This place is a favorite and there is more than one location; this was my second. Service is on top of your requests and the food is amazing, especially the tri tip anything . There is also a great selection on beer and wine. On this occasion, they had ran out of a special beer and a couple of main food items which prompted the 4 Stars instead of 5. I will be back though to this or any other of their locations.

One of my favorite places back in LA but so glad they are down in San Diego now. Great service and the rolls are AMAZING. I always order the famous tri tip sandwich, the mac and cheese is heavenly and soo cheesy. Can't go wrong with either of those. Perfect for a date night or family gathering!

BOMB!!! I loved everything about it! The brisket was tender and flavorful. I am in love with that blue cheese coleslaw and I detect a touch of horseradish in the dressing, which makes it even better. The pickled cucumbers are nice and tasty. Quick and friendly service and the prices are very reasonable. I have definitely found my new bbq spot!

Great baby back ribs! The best I've had since Tony Roma disappeared. Good service. I would have preferred if I was asked before seated in the bar, especially since it was on a path that has someone walking past the table every couple minutes. I'd rather have waiter for a better seat. I wasn't asked.

Oh husband had a full rack of ribs and asked for them dry so he tried all the diff BBQ sauces they have and I had pulled pork.

Our server was wonderful, the drink list is long and the food was delicious. I did think the bill was a little high though so if you go prepare for a high bill. I had the tri-tip no sauce and my husband has the Beef ribs. He was a little disappointed by how little meat there was and they immediately stepped in with an additional rib that was much better in quality.

The food and atmosphere was amazing. Very clean and calm, there was 2 birthday celebrations going on and wasn't loud at all. Aaron was our waiter and he was extremely friendly and helpful. He was on his A game the whole time. He gave excellent service and recommendations for the menu and other places in town to try. The food portions were enormous and well priced. We have been searching for a bbq go to spot and we definitely found it here! We will be coming back again and again!

Working in this and was looking for good bbq place to eat. Lets just say this was not it for me . Atmosphere was good but the food so so. I had the Bbq combo Bbq chicken, sausage link , mac n cheese and corn . Chicken was dry mac was slightly warm and under cooked and corn could of used some butter and seasoning. Well i can say i tried and me no likey so wont be back ill just keep on looking .

Woodranch can be counted on to serve great food in a comfortable environment. The food is consistently good across the chain and this location was no exception. Service was excellent even though it was a fairly busy night. The bar is good sized with plenty of tables and a full menu. TVs are placed well and visible from most of the room. It’s in a great location if you’re staying at the Doubletree, which is about 50’ away.

Really good BBQ. Nice menu variety but the BBQ choices you want to see. Food was delicious. Brisket, beef ribs, babyback ribs were all great! Clean, woodsy atmosphere. Big bar area. Staff (Alfonso) was very nice and a great server. Brought a cheesecake for my husband's birthday. They took it and kept it refrigerated and brought it out with candles! Over all we had a great dinner. Husband approved!

Visiting San Diego from Nixa Missouri, our son came down from Ridgecrest and took us all out for dinner. He would not go anywhere else wanted to go to the Wood Ranch BBQ. The young lady that waited on us was such a joy I believe her name was .... I'm old so I can't remember oh, but she's blonde and we went out last Thursday around 6:30 and we sat in her station. I want to say Sarah or Heather. But anyways, Not only was the food awesome but the server was a total gem. She would remember us as we left her a pretty good tip. Went there for lunch on a Sunday. The waitress was attentive, quick, friendly, and professional. The manager, not so much. I told him the macaroni was undercooked and he got this snarky attitude and replied "we make our macaroni and cheese differently...it's al dente". He should learn what "al dente" means before using the term. It DOES NOT mean hard, gritty, starchy in the pasta core. I've been to Italy, it's their word, and they certainly don't make it the way our macaroni was served that day. The waitress, however, save the day. Chipper as always, she offered an alternative. We didn't take it, but appreciated her courtesy. The rest of the food was outstanding. The Farm House salad was yummy! Loved the dressing. The meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The sauce was outstanding! Nice atmosphere too.

Nice place, modern decor, great patio seating with views. Very nice happy hour offerings. The Q is average and the servings of Q are smallish. The brisket was dry but tender, the tri-tip didn't have that Santa Maria vibe. The pulled pork was excellent with a great smoke. The beef bones were small but tasty and well prepared. The skillet baked bean's are sweet and miss the smoke. The peanut slaw was awesome. All in all a good if not exemplary lunch with friends.

Had a really good veg burger. Didn't expect a veg burger at a bbq rest but I was impressed. Food portion was great (huge burgers) hence no fast-food price tag. Guacamole was okay and I wouldn't order that again, but we are definitely going back sometime soon for their veg burger. My friends were also happy with their house (wood ranch) burger.

Great bbq! My wife and I come here for causal dinner dates. We can have an adult meal and not feel we have to pay through the nose and get totaly dresses up. Though we seen families here all the time. Usally it's so busy we sit in the bar so make a reservation or come early. But we always had good service in the bar as we had at a table. We are fans of the brisket and tri tip. The tri tip salad is also really good if you want something a little less meat and more greens. Also the garlic rolls are wonderful. My wife is a huge fan of their beans. She usally can't eat it all and says the beans reheat really well the next day. Also you can watch the cooks cut up all the ribs and meat from a "fish tank" like window if you are in to that kind of thing.

If you like West Coast barbeque then you need to have dinner at Wood Ranch BBQ. Used to regularly eat at the original Woof Ranch BBQ in Moorpark. Was pleasantly surprised while visiting San Diego to find they expanded to a small number of other California markets. This is a great place to go for ribs, pulled pork, BBQ chicken, tri-tip and brisket. Wood Ranch is all about the meat. Not a good place to bring your vegan or vegetarian friends to. Deserts are also amazing.

A lot of the restaurants in mission valley are mediocre, and this place really stands out. Not only is the BBQ great as expected, but everything on the menu has been good. Even the salad and fish options are surprisingly good.

I had the 7oz brisket, which was on point, the dinner rolls were also very good, however the 2 sides I chose, the baked beans and the mashed potatoes were lackluster. The beans were soupy, but hat a good flavor, and the mashed potatoes were dry and a bit salty. The food came out exceptionally fast and was luke warm (probably pre-plated for speed or a kitchen mistake on a previous order). The service was good and they had a very nice selection of beer and drinks at the bar. Ambiance was also nice but the dinning room layout was a little strange.

Food to die for. Their brisket plate is absolutely succulent. Another time I had their Buckeye burger. Holy cow, blew me away. Especially good is their peanut coleslaw. I normally hate coleslaw, but theirs was just absolutely fantastic. The service has always been good here and they are pretty quick as well. Went with big group that included sever kids, they handled it quite well. I was impressed. We were a tough group to keep satisfied, but they performed their jobs much to our satisfaction. Didn't even need the food, which was astounding, to help forget any problems, because their were no problems!

Super Tri tip beef, I get around the USA and eat BBQ in most places I visit and I will return here for sure. All the food is served in portions that will stump even the seasoned eater, and it's so delicious. The staff makes you feel like family from the moment you enter their establishment. Again let me say Beef Tri-Tip is about the best you will encounter anywhere, also plenty of BBQ sauce so you can get as messy as you please, just ask for some extra napkins and a few wet wipes too. Enjoy yourself, you'll want to go back here again .

I am only giving this place two stars because the chefs deserve five stars. The food was amazing! The rest of the staff deserves just one. I ordered water that I never received and ended up ordering a soda when I ordered my food. They do not know how to be organized with a bigger group(there were 15 of us). It took an hour for them to attempt to figure out how to do our check and still messed them up. They only comped the people who had bought alcohol and not everyone. I will never go back.

I really enjoy the ribs, steak, and salmon. The burger is a no-go, very bland. I also don't enjoy the sauce they use on the pulled pork. They have a good beer and whisky selection, and great garlic rolls. The atmosphere is so much better than standard BBQ places.

Wood Ranch used to be one of my favorite barbecue places in San Diego. The last 3 times I ordered beef ribs they were much smaller then in the past with more bone than meat. I commented to the server and wondered if it was the luck of the draw. After 3 meals being short changed, my conclusion is Wood Ranch is just cutting costs. I won't be going back soon!
