Rude customer service made us walk out tonight. I've eaten here many times and have always been seated immediately. In fact, we are used to seating ourselves because there are always a lot of empty seats available. Tonight we walked in and went to sit down but the waitress stopped us, visibly annoyed, and told us to wait for her to seat us. There was nobody else waiting and plenty of seats open but we said ok and stood there waiting for 5 minutes while she took her time and slowly went about closing out 2 customers. She made no effort to hurry or even look our way. She ignored us. So we walked out. There are literally 20 better restaurants within a stone's throw with great customer service so she needs to put her attitude in check. Review on the food..... I've eaten here about 10 times. This place is ok in a pinch but when you compare it to great shabu restaurants in LA it's a far cry from good. Udon noodles are always mushy and quality of meat could be a lot better for the price. There's even a new shabu restaurant opening on balboa.

Nutty nah

Very disappointed. First i cant concentrate eating without looking at their dirty floor..the meat option was a joke, you get 3 option new york, ribeye, prime rib..considering they are all cut very thin not much difference..way to op for 6 thin couple of slice..try it your self...the worst part was the veggies jesus...tastes n feelings even the smell..not fresh like one those to go veggies on the plastic...terrible..

We decide to try this Japanes restaurant and was very good. Fresh ingriedents...we Need Cook our foods and was very excellent experience. You can decide with meat want to eat and how much, the type of sauce. Price was good for all. For sure a Place to come back!!

I liked this shabu shabu. Only wished there was more mixed meat options. I mean, the veggies were good, the meat I had was tasty, it was just very limited on the meats one could get. I'm a huge meat fan, so when I see that I can get only one or two meats, I hurt a little inside :P but the rest of the food was good.

I used to be a regular at this place. The renovations really made the interior look the way it deserves. Their ponzu sauce and meat options are amazing! The size and openness of the eating space make it easy to be seen and served. Fair prices for a lot of food, but terrible parking. Prepare for a walk.

Food was good but the older lady that was assisting me was very unprofessional when I asked for rice, it took 15mins to get me another bowl of rice during a time when it was real slow. Never coming here again!!!

Everyone in my party ordered the regular size, and it filled all of our stomachs. The customer service was really orderly and the server was really friendly and hospitable. The only downside is that you cannot take out your food, but the food is delicious and worth every penny.

I love this place! My favorite place for Shabu in San Diego!!! In fact, I'm going to go there again right now, lol! When I worked in the area I would go at least 2x a week. It's really the best. And if you don't know Shabu that well, it's probably one of the healthiest ways of eating there is- lean meats and veggies, flash boiled in water (by you) and dipped in yummy sauces!

I was really excited to try this place but was slightly disappointed. The food, although a bit pricey, was very good but making it was a bit of a hassle. For some, I'm sure that's the lure but just not for me. The staff was super-friendly but could've given us 'first-timers' a little more direction on the food preparation.

In the usual sense -- people go out to dinner to avoid cooking. So by all normal standards, Shabu Shabu shouldn't work. But it does. And well. Who would have thought that dipping delicious meats in a pot of boiling broth could be so excllent. Fun place for a date, if you want things to get adventurous, and even better with your honey. Japanese hot pot rocks. And I don't even have to clean up the mess.

Really good shabu shabu. Tough to go with a group so stick with 4 or less is possible. It's best when it's cold and rainy out. Get it with spicy miso and crank that flavor up!

I've been to a half dozen Shabu Shabu restaurants in SD and LA, this is one of my favorites. I've been here at least a couple dozen times and its fantastic each time.

This is an experience and one of the funnest places to eat! Order shabu shabu with prime rib, it won't disappoint. Don't forget to order it with spicy miso. The service is great and I always leave feeling completely satisfied! Here's how it works. Every seat has a little grill with a pot of water (yes one per person) you will choose how you want your broth and then your protein there's lots of choices but I would go with the prime rib if it's your first time. They give you a basket full of veggies and once your pot is boiling off you go! Start cooking your veggies and meat at your own pace! You also get as much rice as you would like. It's super casual but they've improved the decor in the last year so you can fancy it up if you're on a date. Expect to pay around $20-$25 per person but it's totally worth it I always leave with enough leftovers for another meal!

AMAZING food, super nice staff that explained the process and options we had for meat! Also, they have 2 things that I love, but haven’t found at any other Shabu Shabu place in America... Hot/sour Thai Lemongrass broth and Takoyaki! This is now my new favorite spot in town.

I've had shabu shabu many times including in Japan. This one is below average. The meat quality is low and way too thin. We ordered the prime meat for about $30 which is a good size plate but because its too thin it's about 3oz no more. The service wasn't friendly also. I don't think I will go back there again. I will try other places instead.

Interactive dining, you essentially make your own ramen where you sit. Very tasty, not cheap, good first date joint.

I've eaten here dozens of times and have made it a ritual to bring all of my "out of town or country" friends here. I'm a fan of the prime beef sukiyaki with pasteurized egg dipping sauce. You simply can't beat it. The staff is efficient, fast and provide an excellent friendly atmosphere to accompany the fantastic food. Give it a try. You owe it to yourself. You'll feel like you're with family.

Fondue style restaurant where you cook at your tabletop. Wasn't sure where to begin. Staff was friendly, but could have offered a bit more direction on how to order, how to properly cook the selections and what sauces go good with the different meats. A lot of food so you will definitely have leftovers and that is good because it is a little pricey.

My fiance and I went here for date night. This was probably the best noodle soup I have ever had! The waiting staff was very helpful on food selections and wine pairing. We had a fantastic time. I'm only giving 4 stars because it was a bit pricey.
