Stopped by for happy hour on a Friday. Had a few apps and beers at $5 each. The food was good. The server was friendly. We really enjoyed this cosy little restaurant. Parked on the street, not sure if there is a parking lot.

Jason Burks

Nice little place we found while on vacation Good food nice ppl

Amy Volker

We had dinner there before a show next door at the Akbar and the food was amazing!! I had the Turkey burger and it was delicious. My friend had the mushroom soup and it was also delicious. The restaurant is small but homey and the employees were very nice. Definitely recommend it.

Nice comfortable hole in the wall restaurant off Sunset in Silver Lake. Small lot in back and some street parking. Suggest Uber or Lyft instead. Food and service were very good and enjoyable. Menu deliberately limited so what they serve is well prepared. Nice mixed crowd and some outdoor seating. Worth the price. Worth a visit.

Kenneth Mcdaniel

Cool spot Affordable prices and good customer service (Recommend the chicken soup)

Adam Faruqi

Cute decor and they have outside seating. Limited parking in the back. Their donut holes are really good.

Mitchell Dougherty

american food, mmm, so good. This place is absolutely outstanding. The staff was friendly and sociable. Prices are decent.

Marianne Galleon

Great food and wonderful service!

Katerina Romanenko

Ecletic. Casual. Quaint. Quality. Good food. Inexpensive. Garlic heavy menu but I like that. Bruchetta, sauteed spinach and bread pudding are all capable of being craved in the future.

Maxwell McQuirter

Came here for a quick (30 minutes) dinner on a weeknight with 3 friends before a show. We were seated in a nice leather booth near the kitchen (no pun intended). I was impressed with the speed of service as we ordered two apps, four mains, and a dessert and all were served within 30 minutes as requested. The Mac and cheese was my favorite and an unexpected treat. The cheese was very runny, but the flavor and texture of the noodles was 100% correct. I wish the cheese was thicker to make it easier to eat, but I can't say it was difficult to scarf it down. The mains we ordered were the fried chicken, the stew, and a cheeseburger (medium rare). No major complaints on the mains, though the cheese (sharp cheddar) on the burger was hard to taste. The only faults I have is with the creme brulee and the burger. The creme brulee was bitter, which I think may have to do with the extra powdered sugar that was not melted on top of the custard. Or it could be something else. In any case, I would not order that again. Inside my burger I found a plastic bristle from the brush used to clean the grill. I told the staff (who identified the source) and they did not offer, nor did I request, a credit on the bill for the burger. I want to give this place 3.5 stars but since there isn't a half star option I rounded up for the quick and friendly service and mostly spot on food.

Y-Yen La

This place was great! It's a little on the small side, parking can be bit of a situation, and service was a bit slow but the food was good! Got the caramelized onion frittata; definitely recommend it!

Hannah Jo

Very good brunch! Definitely worth it. Went back again for a late lunch/early dinner. Ordered beef stew and turkey burger. Great tasting food and amazing service. Server was very sweet.

This is one of the best brunch places we've ever been to. The staff is also super kind and attentive, and it's a cute setting to start the day off right. If we're ever in LA again this will be for sure a place to stop again.

Great place for a delicious meal. Service was friendly and helpful. Definitely would recommend dining here if in the area. We got there relatively early and got a table straight away, by the time we left it was full.

orlando gallardo

Really bad service never coming back. I am not sure if the waitress was having a bad day but they did lose a customer today.

Kimberly A

I love it - it's like a hidden gym .. from the outside you'd look over it .. but walking in it's exactly what the name says ... THE KITCHEN ... good wholesome food fast .. wide selection of wine which I was totally happy with the house Cab... low lighting ... quiet but jazz music In the background and attentive service It's a win for me !

Emerald Jones

Not the place for those with food allergies! Im allergic to soy, and I called ahead and asked if they used soy oils or soy products and they said no, and it was safe for me to eat there. I had their turkey burger (it was amazingly delicious) but sadly broke out in hives and had an intestinal reaction as well. We called and asked again and they said they did not put soy in it, but their burger buns are made somewhere else and they could not verify the ingredients. I’m giving three stars because I did not ask specifically ask about their burger in person and they had excellent service and a great atmosphere. They just need to try a bit harder to know what is in their food.

Androj Nazarian

Amazing place very welcoming staff must visit once .

Sue L

I was never a fan of pancakes until I had the pear pancakes here! It’s slightly crispy but soft inside. Perfectly sweet, unlike most of other places that puts way too much sugar in their food. The syrup was light. It’s just perfectly perfect! ♥️♥️

coco cook

One of my favorite places for American food. Ambience, service, the truffle fries, the smokey grilled asparagus, the meatloaf. Still a go to place.

Jericho Kilpatrick

Wonderful food. Fantastic service. Cozy atmosphere. Beautiful space. The pot pie and BBQ were both excellent.

Eric Van de Velde

Iconic neighborhood restaurant for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Still great after all these years.

Violet Vincent

Always a good time at The Kitchen. This tucked away south area treat is great for lunch, brunch or dinner. Food is really good and you can't go wrong no matter what you order.

White Chocolate

Great service. Scrumptious food. The bread pudding is to die for.

May Vasquez

Excellent service and great food. Personal pizza is perfect for one person fills me to the brim, Sophie took my order and her smile made my day even better. All together fresh brothers I would say is quite the extravaganza.

Paradox Pollack

A refined restaurant that serves mundane food. Or is it a Monday restaurant that serves refined food. Not quite sure but it's a good place to eat.

Jade Panch

I've been to The Kitchen a couple of times for brunch and it's always a great dining experience each time. Food is awesome, portions are generous, and prices are reasonable. Service is always friendly and attentive too. Everything on the breakfast/brunch menu is good but my favorites are the donut holes and pear pancakes! The donut holes definitely hit the spot! The pancakes (comes with bacon!!) may be a bit too sweet for some but I have a sweet tooth sooo...If you're not into sweet stuff, try the kitchen scramble or the breakfast sandwich. Both are really excellent but the breakfast potatoes that come with it are just average. Coffee is refillable, by the way- and they constantly come around to fill it up! I've never had to wait long for a table although it's always packed during my visits. I wouldn't mind waiting though cause I love having breakfast here! Parking is easy. They have their own lot at the back of the restaurant and you can also park at the residential area, along Commonwealth. *I've never had dinner here so this review is just for brunch! Will update once I get to try their dinner menu!

Nathalie Karouni

I've been there a dozen times at this point and it's always been a satisfying experience. I would say the highlight is how they keep a simple, but strong permanent food/wine menu, but then whether everyday or every week they have at least 3 different special dishes (usually one meat, one fish and one veggie) so you can always decide if you want something new or stick to what you like. Another highlight is how long they've been there and kept the prices to a reasonable price tag for how expensive that area has gotten. Siting both indoors and outdoors, great service. I like how involved and with the same implication are both the waiters and the owner of the restaurant. Always a nice place to come to in Silverlake.

Sabrina Harrison

american food and the scene at this place is excellent. Great ambiance & decor. The staff was very helpful and observant. Prices were decent. I see why this place has so many good reviews.

Stan Lee

This place let's me down every time. So i have to put it to shame. Rest in peace. Parking is a joke, such as thr attitude of the worker's.

Vicnet C

The food was really good, especially the calamari and the chicken sandwich. However, they did spell Caesar salad wrong on the menu which honestly isn't a big issue because sometimes I spell stuff wrong too.

barbaralevinson1

Wonderful. I had pistachio crusted salmon. Yum!

H. Franco

NICE, INTIMATE Out of the Way Restaurant... EXCELLENT Food and a TERRIFIC Staff❗ Try the PORK CHOPS! They're DELICIOUS ‼️

Doug Westen

Great food. Great service. Great prices.

Margriet

Very good food and very good service! Would definitely recommend this place if you happen to be in the area. The staff also helped me very kindly with finding an Uber to go home. Would go here again!

Richie Aquino

Solid comfort foods and great value.

William Bouza

Great Flank Steak

Daniel Jordan

Great beet salad!

Solomon Sarang

Cozy place with familiar dishes most of which will remind you why the dish is popular in the first place, my personal favorite being the mussels and frites. Great service and free parking.

Elliott Sernel

Great local Silverlake restaurant, comfort food well prepared and very tasty.

Ryan Burke

Great food and excellent service in a cozy spot.

Judith Smith

Have ordered here several times, usually for take out, which I pick up in 15 minutes or less. I have tried just about everything on their menu and they are very consistent with their plates. My favorite is the short rib sandwich which is not available on Sundays, wish it was, but also their chicken soup is excellent, as well as their calamari, chicken sandwiches and beef Belgium stew. Like I said, I've tried just about everything and have never been disappointed. Service is friendly, place is clean and hip. Love it!

Debbie Daggett

Great food, great service!

Robin Carf

Delicious

Clint Campbell

Relaxed vibe with high quality food. The Kitchen is my favorite place in LA to eat dinner. They have amazing specials (had the Shepherds Pie last night and it's my favorite so far), the staff are always friendly and no matter what I order, it is delicious. I recommend the Pork Chop, the Bruschetta and the Cheesecake. Best. Cheesecake. Ever. (It's more creamy than dense)

LT

Best chicken pot pie! Mac and cheese, good appetizers as well. Service was very good.

Nicolas Claudio

The service and food were great!!!

Jeff Myrtle

Great food. Friendly hosts and staff. Great neighborhood vibe with big city cuisine.

Ricky Pete's

Overpriced and mediocre. The chicken soup had too much garlic, the noodles were mushy, and the croutons tasted like bread that had been left out for a few days. The salad and salmon were overpriced.

Marissa Berrini

One of my favorite spots for brunch! Must haves: the Italian egg breakfast sandwich and the donut holes. If you drink, the sangria is a must. Dinner is great here as well. The staff are super friendly and fun.

Tracy Hua

I went during Happy Hour, unknowingly, and I got the $5 truffle fries. The fries were a cooked great, however it lacked the truffle flavoring which I was super bummed about. The three dipping sauce that the fries came with were AMAZING though - I'm so sad I can't remember the names! I ordered an $11 Mac N Cheese and it was ok. Not sure if it was their style or not, but it was really watery. I don't think I've had Mac N cheese watery... cheesy, yes, but not watery. My last entree was the Fried Chicken with gravy, mashed potatoes, and succotash. This was good --- not as good as it looked over photos though. The food came out fast during dinner time, so that's a good thing. It's a very cozy place... any group larger than 4 might be tough there.

Kriss Sides

A little pricy and short on parking but great food!

Nikisha R. Julien

Had a great brunch there. I loved the setting and the food was tasty. Very good place to go brunching!!

E Agulr

Excellent dinner menu, delicious food, long list of alcoholic drinks, great for an intimate dinner, priced reasonably, small but they have extra seating outside too. Small parking area, but if you have to park on the street well worth the walk.

Ted Lovejoy

That was a good breakfast. LA seems to be full of cute little breakfast places of which the kitchen was certainly not the least. Nice to have a salad option with my omelette. Looked like a bunch of old hippies were running the place, and I say that in the nicest possible way and with admiration. If I weren't 3000 miles away from there at the moment I'd go back.

Jason

The food was great, the service was excellent, and the small outdoor & shaded patio was perfect and dog-friendly. Food was reasonably price considering the high quality, presentation, and portion sizes. Everyone at our table was full!

Mike Shaw

It was Horrible...definitely far from a 10 best

Andy Saiz

Amazingly tasty food, great beer, amazing service. This is an intimate place to dine. Good beer and wine selection. Tri tip was perfection

Jason Hodges

The Kitchen is Tasty! I’ve gone for brunch a couple times and really enjoyed my meal on both occasions. It’s a low key spot with indoor and outdoor seating. They serve generous portions. The French Toast Baguette is so good!

SMOKERS CORNER

Fantastic food, nice and fresh

Helen Cook

Had the happy hour items that I enjoyed. Small portions of French fries with a hint of truffle served with 3 sauces that I loved. Asparagus, biegnet stuffed with pork and sushi the seafood pasta. All very good. The Kitchen is a favorite of mine and I'm glad I was in the neighborhood.

Shaun H

Always fantastic food and service each and every time I go. It's becoming one of my favorite places to eat. Small and quaint, with attention to detail.

Jennifer Locke

Amazing place. There food is incredible, you can't choisc wrong .the fried food won't leave you feeling greasy or gross. The staff is incredible and so sweet and kind. Truely loved this place

James Neal

What's Good: Buttermilk Fried Chicken was not your typical breaded breast or drumstick, it was more flat but still very delicious. Went well with the mash potatoes and the perfect amount of gravy to make the chicken stay crispy through the feasting. The Mussels & Frites were good. What'd you expect from the dish but the sauce was well done. Great soak for the crispy fries. Other Notes: it's located on a fairly busy street so getting street parking might be kind of hard. We dined outside since it was a nice day and the sidewalk foot traffic was nice if you like to people watch while you eat. You also get a good view of the rooftop helicopter pickup/drop off at CHLA. Inside dining is also an option.

Ana D

Love this place!!! Since I moved into the area back in ‘08 - this is my favorite (hands down) brunch and dinner spot. Sublime wine selections, always and an absolutely fantastic staff.

Tiago Baeta

Demetre Rohrabacher

A preferred spot for tasty American food. Very appetizing. The staff was very sociable and kind. Prices are decent for the quality. They have so many great reviews for a reason.

JP Holmes

Excellent food and service!

Doug Hirsch

This indoor outdoor restaurant is charming, if sometimes uncomfortable. The food is good. The desserts are overpriced for their minuscule portions. I'm addicted to the short rib pie.

S J

Wonderful fried chicken and a variety of other fine comfort food dishes are served in this small restaurant.

Danielle Baker

Brunch is only available on the weekends. You should go for brunch.

Jeffrey Smalley

Buttermilk chicken was amazing! Server was very nice and polite as well.

Edwin Khoshabeh

Good food, I have lunch there few times a week. Healthy clean choice

Nikki Greco

A great little spot for brunch!

Delicious home made food!

Jeana Allan

I will admit, I was a little skeptical about this place at first. My husband needed to look for parking so he dropped me off to go get a table. Well, when you walk inside, it's wall-to-wall tables...no "hostess" stand or like, designated "please wait here" area, so I wasn't sure what the proper etiquette/policy was. One of the wait staff gave me a strange look and mumbled something unintelligible to me. So I basically just asked for a table for 2. He kinda shrugged me off and pointed to the next room. So I walk over there and there's no indication of anyone seating anybody so I just found a table and sat down haha (which I have learned is the norm). It felt a little awkard for some reason even though it wasnt a big deal... Anyway, after the odd start, our food and service was lovely!! Everything tasted so fresh that it made it worth the little extra pay. I highly recommend their bruschetta - some of the best tomatoes I've had in a long time. Their turkey burger is EXCELLENT (something I dont think I have ever said about a turkey burger before haha) and their lemon chicken sandwich was tasty too. The only minor down side to the Kitchen is how small and noisy it is. At times, I felt like I was shouting to my husband to chat. But honestly, it didnt detract too much from our experience....the food was the star of the show!

Maud Simmons

So good! I've gone here for years!

Danilo Di Julio

Delicious food, delightful service and reasonably priced. Thank you.

Megan Smalley

I went here recently while on vacation in Los Angeles. This place was recommended by my AirBnB host. The food here is amazing and totally worth the price! They know how to cook. The server I had was super hospitable.

Jim Royce

Love this place. Quirky yup. Comfortable yes. Service friendly. Food outstanding and generous. Pluses: pan-roasted chicken ****, giant bowl of mussels****, meatloaf ***, pork chop ***, giant bowl of chicken soup **** just like mom made and a meal in itself. Overall, a bit pricey but worth it. If you love garlic like I do, you'll love this place. If you don't, let em know. Plenty of free parking. Go there.

Aaron Davalos

Really, really good food, can’t wait to come back. Had the meatloaf sandwich and it exceeded my expectation. Friendly service.

Clifford Chung

One of my fav spots for quality American food. Went there on a Saturday. Really nothing but great experiences here, so I will be back.

Jeffrey Paris

Delicious and great service!

Tyler LaPointe

Cozy spot for a great brunch! I suggest the amazing baguette french toast!

Gregory Klassen

The food here is very good! ... and they deliver! I took my wife their for a nice date while in LA

KARIN DICKER

Meatloaf was delicious. Corn was so fresh. Garlic Potatoes could be little more garlicky. Highly recommend.

Violet Holloway

American food, super delicious. the staff was friendly and observant. it has a nice interior. menu is like a cafe in boston i loved.

ryan riggs

Meatloaf is flavorless too small of a portion for the price. Options for low carbs sides are minimal.

Richard Young

Good food

Jonathan Lindsey

Great food and very friendly staff. The Crusted Albacore is my favorite!
