Good service, large portions. A vig plus to this location is the size of the attached parking lot. There are lots of spaces, street parking, and a huge lot at Performance Park, all easily walkable to Bighorn. Very family friendly, easily able to accommodate larger parties by reconfiguring tables and chairs. Food is very good. Lots of variety in entrees, sandwiches, and salads. The servers are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I eat here often, and I have always experienced great service and hot, delicious food. Portions are quite large, so I never clean my plate. (That might be a strategy for a town where most of your customers are vacationing, hiking, and ravenous.) In Estes Park, finding parking is a huge problem, especially around meal times. Bighorn Restaurant is on the West end of Elkhorn, so you aren't in the slow moving traffic, orbiting a parking lot with your 15 closest friends, everybody stuck while one driver waits for one car to abandon that crucial parking space. Parking is generally plentiful and accessible! Park, relax, and enjoy a great, hot meal in a very relaxing environment!
Delicious food and excellent customer service. Prices are affordable! No complaints, we had a great experience. They have a soup and salad bar that comes with some orders. Wish we could go here more often!
Good family place. We went here for dinner while staying in Estes. The food was good, but it was so hot in there. In September! We were also seated in a small room with a lot of people when there were other places to sit in the restaurant that were more quiet. Other than that, it was good. The staff were nice.
Why are all you people so satisfied with mediocre food and service?? Why just why do people handout 4and5 stars like skittles in Colorado??? Dry burgers anc overcooked steak. Service is whatever. Oh green chili is gross.
Great place to start your day. The staff is friendly, the food is great....and off you go to enjoy this beautiful area.
This place has big sandwiches and really delicious homemade chips!!
Had a handful of gluten free options. Those options were quite tasty so no complaints in that note. Salad bar was very small but everything was fresh. Clam chowder (not GF) was a big hit with my pre-teen daughter.
Have eaten here a few times. Always fresh and the brown gravy is the best!!!!! Always polite and great customer service! Thank you!
Went with a large group and food and service was great.
Good service, interesting concept. The food was very mediocre, wspecially for the price. My steak was overcooked
Food was very good and the service top notch in a clean and friendly atmosphere.
Great food. The barbeque was wonderful! My waitress was amazing! Thought it was going to be a tourist trap but it wasn't.
Been here twice while visiting Estes Park. Love this classic mountain diner. Good ole homestyle breakfast for good prices! My friends and I talk about going back once again on our next trip. Also the staff and service was fantastic when we accidentally went on Mother's Day last time. We worried it would be too busy but the staff were very efficient!
Great atmosphere and food!
If you don't go here at least once while in Estes Park you are seriously missing out. We tried the dinner menu one night and we were extremely impressed. The portions were big, and tasted amazing! Salad bar had lots to choose from and was fresh and delicious. We had such a great dinner that we decided to go for breakfast the next day. Wow! Everything cooked to perfection! No matter the meal, you have got to stop here! You won't regret it. Oh and the staff were so friendly and courteous. Top pick of Estes!
The service and food. The wait staff was very nice
Food tasted okay, but both my husband and I got sick to our stomach. Called to inform the manager and they wouldn't take any responsibility.
Great server, he was really nice and managed our party of 10 great. The food was good enough.
Good food, big portions, nice atmosphere
I wanted to like it but the food was sub par. We had 3 people and lots of additional ala carte items, none of it was good. Loved Estes and everything else we ate while we were here.
Classic delicious eats. Friendly service. Good experience.
Food was good. Cheaper place to eat in town. Staff was great!
Chicken fried steak was really good, but this place is REALLY REALLY DIRTY
Ate there last night. Sadly it seemed like we were a bother to our server. He and the cashier kept coming from a Hall way maybe on their cell phones. It was not busy with people. Oh well!! Now you know!
Delicious food, fast & friendly service for a party of 8. Really tasty veggie burger
The prices are a little high for diner breakfast food, but 2 people could totally share a single omelette. They are huge! The service was good- kept our coffee filled up.
Big Horn serves comfort fare morning, noon and night. Respectable smoked BBQ, nice salad bar, friendly service. Easy to see why it's a local favorite.
Horrible experience. Orders the steak and eggs medium rare and it came out well done. There was also egg shell IN my eggs so I had to send it back and the waitress had an attitude like it was my fault they messed up the food. Also the waitress didn’t listen when we were ordering, she would just stand there with a blank stare before responding or writing down the orders. Not happy with this experience, I hope they correct their staff and food.
Nachos were served cold. When staff was informed, they reheated it but it was still cold. We didn't wat the nachos because of that, they only have us one free desert as compensation. The rest of the food was just okay. There are plenty of better choices, we will not return.
This is a slowly dying breed of old school, small town diner. But this particular iteration of the breed seems to be charging forward with all the momentum of the rest of Estes Park's popularity! The food is as old school dineresque as the ambiance, but good for all that. The service when we were there matches, somehow careless and friendly, easygoing and rushed, and ultimately good all at the same time! I don't even know if that's a compliment or not...it just is what it is...an institution of the old American diner style. The only real reason I reserved one star is because my wife was missing half of the bread on half of her French dip sandwich when it was served. This was a silly oversight and they corrected it, so not a big deal.
Went in on a Saturday night about 6pm, the place was nearly empty and we now know why. Food was so overpriced and the quality was mediocre at best. Husband ordered Lasagna that was mostly sauce, needed a LOT more herbs/spices and meat. For like $16ish...that's ridiculous. We were told "Oh but it comes with the unlimited soup & salad bar". That was the saddest salad bar we've ever seen. Iceberg lettuce, no meats at all, other ingredients were all low. Ranch and maybe 1 other dressing were your only choices. The soup, was unmarked and there was only 1 kind. You couldn't tell what it was by looking at it. I ordered the fish & chips. The fries needed salt but were cooked well. Fish was ok, nothing overwhelming but not bad by any means. Tartar sauce felt like it was generic brand out of a bottle. Not great. Lemon slice was fresh though. I will say the server was great. Dan kept up on our drinks (we drink soda/water FAST) and was VERY polite and friendly. Guy at the register was nice too.
You should definitely try the goat Horns! They are a bit chewy but who needs teeth!!
Good coffee. Great breakfast. Biggest omelet I ever saw. It was almost so big I couldn't eat it. Then I did
We really like going to this place. The homestyle food is very good and the portions are large. It is kid friendly- our kids love it here. The breakfasts are great! And the service has always been good.
Wonderful breakfast location. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The chicken fried steak was fabulous, and the Breakfast Croissant w/ Grits was phenomenal. The portions well fantastic, and all for a reasonable price. Definitely will be back!
My then fiance went in last week to order sandwiches from their deli early in the morning. We were eloping in RMNP that day and wouldn't be able to leave the park for lunch. Immediately upon entering and letting the woman know what he was looking for she interrupted him said "I don't make sandwiches, go to Safeway if you want that!" and that was it, no further help or willingness to answer questions. For a business that says they'll make your sandwiches while you eat breakfast, I would've thought they could make sandwiches in the morning. If not, it could've been handled much better. It was so early, abrupt and rude that my husband called me and didn't know how to explain what just happened. So thanks for making us panic to feed four people the morning of our wedding, truly appreciated. Thankfully that was the only small hiccup in an otherwise perfect day, but they've lost any future business from us.
It's got that old-fashioned feel! Very quaint and cute!
This is the best deal you're going to find in Estes Park. Service is great! Food portions are large & quality is great. Price is as good as it gets. It was inexpensive for a tourist town, really it was inexpensive for any town!
Just order the breakfast burrito, add the chorizo, and enjoy. You won't need to eat anything for awhile
Great spot for breakfast. Their portions are huge and could feed two, but still great food.
Food: 4.5⭐ Service: 4.5⭐ Atmosphere: 4⭐ Food - Ordered the elk burger with american cheese, bacon, and jalapenos. Meat was cooked just as asked and they did a very good job with not making it tough. All in all fresh and delicious
great food, large portions, good service and prices
Food was good, but service was lacking. Restaurant wasn't busy with only 2 customers, took 20 minutes to finally get my breakfast. Employees need some serious customer service training.
I have ate there many times and it has always been good.
Good food, no wait.
Really good food and service
Ordered the Smoke Stack, it had great flavor, but the pork was a little dry. Good service.
We’ve eaten here a few times. It’s a place popular with locals which says a lot given the other options close-by downtown. Can’t go wrong with the Rainbow Trout. Their salad bar is pretty limited but everything was very fresh. Yet to try anything off of the smoker/grill out front but that’s always a consideration
Went there for brunch and it was delicious. The portions were very big and I loved it.
We received excellent service and the food was teriffic!!
Food was mediocre. Staff didn't seem to care about customers. Staff put pork on something ordered with no pork, and suggested "eating around" the pork. Threw away our leftovers while we were paying and buying a hat. No apologies for anything. No attempt to make things right. Plenty of other restaurants in town. Skip this one.
Large portions if their omelettes. Service fast and friendly. Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. Check them out. Large menu options.
Enjoy breakfast very much oatmeal, toast
Cozy chill spot to have some breakfast. Would definitely recommend.
Great service, MASSIVE portions and very tasty! The blueberry pancake stack was great for sharing, as was the omelette (like 12 eggs!).
We love their food!
Great food, good service, impressed this Northern Wisconsin guy for sure.
We all had excellent meals and very nice waitress.
Husband had the elk burger and I had the rainbow trout, both were very good!
Service was surprisingly fast considering it was busy, and food was AMAZING! And oh did I mention how great the service was? Lance was our server and he was on his top game. He took care of multiple tables and was always available if we needed something. I'd give this restaurant more stars if I could and would highly recommend to anyone in doubt!
Great local restaurant. Nice menu variety. Smothered chicken burrito and spaghetti with meatballs are favorites in my family. We go here weekly. Recommended!
Good food. Great server.
It was cute little dinner with great food and fast service. The apple raisin French toast was delicious. Also the corn beef hash was great.
I had previously eaten there in another visit to Rocky Mountain NP. The portions are large, and the food is tasty. I brought home half of my Philly cheese steak sandwich. Just couldn't finish it all.
This was our second time here. We've tried the Pulled Pork Sandwich (amazing), Mexican sampler dish (great), Philly chicken sandwich (great), and the spaghetti and meatballs (not so good). My advice would be to not eat Italian here. Everything else we've tried, we've been impressed with. Large portions. You won't leave hungry. Fast, friendly service.
Quaint rustic dining experience. The menu options -- including chicken, bison, elk, etc -- are prepared well, with generous portions. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Prices are unexpectedly reasonable. Our party of seven received our food quickly. Try this place -- it's off the beaten track and well worth it!
Had breakfast, the eggs were pretty greasy. But they were friendly & pretty busy.
Nice and quit little restaurant with small salad bar
Pulled pork sandwich was very good. The cole slaw was flat. Friendly waiter. My daughter loved the pulled chicken sandwich. Sandwich, fries, cole slaw and pickle: $10.
What a wonderful local place for breakfast. Service was very friendly, fast and the food was just as we wanted it. If I lived here I would be a regular. The prices were very affordable.
service was good but food was mehh. i wouldnt recommend the ribs other stuff was ok .
AMAZING food! Great service! Big portions! Great prices! If you want home cooked comfort food this is the place to go. Lance provided great service. I will definitely be coming back next time I am in Estes Park.
Solid 4+. Good service. Good food. Basic salad but good. Our go to restaurant in Estes Park.
The restaurant is quaint and homey, the prices are decent and the portions are Huge! The food tastes great and the wait staff was quick and friendly. I certainly recommend it for anyone with a healthy appetite!
Quaint little restaurant with a real home town family atmosphere - excellent home cooked food, nice salad bar & very reasonable prices
Really cool tour, step back in time, video at the end is worth watching, good time there.
Love this mom and pop joint...always good food and atmosphere!
Very good food and service
Really liked the breakfast here! Pretty typical eggs, pancakes, breakfast meat kinda place. I had a breakfast burrito which was good. If you are hungry, this is the place to go, the portions are generous. The staff was super friendly as well. Definitely recommend it!
We really enjoyed our bison burgers! And the soup and salad bar were tasty. The staff was friendly, though I had to chase down some silverware. Perfect little stop for an affordable, cafe style lunch while visiting the park.
Salad bar was nice. Main dish so so. Wait staff 5 stars. The Gentleman who tried to put us in a separate part of the restaurant because we had a service dog needs to get a clue. That was Exstremly rude.
Great breakfast.. you won't leave hungry. Really really good service. Coffee cups refilled often
Food was great and very good value. Service was great will be back soon.
Place was very small inside. Menu selection was ok but portion to price were off. I expected larger portion for the price. The food quality was fair at best. The homemade chips were chewy and the french fries were borderline soggy.
The food was great and wait staff was very attentive.
Had a beef burger and it was excellent. Service was great too.
The only downer (a tragedy really) of my recent trip to Estes Park was that we found this place on the last day. And this is heartbreaking because it was so incredibly good I know that if we return to Estes that will be my breakfast spot every morning. I had the Country Fried Steak with Biscuit for breakfast that morning and have dreamed about it since. If you come to Estes don't wait until your last day i'd say stop here first to see if going anywhere else even makes sense.
The service was good. The food was fine. My daughter really liked her toasted croissant and the creamy sausage soup was good. This place is just outside of downtown and not crowded. Pretty average place and the cost was average too.
Very good food and the service was great too!
Used to love this place. Had a great breakfast menu and some good burgers. We ate here twice on our stay and it really was not that great. Hashbrowns were undercooked And the sandwich was bland.
Delicious, affordable and great service! Best eggs Benedict, grits and made to order omelette!
Always very nice. More than you can eat. Fair prices
I highly recommend the Big Horn Restaurant. The food is great and you get a lot of it and the prices are very reasonable. The staff is so friendly and the photos on the walls are great. Go and have a great meal for a great price
Average food, good family atmosphere, good service.
Decent little diner. Typical Estes Park restaurant they don't put too much money into the ambience or facilities. Seats were torn and duct taped. Food was decent.
Great breakfast menu & delicious BBQ meats smoked on site. A local’s favorite.
Best Breakfast you will have in a long time, be careful though, if you sit in the back, sometimes they cannot see you. Try to sit more toward the front.
Good food decent service. Family friendly. Not the best place in Estes but not bad at all. Basic homestyle food. Salad bar was better than OK
Real good dinner. Trout n mash taters
Best French Toast I've had in ages! My breakfast kept me full all day!
Was enjoyed by all while we refueled our bodies. Had so much more to see at Estes Park, CO.
Excellent service My hubby's high school reunion brough a large group of people to Big Horn. The waiter was friendly and excellent in providing timely service.
Great family restaurant. Food is consistently good and comparable prices. The staff are friendly and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere.
Awesome service and the food is great.
Food was great and the people were so nice...
Our go-to spot after hikes at RMNP. Love the chicken fried steak! You know what to expect here, good homey food. My only complaint is that it's usually FREEZING inside.
It was ok, service wasn’t all that great. Food was alright, not horrible but not good. I wouldn’t recommend.
We came to eat here due to reviews. We had a late lunch and it was not busy but steady. My husband ordered an elk burger with American cheese and fries & I ordered the club sandwich with homemade chips. Sandwich was the best part of both meals. You can't really mess that up, can you? However, no cheese on the burger and I got fries instead of the homemade chips that I ordered, of course our waitress quickly remedy the situation. We won't return. We were counting on a family owned restaurant and feel. We had a painfully shy waitress, of course we did not hold against her. Mainly it was the food and just in general the atmosphere. We tipped her 20%. As we paid, you can see to the kitchen area an the cooks were laughing it up and drinking. I know that it is a health code violation, however I'm human, it gets hot, water and soda don't bother me, alcohol does bother me. JS. If your gonna do that maybe you need to do it where the customers can't see or hear you. Or maybe you should get the food right and delicious then we wouldn't care.
Very much a diner vibe. Clean. The food is solid. Excellent even. Our waiter was prompt and super nice. Come for a great bison burger and order the onion rings. Great food at a good price. Minus one star for not letting us sit outside at 5:00 pm on a Saturday. We were told it had rained earlier in the day and the seats were wet. It was 75 degrees and sunny. Wipe the damn table and chairs off and let me sit outside.
Was here for a reception. Service was great. Food was also good. Good place to stop in and fill up!
Burger was pretty good and you cant beat the view of outside and pretty cheep.
Great food and service. You will be full when you leave.
Severely disappointing. The wait staff was quick to seat us and take our order. However, when we were served, the plates were dropped on the table rather than placed and even had a little bounce before they settled. The salad bar was meager and clam chowder would not be my first choice of soups in the Rockies. Let's move on to the less than appetizing meals. I had the chicken fried steak (right out of a box) swimming in white gravy with cardboard french fries. My wife opted for meatloaf with mashed potatoes and corn. The corn was flavorless and, according to her, there was not enough salt and pepper on the table to make the meatloaf and potatoes palatable. She left more than half of the meal on the plate, saying it was pathetic. The best I can say about mine was that it was warm and edible (which is not saying much).
I had a pull pork sandwich and my sister chicken pulled pork sandwich. Cold slaw came with the sandwich and we both chose their homemade potatoe chips.
Absolutely the worst dinning experience of our trip. Half of the food came out to the table cold, our 7 year old is okay with a not hot burger, but cold lasagna is a no go. They brought a new one out for me and it was still cold in the center. No apologies, no alternatives. Complete unacceptable.
The food was ok the staff was great
Had friendly staff and great food.
Food was tasty, service was solid
They serve a lot of food; however, not necessarily good food. My ribs were dry and no flavor.
The Big Horn is a great restaurant serving up fresh and delicious feel-good food. The Chicken Philly was almost more than we could manage but the plate was empty when we left. The in-house smoked meats are equally good; today's special featured smoked brisket in a grilled cheese sandwich. Although simple, it was incredibly delicious.
Great food and service with a greasy price. A nice local restaurant.
Good food, good prices and helpful staff. Had trout and omelette. Hashbrowns were not tasty though
Great portions, good food and great service!
Good food Fair price Wishing for better service & still wonder why us 4 got sat by heat from computer & no windows Before rush with only 4 other customers :( & we asked for extra napkins got 1 for the 4 of us. We thought they had mtn views but must be hidden. Good fried steak & potatoes, not really satisfied with 3 ribeyes tho
Went for Thursday night dine around. Both dishes, Chicken sandwich and meatballs on potatoes were delicious. Great service too!
Very affordable, I had breakfast with eggs, hashbrowns and biscuits and gravy. The half serving is plenty, trust me! My husband had the elk burger and said he liked it.
To say that this food is so bland as to inspire an existential crisis is not an exaggeration. I was smearing my $15 fried chicken in blackberry jam just to feel something again. Good service tho.
The food is good and service is great. We have eaten breakfast lunch and dinner here many many times. Price is good, portions are great!
Great little place to eat! Good food and good prices!
Nice place good food
Dog friendly, elk burgers are super yummy. Bathrooms are a bit tight but clean.
Good food. Good service. Reasonable. Clean. Busy, but the staff is fairly efficient.
Great morning breakfast!! Huge portions of food , and a friendly on the go waiter!!!
Service was fine and food was okay but not great portions. Wouldn't go back or recommend.
Good food, real home like atmosphere, friendly staff.
Waitress wasn't very helpful (her English wasn't great, Russian(?) and was hard to understand) and the food was nothing special. Very forgettable.
Excellent service , excellent food , we had pulled pork , chicken fried steak , and sirloin steak , it was all excellent , will return the next time I'm in estes
Loved the food! I had the Eggs Benedict. 10/10 would recommend.
Good food, friendly staff, huge portions... something for everyone, will definitely go back.
Friendly staff and a comfortable atmosphere! I had an amazing brisket grilled cheese!
Wonderfully cozy atmosphere. The salad bar was a little limited, but the soup was hot and fantastic. Loved the mountain trout. Would definitely eat here again.
Wonderful staff, huge portions of great food at good prices.
Everything was incredibly bland. I got the egg sandwhich with hashbrowns and had to cover both items with salt and pepper to even slightly enjoy it. Normally i dont leave reviews but this was so bad that i had to run home and use the toilet. FOODIES BEWARE
Not bad for the price. Not many lower priced restaurants in the area. The brisket sandwich was pretty good.
Super cozy mountain restaurant. Had my first elk burger there - delicious, wasnt the last one :)
My husband, 3 children and I ate breakfast here on our last morning in town. HUGE portions and the food was great! Our kids split a stack of pancakes and loved them. My husband had the eggs Benedict and I had an omelet. Service was great as well.
Best breakfast in Estes Park. The menu is full of great favorites, and your coffee cup is never empty. I make it a point to stop in most times I'm in town, and it never ceases to amaze how great the staff and food can be.
