff member told me to close their door and turned around and walked off. Even the guy in front of me gave a surprised look. So we closed the door and went to a different restaurant. Now I love BBQ and will wait for it but that was off putting.

Great BBQ! If you plan on hitting it on a weekend it can be pretty packed. They have a great patio on the back. The kids enjoy watching the rafters from the patio. We love to get the 4 meat option (2 half chicken, brisket, and pulled pork) with a couple sides. This and the boiled peanuts usually feeds the 5 of us well for around $35.

Local and small restaurants are the best. I love their pulled pork as well as their smoked wings. The buffalo sauce is hot enough for the kick but mild enough to enjoy. The selection of their signature BBQ sauce is outstandingly delicious. While you are waiting they have boiled peanuts that are good. It's awesome that you can buy by the pound in case you want some for the week. Would definitely recommend.

This barbecue joint is indescribably delicious! I wasn't sure what to order so I just got a pulled pork sandwich. You would think, that's a basic thing to eat but let me tell you, it was the bomb. You dont need sauce for any of the meat because it is so juicy and tender, but with some of the homemade sauces they have it makes your meal even better.

Service was great. BBQ was mediocre. The brisket was chewy as if it was heated in a microwave and had no smoky flavor. The chopped beef was more on the lines of stew meat. The sauces were also lackluster. However, based on the reviews I’ve read many people liked the food, guess my Texan standards are too high.

A great cozy BBQ spot in an area that has far too few good, reasonably priced options. They also offer boiled peanuts in the shell which is a rare treat. I've had the pulled pork sandwiches, Mac and cheese, french fries, and beef brisket sandwich and enjoyed them all. The space feels very cozy with fun roadside decorations on the walls and rustic tables. On busy days the line can grow out the door and take a while. If the wait for a table is long, consider getting food to go if you don't need to wait for a table. My kids say this place is amazing: YUMMY YUMMY.

What a pleasant surprise to have excellent Texas bbq along a spot I usually get off on my way to somewhere else. Had to go down the block a ways and the aroma captured us. Smoked, juicy burnt ends brisket and the pulled pork on the two-meat plate was enough for two, and the spicy coke slaw was outrageously good. No more Starbuck stop in Idaho Springs. It's Smokin Yard's bbq now!

This place has great BBQ and their sides are great quality too. The place is super small so expect to stand in a line out the door and wait too long for a table. They don't have a good system for seating and it's kinda "you're on your own". That is excepting all of the rules they have in place with signs everywhere. This place would get 5stars if they hired a hostess and made it full service.

This place has the best smoked baked beans I've ever tasted!! And their Carolina mustard sauce is incredible. My only issues were that was food was lukewarm at best when I received it. Half of the brisket was very dry as well. You can clearly see the difference in texture. This isnt a "go out of your way" place but it's worth a stop if you're just coming off the mountain from hiking and all that fun stuff.

We stop at this place every time we come through town. The slice beef is smoked and juicy. Those of us from the western slope know about Slow grooving, this is just as amazing, i think maybe even better in some ways. Still has that locals only feel. They do get busy but that's okay just have a drink while you wait.

If you're spending any time solid amount of time in the mountains, you have to swing by smokin yards on your way back. Excellent bbq that hits every spot, especially if you're worn from various mountain activities. My favorites are the burnt ends, ribs, and collards. I've been eating here for several years now and they're always my favorite part of the drive back home. Can't recommend it enough.

The barbecue itself was good. Very good in fact, at least the beef brisket is what I had. The fries were fresh which was good. I hate getting fries that have been sitting around, but these were fresh. The prices are a little high, at least that's my opinion. Everybody seem friendly there, and willing to serve. Even with the high prices I would probably go back.

I had the smoked brisket sandwich and I felt the price was very reasonable for how finger licking good it was!! Nice cozy small town feeling and the young staff was very attentive and engaging- another rare find. I will be rewarding myself after the slopes with this bbq from here on out! Only bummer is I didn’t find it years ago!! This place is family run so skip the fast food chains and spoil yourself with some deliciousness!

A friend of mine told me about Smokin Yard's. He said it was the best BBQ he's ever had in his life. Our family of 5 came for lunch one day and were blown away at how amazing it was. The flavor was incredible and the prices were reasonable too. Service was a little slow, but they prepare everything to order and it was well worth the wait. Highly recommend coming here whenever you're in Idaho Springs. We checked in on Yelp and got a 15% off coupon too!

My wife and I always make it a point to stop in when we're out this way. When we stopping yesterday around 1pm on a Friday, there was a line out the door. That's not uncommon for this place. Growing up in GA, and traveling all over TN and TX, this is by far one of the best BBQ spots. The food is always good and I like the down home feel.
