Very trendy, conveniently located in a beautiful Santa Monica area, with lots of outside dining space. The burger creations and ingredients are innovative, tasty and fresh - as is their beer selection. That being said, it is very pricey. Not only for that area, but in general - you can get better, quicker and cheaper burgers at many other places around here. They may not look as fancy, but they will satisfy the craving for a good, tasty burger just as much. If you have the money to spend, the time to wait and the craving for something more sophisticated, Umami Burger may be right for you.

Pretty tasty. Got the Impossible vegan BBQ burger with a side of spicy edamame. Was pretty wary of the Impossible based on the backlash it's gotten, but it wasn't terribly different from a Boca burger, just thicker. The edamame, covered in garlic and chili sauce, was perfect and as always, fun to eat!

This is my favorite burger in the WORLD!! Maybe I’m a bit dramatic, but I still haven’t found a better burger than the sunny side! It has all the perfect flavors and texture you could ever want in a burger. I have been here a few times and always come here when I’m back in town. Highly recommend this place! The environment is amazing and the servers are always great.

I enjoyed the fun atmosphere and the servers were friendly. We really liked the buffalo wings, maple bacon sweet fries, onion rings, and tempura fried cookie and ice cream. The guys loved the umami burger, truffle burger, and I liked the Bon Jovi Hampton burger. The burgers were good to me but I didn't rave about them. I would order a different one next time. But overall a great experience.

My favorite burger in west la. They also have good beer options. Has vegan burgers that are surprisingly good as well. Definitely go for the truffle burger or manly burger. Get an order of truffle fries and ask for a sample of their sauces with it. They have a parking garage right under them now which makes it even more awesome.

A Los Angeles Classic!! One of the best burgers in LA and one of the first places to elevate burgers!! Definitely a must try place, they’ve expanded to chains all over LA so it’s pretty easy to find one in your neighborhood. The burgers are incredibly juicy and tender, as are the buns!! Lots of great beers on tap too! Top level all around!!

Umami. Umami. Umami. That’s what you get. Don’t expect to have a light meal here as most burgers are covered with bacon lardons and melting cheddar ( if that’s what you like) also clean options like the impossible burger. Fries are all delicious but the cheesy tots take the cake. Their fried chicken sandwich is noteworthy too.

The beach was very well maintaned the life guards pay attention and the water was clean didn't notice any litter . My two teen children and i had an awesome time here . It's possible that you're supposed to only order their original burger here, so I had an OK experience because I ordered everything but that. They put a happy hour menu in front of me, I couldn't resist. I ordered the grilled mini fish tacos, tempura asparagus, crispy brussels sprouts, and slider trio. Thankfully I shared all of this with my table but none of it stood out. Everything was just okay.

We discovered Umami Burger in Vegas so when I saw there was one down the street from my hotel I decided I'd to the 'easy' thing and pop in here for lunch. My waiter was polite and prompt. I'm sure he'd be helpful if I needed him to be but I knew what I wanted so there was limited conversation (I know that the person at my last Umami Burger WAS helpful so assume he would be as well). I was thrilled to see they offer the Impossible Burger now. I didn't choose that option this time, probably because it didn't register with me to order my burger that way, but I did notice the sign. I ordered the Sunnyside Burger - I simply LOVE a burger with an egg on the top. Yes it's goopy and messy, but that's a big part of the yumminess! :) They offer a terrific selection of beers, including many local/craft options (that's all I remember seeing on the menu, honestly, but I'm sure that's because that's all I'm ever interested in). The location is small and sort of adorable. It is clean and everyone is friendly. If you haven't been I highly suggest you go!

Despite the closings of their Studio City and Burbank locations, you can still get your Umami fix in and around Los Angeles. Leading the charge is their Santa Monica location which I have to say is perhaps my favorite location out of the ones I have frequented in the past. Great location with parking to boot, Santa Monica Umami is a short drive from the beach in a quaint neighborhood. The quality and presentation has never disappointed and you can have your burger your way — the way you want it. I also have to say that Santa Monica Umami was the first place to introduce me to the Impossible Burger which they executed well. Keep the good times and good food rolling Umami!

I was here a couple of hours ago. The dinning room was way too dirty. I told the manager, she brushed it off and mumbled we just got here. There was no one at the counter ordering and one car in drive through. She could have assigned two people one to clean all the food off the floor and someone to wipe up. It was a messy.

I had high expectations for this, but was very disappointed. I ordered the Cali burger and was told by the server it would be medium with a little pink. My date had the Manly burger and ordered his Medium with little pink as well. Our burgers were both very well done, no pink at all. My dates burger also had clearly not rested as it was a sloppy mess to eat from the first bite and the patties crumbled. To top it off I ended up being sick to my stomach about an hour after eating here. I’m giving 2 stars instead of one because the restaurant was clean and nice and our food did come out pretty quick. But the quality of food was not much better than Wendy’s. Definitely not worth the price.

Burgers are awesome as usual. But, I was really disappointed by the service there. I ordered 2 burgers to-go, and waited for almost 20-30 min to learn that the service girl didn't even consider to search once the order was ready. Mistakes happen but the lack of even acknowledging the mistakes is poor service.

So, so, so much promise, which is why the end product feels just so-so. The menu is truly creative, and the ambiance feels perfectly balanced between global and local inspirations. But when the food arrives it's Cheesecake Factory level quality and presentation. Add to that the unfortunate coincidence (benefit of the doubt?) of bad service - they were out of several standard drinks from the menu; drinks were not refilled until after the meal was almost done; finished plates were never cleared - and there's nothing about this place I'd recommend, except that it is conveniently located for local hotels.

This was probably the best burger I have ever had. I got the manly lunch special which was $15. The sweet potato fries are amazing. They are perfectly cooked and they are some brown sugar to them... sooo good!!. Can’t wait to have it again in SF. I highly recommend this place. 2 lunch specials was like $33.xx after tax.

Excellent, interesting burgers. I went with my wife and our seven-year-old. My wife got the sunny side burger, I got the umami burger, and our son got the kid's sliders. My wife was blown away by her burger, and our son demolished the sliders. My burger was very high-quality meat, but overly sweet (maybe the cook put too much ketchup on it). Service was fine, although it took a while for them to acknowledge us when we went in looking for a table. Overall, definitely worth a visit.

You guys were amongst the very 1st to have the Impossible Burger (almost 2 years ago now I had my 1st at Unami Santa Monica 10/2017!), ... and now that I have had quite some time to sample them at many locations across the country, your offering is definitely amongst the very best!
