Good food and great service
Food was excellent, and the service was very good.
Great home cooked comfort food. Great family place and Seniors on a budget will love the menu.
Great food and service. Atmosphere is perfect.
The service and food was great!
A special place I visit at least 6 times a month. Great food, fair prices and super wait staff.
Had a great lunch here. We have never been disappointed were there luncheon menu.
Food was delicious. Chantal was an excellent server.
Pretty good food, very good service.
The service was good very disappointed in the food we have not been there for about a year and do not plan on going back we used to go every holiday and Mother's Day for dinner but it was very disappointing
Since arrival 1 hour 15 minutes to get food. No hospitality. Cold to warm food. But she still got a heck of a tip cuz my father in law felt sorry for the server, even though she could never remember a thing (30 minutes of, the food is coming, DO NOT ARRIVE AFTER 7PM THEY CUT STAFF AND READY TO GO AND IT WAS THE WEEKEND
Ate here for the first time tonight. Pleasant atmosphere and very pleasant waiter. I had shrimp scampi. It was good but the shrimp was a little overcooked and a little rubbery. Sides were good. My husband had meat loaf which was mediocre and hardly warm. He won't be ordering this again. Sides we're good. Fresh yeast rolls are good. Overall, it was a pleasant meal, but will probably require a few more trips to find meals that are more to our liking.
Great place, great food everything was pleasent
It was good. Just wish the service was better
Just the right sized portions. Most places we'd been, served portions were huge.
Good food, good service, good prices.
We went here around 3 pm so it wasn't super busy. The waitress was super friendly and very good...we never wanted for anything. We had fried mushrooms with ranch dressing and they were really good. Not greasy at all and they make their ranch dressing so it's really good too. I had fried chicken tenderloins with a salad and french fries. The chicken was delicious and was served with super yummy white gravy. Didn't like the french fries as much (maybe it was the way they were fried but they weren't normal fries). Couldn't believe the size of the tenderloins and I got the 5 piece so I'll have 2 more meals! Another person had a burger that they said was very juicy and tasted yummy. Our third person had the grilled fish and she liked that very much too. You can't possibly leave there not filled to the gills. The prices were definitely fair, the service excellent and the food delicious. We'll be back.
Always great food and service. This is our go too place to get away from the rat race of eating out. Nice and quiet later in the evening, we like it. I dig the fresh rolls as well. I don't need a fast food experience when I'm sitting down to a meal and we can chill and have a drink or two afterwards. Never had a bad experience at this restaurant in all the years it's been here.
Loved it! One poor girl seemed to be doing the majority of the work, took 5 min to even be greeted & seated with maybe 5 tables of people total in there. But food and service was great! Had Irish pie & highly recommend it
Waiter was super nice and their fried corn was super good. It didn't take long for the food to come
Always huge plates, great service.
Great prices on senior menu great food and choice
I asked the server is your chicken fried steak like Cracker Barrel. She looked at me and said Cracker Barrel sucks. I had to agree with her when it came to the chicken fried steak. The one I had a Cracker Barrel was free formed in Frozen. She told me they make there's fresh in the back. It was also the Monday nights special I was in the mood for comfort food and so was my companion. What I ordered was extremely delicious except a bit overcooked. But I could tell it was freshly made in the back. I will go back to this restaurant again. And our server even though she only looks 16 and I would card her for a candy bar she did an awesome job. I wish they had black eyed pea restaurants in Albuquerque again
Always good to eat here.
Great menu. The best chicken fried chicken in Colorado hands down.
I love dining at any Black-eyed Pea because the menu is consistently great at all of them. Our server today was Robert and was one of the best and most attentive I've had in a long time! Food and service like this is rare in today's dining establishments.
The service and food was worth the trip! We will definitely be back.
We were seated immediately upon entering the restaurant and our server took our drink orders and returned with our drinks promptly. We placed our orders and our food was delivered to us quickly. Our food was fresh, hot and delicious and there was plenty of it but be sure to leave room for dessert because the chocolate cake is awesome! We enjoyed our visit to Black-eyed Pea.
Haven't been here for quite awhile, not sure why. Love the rolls, hot and fresh. Chicken fried chicken, enough for 2!!
Overall pretty good food, some items were heavy on the salt. Service was excellent
Best chicken-fried chicken and steak in town!
Now that's a home-cooked meal for 899 fabulous
OMG. The chicken and dumplings are outstanding! Thursday special. I think this will be our day to have lunch on Thursday's! Service was great and quick even though it was pretty crowded.
Home style cooking. Kimberly was a very accommodating waitress with our allergies. I would recommend this restaurant.
Good down home cooking. Great place to meet up with friends or family
I've been looking for a good place to get fried chicken in the Springs, and we ordered takeout here for the first time last night. Every single item was perfect and seasoned well. I'm eating the leftovers now for lunch. We'll definitely be back here!
Good food reasonable prices
This restaurant has always been clean, and the staff has almost always been friendly. The complimentary bread and rolls are so good, and the portions are a generous size. I think they easily have some of the best chicken tenders and burgers in town and the side/veggies selection is very large. Food tastes homemade, esp the desserts, which is a very good thing. Must say I do love coming here.
Since all of the Texas locations near me are gone, I had to stop here while in Colorado! Everything was just as I remembered it, maybe even better. Chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes and broccoli rice casserole were all very yummy! If I could squeeze in one more visit before we left, I would!
Great food, Fast and friendly service with reasonable prices. Can't wait to go back!
I had tonight's special and was very impressed. They changed this menu item to a fresh a delishious dish.
Food was great! Was bit warm ..
It's a warm family style restaurant with a comfortable menu. They also have a bar with a TV. Good service and good food.
Great service... delicious food..priced Right!
Great food and Service.
First time at this Black-eyed Pea. Food and service was very good. Will stop here again.
Worst place ive ever eaten....my steak was raw and complete fat not rare like i asked for...the hostess ignored us for 15 mins and they didnt even offer to fix my food....this place beyond sucked
Not a bad place to eat
Best for home cooked meals
The waitress was very friendly and did a great job. The food was really good and fresh. This is the best BEP I have been to and I would recommend it the cheese broccoli soup and chicken parmigiana.
My family decided to eat out this year, and decided to come to Black Eyed Pea, as we have had good results in the past with their regular menu. They had a special "prix fix" menu for Thanksgiving. Not a whole lot of choice, but that is what we expected. There was ham, turkey, their famous slooow cooked pot roast, and for a bit more $$ you could get a hefty portion of prime rib. Price this year (2018) was $18 for the meal, which included all of the usual fixings including 2 choices from a ton of sides. While we waited for our entrees, they brought us cornbread and rolls and locally sourced real honey. Service was great without being pushy. The manager was friendly and wished us a good evening on the way out. I would invite anybody to try them when you want a nice meal that looks and tastes like it was home-cooked.
Made from scratch meals. Kids eat free with each adult.
Service was good. Got the shepherds pie. Very delicious
Just landed. I was craving Black-eyed Pea! They have life and fresh fish!!!! Lots of delicious menu choices. I can see the chefs making the food. This place is very fancy. We got a bottle of wine to enjoy with our meals! The staff is so friendly.
Great Ribs! Great bread with butter and honey and great corn bread! Great servers!
It had been a long time since I ate here and really enjoyed my last visit. Plenty of choices on the menu and the service was great. Not bad for a chain restaurant. I had the cob salad and thought it was pretty decent.
Good service. Good food.
Great all American restaurant!! Excellent food with homemade taste
Took forever to get served and food was stail.
The staff here are always fast, friendly and efficient
I love the rolls and cornbread
Nice place to eat and have conversation with friends and family
Was good food, good people, needs a few more things on the menu
We use to love going to Black Eyed Pea this location is rundown and tired. The photos show the equipment that is visible in the bar area. There are floor drains within feet but instead they just have pans catching any beer waste. In addition if you do curbside. They want you to park on the side then walk around to the front door so hardly curbside. Carpets and floors are dirty and appears no deep cleaning is done at this location.
Actually pleasantly surprised. However my mother had the broccoli cheese soup and it was barely edible. It is kind of difficult to describe without sounding distasteful, but it was just too much cheese. My sister and I had a burger and my other sister had a salad. Those two things are kind of esoteric but they came out pretty good.
Not enough servers. Had problems getting service.
Country style cooking. Reasonable prices. You get a lot of food
Good ole American comfort food with a lot of veggie choices.
I went for breakfast. Not the best. Not the worst. Block out a LOT of time if you want to try it. Very friendly staff and a warm atmosphere. Just slow. The food was okay.
Initially, the food was good. However, I want up with food poisoning. I'm sick all day Monday and I could not go to work.I don't know what happened, I suspect the salmon may not have been good.
Amazing giant cinnamon rolls
Great service and food. We love their healthier kid meal options.
Love this place! Especially for breakfast! The Castle Rock location is one of two BEPs in the metro area that does breakfast but Lordy, we love it! The food is spectacular and we are extra loyal to Janice, who always makes us feel right at home.
Always good family food!
Great food, great service. Salmon was perfect.
Hamburger melt was superb!
Large menu. Very nice wait staff.
While the staff was very friendly and helpful they seemed to forget common things
The good here is consistently well prepared. I had the chicken fried chicken.
The lunch food was good, but I was a bit surprised at how long it took to get it. The restaurant was not overly busy. Soups and salads should not take long to get to the table.
Always a great place to eat. Tried the new BBQ chicken salad and it was great. Size was just right with the right amount of dressing. The BBQ ranch dressing was flavorful and brings that great summer taste to this salad. As always, service was great. We always enjoy taking the family here.
Our food was good and our waitress Mariah was the best!
THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE. The food is not fresh and I watched the workers there grab food with their bare hands and put it on the plate before serving to a customer. The silverware was dirty when given to us. The restaurant was dirty and being five feet away from the restrooms we could smell the odor. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! Do not waste your money on unsanitary food and environment. No wonder the other Black Eyed Peas have shut down around the country.
Good food good service, great place to go in Castle Rock!
Good food, decent prices, great service!
They used to have a real good Thanksgiving dinner. The last time I got it, someone got the bright idea to put sweetener in the dressing. Haven't been back since.
I enjoyed the food but the the chicken, and the red beans and rice was little bit to salty for me. Overall the food was delicious
Great place!
Great prices great food great service!
Amazing service , great atmosphere, food is southern homestyle
Simply amazing
Now I know why it was empty on a Friday night.
Always very good, home cooked meal like mom made
After a long day of driving and walking this was a great meal. The location next to our hotel was a most welcoming site. The wait staff was very pleasant even though we sat down 30 min closing, for which we were very thankful. The country fried steak and chicken were excellent as were the side. I think the strong drinks were the best part!
Yum! Good home cooked style menu that doesn't disappointe. From fried corn on the cob to yellow squash casserole. It is all good
Excellent service and good southern food.
Never again..Amanda needs to be fired. Appalling immaturity. Waitress tried to push unwanted food on me, of course without informing me that it would cost more. I had to tell her THREE times that I wanted the food exactly as it was written on the menu, and with nothing else added. Ridiculous!! Then, I guess that poor waitress was so emotionally distraught that another waitress came to deliver SOMETHING I NEVER ORDERED, even though my actual order was simple and straight forward. THEN she had the lack of class to call me an ageist slur. I asked for manager, who had the double lack of class to argue with me about how the slur was a matter of opinion and some people did not mind. Her name was Amanda. I educated her on protected classes when it comes to discrimination, and age is most certainly one of them. She held her stance that the slur was OK. NOT WHEN THE LAW SAYS IT IS NOT!!!! I told her I wanted the food I originally ordered and I wanted it free. She did that, but we were ignored the rest of the night. The manager has clearly had no leadership training and needs, in addition to a weight loss program, some anger management. Come to think of it, ALL the staff was fat with very tight fitting clothes except Parker. Who is counting the biscuits?? Amanda was so rude, and poor thing, so ignorant, that I informed her I would be contacting her boss, as should all patrons who are treated poorly. Amanda said to me, in front of her other customers, "We do not need people like you here". Oh, intelligent people who will stand up for themselves when a 19 year old waitress feels free to use a slur on them? Or could it be the person who demands respect and food that they actually ordered? After paying, I picked up my iced tea, which I paid $3.05 for, and was finishing it, and Amanda yelled across the room for me to "Get out". Lordy!!! Get this woman some training. If you insist I can not drink my drink, you best be prepared to refund it. I ignored Amanda and drank my ice tea, SINCE I DID JUST PAY FOR IT. Parker the host/bus boy was the nicest person there that I encountered, and also seemed to be the hardest worker. He also he had the dignity and the sense to NOT wear tight fitting clothes. If you are wanting normal IQ, a manager who is mature and has some training, and food delivered correct the first time, this may not be the place for you.
For amazing home style dishes, great selection and value they're second to none. Their oven fresh rolls and cornbread, served warm when seated, has always been my favorite value point. Very friendly host and my server Jose appeared to love his job and was very attentive.
The food was awesome! Haven't eaten at a Black Eyed Pea in more than 10 years and it's still so good! My service however could have been better, Chantel was my server. She forgot my roll, she did bring it 10 mins later. But I didn't see her again until she brought the check. It was at least 30 mins and she never asked me how my meal was?? I didn't tip her very well because of her service. I drove all the way from Cheyenne Wyoming. But the food was
Truly good service. Enjoyed the food. Will be back.
Okay so I like to always be honest in my reviews for Google. I have to rate black eyed pea five stars for the simple fact of place being very clean friendly staff and we got our food in record time. I ordered the chicken-fried steak Angus with macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes. For a comfort food type establishment I have to rate their chicken fried steak five stars it was the best chicken fried steak I have had in a restaurant the food came piping hot my only disappointment was the sides they also were tasty hot and fresh but the portions we're pretty small for the asking price. My wife had half a rack of ribs fried okra and red beans and rice. I tried all of it being her dishes and the ribs we're on point as well as the fried okra and I have to rent Rave about the red beans and rice. Overall I would highly recommend this place and I would definitely return.
My ribeye was over cooked. Sweet potatoe was not all the way done. Their butter dont melt (processed)
Family style food. Love it!
Always a good meal
The chicken fried steak was pink and raw inside! They took it off our check but we were so grossed out! Never going back there again! Yuck!
We had the American sampler. I had the chicken pot pie and I would recommend that highly. My wife had the southwest chicken melt and she loved. I would highly recommend this is a place to eat at dinner.
I went to Black Eyed Pea with a group of men from our mobile home park. We all received very good food. The service was a little slow but acceptable.
Today was my first time going into Black-Eyed Pea and it was, in my personal opinion, amazing! The service was over the top and the food was delicious! The hostess not only open the door for us when we arrived but also open the doors as we left, in my eyes that is above and beyond customer service nowadays! Our wait staff was awesome as well! They were slammed but they did have a rush and even with that rush he didn't forget about us or our needs! I really wish I could've remember their names but the cheddar and broccoli soup and house salad was so delicious I can't even remember. And if you get a chance you HAVE to try their strawberry lemonade! So delicious and free refills!
Glad we still have a Colorado Springs great place good basic food usually good service and a good value for your money
Great food and wonderful service. We left fully satisfied and will certainly be back.
Good food with good portions. Open setting. The Mac and cheese was great!
Ea Waitress was very attentive. Food as always was good.
Good food, great atmosphere. Will always come back for the bread and veggies!
This place is solid, with great service. Jalapeno gravy on chicken fried steak was awesome, and the rolls with honey. Large portions.
The food is so Authentic and all is home made. Absolutely great place to eat !
Cold food, slow service. Will not go back
EXCELLENT Service, food was very tasty and hot I would recommend this establishment to everyone for dinning...
Super good home cooked style of meals. Everything I tried was really good.
Great food and service!
Great glazed carrots & steamed broccoli
Very peaceful environment... Great staff and amazing food that tastes fresh and very homemade. Plus, this restaurant has a in house bar to relax your nerves Even the fact I'm only getting a coke. This bar is good for the ones that takes s load off with a drink and some food. I recommend
Never waited so long for a cup of soup in my life! Would understand if busy but there were only 4 tables sat and 3 waitress... Probably won't return ..
Bad service. Another waitress came and took our order as the server for our table never came . Waited 20 minutes for someone to show up to our table.
Its not bad but not great. I had chicken fried steak and chicken fingers. Kids shrimp was surprisingly good. The other kid got pasta with marinara but marinara was way over cooked. Wifes pot roast was good to.
Great food, ok service
Chicken fried chicken is always the best!
Food and service was excellent
I love black eyed pea, chicken fried everything!
Busy but the food was delicious.
Nice food but resteraunt wasn't what I expected its got a pub like atmosphere, very nice place
Not very good at all. No one liked their dinner.
Staff was nice and attentive. Food was excellent.
Great job with a big group
Decent breakfast on the weekends and no waiting.. worth a try if you're hungry and don't want the wait
Big portions! I ordered the sweet tea which was so good, rack of ribs (full sized y'all)Mac and cheese with fries. Our waiter was so courteous and polite!
The food was fantastic. The server never came back to ask us about our food our refill our drinks, we had to ask for our check from another server because we had already cleaned the table and piled all the dishes at the end, trying to wait patiently. She brought us our check and still didn't ask how our dinners were. Good thing for a great cook!!!
Great service. Food is good for this type of restaurant. Not many of these locations left.
The food is decent, however, the chicken and dumplings chicken tastes like canned chicken rather than the traditional way grandma would make it from pulling chicken off the bone. This location, and others, struggle with experienced wait staff. The server this evening was overwhelmed with our party of 7. The host was not very knowledgable about the menu when asked about the menu. The restroom was different. There is a TV over the toilet to watch. Maybe they could save money to pay for better food and servers.
Metal in the mashed potatoes, that cut my mouth! The restaurant manager came over and I showed her the metal. The managers response was "Oh, that's not good." Then she walked away, and never came back to the table to ask if I was hurt by the metal, nothing. The waitress came back to the table 7 minutes later, and asked if I wanted to have something else. Mashed potatoes were all I was having, so I replied "No thank you." I also told the waitress that I believed there was some metal in my 1st bite as well, but thought maybe it was a hard piece of the peel and drank water to get it down. The waitress responded by saying "what? I Know my manager told me." I never was asked anything by the manager, so she couldn't have known. The waitress never refilled my water, and from that point on only paid attention to the man I was having dinner with. Handled EXTREMELY poorly. They did remove the mashed potatoes from the bill, and gave my friend a discount on his meal. While this is kind, he had nothing wrong with his dinner.
We just ate here! Wow! It was AMAZING!!! We will seek this restaurant in our travels!! Thank you Black Eyed Pea!!
First of all the servers were very slow at best and I had to ask three times for extras on my order. I specifically asked for brown gravy for my mashed potatoes and extra lemons for my salmon. Our wait time was a little longer than we would have liked and when our food was finally brought out (by a different girl) my mashed potatoes had white gravy and I had one lemon wedge. So I told the New girl that I wanted brown gravy and extra lemons, she apologised and went back to the kitchen. Now the manager comes out 5 minutes later and asked if everything was ok. I explained that I got the wrong gravy and no extra lemons but that someone was bringing it out. He stood there hands on his hips waiting for my original server to come out, who was now bringing me mashed potatoes with brown gravy. But, no lemons. So a third time I ask for extra lemons and out original server brought them out promptly. Overall the food was good, but the waiting game and asking multiple times was not fun. Maybe you shouldn't ask for extras at this place?
The food was delicious. Our server was awesome!!! I recommend the Southwestern Wrap with tater tots!!! Corn bread, oh my gosh!
25 minutes to get our order We had 2- 2 piece dinners with a root beer freeze and cheese curds. Should have taken 10 minutes at most. I had to show them my receipt, with the time stamp of 12:43 to get our food at 1:07. Rediculous. Not even an apology or anything offered to soften the blow.
Good services good environment
Service was good, food was served only warm, but it did taste good.
Great atmosphere, service, and food. Wait staff was great. I've noticed portions are smaller than the last time and prices have gone up. Will go back again.
This place was clean staff was great. The food was actually cooked the way I ordered it. I had a great time.
This is our go-to restaurant. We have not been disappointed on any of our visits here. Great place!
I wish I could give it zero stars. My son's turkey was rubbery and pink. My chicken tasted awful. I had a bad experience at this chain closer to my home and wanted to give it another shot at a different location. Nope. Never again. Was absolutely awful.
We ordered $60 worth of food through Door Dash and didn’t receive utensils, the side sauces, no butter for the baked potato, no dressing on the chicken sandwich...DRY, DRY, DRY! No rolls or cornbread. Will never order from Black-Eyed Pea again. I don’t blame Door Dash, they just pick up the order.
The waitress's are beautiful the food always overcooked.
Although they have a pretty big selection the food was just ok. I tried the country fried chicken which was the special- chewy piece of meat, not what I was expecting. The jalapeno gravy was not bad but the chicken itself was a disappointing. Chicken and rice soup was bland. We had a big group and mostly water drinkers, she didn't come back to check on us nearly enough. Might go back to give 1 more try.
You get what you expect. Good food and plenty of it.
Perfect home cooked meal on a cold fall night!
The incredible menu! Next would be that the food is cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is relaxing, and one of the few places where you can hear yourself think! Stay as you are.
The mashed potatoes came out with about 1/4 inch of grease on the top of them. Didn't even touch them. Definitely won't return to this store. It used to be decent a few years ago but has gone hill horribly
I visited this restaurant today for the first team with a bunch of my work colleagues. Not sure what all the hype about this place is all about. The location is okay, parking is adequate, we were welcomed upon entering the restaurant, seated in a couple of minutes at a table for the 7 of us, our beverage order was taken in a couple of minutes, the beverages arrived in 3-4 minutes, took our orders, they arrived in an average amount of time, the food was tasty, but not extraordinary, the prices for food were $9-13 for most lunch orders, they brought out lots of bread, the dining room was kind of crowded and basically clean. Average.
Great menu! I had count fried chicken with jalapeno gravy and it was amazing!
Good food, made as we asked server! Medium burger was medium, fries with light seasoning. Olivia Danielle was great server too.
Hearty portions, comfort foods.
Real home cooking prices are a little high but well worth it.
Good food and service
The food was decent. My issue is with the bait and switch when I got my check. I wanted a wedge salad and mashed potatoes. I was told I could substitute my two sides with my wedge salad and add the mash. I got the bill and I was still up charged on the salad. I questioned her on it and she didn't see anything wrong with it. She didn't tell me about the additional upcharge after replacing my two sides.
I love there Chicken Fried steak!
The food & service we're both great!
Went here for dinner last night. Food was good but our waitress was terrible. It took her 15 minutes to bring me steak sauce because she was bragging to the tables next to and behind us about how she's the only certified trainer in the building. She even went as far as saying she is the best server in the restaurant. This may be true but only for the tables she chooses to pay attention to. Our bill came out to about $35, we paid with a $50 and she had the nerve to ask us if we wanted change. Uh, yeah, I'm not tipping you 40% for being avoided all night. This led to another 10 - 15 minute wait just to get change. Not a bad meal but avoid the server in the green shirt. She seemed super proud to be the only one wearing green.
Food was not warm. Pricey and did not taste good.
We went for prime rib night was told this location was not doing this. We had been to the colorado springs location weekend before and they did have it. Waitress showed us the menu for this Friday and sat special and than said this location was not doing the special and would not be. Why show us these special if they are not doing.
Haven't had a bad experience here. Food was great and timely. Resturant seemed clean to me. Will return again.
Great food. Very reasonable prices. Very friendly staff.
Visiting from out of town and LOVE it. Was not expecting this at all. Check this place out!
We were at the Black-eyed Pea at I25 and Garden of The God's road. I found the wait staff very helpful and pleasant. The food was well plated and very good.
Clean, with a friendly staff. We usually visit at lunch, and the service is always fast and courteous. Generous portions - I always end up taking at least half home. Good tea. Always check out the daily specials and the dessert menu. They have tasty banana pudding!
Excellent food and service at a tremendous value!
Enjoyed the Monday chicken fried steak special.
I'm giving them 5 stars because of their pork chops! They are marinated overnight and are the juiciest chops I've ever had. They are so tasty as well. This is my favorite dish from them so far. Order the corn. They give you a whole cob (friend or grilled)! They will even cut it off the cob for you if you want. And of course their rolls and cornbread are delicious. Some people don't like sweet corn bread, but I love it there. The rims of the cornbread muffins here are crispy and the muffin is light and fluffy. I'm not fond of the traditional dry as sand, tasteless, crumbly, real southern corn muffins I guess. This is how my die hard traditional corn muffin lovin' friends tell me they should be. No thanks. Anyway, I used to work at a Black Eyed Pea about 20 years ago and hadn't visited one for almost that long. Recently was reintroduced to it and I now go there regularly. I never should have stopped. They also have daily specials (discounted regular menu items) so check those out for some savings!
The food, service, and atmosphere were great. Gluten free choices. Southern home style cooking. Loved it.
Excellent food!!! Miss these in Virginia
Disappointed in my old favs. They we're really salty! Maybe I'm just getting old, lol.
Great menu, delicious food & great service.
Why Black-Eyed Pea isn't more popular, I will never understand. Good, homestyle food that is affordable. Perfect place for lunch with friends.
Very nice place. Great food. Service was great, not crazy loud.
Expensive not great service
Very good home cooking with excellent service. Pleasant surroundings and many repeat customers.
It was my first experience at this restaurant. Good food good service nice atmosphere and they even have a senior menu that is very affordable and includes a beverage.
Food's good, staff is friendly.
Good food. Never a line so you can get seated 5ight away.
Very yummy food and great service
The take out items were packaged separately from one another one another, the food's texture was maintained. Food tasted great and very kind staff.
This chain has mostly disappeared in Colorado. The food remains high quality, the staff is knowledgable and friendly, and the ambience is perfect for sharing lunch with friends. I just wish there were more Black Eyed Peas around.
Cant go wrong with chicken fried steak.
They tolerate a lot, great staff
Southern comfort food at its finest. I had their chicken tenders and pot roast combo. Delish! Potato skin appetizer also great Not for those watching their fat intake.
When we got our food it tasted old. Like it sat out under a heat lamp for an hour. When we complained, they said it doesn't sit out under a lap but on the griddle. So they will cook something like, for example, hash browns or sausage, for an hour then serve it to you. When we said we weren't satisfied with any part of our meal and wouldn't even eat it they offered a $2 discount. We asked to see the manager he came out and immediately compensated our meal but had absolutely no concern as to why the food was awful. This tells me a couple things. 1. They are happy to have their food sit and cook for an hour before serving it to a customer. 2. They don't care about customer satisfaction but they do care about their bottom line, profits. 3. The manager is lazy. If a restaurant won't cook food to order because that's too expensive for them then I can't imagine what other shortcuts they're taking. "Pinching pennies to save a dime." What happens when the mayo is expired? Would they throw it out or would they serve it up like they do with hours old sausage? What happens when they run out of dish soap? Do they just scrub until it looks clean or will they send it out and claim it's clean like they claim their hash browns are cooked? How can I possibly trust anything that comes from this place if the manager cares so little that he won't have the food cooked to order or even show fake interest in why we were so unhappy? Never again will I eat there. Not this one or any other Black Eyed Peas restaurant.
Great food staff was great made my son's birthday dinner a great success
Good service. Environment needs to be updated. Food good but not excellent. Lots of families dining. We went for lunch. Chicken fried steak was as expected, but patty melt was cool and soggy. This was a place we frequently visited but after a 6mo reprieve, we will not be returning any time soo .
Love this place and location is perfect. Corn bread and honey...yummy! Fried okra is so good!
Good food and excellent waiter who took better care of me than anyone in a long time
The food was good. The wait staff was lacking in the small things. Had to remind them about items ordered. Side salad was delivered after the meal was delivered. Water refills were sparse. It was an hour before closing, so I get that attention to detail is less focused on the customer and more about cleaning up and wanting to get out of there. That may have been the issue.
The waitress was pleasant enough and friendly. They didn't really know what was supposed to come in their meals... What was delivered vs. what was started on the menu, but were quick to fix it when it was pointed out. The bill in one item was slightly higher than the menu price but again, they were pleasant and super quick to adjust it. They've just switched over to a new system so there were some kinks to work out but that didn't stop them from quickly fixing any problems and work a friendly and apologetic attitude. Made for a very pleasant experience.
Good ol' home style cooking
Good quality and consistent menu
People were friendly prices good , im not a fan of the food
Good food and service.
And rolls and cornbread Excellent ribs. We really enjoyed it although the salmon pieces were quite small for the price. Flavors were all very good. Guys loved the warm rolls!
The food was a bit Salty, but otherwise ok
One of my favorite restaurants. The portions are filling and the food is always great!
Good food good service
It's was very good and the server was very nice and friendly. The food is good .
Super good food, staff was friendly. The area is very nice. Its situated next to the awesome outlets, mountain view!!!!!
Food is good and the home baked rolls and cornbread is to die for.
This place is amazing, food is DELICIOUS, decent prices and great staff!
The service was great and the food was awesome. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a good meal around friendly people.
Delicious food. Spicy
Such great food, clean bathrooms, nice staff, good service and good veiws
Best chicken tenders in town. Hot rolls with butter and honey. Affordable prices and generous portions. Always leftovers to eat later.
It was good. I forgot my to go box. Went back in about 3 minutes later and the waitress had thrown it away. Dang!
The Black Eyed Pea catered my wedding this past February at the Chateaux at Fox Meadows. Everyone raved about the food! It was perfect. They even cut our cake for us. Great food, great service!
Good food at good prices
Great food, great service. We were a group of about 10 and the service and food was spot on. Great place to get a home cooked meal. Try the chicken fried steak...incredible.
I loved the Menu and the people I went up with.
Always good food and quick service. High recommended place to eat in Castle Rock
What's not to like about the Black-eyed Pea. Good comfort food, very pleasant and attentive service, generous servings and reasonable prices. Always a good option if you want a relaxed meal with no waiting.
You can never go wrong with Black-eyed Pea. This place has one of the bigger menus I've seen at a place like this. This place has a bar and a surprisingly large kids menu. Prices are acceptable for foods that would be considered fancy along with casual food for decent prices. This place is great for any occasion, I would recommend it to everyone.
The service was very horrible our waiter left outside with friends right after giving it food which was not that great by the way. Then my husband went to the car to get his card because he was not leaving a tip with cash, the Manager looked at me like I was gonna walk out with 2 kids and not pay he literally watched me until My husband came back. I will never come back.
Food was good and hot. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive.
Food was good but service and prices were not the best.
This is a great place to take a large group or family, they have a wide selection of traditional dishes that will satisfy most anyone, and the service is friendly and very helpful. Located near great shopping and just off I-25 make it super convenient.
Service was good. Mackenzie was our waitress and she did awesome. It was lunch time so it was a little loud but I informed the host that I had a slight headache and would like to be in a quieter area. He took us to an area where we were the only ones sitting there for about 30 minutes. Everything was great.
Not so good anymore last experience was not up to expectations
FOR VEGETARIANS: I recommend vegetarians NEVER come here. The waiters lie if you ask if something is vegetarian. I asked if the broccoli cheddar soup was vegetarian, and they said yes. So I got that, and the first bite I took had a HUGE piece of turkey in it. I quickly panicked and checked to see if there was more, and there was a bunch more in there! NOT A VEGETARIAN RESTAURANT!!!!!!!
All the staff was absolutely wonderful
Good food and great service.
YGreat we loved the Food! This place was amazing and the service was great. I wish there was one in Missouri A huge menu selection and if you're looking for home cooking this is the place. It's a great price too
Chicken fried chicken! Big portions, very quiet cozy place, delicious.
Quick service. Very friendly and attentive. Food was good. Lots of choices. Great selection
1. Fantastic service! Megan has her act together, knows how to do the job and does it! 2. Fantastic food! The cooks were on point tonight. Everything was perfect! These folks did not let down the team. If we lived in the area, we would be back!
Have eaten here several times and have not been disappointed yet. Great tasting food (ordered the turkey breast dinner) Customer service has been excellent everytime I've eaten there. Would recommend this restaurant.
Absolutely delicious!!! Will continue to go back. Lots of food for the price you pay.
This was my first time at Black-eyed Pea & it was wonderful!! Our waitress Shawntell was wonderful! I had deep fried corn on the cob tonight for the first time & it was amazing! The pork chops were so moist and great flavor! Thank you Wanda from WISCONSIN
Black Eye Pea is one of my favorite restaurants. I really enjoy the rolls, market mushrooms appetizer and the broccoli cheese soup. This particular location wasn't busy when my aunt and I visited on a Tuesday afternoon. Our server was attentive and when we sat to chat awhile, she didn't seem in a rush to hurry us out. The only thing that could have been better was to not be seated right by the restrooms when there were other booths available.
I love the Black-eyed Pea Restaurant so much for their wonderful food and cozy atmosphere.
My orders (as pain in the butt as they are) have been consistently correct. The service has been prompt and attentive without being overly intrusive. The food was good - I could nit pick, but the quality for the price is downright stellar.
We were the last ones in and still the food was great!
The cornbread was like a stone. I didn’t bother trying to eat any more after the first one. The bread they gave was just wonder-bread and suspicious tasting. They served me fried vomit. Yes—fried vomit. Everything here is fried. There is another review that says they ended up liking the water more than the food. I couldn’t agree more!!! This is a cheap fast-food restaurant that will make you feel poor. Either cook your own food for less or pay up to get higher quality food. Either way, don’t come here.
Very good food and atmosphere. Waitstaff were very friendly. Strawberry lemonade was excellent.
The food is wonderful. Service was good even though they were working understaffed.
Great food and service
Best food ever
Awesome food, atmosphere and service. Highly recommend!
Can't beat BEP for good 'ole Southern home cooking!
We have been going to Black eyed pea for years and years. They have increased their prices noticeably and service was remarkably slow today. It is my understanding they were short two servers, but this was not typical of their usual good service.
I actually ate at the original Black Eyed Pea. It was this little Irish dive bar called Prufrocks or something close to that in Dallas. The big deal was to get a chicken fried steak as big as your plate for cheap. It was the best I ever had to this day. Now this. Ugh.
Great food. Great service. Always consistent
The food was delicious. They had my food cooked in a good amount of time. I liked the senior menu. It had a variety of choices and the prices were very reasonable. Very nice place.
The best mexican food!!
The food was very good
Good food good service great menu
Service was great, food came out quick and it was excellent! Highly recommended.
Normally we don’t mind Black Eyed Pea once in awhile. It’s usually a family friendly restaurant with good sized portions and consistent food. This was probably one of the worst experiences we’ve had in a long time. The food overall was just okay. Rolls and cornbread were cold and somewhat dry, cold and soggy fries, luke warm sides, took 10-15 minutes to get drinks and order....also a few small annoying things like no croutons on salads and smaller portions than usual. Our waitress put a happy face on and was pleasant when serving our table (which we appreciated) but it was apparent that she and the other servers weren’t too happy. Maybe it was just a bad day? Maybe they were understaffed during that time? I don’t know. We are use to the Castle Rock location. Wouldn’t go back to this one.
Broccoli cheese soup had odd taste.
Omg so good I could eat here like everyday!
Hot rolls and good service..good was really good.
Wonderful meal, good service
Though a chain, this one is still worth it. Really yummy home-like cooking. They're vegetables are insanely tasty, yet the breads, salads and of course the meats are not falling by the waste side. Only thing that urked me and made me remove a star was the waiting staff. First we had to stand at the entrance for about 5 min, while 2 employees were talking in the bar and I guess neither felt like getting up and seat us. Then our assigned waitress, yes she was super nice, but clearly scatterbrained. The entree came out while I was still cutting on my first piece of our appetizer. Gimme just a few minutes to enjoy what we ordered. We had to ask for our bread twice and we got it after everything else was already on the table. Then we asked for A1 sauce. Let's just say the gravy had turned into a big clump already and his food was pretty much completely cold by the time we finally got it. She did apologize for her lack of attention and she either forgot to charge us for one drink or we were comped. I didn't even notice until we were home or I would have asked. If it was comped, thank you kindly. One thing with us when we eat out, I don't go in any establishment with the mindset that I can get something for free. I just really want a smooth transaction, that's why we are eating out, I would love to find a restaurant where I can just go in, not get the booth by the bathroom and have a good meal. Not for nothing, BEP is definitely in the top 10% in Colorado Springs for me.
Chicken fried steak was tough
Very friendly service, fair prices, and great food.
Food was good, service was good. Place was clean!
Good food, great service. Thank you Megan.
Great fried mushrooms
Well prepared food and generous portions
Great food!!! superb service!!!! Was pleasantly surprised how comfortable it was! Been awhile since I visited a black-eye pea and wondered why it had been so long since my last visit! Down from Denver and next buisness trip will definitely stop in again! Fantastic place for a quiet and relaxing meal!!!
The waitress was excellent, but the food was bland and really had no taste. The chicken was rubbery and tough.
Meal wasn't that good. The cobbler was delicious. Serving staff did a wonderful job taking care of our group of 30.
Server was really. I would recommend sharing the Mac and cheese. Great food I will go there again
Nice place for seniors and family to eat. Atmosphere needs an overhaul.
Super friendly (although very busy) staff, but they still did an excellent job. Food was good, and decently priced. If you are staying in the hotel next door, you'll get a discount here.
Havent ate here in years and l cleaned my plate. It was good
Good food, bland service, Happy Hour price for small class of wine $7:00!
Excellent. If there were more than five stars available I would give them. The staff is very friendly, love the ambience is very very welcoming and they actually make pretty good drip coffee. That’s not common in the United States. If you’re in Colorado Springs, you definitely should visit. Little difficult getting a parking space though, consider coming after 5 PM and people of gone home from work
Okay, so I JUST walked out of this Black Eyed Pea off Garden of the Gods Rd after having Jeff as our server and I am FLOORED. This was the best, most thorough service I have ever had. Ever. He asked exact questions to make sure our meal was PERFECT, his attitude was so fabulous, he was attentive and kind, and 2 of the 2 members in our party had chicken tenders that they said was THE BEST they've ever had. I personally had the grilled salmon that I would come back for. We are out of towners and chose Black Eyed Pea out of convenience to our hotel and walked out with more superlatives than we've ever given a restaurant. Jeff was hands down the best server we ever had. I would 10/10 recommend this restaurant to both Colorado natives and tourists alike. I know it's a chain, but genuinely worth the stop at this location.
Great atmosphere. Kid friendly. Average prices. Food that moms would of prepared. Theirs a neat lil sports bar in the middle of the place. Full bar. Service is friendly and attentive.
Good food, good service, Great prices.
I haven't had BEP in forever and it is still amazing food, huge portions, and great prices! This one is a little older although the chicken fried chicken makes up for it all day!
Always love home cooking, but this is ridiculous. Fresh rolls and cornbread on every table, and I'm pretty sure the chicken tenders are the size of frisbees. You can't go wrong at a place that has fried okra
Great service for Fathers Day! Everywhere else was packed and we are thankful we came here. I would come back again, the value for the dishes was good and the food was high quality.
We always get Ashtyn she is by far the best server in the restaurant. She is kind, courteous, and on top of her job! She is outstanding! The chicken tenderloins are my favorite. Will come back for both we love her thanks for the great food and service!
As a frequent customer of this restaurant (Colorado Blvd.). I was very let down by the service and food quality when we visited the Castle Rock, CO . Our burgers ordered medium tasted like they were last night's left over's. Service not even responsive... This is a shame, as I will no longer be a weekly customer of Black Eyed Pea!
Great dinner with several choices affordable prices
We used to have several Black-eyed Pea restaurants around Atlanta. Then one night, about twenty years ago, they all locked up and vanished. I have missed them ever since. We were so excited to find this one in Castle Rock, Colorado. They still have the things on the menu that we enjoyed all those years ago. The pot roast was delicious and the broccoli cheese soup was everything I remembered it to be. There were nine of us around the table and everyone was very satisfied. Ana was our server. She was a bit nervous. She said we were her first big table. But she was very attentive and took very good care of us. She really did a great job. A very enjoyable evening. Black-eyed Pea....please come back to Atlanta. Whatever we might have said or done to make you leave, we apologize.
Really good family dinner.
This is by far my very favorite restaurant. The food is soooooooo good! The wait staff is very friendly and helpful. Can't wait until we go back again.
We had lunch there and chose items from the Senior Menu. The food was very good and reasonably priced. The service was great too! We're going back in the near future. Hope to see you there!
Comfort food that is just okay. Service is usually good though!
Good food, quick, not too pricey.
It's exactly what you expect it to be. Imagine Denny's or the Fryin' Pan. Decent food, decent prices, decent staff.
Great service and they were very attentive. Awesome bar drinks and delicious comfort food. Could you really ask for more?
Love this place....specially the corn breads and the chicken strips
The food was good. Excellent customer service!
Great food!
Very good fall back for "home style" food. Food good, service was lacking. Order came out missing items. Took forever to cash out...
We ordered Top Sirloin Steak and Rib-Eye Steak with baked potato & onion rings . All were delicious . The waitress was lovely .
Good breakfast. Good service
Always great comfort food, especially on Friday they clam chowder is fabulous
Terrible place. Not enough staff and the food is extremely salty. My family could not even eat half of the food before leaving. Will never go back.
Good place. Good Home style Meals.
No flavor. No salt added to anything. Soup chicken n rice taste like water with yellow squash over cooked rice and 1 piece of chicken. I will never return and others warned me how bad it was.
Great breakfast place! Good place to meet friends and family!
Can't go wrong with Texas-sized Chicken Fried Steak with Jalapeno Gravy, Grilled Corn, and Fried Corn. Be sure to ask for honey when they bring the bread.
That food was awesome. Home cooked southern style. Best food in Castle Rock..
Very good customer service, good lunch menus and well priced. Good experience.
If you looking for a home cook meal. This place is great.
Good food had chicken and dumplings and fried okra both where nice and tasty comfort foods. Drink glasses are huge I had water but they will definitely float you out of there with soda if you want them too.
Great food friendly worker's.
Love the Sheppard's pie.
Food was great, service wasn’t bad but the bathrooms were nasty!
