Here you will see all the opinions of people who bought the services and products of Smoking Pig BBQ (Restaurant) near California.
As of day the firm gets a score of 4.2 over 5 and this rating has been based on 981 reviews.
You must have seen that the average score it has is quite positive, and it is founded on a very large number of feddbacks, so we can think that the valuation is quite credible. If many people have bothered to give their review when they've done well with the service, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to place scores when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Restaurant is included in the category of Barbecue restaurant.
Extraordinary ambience and very personal service. The meals were fresh and delicious. Will absolutely recommend this spot to others. Reasonable rates and large portions. Great job.
Went there for an early dinner. I ordered baby back ribs. Wife ordered the brisket. The rib was OK, maybe a 7 out of 10. The brisket was very dry even though we ordered 50/50 fat and lean. She can't swallow it.
Really good bbq. I highly recommend having the brisket and spare ribs. And please try the banana pudding if you have never had it. It's my favorite dessert.
Pork ribs was. Good
The brisket was so good. I loved the sassy sauce. Great service.
I've had much better BBQ. Ribs were so-so, but a little dry. Brisket was reasonably tender. Brats were way too dry. The wings were fried chicken vs. smoked (which you would expect from a BBQ place). On a positive note the service was swift. The search for great BBQ in the Bay Area continues. We likely won't be back.
First time food was good; second time disappointed. Live music is always fun. Check schedule for which nights.
Great food and music
Beautiful layout. Wonderful musical experience
My first time here the food was pretty good would have been better if it came out hot and not lukewarm. Not a fan of their mac-n-cheese but their bacon wrapped chicken lollipops were delicious. Our waitresses was nice, friendly her backup person was ok, there were a couple of mishaps but nothing that was world ending or to prevent me from going back.
Great food and service
Love this place. The banana pudding is worth cheating on your diet or diabetes. The only problem I have is there's not a location on the Peninsula. Though the 3 they have is worth the trip.
Delicious food! It reminds me of Texas! The only thing I would want is more veggie sides. I've only gone early in the day and I'm always surprised that there aren't many people. I'd imagine there are more people at night. Especially when they have the live music.
Ate many different kinds of meat and all were delicious.
Pulled pork excellent. Service friendly & good. Best BBQ in the East Bay.
The best vibe and people peace be with you
Loved my first visit! Great food, great vibe.
Pretty poor. Good service but the meats were bad. Burnt ends were in fact burnt. Pulled pork flavorless. Mac n cheese needed help. People go for the live music I guess and happy hour.
Food was ok service was ok. Bring your own straw.
I had the wrong expectations. I was hoping for really delicious barbecue. I got tepid bar food. If I had wanted a jovial sports bar atmosphere, I would have been in the right place. Go with friends to get tipsy, rather than on a date.
Good service, delishes food. Louisiana hot sausage was actually spicy (I like spicy food and it has a kick). My husband and daughter enjoyed ribs and pulled pork, so flavorful and tender. The best part is the smell that hits you when you enter.
I thought the food could have been better
I had dinner here on Saturday night and found their kitchen to be very efficient. I got the ribs and the burnt ends. I think I would pass on the burnt ends in the future, about half of them were good but the other half was very hard and inedible. I am not a cornbread fan and not a rice fan either. I would much prefer to see them offer french fries or tater tots even if I had to pay extra. I wound up throwing the cornbread in the trash. I will come back again but it may be a while.
A place to eat BBQ meats and some good side dishes. Live band was setting up, so the place was a bit busy. Order your food when the waiter person comes or it will be a long wait. There are fewer items on the menu vs beer selection, but there all very tasty. We were there for 4 hours and never pressured to leave.
I love BBQ so I might be a little bias ... I’d definitely come back
It is a very delicious barbeque restaurant and you will love it if you love barbeque.
Had some great tasting Wolf Turds, Habanero Chicken Wings (not that hot), coleslaw and peanut butter pie.
Excellant
If you are in downtown San Jose or out by SJC make it a point to drop in to Smoking Pig for some serious BBQ. It is a place to worship meats, not the decor or the ambiance. It is about the BBQ and the creative appetizers. What do you think of when you hear Wolf Turds? Here they are delicious. We always start with an order of burnt ends, the bits from the point half of the brisket. Yum. Then some Wolf Turds, which are Jalapeños peppers filled with their special cheese blend and sweet sausage, wrapped in bacon and slow-smoked to howling goodness. Next, Chicken Lollipops, drummettes brined and snipped so the meat as it cooks retracts to one end, wrapped in bacon. Like candy. Then we order some brisket, ribs, pulled pork and louisiana sausage. Oh and do not forget the corn bread, best I have had in a long time, doss not fall apart as you eat it. Do not worry about ordering too much, by all means take it home! They have sammies, sides and better yet you can order all the wonderful meats by the pound :-). As noted above the outside and inside reminds you slightly of a dive bar, but do not let that deter you from some of the best BBQ in the area.
Great bbq nd great uncommon ky beer
Their chicken sammie is great!
Excellent preparation though quantity is small
This place has decent selection of beers. Not much decor just all wood. The food is okay nothing to rave about pretty standard bbq. Which is not bad but doesn’t get me back like I got to have this. I go with co-workers since this place usually empty and has room to fit 12 or more people at a table. It’s really the only place to find BBQ in Fremont area.
We tried the Smoking Pig during an overnight layover looking to experience some local BBQ. We were very satisfied with the friendliness of the staff and the brisket sandwich was dead-on in flavor and size. We had one 'lean' and another 50-50 and each was just as ordered and delicious. Highly recommended if in the Newark California area.
Google's new takeout modal was easy to use. The food was good. Decent BBQ not much more than thatt
The service was horrible. I thought you were suppose to seat yourself because nobody even seated myself and my date. There were a small amount of people in the restaurant but the waitress never checked to see if we needed anything. The food was not at all good. There was a racist vibe and this place should be shut down. The food is bad and the service is worse. I would not recommend this restaurant at all!!! I even saw a customer go to the kitchen to get servers because there were no servers assisting customers also there was nobody to greet customers as they walked in so we seated ourselves. This was the worse dining experienceI have ever experienced and I will never go back.
This meal was about $15. The pork was the best. The coleslaw could use a little more flavor. Overall it wasn't too bad. It's the best southern-ish food you can find in Fremont which I'll gladly take to remind me of home.
Ok so I wanted to start off with how it was coming in. The host we’re gossiping about in house chatter and I had to over hear it while waiting to be seated. The food came out fast and was very cold. Not worth the prices because the bbq was dry and did not have much flavored to it. But over all I enjoyed the desert but will never come here again. The manager with the beard who walks around with keys dangling seemed to friendly and to touchy with employees and that seemed rather odd. I don’t get how this place isn’t shut down.
It was okay. The meat was fall off the bone tender, but I didn't really like the sauce options. Great atmosphere to hang out with friends though.
The Pig! Best restaurant in the South Bay. Character. Classic R&B. In-house smoked meat. Try the Wolf Turds! Live Music Saturday night. Almost as good as the one in San Jose on 4th.
Great BBQ joint. Service is pretty good. The portions are substantial. Excellent BBQ with lots of options! Be sure and try the Mac n cheese!
Okay good food eating yes Peggy
Great experience! They forgot me after being seated, it was only a few minutes and i really didn't mind, as soon as they realized i hadn't been helped it was game on. I ordered and a minute later my food was in front of me. Fantastic!
Ordered the 3 meat combo - brisket, burnt ends and sausage links and they were all yummy!
Just went in, said "to go orders at the bar" went to order 2 dinners to go .... after 5 minutes of being ignored I left. Not sure if I will come back. I really like their food but being ignored isn't something I like. Guess I won't recommend any longer.
Did they raise their prices and smaller portions? $6,+ for 2 wolf turds..$14.99 pulled pork Total $23.35.+2 tip...$25.35 total not even close to filling me up... $25 dollars for 1 person .. and I'm still hungry... I won't tell anyone about it again! I was telling my family and friends to try it but now I'm telling everyone not to go.... LOST A GOOD CUSTOMER . I WONT BE GOING BACK !!!???
Band was great! I don't know if its every night. Food is good but the service is horrible. Waited for about 30 min just to get out drinks and apps and another 10 min for plates.
Lots of seating, food is not bad, too!
Love the food and hospitality
Great crowd. Awesome bands with room to dance. Amazing fatty brisket. Ribs are super Smokey and tasty. Wolf turds too spicy for me.
As we're driving by I spotted this place on the side of the road. Me and my family were starving and went to a couple locations on the other side of the freeway that were really busy. I spotted this Smoking Pig and flipped a quick turn and decided to try it out and BBQ sounded really good! What a great decision! As we walked in it was kind of slow a few people sitting at the bar. We were greeted by a very nice girl in the front and sat us down immediately. Our waiter was extremely courteous and told us about what they had on the menu. We all ordered the two item with ribs and chicken, ribs and sausage, and ribs and pulled pork. Each came with a side and I must say they were all delicious!! Especially the ribs. Wow! Fell right off the bone as you were eating it really large and juicy, lots of meat and 4 sauces to choose from to pour on top of or dip in. We were extremely impressed with the food taste, we thought it was reasonably priced and once the food came out it was definitely perfectly priced for the portion and taste. In fact I would have paid more just kidding(please don't raise prices) I've already told several people about this location and definitely plan to return again. Keep up the good work. After finishing I was outside having a cigarette and met one of the employees, I believe the manager he was a really cool guy and told him it was our first time there and we really enjoyed the food. He was very happy to hear that and said that they try. The guy was down-to-earth and pretty awesome. Looking forward to returning soon as the food, the staff and bar was great and the environment was friendly and homely . I attached a picture below of 1 of many smokers outside (WOOOW) and they have plenty inside too.
Nice places, good food and service. Perfect Location
Good bbq cozy lil place live ban after 900 on fri
I only this there for bar head few beers not It's not like hooters they used to be there about 8 I would recommend this place
The barbeque was amazing! The coleslaw left much to be desired though. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
Great place with a variety of pork meat. I will always order ribs. They are really big, if you are hungry then order the half plate. Nice place at afternoon, but weekends night they have live music, I do not like it because cannot talk to anyone else due to the noise. Variety of beer.
Fun, food, drinks, lots and lots of beer! Happy Hour is fun at bar. Blues and Rock Bands Friday and Saturday. You dont have to dress up, just go eat and party. Not a yuppie spot : meat here!
The restaurant was empty when we visited. The staff was great and too good care of us. They did a great job of recognising when we needed something and when we just wanted to sit. The food wasn't fantastic but it was okay.
The place serves large portions and for affordable pricing. helpful owner. Highly recommended.
Always good atmosphere n food
Very dry meat and the manager walks about the restaurant with keys "gingeling" on his hip. Am I in a prison? I was asked to leave because I brought up the dry meat and the manager making too much noise with the very noisy keys on his hip. And of course he didn't give a s#1t. He kept on "sounding" his keys. Go ahead and dine if you want a dude walking around with the sound of janitor keys while you try and eat your dry chicken. Hi
Tasty bbq chicken &ribs
Awesome bbq, fair prices, great service. What more could you ask for?
Food was delicious, server was friendly and the bartender was fantastic. He made a fantastic old fashioned.
Love the atmosphere...food...n free music...great drinks n nice single older gentleman
Well I go to see my friends preform there service is good mix drinks are very good per my lady friends and for me the beer is real cold food portions are very good we enjoy the 3 meats platter or if we just want to pick the sampler or the Brisket Nachos are good I enjoy the COLESLAW and POTATO SALAD
Love the briquet, it's solid but you can cut it with a fork!
The best BBQ in da Bay.
Had lunch. Our waitress Emily was great.
I've had much better tasting food. They also ran out of prime rib. Dickies and Dave's are much better for barbecue.
Felt a bit like home, and the food was excellent! Brisket was an especially welcome find out here.
Prime rib is only on sundays at 5. It was damn good bbq, unexpected for fremont
Pull pork is superb, rib melted of the bines
Staff was very friendly and professional, food was great. Went there with a pack of kids after a long hike in the area and had an excellent time. Would recommend the brisket and the spare ribs :)
Awesome place good music and great food
Hitmen was Great Band!
Awesome food, even the mac n cheese is to write bad checks for, but bring a credit card. The price is more than reasonable and the live music on the weekends is fun, starts at 9pm...we will definitely be back
Decent , lunch special was great value. Not a place I would go out of my way to eat.
The smoking rib is really good. Juicy and tender! There are three different kinds of beef brisket, lean, half and half and fatty. Even if we ordered lean , it's very juicy and tender. The level of wellness is right on spot! All in all, it's one of the best bbq restaurants we've been to.
Ohh well for that price there are plenty of other bbq pit with better meat.
Good place to eat. Good service. Would love to come back and listen to music and eat
Great food and service.
Food is great but some of the men make Rude comments to Female customers. I was at the bar and a small women came in to order to go wearing a long skirt and one the male workers asked if she belongs to a church or "why is her skirt so long". How rude and why is he Objectifying a customer by her attire. It was loud so she couldn't here and when she heard it seemed like it really bothered her and she left. I will now only order food to go. #metoo
The baby back ribs were delicious. Great bbq restaurant.
This is your standard BBQ joint. They do have live music on some nights and put on a Sunday breakfast with relatively cheap mimosas. I enjoy their pulled pork and nachos most.
Food was bad, long time to be waited on the place was not full, Very last minute entertainment was canceled my first and last time .
I love the fatty brisket, cornbread and greens. the beer selection works for me. Peanut butter pie is great, but I rarely have room.
Worst bbq I've had in a long time. Dry, dry, dry. Tasteless and I didn't like their sauces. I gave them a second chance but was the same results. Never again.
Everyone must try the Wolf Turd!!
Two of the guys I work with talked about how good the brisket and smoked ends were here......they were so right! I was promptly seated and my server was on her game. The restaurant was clean and all the staff that passed by my table were friendly. My meal arrived very quick and was very tasty! I enjoyed the assortment of bbq sauces with my meal. I felt that for the portion size and quality that I received, it was well worth what I spent!
Great quality BBQ...live music..good drinks
Good food.. but SOOOO overpriced!
Brisket was so good with the Carolina sauce. (Get the fatty option!) Greens could've been better. Baked beans were good
Very good Ribs
Very good BBQ, and Friendly & Great service.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff!
Orded pork rib tacos and got chicken. The bartender compte the meal and ordered a pork one for us to take home. Silly me I didn't check it , at dinner that night, it was chicken. Probably will never be back. The SJ place is better.........
Friendly personal, large and tasty food. I recommend the local brisket!
The "Pig" brings some of the greatest and latest musical acts to Grace the East Bay!!
They have good food and nice selection to choice from, they where friendly and place was clean!
Amazing burnt ends and generally great BBQ food. The 2 or 3 meat platter (brisket, burnt ends & ribs are my favourite) is more than enough for most people and the appetizers with stuffed peppers and Mac n cheese balls are heavily recommended.
Disgustingly overpriced food, arrogant bartender...and the food is average.
Cool spot to hear live music and great food!
Good food, good live music
Music is excellent, very small dance floor & service is slow on weekends
I had dinner here on Saturday night and found their kitchen to be very efficient. I got the ribs and the burnt ends. I think I would pass on the burnt ends in the future, about half of them were good but the other half was very hard and inedible. I am not a cornbread fan and not a rice fan either. I would much prefer to see them offer french fries or tater tots even if I had to pay extra. I wound up throwing the cornbread in the trash. I will come back again but it may be a while.
Food is great, you can smell this place even before you come in. It's your typical bbq joint.
If you've never had authentic BBQ and came here, you might find it passable. I had a brisket and pulled pork lunch platter with cornbread and southern style greens. The brisket was waaaay too dry, the pulled pork was acceptable in that it was cooked properly, but unfortunately had no flavor. The BBQ sauces were all wrong, I tried the Kansas City style sauce and the Carolina style sauce. The Kansas City style sauce tasted like it had a generous helping of dry rub and cayenne mixed into a basic BBQ sauce base, which is unlike anything you'll ever get anywhere in Kansas City, and the Carolina style sauce tasted like the same base with mustard and vinegar added, which again is unlike anything you'll ever get anywhere in the Carolinas. The greens were cooked properly, but tasted as if the pork fat was added at the last minute, and the only fat it was actually cooked with was butter. The only part of my meal that was done exceptionally well was the cornbread, which was amazingly moist with just the right amount of sweetness. All in all, the food was edible, but expensive as BBQ goes, even in the Bay Area, so I will not be returning.
Very fast and friendly staff. The food was delivered quickly but the portions were a little small. The brisket was dry, but we ordered it from the lean side. We ordered a hot link and it was more like a sausage, it didn't look as pictured. The brisket ends were bomb, I didn't enjoy the wolf turds because they had sausage in them but the rest of my party really really enjoyed them. We all enjoyed the mac and cheese. The ribs were moist and juicy. Corn bread bomb
The food is great, don't get me wrong. I used to go to the one in San Jose all the time. This location, the staff isn't as friendly and the night we were there, hardly any service..it wasn't even busy. Next time, I'm sticking with the original location.
Had the burnt ends. FABULOUS!!!!!
Good food lots of it not the best barbecue place but really tasty
Food was ok. Expecting more bbq sauce on the meat.
Nice food and music
Very Different From San Jose Spot, but Same Deelishus BB♡
The food is great. If you enjoy mac and cheese, you have to try some, it is the best "grown-up " mac and cheese around. The service was just right, not hovering or too far away if we needed anything. We will be back!
Not southern BBQ but it's still good.
Good beer , nice staff. If you like meat, this IS your place !!
Drove 30 min to have dinner, but they have a cover charge to get in for a band that starts later that night. A restaurant is a restaurant and should make a-commendations for diners, I won’t be wasting my evening heading there for dinner again, to bad because the food is almost as good as their location in San Jose.
Fast service and instant ambiance off BBQ when you walk in with the smoky smell. Great selection of classic BBQ meats. Brisket was tender and flavorful. Can't wait to go back. They even ask if you want your serving lean, fatty or 50/50!
Perfect ambience for a weekend brunch. This place is also kind friendly which is pleasantly surprising. Great bar food and beer options. Nice and friendly staff.
The meats were well seasoned, the service was friendly! They have music after hours with various bands as well as TVs for sports. The price was reasonable for what you got, I'd be interested to know what the lunch portions were like. I would return again for what we got!
I eat in this spot a lot since I work right next to it. I love how the service is always awesome and they keep the spot well kept constantly. Rates are reasonable and they serve sizeable portions.
We love smoking pig but the location in Fremont has horrible customer service.
Great food, quick and friendly service and a great place to bring kids
Bomb rack of ribs, great sauce selection
Went with my brother and his family. The atmosphere was great. They had a live band playing and the food was really good
Wonderful BBQ. Selection of 4 excellent sauces. Friendly service
Food was awesome and the atmosphere there is great it is the place to go if you want the best bbq in the bay real
Hands down the best BBQ restaurant I've ever been to ! Their Sammy sandwich is perfect for a quick delicious bite. Got a bigger appetite? Try their ribs - they're huge, but can sell out early! Don't wait until the last minute to place an order here !!
Best BBQ in the Bay Area, Brisket melts in your mouth..
I love this place. Excellent BBQ, great atmosphere, bands on the weekend
If you love traditional BBQ food this is the place for you. The burnt ends brisket was perfect. Crispy on the outside and O so tender in the middle. The sides were awesome as well. Can't go wrong with the BBQ beans. The flavoring is amazing. Loved the mac n' cheese too but it can be a little runny. Flavor was awesome though with a hint of garlic.
Our food was deliciously fresh and quickly delivered. Our waiter was very attentive. The live band playing was the best by far I've had the pleasure to encounter there. The ambiance was good and the a/c was working well. All in all a very satisfying evening for this mom and her adult son.
For is good but drinks are always super super weak. Best off drinking beer.
Was there at 12PM on a Sunday, no wait, got seated instantly. Got the three meat combo. All the meat was tender and flavorful. Would've liked a smokier flavor in the chicken. The Carolina sauce was fantastic, if you like mustard in your sauce. Great service, and friendly staff. Thank you!
Good brisket, good blues band
Great food. Friendly waitress. Hot too.
Good but not great
Food wasn't very hot. Chicken was dry, and seemed a little pricey for what we got. Our servers name was Jeff. He was great.
Great food. Nice selection of brews. Love the ribs!
By far the best BBQ I've ever had. Staff was friendly and attentive, but the food is really what sealed the deal for me. I would go back in a heartbeat.
Really good food and portions. Their sauces are really good. I had sliced brisket sandwich with fries and a large root beer float. Tonigth the entertainment was a latin cuban band. Lots of people
Good BBQ and good blues music...can't go wrong
This is a great place for quick bites. The brisket and pulled pork sammies are highly recommended. If ordering from Kids section though, be aware that some items don't include the bun.
so good! best bbq i've had in california!
Went to hear the music.. Friday night crowed was very interesting ... 60 and over.. nice time ..
Great food and a great place for the family or friends!
Service was quick, and quite attentive. We tried a few different thing as it was our first time there. Marbled brisket was by far the best, with pulled pork coming in a close second. Wasn't a fan of the Mac and cheese though, while it it was cooked perfectly it tasted bland this time. Definitely willing to try it again next time
The food here wasn’t that good AT ALL MY PEACH COBBLER TASED HORRIBLE AND THE PORK WAS BAD but the ice cream was decent
Had some yummy ribs, fatty brisket, bratwurst and hot link, augmented with southern greens and fries. Good place for a family style meal.
Every time I've been, I see the Manager, Anthony. I've had a birthday dinner for 12 and we had great service. I've been with just a couple of friends and we had great service. When I've asked questions for food allergies and intolerance, great service. When I didn't see what I wanted on the menu, Anthony helped me order what and how I could to get what I was looking for, excellent service! Getting the picture? And of course I love the food and keep coming back...but the customer service is what keeps me suggesting this place for dinner because I just don't see it many places any more.
I thought the food was ok nothing too special but the server we had was on point! We got the fried macaroni and the first batch was cold in the middle. Our server was very helpful and got us a new one and took it off the bill. I thought that he handled it very well and we walked out happy with full belly's. All in all we had a fun time and the food was good enough. We will probably go back again just because of the excellent service we received!
This spot always delivers. They have great food for affordable rates, there are no long waits even when they are full.
DELICIOUS. Get the burnt ends ASAP, because they only have a certain amount per day. Good on-tap beer options. Great service.
Amazing brisket and ribs. Awesome love blues and funk music every week, reliably good bands! Even dancing!
The chicken I had was really dry! The french fries so salty it had seemed liked they were cooked in nothing but salt. The only thing good I could say about this place is the staff is friendly.
Good food at decent price. Bbq is their speciality so just order any of it blindly and it is good. Quantity and quality both are good. Chicken ribs I ordered were delicious. Potato salad was also good. Service is quick and staff courteous. They have ample parking nearby. The place is crowded in peak time but given it is big restaurant, you find the table.
