REVIEWS OF Domo Japanese Country Food Restaurant IN Colorado

I'd been here once about 15 years ago and had fond memories. This time around wasn't so great. The food is really good and unique for sure, but please don't expect good service and it's not a good place for kids. If you know that going in then you'll likely have a great time! We loved our ramen, the gyoza is super yummy and the portions are huge! Yummy food without a doubt, unique environment too.

As soon as you arrive you feel like your in another world. This place has authentic Japanese food and it is DELICIOUS. You are really going to enjoy the ambiance. If you get a chance, eat outside. You will not regrets it. This place is great for groups, couples and singles. You’re going to get your moneys worth. The prices are perfect. And if it’s open, stop by the museum. It’s worth a look or two.

Ryan Wall

Some of the best food I have ever had. One of the reasons I love this restaurant is their dedication to tradition and their craft. Don't come here expecting Americanized Japanese food or custom orders. These people know what their doing and have spent years honing their culinary skills. If you want them to compromise on that, you're going to have a bad time. Also the non profit they operate has an amazing cause and history and the little museum they have in the garden is worth a visit. Speaking of which the outdoor seating is this beautiful cozy little Japanese garden that is definitely worth eating a meal in. If you want to enjoy your time there: order what they have, respect their heritage and their craft, and don't act like you know more about their culture than they do. Go enjoy yourself and have a wonderful gastrological experience!

I had a really bad experience today. The lady who was helping me to pay the bill was so rude to me. It was raining at that time, I was sitting outside. They came and removed the umbrella without telling me what’s going on. I thought they might put a different cover but they didn’t. Then a girl came with my food. So I asked her to help me sit inside. Then she put my food on the table and went away, and let the rain dropped into my food for 2-3 minutes. After I moved inside, it was at the corner. A fly was flying over my food. After about 10 minutes, I cannot stand it anymore. I looked around and tried to find a person to help. But I was in the corner, no one noticed me. So I moved the food by myself. Then the lady, probably the owner showed up. The first thing she told me is “do not move my food without asking. You disrespect us!!! “ I was like...I don’t know what to say. After telling her she misunderstood it. I asked for the bill and left. I only ate a little food. But that’s okay. Will not come back again

Pork Tsukemen was the best I have ever had. Their dashi shoyu is perfect. Unagi teriyaki is a must try. I’ve been going to school down the street for the last six months and never grabbed lunch here. I’m really kicking myself now! But I will definitely be back, and it’ll probably be next week!

Expected it to be great after the reviews... service was the worst ever! The sake was ordered with the water and was not recieved till after the appetizer and half way through the main course. Never saw our waiter, they give you 12oz water cups and never refilled. At the end we were ready to pay and waiter was no where to be found we had to go to the front to pay. Should have just dined and dashed. Then to top it all off both my wife and I got food poisoning. Definitely will never go back.

Esteban Armenta

If you get there and there is a long wait, WAIT. It is well worth it, trust me. Some of the best sushi I've had around Denver. The atmosphere is great too! Service was quick and friendly and did I mention the sushi is amazing?

Regina Schlitzkus

The staff warmly greeted my cousin & I upon arrival, plus the food was incredible! The menu items were well priced, also & of huge proportions! Bring your appetite! I can't wait to bring my entire family here next time!

Levi

Great place to eat authentic Japanese food! The atmosphere is really nice as well, if you have the option ask to sit outside. They had really quick service too.

Alexandria Tremble

We had an hour wait for a table of seven, which was fine with us. The decor was very unique! The chairs were stumps with leather coverings on them, so keep that in mind if you're sensitive to seating. They had a beautiful outdoor garden area that we saw from the parking lot. They only had about seven or eight parking spots but there was lots of street parking right outside. This was just a short walk to a station to hop on the line. They have a large menu that was a bit confusing. We were with friends who had been there before so they were able to help us order. The staff was busy but friendly. The side dishes and ramen were delicious. My only complaints were that my soda was never refilled and I drank it pretty early on in our visit. Also I had to ask for one of my ordered items three different times and they eventually just gave it to me in a to go container. The food was delicious and I would still recommend it!!

Anastassia Sorokina

How could this place not have more 5 star reviews? Yes, there was a wait for outdoor seating but it was totally worth it! Coming from NYC you wait on all the good, sought-after restaurants anyway. Celebrated my marriage anni here the other night and was blown away by the ambiance, the traditional decor and authentic home-style Japanese cooking. Delish sake, cold Sapporo, loved the little sampler plates that came with each entree. I’d highly recommend the miso ramen as well as the pork katsu curry. Fast, good service and patron attentiveness. Can’t wait to go again!

jackson Shurley

Very good traditional Japanese food. It has an awesome museum of Japanese history. The whole theme of the restaurant is Japanese culture and history. It also has a garden and a Buddhist shrine. I highly request this for food in the Denver area. The waiters are also very helpful. Five stars for sure.

Greg Jones

Best ramen, I've had.

Natasha Gutierrez

The food was so good. I love that you have the option to sit out in there little Zen garden. Very wonderful idea for a restaurant. Definitely will go back

David Bencomo

Domo is such a hidden gem! Have been here 3 times now and continue to recommend to others. Ramen at this place absolutely delicious. Portions are huge, and they offer some complimentary apps for the table with every order! Side note, the garden area adds to the overall ambiance of the restaurant as is a great place to dine as well.

Lea M

WAY too hot. No AC at all inside, and there was an hour wait. There's no way I want hot food while I'm actively sweating, no matter how good your food is. We might try again in the cooler months, but then again, there are so many other good places to try. It had a pleasant atmosphere, though.

spencer coleman

I can't give this place five stars because of the awkward service. There was a thirty minute wait, which is fine, I figured that meant it was good food. Then we were sat and had an awkward 10 minute wait until a server #1 came and asked us if we were ready. We ordered drinks, and then immediately a different server (#2) came and asked us if we were ready. Our drinks came, and then yet another server (#3) came and took our order. The food and atmosphere is really amazing, it definitely does not feel like you are in a big city. After we ate all of our previous three servers were nowhere to be found. Finally I had to ask a busser if he could track down or server for the bill. Again, I wish I could give Domo 5 stars, but I just can't after this first trip

Joshua Priest

Been here many times now and I'm never disappointed. Great food, great staff, and a really cool atmosphere! I would recommend this place to anyone that enjoys ramen!

Fyre Stata

Still love this place. Delicious food, beautiful atmosphere.

Goobius

Fantastic Karaage ramen bowl with great appetizer to split between multiple guests. The service was friendly and the overall setting and atmosphere was beautiful; the restaurant had stone tables with a nice patio option as well outside. Overall, a great experience!

Debra Carlson

Amazing food, cozy interior, our only complaint is that they served my food and forgot my partner's food, even after being reminded. The chef did send out another dish and our appetizer was comped to make up for it. The chrysanthemum tea was delicious!! Even with the blip of forgotten food we will go back.

This is the most beautiful and special decorated Japanese restaurant in Denver which provides country style Japanese food. You will NOT find regular nigiri, sushi or rolls with wasabi on them. The outsides dining area makes you feel like you are in a Japanese garden. Dining indoors feels like you are dining in your Japanese friend’s century-old Japanese house. I usually start with Domo style Maguro poki and Sake Poki. The fresh raw fish goes perfectly with the chili sauce and ginger. The Yaki Ika ( grilled calamari) is good either with sea salt or soy sauce. For the entree, the Chicken Cutlet curry is juicy and tasty. The curry flavor is well balanced. The Autou sauce Teriyaki Chicken is not too sweet and the jalapeño makes perfect sauce. They also have special ramen that’s a different style than other ramen places in Denver. If you go there for dinner, I would recommend Wanko Sushi. These are 3 or 5 courses of small bowls for different combinations of seafoods and sauces. There are 46 items to choose from. Masago Ebi ( shrimp with smelt roe and Japanese mayonnaise), Unagi items, Seafood with Domo’s original chili sauce are my favorites. The flavor of Fermented soy bean is very “distinctive”. Some people may feel it tastes strange. Try at your own risk. It’s like goat cheese for some oriental people. Other items on the Wanko Sushi list are all special and good. This restaurant is a must try.

Tisha Hines

Worst service imaginable. Had to find a server for nearly every single thing. Unfortunately, the setting is nice but it cannot make up for the overpriced food & lack of service.

Yiming Wang

The decoration is good and I like the museum as well as the garden. But the speed of serving food is really show! I wait about half an hour until my main dish is served.

Joshua Holderness

This place is one of the best eating experiences in Denver. The food is served with a level of mastery and artistry that is higher than any restaurant I've yet to visit. Deserves even more than 5 stars!

mandy hoffer

Amazing experience and cute little garden and museum out back

Tyler King

Very good food with a fun rustic atmosphere. I went with my girlfriends mother, who is Japanese, and she really got a kick out the decor.

Jayme Parker

I lived in Japan for 4 years and have searched for quality Japanese food for quite a while now. When I say this place is authentic, I speak from experience. Everything from the decor to the food- absolutely perfect. Dont go if you're in a hurry, the experience will be wasted on you. This is a place to sit and enjoy your food and dining experience.

J Kirby

Amazing quality food in an incredible atmosphere. The wait staff at the front desk was very helpful, but the person actually taking our order and waiting on our table seemed impatient and hardly spoke to us, otherwise this would be a 5-star review. Note: this restaurant does not and cannot cater to strict vegetarian/vegan diets and this is important to know going in.

Z

Be prepared to get a karate chop to the throat if you ask for soy sauce. Come for the amazing cuisine, stay for the entertainingly pretentious white people who fumble with their chopsticks instead of slurping like the rest of us common folk.

Tony Sanchez

They wouldn’t serve my curry without rice. It’s really not that hard to not add rice to another dish. Fortunately, I was able to eat around the rice. The curry was ok, it tasted very sweet.

Bryan Moore

Awesome place, food is unbelievable. An experience everyone should try, The sake was also very good. traditional and cozy setting and you will not leave hungry!

Melissa Ward

Fabulous food, staff is super helpful and attentive.

Bret Hicks

Amazing! Seriously, some of the best Japanese food I've eaten. The staff are friendly and will help explain the menu. Everything on the menu is delicious and the sides are always great. There is also a garden and patio to enjoy in nice weather.

Carrie O'hara

Amazing! The building is pretty unassuming on the outside, but inside, it's totally amazing! It was raining the day we went, otherwise we would have say outside in the garden. The food was incredible, and I have been told very authentic, although I've never been to Japan. A must see!

Michael García

This is super delicious!! Beautiful garden and great food / service! Legit!

Jeremy Neff

It has authentic Japanese food and a zen garden surrounding the restaurant. They did a fabulous job and take good care of the grounds. It isn't a place for a quick meal.

Stan Zislis

Not as good as i thought itd be. Noodles were overcooked and tempura batter for the tempura shrimp and vegetables were really dense. Not at all like the traditional light tempura...

Atlasta

Most authentic Japanese Edo Period Village-Style restaurant you might possibly find in America. Definitely worth the visit. Its a bit hard to find because its tucked away awkwardly in an semi-industrial area, but once you find it and enter the premise, you will immediately realize its worth. The food is prepared to the finest of detail and every dish is derived from traditional Japanese cuisine. Absolute gem.

Alex Beaumier

Food here was fantastic. We came at a busy time so took a little Bit longer than usual to get our drinks, but it's not sweat. The staff is great and will answer any questions you have. A must have if you're a tourist. Really, you cannot get food like this anywhere else. It's all so so good.

Joaquin Escobar

Awesome place, great food! Fine inside a very Japanese building or outside in the beautiful garden. The Ramen was amazing and the shareable plates were really good too

Yer Yaaj

We enjoyed the food we ordered. This spot had a nice vibe with great choice of music. The decor is amazing and it felt like we were in Japan (based on movies - lol). The service was good. The side dishes that came with the sushi were a variety in flavor. The pumpkin was incredible, my 19 month old liked it, too.

Berry Casale

Domo is always a great experience. With a cozy atmosphere regardless the time of year, the food is always fantastic. While every menu item may not be *quite* as good as your favorite dish, there's not a single thing that won't hit the spot. The staff is always warm and great... good place!!

Katrina Nesterenko

The atmosphere both inside and outside is incredible. ⛩️

Nevada Stevenson

Love this place and the flavor of the ramen. The portions are very generous and the ambiance is wonderful. Feels like a cross between a county inn and a forest setting with the decor. The hibiscus tea is one of my favorites, its amazing either hot or iced.

Sarah English

This place offered delicious food with an amazing atmosphere. The garden was the perfect peaceful setting to catch up with friends. The menu can seem overwhelming at first, but there really isn't a bad option, so just go with it! As a rule, they do not accommodate any food allergies because they want to stay true to their recipe. They also do not accept reservations, but have some tables in the waiting area for you and your friends to hang out until your table is ready. Just make sure you go in there knowing that it's not going to be fast service and you'll be able to enjoy your time there.

Jonathan LeBreton

This is an excellent restaurant. Marvelous ambiance as everyone says. Service for five at lunchtime on a weekday was very fast and complete despite the place starting to rapidly fill up. Shrimp tempura was great although perhaps a little too much batter for some folks taste, accompanied by a sliced onion tempura which was wonderful. Great salmon teriyaki accompanied by three very interesting varied tasting sides and a superlative miso soup, best I’ve had outside Japan to be honest. Ramen plentiful and delicious. Avocado and unagi don, great tasting generous slabs of unagi beautifully prepared, but the avocado mix was kind of odd mash — would have been better as chunks of fresh avocado which would have been lovely with the unagi. So on that I would go to 4.5 stars. All quite reasonable.

Anna Whitehouse

The garden outside provided the perfect date night atmosphere and the udon noodles were delicious.

Laura Kauffman

OUTSTANDING! What a unique place to enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine. The ambience is so charming. So much to look at and enjoy while you wait on your order. The menu (or should I say menus--there must have been like 5 of them) was a little intimidating at first but the very helpful server explained it well. The food took a little longer than I'm used to (maybe 35 minutes or so), but I know that excellent food can't be rushed. You know how getting homemade quality food. Well worth the wait! I read this place was #5 in the country for top Japanese restaurants and #1 for decor. I can see why. I definitely recommend Domo!

Melissa Mae

This place is really unique. For the creativity of the interior and the vibe I would give them 5 stars. After walking in we realized there was no a/c, and the wait to eat outside was long. We ate inside and it was hot but also not a single fan was going so it felt like all the air inside was stagnant. Two groups of people who walked in after us and were seated after us were asked for their drink orders first. The chicken was very fatty and not a good texture. I really wanted to like this place more.

Jaime Sklenar

This was my first time here, and holy moly! The food is fast and super delicious. The grounds are absolutely amazing. I loved the cultural center they have attached with the dojo! Its fascinating to read all the stories, and see how much they help others not just internationally, but locally too!

Carol Nguyen

The restaurant is beautiful, it really makes you feel like you were transported to Japan. There is a nice garden that you can walk through and dine in as well as a small "museum" on the side. There is A LOT of food in a set so be warned but it was honestly delicious. Get there early to beat the rush and you should have no problem with any wait.

Eliu Camacho

So like an authentic Japanese country eating establishment. We were outside and it was fantastic, although smack in the middle of the city, you still felt like you were out in the country side. We were 5 in my party everyone lauded their own dish and thoroughly enjoyed the evening!

Victoria Turner

Fabulous! The food is so flavorful and the atmosphere is so authentic. Best Japanese in Denver. Had the seafood ramen and it was amazing!

Diane Marcus

Fun and full of ambiance. Gardens are gorgeous. Service needed some fine tuning.

rebecca noe

Great atmosphere and food. Very traditional Japanese style.

Jason Greashaber

I could smell the food from the parking lot and knew it was going to be good. The food was amazing, but to make it even more amazing, the atmosphere transports you to another place. Well worth it to try.

Modesty Gomez

The ramen is incredible! Loved the outdoor seating and overall atmosphere of the place. Sadly the museum was closed while I was there for lunch but I will definitely be coming back and hopefully I can see it.

Jolene Clark (Redhead Momentum, LLC)

Hands down one of my most favourite Asian food experiences in Denver! I brought a friend visiting from out of town this past weekend and with three of us we ate like queens for $66 plus leftovers. Eater tip: go right when they open or close to closing time or expect to wait. While they have a nice waiting area, they do not have a bar and there's not much around the area to walk to while you wait if the wait is long.w

James Madaris

This place serves to die for Japanese food. The awards they've won kinda speaks for this place, but it's as good as advertised. Once you walk in, it blows you away and looks like no restaurant around. Super good vibes and food

Danielle Gilbert

Absolutely beautiful place and delicious food. I have a great appreciation for the culture, history, and livelihood of Domo's. 110% highly recommended.

Barbara McGhee

The food is good. They serve no salt, or lemons or limes. Really don't go there if you want something quick. Inside is interesting, you sit on tree stumps, tables are stone. Outside is very BEAUTIFUL and comfortable. Interesting experience.

J Short

One of my favorite places in Denver. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is incredible. There is no better outdoor dining experience in Denver. I do miss their old wooden sake cups and hope they bring them back.

Blue Skies

Everything about this visit was awesome! Food and ambiance were great! Prices aligned with what we ordered. Will definitely go back!

Erica B.

Food is AMAZING but once food arrived never saw our server again not even to bring the check, so they need to work on rhat aspect.

Jeremy Nielsen

Great authentic vibes. The menu can be overwhelming to beginners but the staff is friendly. Try something unique

George Matthews

Domo was something else; An experience I was not expecting. When you order an entree you are served 7 side dishes family style with it. The amount of food you get for the price at the quality that Domo makes it is nothing short of insane. I can't reccomend this restaurant enough. I ate chicken katsu, 7 side dishes, a miso soup, and side salad for $20

scardwe2 .

The food and ambience is the best in Denver. I love the ramen (way better than Uncle)...but the service is pretty slow. I still think it's totally worth it.

I have been waiting to check out this place forever and was super excited. But when I went in today jeez what a mess. Waitress got my order wrong then when I told her she did nothing to fix it and just said it was my fault. Then when we asked for her and a manger she did nothing but pretend to work and ignored me and my friend after asking her to come over 3 TIMES! Then when we finally got someone to help, and it was not our waitress by the way because she continued to ignore us and not care at any point. I still got no help and was charged full price for a meal I did not want or even eat. So can't say I'll be back, and I'll be sure to let everyone I know that wants to come in to stay away because by far worse customer service I've ever had anywhere.

Stephen Zahradnik

Definately worth going to in the winter. The food will fill your tummy with smiles. Excellent ambience!

Michaellee Montoya

Great food. Amazing environment, service so so.. seemed underappreciated. Maybe we came at the tail end of the day... Tired staff. Etc. But all and all it was yummy.

Daniel N. Hewitt

What a disappointment! When we arrived we asked to sit outside with our party of 9. They accommodated us in their nice outside area. After ordering drinks, a very rude lady said we needed to move inside because it was going to rain. My only grief with this was that all of the other tables were allowed to stay outside. It was a miserable 80+ degrees inside. Our server started out very well, but never came back to us. Our drinks sat empty for the whole time we were there. Keep in mind that it was hot inside and we needed water at the least. The sushi was frozen fish in what they deem as traditional Japanese cuisine. I am worldly and this was far from traditional. Their service was horrendous! They forced us to move even though it didn't rain the entire time we were there, they dont split checks because they are so busy do everything else wrong, they make you give gratuity for some of the worst service I've ever received! Dont waste your time or your money. FYI most of the reviews on the site are rigged...they give discounts for 5 star reviews. Gross overall!

Love this place! Unlike any other Japanese restaurant in Denver. Not just the food but the atmosphere as well. Large menu selection, great service and cute garden area for the summer.

Jill Arguello

Great atmosphere, and their grounds are truly special. Japanese Gardens outside, and decorated wonderfully throughout the venue. They offer indoor and outdoor seating, and our party of 12 elected to risk it and pick outside. So glad that we did, added to the experience considerably.

Nevada Stevenson

Love this place and the flavor of the ramen. The portions are very generous and the ambiance is wonderful. Feels like a cross between a county inn and a forest setting with the decor. The hibiscus tea is one of my favorites, its amazing either hot or iced.

nathan greenhall

Great food and even better decor

I ate chicken katsu, 7 side dishes, a miso soup, and side salad for $20

scardwe2

The food and ambience is the best in Denver. I love the ramen (way better than Uncle)...but the service is pretty slow. I still think it's totally worth it.

xX510ZeroFrostXx

Grant Beveridge

Authentic Japanese Cuisine in a very Eastern atmosphere, feels like you're eating in the land of the rising sun, an excellent experience.

Mel

Nice decor and setting - it was cool the night we went so I had no issues with it feeling stuffy. We had good service and the food came out quickly - we did get there at 5:30 on a Friday. It was an enjoyable setting but I was personally really disappointed in my food. I felt like it was inedible - both too salty and too sweet. I've been to a lot of other ramen and Japanese places and enjoyed a wide range of cuisine. This is the first time I genuinely had trouble finishing my meal. It was frankly really mediocre and lukewarm. I ordered the Tori Niku Tsukemen. The waitress recommended the ramen noodles - they were very eggy. The Gatsuri beef was decent. I didn't love any of the seven side dishes - nothing tasted all that good. Not sure what other people in my group got, partially because the menu was confusing. For a place that prides itself on having no condiments, they need to get better at seasoning dishes.

Daniel N.

I have been to Domo many times over the years. It does have a feel for a restaurant in the countryside of Japan. Service can be a little hiy or miss, so keep that expectation in mind when going. It's worth the minor annoyance. Domo gets crazy busy on the weekends at dinner. So make reservations or find a more optional time.

cody weikel

Spectacular, delicious, special, magical, are some of the words that I would use to describe to others the experience I had @ Domo. Alot of options to choose from on the menu.

Gina L

No reservations. Get there early and still expect to wait. They do have complimentary sake in the waiting area, which is one of the best parts. The food is a little more expensive than average, but it was very tasty. They are pretty traditional and do not have soy sauce out, and you have to ask for a fork if you want it. The staff wasn't very friendly (and many did not speak English), and the menu is pretty over whelming. Still worth the experience and trying something new.

Finn Beruldsen

You'll wonder how a museum allowed a restaurant to set up shop in it. When you taste the food you'll understand why.

Kyle Crawford

Beautiful and authentic feeling. Lovely outdoor area. Great food!

Chris Della

Wonderful northern Japan experience right here in Denver. Food is of a true style and fantasticly fresh to taste. Prices are low for the portions you get. If you like Japanese food and the culture this place is a must!!

Walker Llewellyn

Good Japanese feel in a really cool setting. Sit out on the back patio if you can. A little pricey but you get a ton of food.

Nikki Ragonese

This place is one in a million. Where else can you get Japanese Country food? If you have out of town guests, this is worth visiting. The ambiance is warm & inviting. There is a lovely garden outside.

Jamie Hijmans

Excellent flavors and preparation. Lots of really good choices. The fish is absolutely incredible. It is clear that dishes are rigorously prepared and there is a lot of attention to detail from a flavor profile standpoint. For many dishes you are not given soy sauce because it is not needed. Nothing we had was disappointing. The atmosphere is great too. This is a new family staple.

joseph myers

Highly recommend. Great atmosphere and terrific food

Sasha Scheer

It's a bit price and not absolutely authentic and the staff although they know some Japanese are not Japanese people and may not be the most attentive and there was a strange sound coming from a bush in the outside sitting area which is also next to a railroad. The food was decent though ^_^

Nathan Scheer

The majority of the staff was a bit moody at the end of the day also for the price of a basic plate of curry I'm not impressed. It was Japanese curry and tasted ok, but in the end I probably won't come back. The restaurant is very interesting and the back patio area was very nice. But having lived in Japan for many years, the only thing that felt authentic to me was a forced irrashaimase. Beyond that i don't think anyone spoke Japanese which I was hoping for... But that np, the moodiness was more so. I was leaning on 2 stars but the food and the portion size made up for that. I give a 4 if there was a bit better customer service. Something to think about guys just because the day is winding down doesn't matter to me I understand but keep up with your customers till the end then go to the bar and be moody there.

John EdwardDrinane

Went here since we wanted “Japanese food” and it was New Year’s Day and all the other spots were closed. I was expecting your typical plastic covered modern profiteering place and instead was gifted with what seems like a step into a rural Japanese farmhouse of a time gone. Cool environment and art in the back. The food met the eye appeal of the building. Definitely will be going back.

Scott Booth

First class food. Great food. Very well priced. Great place for a date night or a group of friends and family

Brenden Bourdeau

Sit outside. Their garden is gorgeous, the food is great, and the bill was surprisingly cheap. (went for lunch on a Saturday) The portion for the ramen was enormous and it came with three sides of the chef's choice.

Mattie Owens

We have dined at Domo several times throughout the years and I'm not sure why I have not reviewed it before. I have been here for both lunch and dinner; and all have been great experiences. Let's start with the atmosphere. Its just truly different and unlike any other restaurant in Denver. When I bring people here for the first time, they are always amazed at how unique it is. And it is a pleasant diversion from the meal to go in and tour the museum and the Aikido training area.

embrio .

Food was top-notch, setting was entertaining (if kitschy), service was confusing. Will probably go again just for the excellent ramen and iced matcha!

Niki Launspach

The ambiance of this restaurant is marvelous. This is one of my favorite restaurants ever. Period.

Robb Classens

An Asian friend took me here for dinner. Both the ambiance and menu are unique and being my first time here, I decided to let my friend order. I’m on the fence about whether or not to go here again.

Jim Steiner

Love this place....don't be fooled by the outside great food

Sarah Jones

I had the Nabeyaki Ramen and it was easily one of the best dishes I've ever tasted. It absolutely blew all other ramen dishes I've had in Denver out of the water. Enjoying this dish in the wonderful ambiance of the garden area made for a truly exceptional dining experience. Cannot reccomend Domo enough.

Ted Martin

Very unusual and interesting cuisine. Prepared a specific way. Don't season. It's already seasoned like the chef wants it to taste. Service was great. Unusual atmosphere with Spring everything outside is green and full vines to hide the outside for a brief time to take you to Japan or close except it's more humid. Well, allot more humid than here since I have been to Japan several times. All my children come here regularly. You won't be disappointed.

Josue de la Torre

Stopped by for a late lunch on a weekday and asked to be seated at the outdoor patio by the Japanese garden. There was a short wait but the waitress was friendly and seated us promptly. We ordered dumplings, a bowl of ramen and the garlic beef special. Everything was delicious!! Gorgeous setting, highly recommended.

Mary Fuentes

Ok place for quality Japanese food. food was so tasty. certainly worth a return trip. the place has a cool feel to it. mood here is similar to fresno's scene.

Heart of Georgia Barbershop Chorus

A variety of non-traditional Japanese food. Great service....

Well worth the price, especially if you can get a seat in the garden! Probably the best Japanese fare I've had in my life! The ramen I got was delicious and it came with a donburi dish. I chose the salmon which was delicious and perfectly cooked. I really enjoyed all the side dishes and find myself craving another helping of the lotus root! The resturant and the garden are both absolutely beautiful. I really reccomend this place for a quiet date night or a relaxing dinner with friends or family. Take a minute to enjoy the museum the restaurant shares space with before you leave. They have a few interesting cultural pieces as well as some examples of Buddhist shrines and statuary that are very interesting (we didn't see much else because we ate a late dinner and they were closing when we paid our bill, but what we saw was neat).

Austin Martz

The food was delicious. The environment was uniquely Northern Japanese. The service must have just been on an off night, because we couldn't get a second beer to save a life. I also thought it was interesting that they added 20% gratuity to a 5 top.

TLDR: pros: decor, cons: everything, service and food are terrible. Honestly one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in Denver. I will start with the few pros. Pros: Decor is really nice, inside and outside have a cute Japanese feel. Side dishes were mediocre at best, I ordered a mini avocado unagi which was the only tasty food. Even the rice was mush and soggy (without having curry mixed in) We ordered 2 different shoyu ramen. The pork was just a thin slice of normal pork (not bbq) and super dry. The broth was also bland and on the sweeter side. The noodles consistency was the only thing done right. My friend ordered the salmon ramen, the salmon was not seasoned and was extremely dry. I just completed an annual return trip to Denver, and I visited Domo for dinner with my family. I hadn't been to Domo for about 5 years, and I'm happy to report it's still the great restaurant I remember from previous years. The outdoor dining is an oasis in an area where you wouldn't expect such beauty. The food we ordered (there were six of us) was all very enjoyable, and all delicious. I give Domo a Big Thumbs Up!

Luke Martinez

They missed a part of our order, but this is a beautiful setting for food that is unique in Denver.

The food really is incredible. Yes there is an extensive menu, but everything is delicious! I also quite enjoyed eating on their outdoor patio - very Japanese and so pleasant. I wish they had more staff because it would really help with how busy they are. I came in with a pretty large group, but they were very attentive and did a great job remembering most everyone's orders.

Aleksander Cronk

Amazing restaurant with cool atmosphere and beautiful patio. Great ramen and lots of delicious food and drinks!

Autumn Maier

A dining experience like no other. If you're in Denver on vacation or even just passing through make Domo a priority! The ambiance and setting of the dining room is fantastic, and their outdoor seating even more so. It's a unique dinner and their service is great as well.

Laurence Parmentier

Really nice decor and zen ambiance. However, go somewhere else if you are looking for flavor. Condiments are not even provided.

Zachariah Blechman

Amazing space that makes you feel like you're in Japan. Great food, the serving style is very traditional. Loved it.

Alex Haney

Great food, very authentic. Beautiful alfresco dining in their garden!

jia jia

Good place, I ordered the spicy avocado unagidon. It tells you how to eat properly.

Neil N

Really good Japanese food in a cozy and "traditional" setting.

Derrick Chacon

The place was downtown and I found a parking meter right away because I got there when it opened, the service was alright not spectacular and the salmon teriyaki was good not impressively good.

Rachele Olszewski

Food and decor was amazing. However service was not so great. Actually, it was BAD. We got seated immediately, but took about 10 mins for waitress to take our drink order. When waitress came back with our appetizer, she placed it on the opposite end of our table while passing by. The tables are quite large so I had to get up to bring our food over to us. The menus are quiet large and can be confusing to newcomers. The waitress seemed very annoyed and preoccupied when asked about the choices, looking off over to other tables or just elsewhere than us. We were never checked on or was our water ever replenished. We would have liked to order another round of drinks but never given an opportunity nor could we get the waitresses attention. Our bill was placed on the table without requesting it.. that let us know we weren't getting another drink and it was time to go. When we went to pay the bill and needed it split. The host asked us to do the math and handed us a calculator.. There were only 3 of us.... I wish I could give a better rating because the food was amazing, but the service was just plain awful.

BL Zero

Fantastic food if your into Ramon or udon it recamend coming here and enjoying the traditional Japanese foods

Jaala Hemingway

This is easily my favorite Japanese restaurant and among my favorite restaurants in Denver. The food is outstanding - incredibly balanced flavors, plus three varied side dishes with entrees. The decor and atmosphere are also outstanding. It feels as though you've stepped into an actual house in the Japanese countryside.

Feny Johanes

Unique experience in a traditionally decorated Japanese restaurant. Generous portions and lots choices of items to choose from.

Domo, is a great Japanese restaurant!! The atmosphere is amazing and we sat outside which was really cool and very nice! Almost romantic as well. The customer service was well above average, more like superb!! I recommend this place to everyone!! Saki was good and overall I will be coming back!! Awesome experience and smiles

Roland Tanchuan

This is for sure authentic but the flavors here are a bit bland . I love going here because of the ambiance but that’s about it . Food is so so

Harlan Stafford

Full-flavored and authentic Japanese cuisine. The portions are large and the price generally low for such distinctive culinary experiences. Come early and/or plan to wait: they do not take reservations.

Kaya Entringer

The food is amazing and they have Huge portion sizes, I could barely finish half of my bowl. The garden outside was beautiful, and I loved the classic decor inside.

Johnny Coster

Authentic food with good side dishes and tasty teriyaki chicken. The ambiance inside is fun but it can be a bit noisy outside from the surroundings, and there aren't any tables sized for couples outside. And our server had some trouble with our order. We didn't check out the museum or gardens but they seem nice.

This place is awesone!! Looks just like an Izakaya bar I went to in Japan. The food is totally authentic and it was nostalgic to eat there.

Stewart Francis

It's the best Japanese restaurant I've found

Maria Rogers

The decor for this place is out of this world!

Richard Kennedy

It was 90 degrees but we were cool sitting outside in a beautiful Japanese garden. Many choices for food and it was great.

Jennifer Lewis

The place is very unique and authentic. I love it! I've gone twice now, and both times have been great! You get a ton of food for the price, and its cooked to order! Highly recommended for people to try this at least once! My husband doesnt like Japanese food, and he said it was great! !

Susan Landa

My chicken was really fatty and gross, the "special " teriyaki sauce wasn't that special. Atmosphere was nice. Menu is very confusing.

Silas Huckins

Amazing garden, a little pricey but lots of food for the money and absolutely delicious!!! Best dinner I've had in years.

Eric Adams

The food might be good but their website advertised a 10pm closing and we showed up at 9pm. They wouldn't serve us so the customer experience leaves a lot to be desired. This might have been 3 star but my group paid for a taxi here. The outside is cool looking though.

Josue Perez

American japanese. Its good. But not real... Ramen is not ramen. Huge disappointment. It was good though

Ann Koppuzha

I don't usually like non-sushi Japanese but this was great food and great ambiance.

linda daniels

Excellent! Ahhh but don't tell people because it will be harder to get. Lol. Everything is good. Large portions. Come hungry. Sit outside! Be adventurous!

Matt Vita

The food is good but I had to take a point off for the horrific menus. That's right, it's plural. They stick all these additional pages into the actual menu and confuse the hell out of people. The menu design is quite a disaster. Food is good though and they give you a lot of it. Seems pricey between$15-$20 for a dish but it's a lot of food. I wouldn't bother with an appetizer. I'd go back to try other things.

Brandyn Madden

Most favorite Country Style Japanese place, ever! Food is always on point, staff have always been kind and courteous. Would recommend this place, every time.

Tyler Adams

Good place to eat (Asian) food good prices and tasty.

Laurie Thomas

We atmosphere here is unparalleled. The food was exquisite. we had mediocre ramen two nights before and had amazing ramen here.

Mike MacLeod

Very unique place. Ambiance is so cool. Did is really good too, definitely a must try.

William Walsh

One of the coolest restaurants I've ever been in, the atmosphere is amazing and it feels like you're stepping into the past. The food is also stellar and I would eat there two or three times a week if I could. I would recommend Ramen or the teriyaki beef.

Thundre

No vegan options, but that doesn't matter, because their food is so good you'll wanna stop being vegan to eat it. I highly recommend their udon noodles, and their service is amazing.

Jack Ray

This was a great experience. We ate at an outdoor table great scenery and delicious food. They have a great selection of items on their food and drink menus. If you like Japanese food or are curious about it this is a great place to get some.

Aleksander Cronk

Amazing restaurant with cool atmosphere and beautiful patio. Great ramen and lots of delicious food and drinks!

Larry LaMar

Great atmosphere, food was genuinely Japanese.

Autumn Maier

A dining experience like no other. If you're in Denver on vacation or even just passing through make Domo a priority! The ambiance and setting of the dining room is fantastic, and their outdoor seating even more so. It's a unique dinner and their service is great as well.
