This Restaurant is included in the category of Japanese restaurant.
Miso black cod, crispy rice, and yellow tail. Must haves. Great place! Staff was very attentive, and they do a great job to help pace out the food coming to the table. All plates are to share with the table.
Very very good. The staff there is really friendly. They made sure we didnt need anything. Just loved this place. Warning gets busy.
The food was just as delicious as I thought it would be. The service was fast and friendly. I would eat here again.
I have nothing good to say about this place except the seemingly high end ambiance. Food is insanely overpriced. Waitresses are apparently not happy with what they do but forced to make fake smiles that quench my appetite. Male restroom is dirty as hell. I would not recommend to the least degree with one exception: your money is not hard earned.
Disappointed with food. Great service and location. There are better places to go near by.
japanese food at this location - great. Stopped in on a Tuesday. Looking forward to coming back with my coworkers.
Awful service by the hostess, they don't care if you have a reservation and look to give you the worst table available.
Awesome rooftop bar with super tasty cocktails! It was pretty loud but not too loud for conversation if you're sitting close enough
Great sushi restaurant.. service, food and ambiance were all great! A must try.

Holy
Always good food, but $$$
Best sushi I have had so far!
The waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the food, wine and beer.
Bluefin Tuna Nigiri was
Nice
This restaurant was recommended to us by a bartender in San Diego. I had previously heard about it from a friend and the television. We were so excited to go as it is a fancy and expensive place to eat at (and my partner and I love sushi). We got there right around opening time at 5:30 and decided to sit at the bar. The sushi chef was hands down one of the most unfriendly/unwelcoming sushi chefs I have ever come across. We were excited for recommendations and to order and one of the first things he said was “why don’t we work on this first and go from there.” Very interesting comment considering WE are the customers and should be able to order whatever we want. Throughout our conversation with kappy (sushi chef) he kept saying “you’re the one eating it” and seemingly made fun of our questions. It was obvious he either did not enjoy us and our questions or was having a bad day. Anyways, nearly $300 dollars later I walked away extremely disappointed and wishing I had spent my money basically anywhere else. Considering we had eaten out for every meal in San Diego for four days and had nothing but amazing experiences, I would definitely say you can get your money’s worth and a far better experience elsewhere.
I consider myself a foodie and when I think of great fresh sushi, only a couple places make the grade: Nobu New York, Nobu Malibu, Sushi Den Denver and Nobu San Diego.
I was a passionate lover of this place. But ur should be SILENT PARTNER Robert De Niro has made me never want to come back again. Until u ax him I will never set foot in another Nobu again. He makes me ill. Oh and by the way if I was ever in a restaurant and Robert walked in I would leave ASAP!!!
It's hibachi. Not a name brand spot but food is just as delicious. The cooks are very entertaining and make the food worth the wait.
Server was amazing, good was best ever. A dining experience...
Very very good. The staff there is really friendly. They made sure we didnt need anything. Just loved this place. Warning gets busy.
Excellent food in a fun environment, this is especially for those who like to enjoy a little adventure in their dining experience
Best and Fresh Sushi ever in Town!!
Expensive but good.
Great food, and good company
Very expensive for what you get. Sushi ok but much better is out there . Paying for the experience.
Really lovely and the food is tasty. However, the portions are tiny and the prices are obscene. Very nice and knowledgeable wait staff.
If I could give them 6 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ I would !! Amazing fresh high quality sushi. Sensational flavors.excellent service - ask for Niles!
I have visited NOBU in Malibu before and really enjoyed myself...so to me, this was a let down. The food was just ok, the staff was just ok...the experience was unforgettable and the price tag high...leaves you feeling unsatisfied and used, like you go on a date with this beautiful, dream person and then you realize they have no substance...
Food is good, good drinks. However, service below par and a bit expensive for what you get.
I’ve been dining at Nobu since the late 90s (have been to NYC ones, Vegas, Matsuhisa in LA AND SD several times) and they still impress. Great service. Yes it’s loud but the restaurant has a fun vibe. I wouldn’t take a first date here or my relatives. Our group had a great meal and great time.
Doesn't have a view.
Great food and amazing service. Highly recommend going with a close group of friends and family.
Very expensive however, the food was amazing. High quality fish which was great in both flavor and texture as well as options many other places don’t offer. I definitely recommend.
Located in the Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego inside the Hardrock is one damn fine sushi restaurant. An excellent place to go if your up for an adventure and want more than the typical fare served at every other sushi place you know.
Yellow tail jalapeno Sashimi is superb, a must try. Forewarning: small portions and high price so you will still be hungry after
I thought I wasn't the sushi guy until I came here. The food was exceptional, something I don't say very often. I've had sushi twice since. I guess I'm a sushi guy after all. Thanks Nobu!
We celebrated our daughters 21st birthday here and had one of the best meals of our lives and a wonderful time. For us this is a place to go for special occasions when you don’t mind spending more money for top-notch food and service. We loved the scallops, rock shrimp and wagyu beef salad.
If you're looking for a higher end Japanese restaurant in San Diego, Nobu is your spot. The menu variety is solid, the food is absolutely delicious and the presentation is exceptional. Have no doubts about the quality of fish and seafood, Nobu does not skimp on quality. While the service is great, it's what you'd expect for the high price tag. The only downside is parking. I happened to live in the Gaslamp which made it easy, but if you're commuting, I recommend paying for valet.
One of my favorite Japanese restaurants in downtown. Conveniently located at the Hard Rock hotel in Gaslamp district. Delicious Asian food with a classy and modern vibe.
Love this place, awesome food, great staff, lots of FUN!
I enjoyed dining in Nobu San Diego's private room recently. The tasting menu included an impeccable assortment of Nobu's finest sushi, salads, and treats. It was one of the best sushi meals I've had with very attentive service. Add it to your list if you're looking for a great sushi meal to impress!
TL,DR: It's not nearly good enough to justify the price, and I was severely disappointed. The cocktails were great, but I was physically uncomfortable, bathed in noise, and served mediocre food. I've given this review a great deal of thought. Usually, if the food and service are good, that's enough for a restaurant to earn a good rating from me, but at ~$100 a person before drinks Nobu has placed itself at the low end of an elite echelon of restaurants, and must be judged accordingly. Unfortunately, they have failed, as I will explain in detail, moving from relative strength to relative weakness. Drinks: 5/5 While not the best I have seen, the cocktail list is modern and creative, and every drink we had was expertly conceived and beautifully crafted. The $15 price tag is a reasonable price considering the menu and quality. They also have an extensive list of other spirits, though I am not competent to judge the wine and sake. Service: 5/5 The employees were cheerful and attentive. The service was efficient without being overbearing, hitting a perfect balance of attention and privacy. The food and drinks were served promptly, especially considering how busy it was on a Saturday night. Decor: 3/5 The decor was visually well designed and implemented, with perfect lighting and a cohesive feel. The color palette and visual textures were excellent, and it is a beautiful room to be in. However, the furnishings, namely the table and especially the chairs, were unforgivably cheap. Neither would have been out of place at a college dining hall, and the chairs were hard and fiercely uncomfortable after just a few minutes. The noise level was also not well controlled, with me barely being able to hear my companions. Granted, it was a busy Saturday night, but more could have been done in the design to account for the noise of peak meal times. Food: 2/5 This is, to me, the most important category, and is where I expected Nobu to excel. I am judging them harshly here, because at this price point the food must be perfect. The menu is excellent, with a wide variety of both creative and classic dishes. I was very excited about each item we ordered, and I was disappointed by each. It's not that the food was bad, it was fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared, but none of it was excellent. The sauces were acceptable, and the preparation competent, but the quality is of a level I expect, and almost universally find, at Japanese restaurants at a small fraction of the price. I am more than willing to part with $20-40 for an ounce of food, if that food is incredible, but it just wasn't. It might pass in other cities, but excellent seafood is a trademark of San Diego, and Nobu's food just isn't special here.
This is the worst sushi place I have ever been to. If you want to be insulted and humiliated and overcharged then go to this place. The service sucked. After I paid my bill and left the waiter chased after me telling me to come back and pay my bill I went back and showed him my recipient and left he came after me again now I am getting so pissed and asked for the manager and showed her my receipt she said ok no opologies nothing... now I am insulted and humiliated after I paid $89 for 6 pieces of salman and 6 pieces of tuna and a glass of Merlot. This is truly the worst place I have ever Been too and I eat out every night. After spending $89 I get insulted and humiliated and no oppology. Please do not go to this place it is the worst.
Decent but nothing special
One of my favorites. Also have a killer espresso martini
Nice place- particularly for a celebratory dinner. Everything during my visit was delicious and fresh. The menu has a great assortment of options, and the ambiance of the venue is very fun. I ordered multiple items that I never had previously, and nothing was unpleasant- I enjoyed everything.
We went here during the restaurant week event. Food is tasty, but the portion is small, the setting is a bit crowded, and the whole place is kind of noisy. Overall I don't think it justifies the price tag.
I mean I would eat here EVERYDAY if I could afford it. Every piece of fish in that place is top grade and super fresh. The way they display the food on the dishes is even drool-worthy. I always feel like a VIP here, with the posh decor and great service. LOVE IT.
it was okay. one in vegas is better
Came here for restaurant week and thoroughly enjoyed the experience! Everything was amazing! You'll love it!
Very tasty food, even for a non-fish eater. I loved hearts of palm appetizer, eggplant dish and beef tobanyaki. Martini was just ok - they didn't have traditional martini glasses and drinks weren't chilled. Prices were definitely fine-dining level high for small plates...and ambience was like that of a Cheesecake Factory. While service was totally adequate, it lacked the personalized touch and low ratio of waiters to guests you would expect when paying $75-$100 per person. Seating was booth style, no tablecloth.
The best restaurant I've ever been to and I've been to some of the best in the country. You have to have the Bluefin Toro and the Salmon Tataki.
Great and pricey!! Butter leaf and fish is top!
My favorite place in San Diego for sushi. So amazing.
Was here for a light dinner. Since I don't eat fish, I ordered veg rolls and a beef strew. Rolls were not detail enough, compare to cheap rolls , its only a bit better. Ginger and wasabi seems like only commercial item just like other inexpensive Japanese place. The beef, strew was ok, not special at all. I may be a bit picket since I live in NYC, were lot of nice Japanese restaurants. I did not order any expensive items here, those simple stuff were only mediocre, why should i waste my money for their signature stuffs. Their service were excellent from host, waiters to bus boy! Good job here! Just hope they can have better quality of food with better detail like a good authentic Japanese restaurant.
Amazing and fancy place.
Solid menu. A bit pricey. Good tasting sushi.
I’ve always wanted to try nobu, my boyfriend and i went on a double date with friends on Sunday night, overall the service and experience was amazing but i was very disappointed of the food and i loveeee sushi.
Nobu is excellent. We are talking about absolutely top notch sushi, some of the most creative and interesting main dishes, some succulent appetitzers, and some really super choice sake. A bit on the pricey side, but good food costs a little extra. Tip: go on Fridays when they have all night happy hour with some excellent selection choices provided. And being in the Hard Rock hotel, you get the option of 207 or Float nightclub options if you want more after you finish eating.
Great food and amazing service. Highly recommend going with a close group of friends and family.
Ok food
Duck on rocks from an oven was delicious. Seaweed salad is a really fresh take on a very simple dish. In general very impressed by their approach to the menu.
Really enjoyed our birthday dinner
I go every year around this time and tge servers are phenomenal! It's an expensive meal add its easy to spend $100+ a person, but so worth it.
Had a really good experience at this restaurant, server was real nice and food was delicious
Great food
de niro is trash
One of the best Japanese restaurants I've ever visited. Highly recommended.
Everything was beyond amazing so fresh and great flavors. The best mealmi had in a long time.
Great experience and service.
Great experience. Delicious food. The staff treated us really well and made sure we were never left waiting. Portion sizes were all small but tasted amazing. The Yellow Tail ceviche taco were incredible. Beautiful restaurant. Great beer. Excellent date place.
A great higher end sushi place. I enjoy going there for the omakaze, a multiple course meal of chef’s choices.
Absolutely my favorite restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was responsive and friendly!!
$350 for food & drinks for two people?!!! Tottaly worth every cent. This place has class & you will be looked after well. You'll feel real classy here like your famous. Live in the moment & try it once. Perfect place to take a woman on a date. They love feeling like a princess.
Good food, OK service. I think for this price point it should have been a notch higher. There are less expensive Michelin restaurants I would rather go to. That said, their menu selection was very good. I would lean towards three stars but there wasn't anything glaring that would pull it down a whole star, but my true review would be 3.5 stars.
This place is highly over rated! The food is average at best and way over priced. Too many staff members running around the dining room clearing plates from The tables, it was comical watching them run in to each other and in few instances the seated guests.
Very good food and service, though somewhat pricey
Excellent food and service. Presentation was well done. Very expensive. Glad someone else was paying.
Hadn't previously eaten here or even heard of the restuarant. Found it on TA and decided to give it a go. Was very impressed. There was a large variety on the menu from the basic to the innovative. Something for everyone. And it was all delicious. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. As this is a large, open space keep in mind that it can be quite loud, which is no big deal as long as you're expecting it.
I visited this place during Restaurant Week. Be in mind to make reservations, "the price is included for 2 people" but you share the plates. It's pretty expensive but it didn't ruin the experience for me. I was overall pleased by what offered. I'm not a big fan of raw fish or sushi, but the quality was excellent.
Stopped here for the first time with some friends. Amazing is all I can say.
Great atmosphere and creative dishes and drinks where one of a kind. Will definitely be back for more!
Nobu is incredible. Mind blowing exquisite flavor with every bite. My family looks forward to our dinner here on our annual trip to San Diego.
Teradito is my favorite...was smaller here than I remember compared to the one in Malibu. Black cod miso is one of their signature dishes and did not disappoint. Busy but was able to walk in on a Monday night with no reservations. Loud but was still able to make conversation with rest of table.
Tried some stuff I have never tried before and would never normally try and I did not regret it one bit. Some of the best tasting food I have ever had and it looks beautiful at the same time well worth the price for a very special occasion. I had the lamb the California roll and the king crab tacos and all were delicious.
While the food was wonderful, our server Mckenna truly made our first Nobu experience! She knew the menu and made the perfect recommendations for us, she was patient while we were a little slow at deciding, and was just a cheerful and wonderful person to be around. We came for our anniversary and she kindly made note and our dessert came out with a happy anniversary note written on it. She was very attentive and continuously checked in on us to make sure we were doing okay. McKenna has sincerely made our trip to San Diego (and of course Nobu) so much more enjoyable. We will definitely return and hope that we're lucky enough to have the same experience that McKenna has given us today!
Love Nobu. Cucumber salad is life.
Excellent food, and our waitress was fantastic!
Although the price is a little expensive, the food is very good. I love the original, unique dishes that the chef creates. The food is very delicious and it is obvious that it was made with the most fresh ingredients.
Good location and even better food.
This was an amazing bucket list experience. Masterfully, beautifully, and tastefully done!
Excellent location for tasty japanese food.
This place has kind of become a chain, which I should hate as a millennial, but I have to begrudgingly admit that it was pretty good.
Amazing place. If you are a fish lover these 2 dishes are a MUST HAVE - Black Cod Miso and Yellowtail Jalapeno. Service is top notch and very similar and consistent to other Nobu's.

The best susi ever
I loved most dishes and just the aji kanpachi dish was worth the visit. But I think they can improve their sushi rice. I was planning on having more sushi but I couldn’t stand the sushi rice so I didn’t (I’m Japanese so I might have a higher expectation for sushi than most people). Also the salmon egg was very salty and didn’t taste fresh (I’m not sure if it’s real). For authentic sushi, I would recommend Taka that’s down the street. Everything that wasn’t sushi was good.
Great location. Service was good. sushi was okay. prices were ridiculous. I see these reviews with "elegant". I ordered a salmon roll and it was ground up fish. I wouldn't call that elegant. Much better places in the area.
Not my best Nobu but quite good. Still really expensive but the tastes available there worth it. Mostly.
My favorite place for dinner in San Diego.
Excellent service and food. The steaks cooked just right and the service are impeccable. Save room for deserts of you can.
Delicious, fresh. Great customer service.
Food is perfect and our server Joe was very efficient and courteous.
Extremely disappointing. Felt really rushed and I've had so much better sushi in much less expensive places. ALL SHOW!
Great food and service, but wayyyyy overpriced. Like come on.
Nobu is great. I'd never been to the San Diego one but food didn't disappoint. Took my friend out and his family for a nice dinner after his graduation and we had an amazing time. Ordered some Sake, which was smooth and tasteful. I personally ordered Fish and Chips Nobu style which I loved. My friend ordered the Black Cod and said he'd definitely order it again. We also ordered matcha ice cream for dessert, I totally recommend it. Atmosphere was really loud, had trouble hearing people at our own table. Restaurant needs some acoustic upgrades. Maybe some foam under the tables to mute the sound. Service wasn't great, difficult to get a hold of a waiter passing by. I really wish they had those buttons on the table where you can request your waiter to come to the table. It's such an expensive restaurant to not have that type of feature.
Food here is impeccable. We got the sushi and the options were fantastic. Definitely be ready to spend! Easy gas lamp location and nice interior decor.
Fresh local uni brought in daily - incredible, delicious, and worth it. Sad I can't go more often.
Just like all nobu locations around the world-amazing
Great food, but pricey.
Fantastic service... just a great night!
The food was great and the place had exiting energy. I felt like they were trying to rush us through dinner.
We ate the omake taster course. Very good.
Great food. Service was excellent too.
great and fresh sea-food as always at Nobu, excellent service!
Wow!!! The service was amazing, out waiter picked our plates and they where all amazing. Very highly recommend. This was by far the most professional place I have been to and just a fun place to have dinner.
An absolutely incredible meal, impeccable service. Fabulous!
Seriously the best sushi I've ever had in my life. My wife and I went all out here and were completely blown away by the experience. Everything we ate was mind blowing!!!
The freshest sushi you'll find in San Diego. Meals here are light and delicious. I generally avoid the Wagyu which is really pricey ($120 for 4 oz). The rest of the menu is more reasonably priced for a nice dinner out. Service is a little slow so only make reservations if you have the time to spare. Reservations are a must if you want to get in for dinner.
Excellent food!
Best restaurant I have even been too, it's a expensive restaurant but well worth the price for it. The food is all really good and is a great place to try new dishes. The staff was excellent and very detailed on any questions you may have!
Enjoyed the facility. Service was good as was the food. Small cute place the smallness of it makes the place warm and welcoming. Food was very true what you would like in a good Italian restaurant. Look forward to going back,
Wow what an amazing dinner. The best I've ever had. A must try if you like sushi.
Food gross at best Dirty
What more can you say. It's Nobu! Always fantastic.
This is my first time at any Nobu location. I came in expecting to pay a high price for high quality food. The high price was their but I wasn’t that impressed with the food. Given the price point I would rather eat elsewhere. The restaurant has a night club feel to it and is a good place for people watching. Food: 3.5 star Atmosphere/service: 4 stars Value: 1.5 stars I particularly found the sushi to be pretty mediocre and is really not worth the price. I also had the scallops with Brussels sprouts, which was a tasty dish. The sauce that accounting had a nice acidity to it and I enjoyed the finitely chopped accompaniments. However, the scallops needed more of a sear. They were good but not cooked properly.
Wow. Amazing food. Asked for the chef's choice and just to keep it coming. The salmon was like none I've tasted before, melted in my mouth. The sauces that came with each dish I could've finished with a straw. If you want great sushi, this is the spot. Expensive, but worth it.
Great staff they did not let a empty plate or glass sit on the table very long at all ! Food was amazing as always. I have been to the one in Vegas and now San Diego. Loved them both.
Best restaurant I have even been too, it's a expensive restaurant but well worth the price for it. The food is all really good and is a great place to try new dishes. The staff was excellent and very detailed on any questions you may have!
Nobu never disappoints... Their food is great, the drinks are amazing, and their service is on point. It does get packed, so I recommend making a reservation before you go. Food wise, I've tried different things and they were all good in my opinion (mostly tried their "cold dishes" and only tried the Black Cod from their "hot dishes" menu). Their martinis are very tasty as well. This place is our place to go for celebrating big events like birthdays and anniversaries. Will come back again and again for sure. They also have a restaurant week menu (they had one for 2015 SD Restaurant Week) and it was GREAT!!
Overpriced for what it is. But it's good.
Enjoyed the facility. Service was good as was the food. Small cute place the smallness of it makes the place warm and welcoming. Food was very true what you would like in a good Italian restaurant. Look forward to going back,
Simply awesome food! Everything we ordered was amazing.. must try if you’re in San Diego!
Horrible food expensive prices
Extremely underwhelmed! For the prices they charge, nothing lived up to my expectation. Starting with the bar that insisted we pay for our drink right then and there and did not allow us to put the tab on our table- have never experience this at a restaurant before. Next, the place is obnoxiously loud..There are quite a few tables in the 2 rooms it occupies, but the volume of human chatter makes it impossible to have a conversation with the person at your table. The service was excruciatingly slow..We opted for the restaurant week menu (which comes with 4 courses), and everything took 15 minutes each to get to us. Ruined our appetites. And finally, The food was very average. Nobu is a kind of a big deal, considered an institution, but other than a dish of crab lettuce cups we opted for, nothing really captured our fancy taste wise. Sushi and sashimi were pretty much comparable to any cheap strip mall sushi restaurant. Totally did not get our money's worth. I wouldn't recommend going here, it's not fine dine. Plenty of other good sushi places in the city.
Overall the place makes great sushi but nothing to write home about. The mixed drinks were really good (I recommend the ginger mojito) and ambiance was cool for a date setting. Don't get me wrong, the sushi is really good.... but not the best I've had.
Sooo good!
Great sushi. We had a great time. The staff really put on a great presentation and were very friendly and I never had to ask for water.
Possibly one of the finest Japanese meals I've ever had. Not sure how much it cost though, a vendor paid for a special 6 course meal for us.
Still very solid but, still overrated
Food is great but overpriced. Service is correct, following the SD mood. 4 ½ stars
One star because of the clown that has ownership of this place. A hateful little old man called Robert. It’s sad I really enjoyed this place until his recent rant against the president.
Delicious seafood, I loved my brussels sprouts, spicy edamame, black cod...I called it Wakanda Cod, lol. The chocolate lava cake with green tea ice cream was banging too. Great servers!!!
Nobu is amazing. Went for work and had a group dinner. Tuna tataki was great. The heat was good. Braised beef was also very good. Had a huge sushi platter which was also great. The desert was a nice banana egg roll esentially, but it too was delicious. Overall an amazing place. I have no idea what the bill was, but there place is known to be pricey.
Great place for a special birthday!
My wife and I came for restaurant week. We had to ask for the RW menu which was not what we normally experience at other restaurants. The process is you have to pick the same meals and split each one for $100. The starter was a yellow fin tuna which was the highlight of the meal. We then had another tuna which was covered with a lettuce and also good but it great. We then had the steak which was good but also not great. We had ice cream for dessert which was also okay. The wine is expensive but good quality. The restaurant is loud and parking is impossible so I recommend valet.
Excellent ambiance ..I loved so much ..
The black cod is one of the best things I've ever eaten.
The best service and the manager was so attentive!
Excellent scene for japanese food. Came here on a Saturday. The service here is attentive.
Second to none! The food was Excellent! The service was excellent! Highly recommend.
Blackened cod is mind blowing
My fav place for Japanese food. I love this place, great food & service.
AMAZING!!! Came in for dinner. The atmosphere was perfect and we had a corner table and we were able to observe the restaurant. This place is tasty. I can’t even tell you the names of everything we ordered but there was not a bad item on our table. If you are a sushi lover and are in the Gaslamp area of San Diego don’t even bother trying one of the many other places, just go to NOBU you will have no regrets.
It was amazing ! Went for my daughters B-Day, it was perfect!!
We loved our dinner. Niles decided for us and really made a difference. Best dinner in San Diego so far.
I walked in here expecting fantastic food and service based on all the reviews I'd seen, but was definitively disappointed on most counts. Service: The service seemed disconnected. We received the first drink (one of two we ordered) after five minutes (fantastic) but had to wait another ten for the second. Similarly, we waited for 25 minutes between two dishes we ordered as the main course. This made no sense at all. Food: The Yellowtail sashimi with jalapeno was absolutely delicious. The salmon and avocado roll, which took about 25 minutes after the yellowtail to arrive, was about 30% salmon, 70% avocado wrapped in undercooked rice. We left after what we saw, and ended up actually filling our stomachs at a burger place a block ahead. Not sure if this day was an aberration, but from my experience this place is overrated.
Addison is my fav. Taste menu changed seasonal . You won't be bored. I would recommend you to give a try
The waiters was really nice and helpful. The food was ok but we enjoyed ourselves despite that it was a cramp with a lot of people.
Our group of 4 was craving some Japanese food, so we gave this place a try. When we arrived, the staff were very welcoming and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. When we sat down to eat, the Waiter came over and began discussing the menu options with us. We told him were all pretty hungry. He then told us all dishes (hot and cold) were designed to be "shared". From our experience, "shared" meant bigger portions. We asked to confirm; "Are the portions larger?". He replied; "Yes. Each entrée should easily feed 2 adults". That was nice because the prices were more expensive. For example, most plates (hot entrees) were over $30 and that's for one entrée. Needless to say, when the plates arrived, they were absolutely tiny portions. For example; we ordered scallops. When the plate arrived, it had 4 medium sized scallops. I was shocked because it was such a small portion that it would have barely suited me as an appetizer, yet it's supposed to be a "shared" entrée! When the second entrée arrived, it was just as tiny. We asked the Waiter; "Didn't you say the portions here are shared, thus larger? These entrées will hardly feed one of us!" Keep in mind, I'm a medium sized person and I was eating with 3 petite females. He shrugged his shoulders and gave us a look like he didn't know what to say. He then attempted to encourage us to keep ordering. Had we agreed to, what felt like an endless sales pitch, we would have spent somewhere between $400-500 for a normal dinner. While the food we ate did taste great, it did not arise to the expectation the Waiter set when we sat down. We told him, we wanted the check and left. After ordering 4 small sushi rolls and 2 tiny entrees, we paid almost $118, then went to a Thai place up the street and ate a full course meal (for four) and left well under $100 (after tip). With such circumstances, we felt Nobu was grossly over priced with a sales pitch to match. We actually joked about it for the rest of our stay. Our tag line turned into "Nobu. Lot of money for NoFu."
Nice ambiance, but price is way out of the cost benefit range. I didn't see any "anchor food" to make me go back
Nice looking and tasting food but pricy.
Wow what an amazing dinner. The best I've ever had. A must try if you like sushi.
