REVIEWS OF Trail Dust BBQ IN California

Joy

Great BBQ! My husband's from Texas and he was impressed! It took a bit for things to come out, but that's because it actually involved cooking the food, so in my books that was a positive. My husband and I shared the brisket and the baked potato and then tried the berry cobbler for dessert. Phenomenal. Restaurant had cute decor as well.

Paul Pace

Went here when it was established and had odd hours. The menu has changed only slightly since then and the food and service has always been and remains fantastic. I introduced a friend who now makes a point to stop and eat here when driving past Morgan Hill. Helps there there is a parking garage with EV charging immediately behind it.

Christopher Hernandez

I ordered the pulled pork plate large ($19) and my GF ordered the 2 meat plate ($28), 3 sodas ($3), and a half order of garlic bread ($5). I think it was good overall with really good service, my soda never went empty. But when I got the bill at 75.00 I didn't feel like I got a great or even good value with the portions. Not sure I'd go back because I can find a better value in San Jose.

Luis Alves

Best smoked ribs and sandwiches with smaked meat, in South Bay.

brian henriksen

Delicious BBQ and good service. I would recommend to others visiting or in the area. The first time I have ever had brisket outside of Texas and the Ribs definitely hit the spot.

Abel Bedolla

Food and service was excellent! Will go back again!

Steve Buchholz

My favorite BBQ spot in the South Bay! Delicious smoked meats, tried the brisket yesterday ... First rate! Excellent sauces. Great service, friendly staff! Excellent selection of brews

Gerald Cary

2nd time here . Wife really enjoyed the first time . She wanted to eat here for our anniversary . However she walked as the lack of service . We were never even seated . They did seem to be under staffed . The food is good but a bit over priced .

Anand Kannan

Delicious pulled pork sandwich!

Peggy Nikas Maloney

Great food and beers. A Morgan Hill staple!

Don McClure

Like it always is a very wonderful dinner

ardalan asefpour

Food is really good and unique. Price is fair and downtown Morgan Hill is a nice seen. Friendly staff with a nice smile.

Azor Phelps

I ordered the tri tip salad. It was fantastic. It had fresh fruit included in the salad. It was very delicious. I would order double meat next time because it was so good.

David Chen

Great BBQ. Ribs were cooked perfectly. Good attentive, service. Sides are a bit small. Pricing is typical for BBQ place. Western casual atmosphere. Huge selection of beer. Will revisit.

Kimberly Reinke

The pulled pork was reslly fatty and would never have served it this way to someone. This place is overpriced and everytime we go the tri tip and baked potatoes are out. One time they served an end of tri tip it was so horrible couldnt even eat it once i got home.

Kenneth Cordoba

Not bad, good flavor, close enough to the real deal.

Kris Howland

Rib eye was ok mushrooms are very sweet. Wouldn't get again

Steve Banister

The food is fabulous. This is not fast food. You'll have to wait a while. You can't rush BBQ. Just relax and have another adult beverage. It's worth the wait!

Bill Cain

Best BBQ, Wonderful staff

Brian Love

Fast and polite service mixed with tasty food is a win in my book. I ate here with my (Texan) colleague while in town for the day and he endorsed the food as meeting his Texas standard for BBQ.

Lynn Byrd

Nice place for barbeque and good service. Very homey and comfortable. Loved the Squealin Butt Sandwich.

Ashley Johnson

Good beer list.

Lenett Washington

Damn good I just wanna wanna good

Connie Hamilton

Hair on the corn bread, chicken under cooked, and the candy with the bill had a bite out it and then rewrapped.

Chris Panton

I came here based on reviews and was not impressed. I'm from the south and this BBQ definitely is not 4+ stars. Bland bbq flavor. The baked beans were more or less chilli. You pay a lot for not much. Beans, potatoe salad or coleslaw otherwise you pay extra for salad or potato. Meats are "smoked" but there is no smokeyness flavor. I honestly would skip this place.

Kyle Reid

Best BBQ in the Bay area. This place is my favorite. Get the tri-tip sandwich on garlic bread with a side of potato salad, you will not be disappointed!

Ryan Freeman

Excellent service & fantastic staff. The menu is rather short but won’t disappoint. Will be back soon.

Bill Barret

Don't know what happened but the name is the same but the food changed, new owners ( corporate owners) different meat, cook & prices. You can try it but I'm done. Morgan Hill stop changing things!

Rick Nieto

Good food. Great service.

mike monette

When yiu get there most likly you will need to use the parking garage its free just before the bbq place on the side street. Food is good and quick garlic bread is also good. I would be nice if the had a salad. Not beans and cold slaw . place was clean and friendly staff. Prices were fair .

Ryan F

Best ribs place I've found in the Bay Area.

Himanshu Joshi

The service was great!

Laura Moreci

The bbq ribs & chicken are always good! The service is good as well. The atmosphere is rustic and casual. Today I ordered the Chicken Salad and my husband ordered the Tri Tip Streak Sandwich. The salad was very good and the sandwich as well! My husband is extremely picky about his meat, so a compliment from him is rare!

Thinh Mai

I am orginally from Houston Texas. We love our BBQ. Thank God Trail Dust is just as good as some of the best BBQ in Texas!

Neel Karkhanis

Great brisket and brew!

C Manning

Traveling through Northern California, came here for dinner. Best ribs I’ve ever had! Yum should have ordered a larger portion! Delicious!!!

Carlos Cardoza

Good BBQ...well worth stopping by!

D K

I enjoyed the Ribeye Steak, good service, a nice little place.

Ryan Chamberlain

The waitress, Madison, saved the day. The food was great but we weren't going to stay after we saw what they were out of. We were pleasantly greeted at the door and convinced to try what was still available. Definitely would recommend this place based on customer service and quality food.

Manfred Geier

Good food, decent service, excellent craft beer selection. Deserves 4+ stars but for the lack of shades on the windows and the blinding late afternoon sun and the weak AC.

Robert Grant

Delicious pulled pork! The brisket was decent but I've had better not too far away. Certainly worth checking out.

Efrain Quevedo

Excellent BBQ from a Chicago guy on a Business Trip

Don Rossow

Trail dust has always been the best BBQ around. Beef rib dinners on Wednesday. Brisket and or tri tip sandwiches on the weekends. (Not sure on other days). Pork ribs and all there sides, just off the hook delicious. Plus there many craft beers and wine, they have something everyone. There bread pudding or fruit cobbler are to die for too.

Carol Hood

We always enjoy meals here. Large selection of craft beers. Really good barbeque.

uHector perez

Best service and bbq around!!

Colin Woodward

Astounding atmosphere, nice staff, good BBQ. A little noisy later in the afternoon.

Hiroshi Yahagi

Very nice and very good taste !

zane emery

Overpriced by far for subpar bbq

A Fernandez

Totally worth the drive. Best BBQ ive had. Nice setting great service and delicious good

Marian Gaddis

Simply amazing food and service

Juanita Saling

Great bbq! Great craft beer!

Nick George

Drove down from San Jose trying to find a new BBQ place and it did not disappoint. Fantastic food and service.

Robyn Klopp

Charming hole-in-the-wall barbecue place with a diverse and interesting beer selection. Had the rib platter with beans (great!) and cole-slaw (underwhelming). Ribs were sweet, with just the right amount of tenderness. Don't skip dessert, because you'll miss out on cobbler if you do!

robert procopio

Service was excellent they we're outout of beans and they gave me the ends of the ribs while good a little tough great barbecue sauce

Matt Newell

Ribs were on point! Great beer selection

Steve McCaa

Best BBQ I’ve had since leaving the Midwest. The spicy BBQ sauce is excellent. Huge selection of Beers with lots of craft brews on tap. Joint is popular with the locals so it can be a bit busy. Highly recommended.

Ben Brandt

Great, simple bbq. Good atmosphere with some outside seating. Ample parking in rear.

Alicia Woodrow

Decent BBQ for the Bay Area. You don't need to slather with BBQ sauce to make it taste good. This means it it better than 90% of the BBQ out there. It is a little too "fall off the bone", and not enough dry and chewy for me. Good BBQ should be more dry, chewy, and fatty. However I thoroughly enjoy this. Skip their beans, and just order 2 sides of coleslaw, which is decent. They don't have any interesting appetizers like liver/prunes/bacon or stuff like that. Portions are ample. Anyway, this place is worth the drive from San Jose/Campbell, so don't get me wrong. I'm just a little picky. The food is not served right away. There is always a wait.

Alex Lee

Ask for garlic bread if you're getting a sandwich.

Katt

If you love smokrd BBQ, this is your spot. Pulled pork, sirloin, chicken smoked just right. Cole slaw, potato salad, lettuce salads, Texas toast! Wahoo! The atmosphere is friendly and the food is down home relaxed. No reservations, but no one seems to mind a little wait.

Benjie Troncoso

Great place to have steaks. A bit pricey but worth it

Raul Martinez

whenever I do a 4~hr hike at Mt.Madonna, this spot is my reward as well as a few of the wineries. Tri tip is bomb.

John McReynolds

Great sandwich. Pleasant atmosphere. Quick service. Very down to earth no frills atmosphere great for everyday lunch outting. Won't recommend for large groups. But great place.

Terri Demarest

The food was great but the wait was long. Music was in okay

doris fredericks

Best ribs in South Bay.

Richard Reid

Came in on a week day afternoon. Service was quick and friendly. The BBQ was absolutely delicious. Tender, melt in your mouth BBQ that was slow smoked.

RatedMforMitchy

This might just be my favorite Bar-B-Que spot. Lately the beer choices have been a bit hit and miss but in the past it’s had some great breweries on tap. The beer list changes regularly so I’m not worried. The bbq is so tender and full of flavor. Cannot recommend enough if you are looking for excellent smoked meat and cold beer to satisfy your craving.

Candy Maldonado

Great food great service

Tony Rocks

Very good food. My chicken sandwich was huge and yummy. Small car park so we had to park a short distance away and walk back, but not a problem.

Yvonne Willis

Best BBQ around! Short drive off the 101 for travelers, I definitely recommend this place. Service was excellent too!

Rakesh Chabra

Great food, a little pricy...

Cathy Sareli

Great food, happy customer.

Tim S

Food was really good. However, it wasn't "hot" like just off the grill. It was luke warm. Still tasty tri-tip. Cole slaw was bland. Like they chopped up cabbage and served it plain. Beans were decent. Bread that came with meal was very good. The spicy BBQ sauce was hot and spot on! 3 adults, 2 children, $75.00. I'll give it another try.

Mike Trumpfheller

BBQ was good, the lager was alright. Maybe the only place I can recommend in this sad town.

Moss Jam

Absolutely wonderful smoked tri tip. Great BBQ sauce. They sell the sauce.

Nicole Rice

It was OK, nothing really to get crazy about. There's better BBQ in other spots. Place was packed and not alot of attention from staff. Felt like get them in and out.

Timothy Pooch

Been a favorite of ours for several years. Simple, easy and yummy. No frills. Heart of downtown Morgan Hill.. Awesome place

Rebecca S-A

I had their spicy chicken sandwich (the firebird), which was amazing. I like how they give you the option of having the sandwiches on either plain bread or garlic bread. Its a little cozy on the inside, so be prepared for some elbow rubbing if you're in a larger group. The only thing they're missing on their menu is a hamburger.

Lesley

Oh my gosh this food was sooo good. The beans were not sweet which is a good BBQ bean to me. Good service. Not a long wait and they were crowded. Went during a downtown festival.

Scott Woellert

Fabulous find. Fantastic service. Thank you Madison. Great knowledge of the area, as well. Awesome BBQ .

Tonja Kendall

They did great for my Grandsons birthday this weekend!!!

Trina Juarez- Hernandez

The food was a bit cold may have been AC but the beans under cooked. Waitress was cool though she gets 5 stars

jay hoffman

Great taste, great servers, will be back and recommend to all

Deanna Corrales

Ribs and Hot Links were very tasty. Each dinner plate comes with beans and potato salad.

Sc He

BBQ everything is good. Just make sure you get there early. Depending on the day and time they might run out of stuff, but don't worry everything is good. Great selection of beers.

Marlo Faulkner

Great pulled pork sandwich. Side sauce a hot killer. Good sidewalk seating--especially if you have dog with you. They have 8 restaurants, all with different names. New in Carmel, "Crossroads Barbecue,"

dizzle dean

Ribs are a must. Pork butt sandwich was the best sando my girlfriend has had.

Andrew Acosta

Chopped salad is amazing! Beer selection is on point with a beer style for all palates

Gordon Leak

Decent barbeque and a great beer selection

Joaquin Galaza

Had the brisket.... good flavor and good bbq sauce options. Nice craft beer selection.

Randy Heald

The food here was great but be prepared to wait because it is a very popular place

Ruben Soto

It’s a good place to eat and have a cold one

Carrie Courter

Best BBQ around! Good sized portions, indoor or outdoor seating. Sometimes a wait, but well worth it.

Young Erik

Beer selection was good but good average of best mabey what I ordered

Lise Peterson

Good food and craft beer in a casual setting. Very friendly staff.

Michael Lamb

Best brisket BarBQue in California. It is melt in your mouth food. Perfect smoke and cooked to perfection. My only complaint is that they only have the brisket Monday, Thursday and Friday. But them again their pulled pork with their special molasses vinegar sauce is pretty awesome as well. At least not having the brisket gives folks a chance to order this special dish as well.

James LeGoullon

Fantastic food. No complaints

Claire Cettel

Great food, take out was $100 for 6 people, they lost a star because 2 meals were left out of our bag. We went back, and they quickly got us the boxes, but we got home to find one was incorrect. So just check the food before you leave.

Keegan Wilson

Very delicious food with a rustic vibe. They started brewing their own beer and it is also A+

Stephanie Machado

Love this place. Ribs great, steak is delicious. Smoked Turkey for Holidays is awesome!

jason brown

really good. I liked the option of garlic bread for the sandwich buns

Dave Trowbridge

TL;DR: Highly recommended for all fans of Texas-style BBQ (and other types too)! I had meaty, melt off the bones St. Louis style pork ribs with a super-tasty sauce (mild, spicy, or "my head's on fire"--I chose mild), moist, delicious cornbread, and delicious potato salad. Great atmosphere and wonderful staff. Sort of crowded, though: the tables are very close together, and I'm not at all sure the place is completely ADA-compliant. But they made a valiant effort to accommodate two wheelchairs, one of them oversized, and the food was so good we hardly noticed! Also, the decor is all Western fun, but I hope all those beer bottles on shelves up against the ceiling are solidly glued in place--I sure wouldn't want to be there during an earthquake if they're not!

Aaron Dawson

Hands down our favorite BBQ in the area. Beer list is great too!

Aaron C

Tried the brisket and the tri tip. Both were excellent. Great stop in a place we were not expecting to find. A lot of taps available also.

Jenna Seo

Best bbq ever! It was little expen6fore but taste soooooooo gooooooood

Linda Harris

Excellent food...great staff

Ted Pierson

Cold draft craft beer. Cans too? Amazing bbq? 5 stars.

Cat Lorena

Great Tri Tip

donna kosanovich

I have been a patron of trail dust since they were in the wooded shop by the post office, like 15-20 years ago. It's amazing food, BBQ is always tender, juicy and falls off the bone! I love the BBQ sauce as well. I have been to a few places where the BBQ is bomb but the sauce just ruins it, gross. I love the signs the have inside so make sure you pay attention! "We all love our customers, some when they come in, and some when they leave" funny signs to read all over. It's a great place to go!

Greg Hamby

GREAT BRISKET

Rob Sees

Very tasty Brbq, had the Firebird sandwich for lunch, moist chicken, sweet sauce and a hint of heat.

Dr. Wes

Good bbq chicken. Friendly service!

Mr. Lau

Good bbq. Enough said. You know how hard it is to find good bbq.

e c

This place was incredible the service was great and the food and beer selection was even better. Definitely a place I would come back to and I live in San Jose.

Griffin Roush

The food and the service are nothing short of exceptional! While I hate California as a whole, I will certainly be a regular at this place! Five stars!

Jean-Pierre Del Fondo

Very good food

Mats Gunnarsson

We had a great team lunch. Food very good. Fast, friendly, and efficient service.

Calypso O'Reilly

Very popular restaurant here. We visited on what must have been an off day, because food was not all that great. The atmosphere may be the draw, though. Or us Southerners are just too particular about our bar-b-cue. Worth a try.

Jevon Friesen

Get the pulledporked sandwhich. Yum

Ian Panzer

This place is wonderful. Such a fun atmosphere and delicious food. I had the pulled pork sandwich and I can only describe it as sublime. If you are ever in the area, it's so worth going. However, the place is not very big and can fill quickly so get there before the rush.

Abe Simple

Great place I love to come here. The pulled pork and slaw is such a favorite of mine. I also mix the beans with the slaw which my mother hates but I do it anyway. Excellent restaurant.

Ferdinand Hendriks

Exquisite pulled pork, scrumptious berry cobbler dessert. Great beer selections

Yohlaunda Battle

My husband and I stopped here to get out of the maddening traffic on the 101 around 5pm on a Wednesday. It was almost empty but filled up fast. We considered it well worth the detour (about 5 min). We had the smoked chicken with a fresh side salad, baked beans and bread (cornbread for me, garlic bread for the hubby). We finished with the homemade cobbler filled with seasonal berries and topped with vanilla ice cream. It was all quite delicious and the service was great.

William Campbell

Food was great. Pulled pork and hogwash was on point and the waitresses were great!

Christofono Brown

Love going here, absolutely fun bbq and a great ale selection. The owners rock and the employees are always great fun.

Izak Kapi

Love the food and the place. It's definitely worth another visit it was our first time here but certainly not the last.

Alisha Coelho

Drooool, can't wait to go back. My favorite is the rib sandwich on garlic bread

Michael Molnar

Stopped here for some take away barbecue while passing through town. The service was very friendly and our order was quick. We had the chicken and the brisket sandwich and the food was excellent. The sides were good, if unremarkable. I do recommend the beans, which were NOT the typical overcooked, mushy mess you get at most barbecue places. I would come here again.

Renee Niemi

As authentic as it gets in CA. You'll pay about $18 for a sandwich, $20 for a meal. If your like smoked barbque, you'll be back!

Michele Chandler

My husband and I were traveling down 101 to visit family and googled a place to eat in Morgan Hill. This place popped up and we are so glad it did! Great BBQ, wonderful atmosphere and great service. Will remember this place for sure the next time we are traveling. Highly recommend it!

Spencer Oliphant

Some great real bbq. Quick service. Not the cleanest place and bathrooms could really use some work.

Chris Conway

Awesome brisket, chicken and pulled pork. Love the house baked beans. Good selection of craft brews.

Arpit G

The shredded chicken bbq sandwich with spicy sauce was melt in your mouth yummy

Robert Meidinger

Best BBQ in Morgan Hill for sure. It's got the full menu of smoked meat, you can get it on a roll (sandwich) or as a plate. Typical sides for BBQ food. Lots of great beers on tap. Simple

Richard Weber

Had pulled pork, beans, potato salad and a slice of garlic toast. Washed it down with one of the many selections of beers available. Everything was delicious. The pork was tender and juicy, not dry. Prices were reasonable. They do not take reservations, so there may be a wait on busy nights (worth waiting!) and you may need to make use of the large nearby parking structure. A really fun place, friendly attentive service, and some truly good BBQ.

Rebecca Clare

Best BBQ in the valley.

robert enriquez

This place is legit. Best Rib Eye steak around. A little pricey but well worth the treat. Gabby the waitress was on point with the service. Definitely recommend this place.

Eric Chun

Good was good. Beer was only what's on the board, not on the menu

Ironman Tony Stark

This places is by far the best restaurant in Morgan Hill and easily one of my favorite places to go. I personally look forward to the different beer selection every time I'm there. I feel that the BBQ is out of this world! Others might not agree with me there but take the BBQ out of there and it is still an awesome place to go visit and have a beer. This is a happy, welcoming ambiance! If you're new to the area I highly recommend you stop by and have some great BBQ and beer and if you're not in the mood for some BBQ, well take your pick at the wonderful craft beer selection!

Rebecca Lillo

Great BBQ and beer. Our server was very friendly.

Christine Munoz

I am from out of town. Heard this place was good. Yeah, good if you own the place, $15 for 3 small pieces of meat, tiny portion of potato salad and Cole slaw. Highway robbery. Also not that great.

Jorge Delgadillo

Great food with excellent service.

Anthony Gerst

What a great little jem

Theresa Schibel

Good BBQ. Family style. Good service. Pulled pork is very good.

Barry Paiga

Great BBQ place in Morgan Hill. Place is always busy but you can still get a table pretty quickly. The ribs and chicken are my favorite. Beer selection is pretty good. They normally have specials that are good. Garlic bread is always good. You can sit outside but you are basically on the sidewalk. Staff is always friendly.

Lee Winfield

Excellent smoked tri-tip. Will definitely come back!!

Gregory Hopwood

BBQ cooked on outdoor grill. Indoor and outdoor seating. May be crowded at times esp. Lunch on weekends. Beer and wine served. About 20 tables. Chicken, beef, and pork on menu. Takeout available. Limited amount of each meat cooked everyday. May run out so get there early or call ahead. On expensive side thus four, not five stars. However, if your pocketbook can afford it, it is worth it. Small parking lot behind store but large new parking structure very nearby,

Larry Martin

There menu is much improved since last visit. Plates, sanwiches and smoked meats. They have good wine and local craft micro brewery beers.

Mariana HC

BBQ ribs were okay. And the price was rather high. But it was all in all a nice cosy place to eat.

Oscar Lombardi

Great food, nice beer selection, family atmosphere, reasonable prices.

Sandra Anderson

The BBQ was really good. Will definitely visit again.

fred wood

Very good selection, prep and people. Hot link very tasty

Bill Jenkins

Good southern style BBQ, I grew up near Memphis and get pretty picky at what I call good. Nice smoke, tender meats and a good sweet (but not to sweet sauce). Wish the beans had been better and that they offered corn bread, but those are petty things that don't detract from good BBQ.

Matthew Austin

Wow, this place is great! Had the three meat dinner, 4 pork ribs, at least a cup of pulled pork, and tri-tip. Each had great flavor of its own and great sauce if you wanted. Best BBQ I've had in a while. Pulled pork was served with vinegar and the tri-tip was Oak smoked. Can't say enough great food!

R A

Great little Spot, great food, great service

Kristina Scarola

Love their food, beer, and service

Khrisela Kerbey

Food was so incredible that they actually run out! So come early or call ahead to reserve food!

Peter Kierstead

Delicious, the large sandwhiches are a lot of food.
