Excellent on every level. Know this place is extremely popular - so it can get incredibly busy, but it is a gen if a place. I try to visit Modis whenever I am in Breckenridge and I am never disappointed. The fresh concept food, crafted cocktails and extremely knowledgeable staff make it a treat every time.

Disappointing. We've been frequenting this establishment for 4 years, usually for happy hour. The happy hour menu isn't what it was, the cocktail menu has changed, and the prices have increased quite a bit. Not the Modis we remember, but everything changes over time and not always for the better.

Fantastic service! My husband and I stopped here for happy hour and tried The Butcher Block (charcuterie and cheese plate), the Ever Changing Soup (beef stew that day), and bread plate. Each of these offerings was thoughtfully prepared, featured different and exciting flavors, and tasted fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed each and every bite and wished we could have sampled some of the delicious looking cocktails. (I'm pregnant and my husband is nice.) The prices for entrees seem a bit steep, but when you consider the complex nature and excellent quality of the meals, it appears to be a worthwhile splurge. I highly recommend this excellent eatery!

Our drinks were good and prices seemed fair, but the servers treated our group as if we were more of an inconvenience than anything else. If you go, all the bartender about his homemade sliced whiskey / burbon blend; it's good.

Made a reservation for Thanksgiving dinner on opentable. I called and specifically asked if they were serving main menu and not a price fixed Thanksgiving dinner. I was told yes, we will be serving main menu. Went to the restaurant earlier than our reservation. We were seated but given a limited Thanksgiving menu and told there was a miscommunication regarding the menu when I adked. Unfortunately, we did not get to experience Modis and enjoyed dinner someplace else.

This place is a joke. They either have labor shortage and hire anyone from the streets or need to change the management ASAP. We came on a Sunday night, restaurant was almost empty. They got us seated and then we waited for about 15 min for our server to come. She took our drinks and appetiser order and vanished for another 15 min. Then she came back only to tell us they were out of something and asked what would we substitute for. After that she left and came back (WITHOUT THE DRINKS) We were pretty hungry and by that time had already ordered an appetiser. Finally she came with the drinks (pretty mediocrely made) and wanted to confirm she got our appetiser order right. We were just looking at each other at that point. Was pretty clear we didn't want to spend another minute there. We explained our concern and asked for the bill. After about 5 min the manager brought that appetiser to us we said we don't want it and asked for the bill again. Finally she brought the bill for $43 (we only had a shot and a margarita). To the owners : if you charge $50 for a meal please first make sure your employees are properly trained and know at least basics of customer service.

The Cuban was so yummy!! Kiddos loved the cookie and root beer float. I’d recommend staying away from the kids chicken fingers the breading wasn’t good kids picked it off. Drinks and service were great too!!!

A little pricy, but well worth it. We just stopped in for just a quick drink to start the evening and ended up staying for hours! Staff was very friendly and the food was good (particularly the meat and cheese platter), but the most amazing part was the drinks. Crazy huge selection on top of the bar and the staff make every cocktail like it's art. They made a Smokey Old Fashioned that was not only tasty but fun to watch! They are also they makers of the best wiskey sour I think I've ever tasted.

I have to say first off we didn't eat here. We were going to but then the guy behind the bar screamed at me to close the door - granted it was cold outside but couldn't he see I had an infant in hand and was trying to help my husband with my daughter? That was strike one but I apologised nonetheless and kept the door only slightly ajar for the hubs. Once we got in we walked towards another employee to be seated and without saying a word he just points us towards a table. I didn't understand at first so I asked 'we'll sit there?' And again without a word or a smile he just nods. My husband got annoyed as did I so we just walked out. Perhaps they have nice food, but appalling service.

Excellent location, wonderful looking food, large portions, and some excellent mixed drinks. Our waitress was good and helpful. Unfortunately, I can't eat canola oil due to hashimoto's disease and just about every food on the menu was cooked or sauteed in GMO canola oil. They ultimately made me a steak cooked in extra virgin olive oil and there was just one side I could eat that hadn't been sauteed in canola so while what I had was good, I'm often left slightly disappointed that I can't eat more because restaurants anymore are wed to canola. All I can do is begin educating people about the rampant canola use in restaurants. All too often, as with Modis, I'm learning alongside the waitress, who at first tells me they don't use canola or soy, that it's in literally everything, from fried and grilled foods to the olive oil and dressings that have all been mixed with canola. Unfortunately, even though we were careful with everything I ate at Modis, I'm now home feeling nauseated because I ended up somehow eating canola. Otherwise, everyone else was happy with their meals.

Modis is amazing. We've eaten there twice. Both times have been excellent. The food is beyond delicious and the staff is very friendly. This time we ate mussels, pasta, salmon, and butter cake. I would eat all of those again. They do take reservations via open table and I would highly recommend it. The first time we ate there was in the middle of the ski season and it was jammed packed. The second time was at the end of the ski season and it wasn't super crowded.

Oh my goodness I love eating here! This is our second time eating at Modis and the food did not disappoint. Last time I had the Duck Ramen, which was soooo good. I was hoping to have it again this time but they updated their menu. No matter because we had the mussels for an appetizer and they were delicious. I had the noodles and my husband the salmon (which was their special of the day). I am not a fan of salmon but the crust on this one was done perfectly. For dessert, I decided to try their butter cake and wow! My husband is not normally a dessert person but he ate about half of it. So good. Cannot wait to eat here again next year!

Beautiful space in downtown Breckenridge with an impressively stocked bar and cocktail menu. The menu seems to have an Asian inspired influence, and everything we ordered on the night was spot on. They weren't afraid to actually incorporate a fair amount of spice and heat to enhance their dishes. Service was impeccable; our main took longer than expected and our server apologized and informed us that dinner would be complimentary for the evening. Looking forward to a return trip to sample other items on their menu.

Excellent Food and Vibe This was the best meal we had in Breck. The food was excellent and the vibe of the restaurant was unique and interesting. This would be a 5-star experience had it not been for an error with our reservations and a response that was a little off-putting. We are chalking it up to being popular and busy, but wanted to note to double-check your reservation before heading over, or you may be waiting for a while for a spot!

While in Breckenridge for a family reunion, my husband and I got married at our vacation home. We brought the whole family (15 of us) to Modis for our wedding dinner, and it was FABULOUS! I had a pre-arranged banquet menu that Fharron, the event coordinator and pastry chef, helped me create and every item on the menu was wonderful. Everyone ordered different dishes and we all loved our meals. The service was excellent for our big party, which included 5 children and we all were extremely pleased. The entire staff made my wedding night memorable. A special thanks to Fharron for all of your help from start to finish, including your over the top chocolate cake to end our night!

I ate here last night and I must say it was not worth the money at all. Overpriced drinks, inattentive and rude wait staff with garbage food. The trout was incredibly dry and overcooked, the asparagus was soggy and also overcooked. They should really try getting some staff in there that are actually capable of doing their jobs rather than the slew of alcoholics and addicts that work there currently. This restaurant is abhorrent and i reccomend eating literally anywhere else.

Wow....lots of empty tables...4 of us came in for cocktails. The "hostess" looks at us and says there are seats at the bar...uh, yes 2 seats and there are 4 of us. She looked around with this vacant look...just stared at us...so welcoming...we just walked out. And hey we are a retired couple with our grown son and his wife...I don't think we looked like trouble makers. Never trying that spot again.

Our experience tonight was very unpleasant. We initially came in and was told it would be an hour wait for our table, so we decided to get a drink at the bar as we waited. The bartender with the man bun was incredibly rude and corrected us on what liquor they had as we asked for drinks. The gratuity was included for the drinks at the bar, which makes sense because I would have left $0 for a tip. We spent over $500 for dinner and the service overall was horrible. We ordered our drinks at first impression of our sever, and we did not receive our cocktails or bottle of wine for 25 minutes. I don't write many reviews, but we have been here before the ownership changed and it was great. After our experience tonight, we will never come back to dine.

We ate here for a rehearsal dinner. The food was average, and the service was terrible. The bride originally paid for a private dining area upstairs, which they booked over our party with zero notice. When guests arrived, they had us sitting at three large tables in the common dining area. We were cramped and constantly jostled by servers. They also dedicated only two servers for our entire party of around 30 people. Two servers for three large tables and 30 people is grossly understaffed, and a perfect picture of how badly managed this restaurant is. They pressured the party with a strict deadline to leave the restaurant, which made for additional stress. We were treated terribly, and I strongly recommend guests go to a place that treats their customers better and serves food that is actually worth the money.

Cool atmosphere with quirky cocktails. 5 for the food and 1 for the service. It took a while for anyone to acknowledge our group after we came in and our server specifically made us feel as though we needed to rush through our meal because there was likely another reservation after us. I was with clients so it was quite embarrassing. That being said, the food was not only beautifully presented, but also amazing. Props to the chef here, but that's about it.

I would highly NOT recommend this bar... we stopped in for a drink on New Years Eve (last night). I was with my family visiting Breckenridge for the holiday. There was an open seat at the bar so I sat down and was waiting my turn to be served. After waiting about 5 minutes the bartender said to the girl sitting next to me “You are not going to get anything by pouting.” Then he turned to me and said “You should get the f- - k out of here. Which I (and my party of 6 who were prepared to spend the evening and a lot of $$ there) proceeded to do. If you are not prepared to serve customers on a busy evening and verbally abuse them because you are busy then you need to be in a different profession. The one positive is when we were leaving, what must have been the hostess/manager did come out and try to take care of the few remaining customers at the bar. Again, very poor service I expect better at highly rated establishment in a place that is dependent on tourism for their business. The rude jerks tending the bar should be fired.

This place has a great atmosphere. The bartenders are great. I had a smoky old fashioned and it was excellent. I highly recommend the smoke. We got the steak and fries which was really really good. The butter and sauce taste great together. Also tried the chicken sliders. They're really spicy. Good taste but very hot. Would recommend when in town. If you like steak, definitely try the steak and fries.

Wow and Wow! We started with The Mussels- Don't let the menus list of ingredients intimidate you...the flavors are balanced so well and the heat is a hint of spectacular! The Beet Salad is amazing....The Chef should Patent their recipe and the steak? Unless ravenous, consider sharing yet Perfect Perfect... highly recommend. FYI... our waiter Robert was delightful and informative and gracious...he answered all our questions....very informative!

I have been here multiple times and I would call it a staple of Breckenridge. The menu and craft cocktail list were unforgettable. My husband and I come here at least twice a year to Breckenridge and it is our go-to place. On our last visit here I asked the bartender to make a drink that that I have remembered from past visits that was one of my favorite drinks of all restaurants bars. I actually had visited this restaurant the past 2 nights and had this drink made for me without any questions the past 2 nights. Tonight after dining at another restaurant we went to Modi’s for some drinks. When I asked them for my favorite drink again the bartender lazily told me he couldn’t make it. After some back and forth he basically made it seem like he would make it but only if he “felt like making it”. I would understand if the ingredients were hard to come by or since it was an off menu item but it wasn’t busy nor were any of items hard to come by ingredients. After he gave me his lame excuse I told my husband who was standing next to me that he was treating me rudely and that he was being lazy. I probably used some off color language and said he was an A hole, but I’ll readily admit that. His fellow bartender friend who as off duty and sitting next to us jumped on me and kicked us of the restaurant. The whole interaction was disappointing. I would have stayed and ordered another drink if they legitimately couldn’t make the drink (which I knew there was a chance they wouldn’t be able to), but I feared they would spit in my drink if I stayed. I felt like I was treated rudely and felt like the reaction of the bartenders wasnt that of someone wanting to keep a long time customer. Sucks to write this review but here it is.

Very friendly wait staff and good food. The bar menu is significantly less expensive than the dinner menu. Large and diverse choice of cocktails. Can get noisy but still a fun experience.

We went here on the recommendation of our son in law who loves cocktails. The happy hour has decent pricing with some great apps and drinks. Loved the ambience. If you are wanting to try a cocktail you’ve never heard of made with ingredients you don’t understand this place will not disappoint.

Nice atmosphere with live jazz music which was a nice touch. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. The cocktail drinks were delicious ($14 each though), and the food was decent. I ordered a beet salad and I was hoping for more beets, but there were only a few cubes on top of an arugula salad. Had a skillet cookie for dessert which was gigantic, but the cookie was pretty cakey. I would come back here again.

Very poor service. Waiter was extremely put off by any questions or to help with menu items. The restaurant was not busy, mid day, prices were ok, food so so, atmosphere is nothing special. You can take your dollars elsewhere in this town of great restaurants and receive better everything!

Great food, good service. They screwed up my reservation but made it right within 15 minutes. Delicious food made in unique ways, friendly service. It's an authentic Colorado experience and good for bringing family or guests. Make sure to make a reservation if you have more than 2 people

We had a reservation for tonight and arrived on time. The restaurant was closed!! There was a sign on the door stating that they had decided to close for the safety of staff and customers. What? All other restaurants and shops in town were open. The worst part is that no message was sent beforehand to customers with reservations, so we couldnt plan to go somewhere else. Very disrespectfull!

Fantastic meal and cocktails last night. Modis is my new favorite in Breck! Everything was creative and terrific. We had mussels, steak tartare, the special salad, and scallops. Also stole a bite of the short rib ravioli from our friends. I was extremely happy with every bite. The cocktail menu deserves its own 5-star review and accolades as well. Can’t wait to return!

Loved this place so much, had the Modis Steak and it came with the most amazing bone marrow fried rice. They also make great speakeasy style cocktails. Service was great and fast and the food was phenomenal. My friend got an appetizer as a meal and it ended up being the same portion as the entree (Korean spare ribs with kimchi cornbread).

Food was excellent. Service, staff, management was awful! Waited 1 hour after having reservation. Waiter took 10 minutes to greet us. Refills never came, food took 1 and a half hours after ordering. No silverware, or plates until we asked 3 people. Hostess was clueless. Pretty much seemed like amateurs running around like it's there first night ever working in a restaurant. Only thing good were there chefs. But not worth the wait or hassle.

The last time I was here this place was called the Horseshoe Inn II. It was nice... Breck was missing a nice bar with some class. Way too many dives. The drinks were good. The service was slow, but then again it's the mountains- no one moves fast or cares. Nice ambience.

The cocktails are out of this world good - next time we go we will check out the food. Definitely be prepared to take a car back from this place though as no one should be planning on driving. The bar area is an awesome place to meet interesting people and discover a new favorite cocktail!

Really liked the vibe at this restaurant where we had lunch. The ribs were excellent and the charcuterie platter was very filling. Nice to be able to sit out on the patio. The jalapeno mango margarita was yummy.
