Excellent meal. I enjoyed all three courses. I'm sure everything on the menu is awesome so you cannot go wrong.

Katherine Sun

La Mar is a place I would take out of town friends for a nice meal with great views of the bay (from their outdoor patio). Their seafood dishes are so delicious and fresh! If you're here on Saturdays, the Ferry Building farmers market is just a couple steps away as well.

Jennifer Sturr

Horrible experience. My friend and I stopped in for a drink at happy hour and then decided to leave. We Mia communicates as we both thought the other paid for the drink. The female bartender with short brown hair and a heavy Latin accent screamed at us as we left. We came back in to pay and she continued to scream at us and threw the $6.50 bill at me. Never go there. Terrible service and even worse people behind the bar. Any establishment who employs anyone like that should be ashamed .

Jazmin Lujan

love their ceviche!! tried 3 different ceviche's and they were all amazing!!!

Karn Johal

Except for the price, everything was flawless... Perfectly seasoned and savory.

Miguel Taveras

Some of the best ceviche anywhere in the country. Eaten here many times and never had a bad bite.

Randi Gold

Good food and great happy hour!

Jody Brooks

Really unique sauces on light fresh seafood. Ceviche is as awesome as you'd expect for a Peruvian place. Nice bar area up front that serves food too. It looks out on the SF Embarcadero. The restaurant in back has windows looking out at the bay and a lively, colorful, atmosphere with super friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Day Walks

Test great and worth it. Suggest to order the mix type and you will get different taste.

jose reinoso

Always good at this place. Love the happy hour and the Pisco sours. Great atmosphere and good people

Davide Ceper

Spectacular Peruvian restaurant with large seating rooms (one internal overlooking the huge kitchen and one external protected for winter use as well) with sea-inspired decoration and colors and a very complete menu offering everything you wish for from one of the worlds best and yet least explored ethnic culinary traditions: from tiraditos to anticuchos, from ceviches to causas, without forgetting the truly inspiring "special of the day" (in our case the croquettes of shrimp and lobster), all of which splashed with fantastic Pisco sours, and complemented by fast, efficient and nice service. Don't miss it! Only issue: when large parties are around the dining room becomes extremely noisy for a conversation...

Angela Lang

The salmon was delicious. It was very flavorful and cooked perfectly. The salmon was served over lentils and a sauce that were also deliciously perfect. I was tempted to lick the plate when I was done!

Paola Martha

Went here with a friend. It was busy on a monday at 630pm. But friend made reservstions and we were seated quickly. The food: fresh and delicious we ordered the ceviche sampler, chicken empanadas and beef empanadas and two alcoholic beverages. The outside views, amazing. I just didnt like the seating arrangement. I kept on having to tuck my seat in for servers and patrons to pass behind me. The spicy salsa, to my expectations, super spicy and I loved every drop of it. The flavors were on point and the servers were friendly and kept it real, which I appreciate it. I love when I can be myself and people get it.

Doris Yunda

Upscale Peruvian food right by the pier. The food is fantastic! I recommend to make reservations and ask a table with ocean view. We ordered the sea experience for 2 comes with a total of 10 dishes. The executive chef Victoriano Lopez is extremely talented. Loved this restaurant!

alex jellison

Highly recommend this place has best view and the food was out of this world

Glen Baxter

First time at this Peru restaurant-bar. Busy, lots of chit-chat... Peruanos original food, I went their while waiting 4 the Hornblower. Service was great, right on the Embarcadero. Happy hours, from 3-6PM

Roderick Tizol

Loved it.. very cool cocktails as well

Nicole Arellano

I had the BEST experience here. AMAZING PERUVIAN food! My parents are Peruvian and I’ve been to Peru 3 times. The food is top quality and tastes authentic!! We went with my colleagues and they loved it as well for their first time! Try the llomo saltado and ceviche is a must!

Frances Rapoport

Very different interesting food, setting was pleasant.

Erica Suhonos

Food was great and atmosphere was as well. Not giving 5 stars because they "lost" my reservation. I called and spoke with someone over the phone, as I had a party that was greater than 4 people so I couldnt do it online. Got confirmation from the woman on the other end of the phone that I was confirmed on the correct date at the correct time, but when we got to the restaurant they had no record of our party anywhere. Maybe they need to reeducate the staff on putting in reservations? Unsure, but they were luckily able to reseat us with only a little wait. Moral here: double check your rezy here!!

Anthony Reaves

Delicious food with large portion sizes.

artie wilsdorf

This place is absolutely delicious amazing amazing Food great cocktails I really do recommend trying everything on the menu. The octopus was delicious this ceviche was very good. And to top it off I hostess named Paola

Ian Leader

Excellent ceviche, pisco sour and dessert. Disappointed by the beef dish.

Wee Choeng Chong

Love it...fantastic menu and there is a lot of variety to choose. Definitely will return if I come to San Francisco again.

John Eubank

If you come to San Fran, try the seafood, right? Cebiche is a whole new world of flavours, and La Mar Cebicheria is a great intro - next stop Lima. The catch of the day made for a great cebiche mixto but the icing on the cake was the causa nikkei .... yummmm.

Joe Seivertson

Civilized space amongst many faster food establishments. Good variety of menu offerings plus full bar. Outdoor bayside seating is a real treat on weather permitting days.

Matthew Gudenius

Love this place. This is actually my third time here — twice for happy hour at the bar, once for a big celebratory lunch. It has been awesome every time: nice atmosphere, great drinks (and good prices on cocktails at happy hour!), very tasty ceviche and empanadas and more.

May Bresler Herzog

Great restaurant, the food is colorful, spiced and bursting with flavor. There's a lot of verity, even if you're looking for something other than seafood. Expensive, as most restaurants on the pier are, but it's worth it. Highly recommended!

We were walking by and just decided to pop in. Great decision. We sat at the bar and got a great bartender, Perry, who described this unusual drink list to us. We all tried different ones and they were all excellent. I got the Pisco Sour which I loved. The other three drinks were great as well. Ordered our second round and the Smokey Barrel was our favourite. We then ordered the Cebiche Tasting and the Limena Causa. Both were unbelievable. We all were highly pleased to have dropped in here. Go check it out.

Christophe Diot

Excellent fish and wines. Excellent food in general and very good service. Very expensive though.

Taras Zommers

A pricy option but the food is excellent. Delicious and nicely plated. Service was friendly and attentive.

Ana Sofía Lanczyner

Delicious food, great service and amazing location! The only down side is that they have very limited and old restrooms.

Steve Elliott

Great ceviche and other Peruvian favorites right on the water. Good vibe and a nice spot for drinks too. Bar up front.

Eat Go See

IG: eatgosee It is important for me to start this review with an acknowledgement that I was here for business in a very large group. Why is that important? Well to be honest I fully appreciate that cooking to a large number of people (possibly 200+) means that you do not get the same type of menu as well as attention to detail on individual items as I would expect for an à la cart dining experience. The canapés that circled around the venue from the waiters were enjoyable especially the seared salmon nigiri and the meaty crunchy empanadas with herbaceous spicy dips. These are an early indication that the food here was going to be enjoyable. Moreover, the pisco sour is was strong and a generous Phil. However they were perhaps a touch too sour and could do with a little more balance of sweetness through passionfruit or a hint of syrup. To be honest through the menu was not very clear that this was a Peruvian restaurant. I would rather come back here for the à la cart menu to get a better sense of what the kitchen is capable of. The quinoa salad, roasted chicken and other options were nice but not particularly special and certainly not an indication that this is a self-described fine dining restaurant.

Mariela Sandoval

Great location, music, service from wait staff (hi to the mexican waiters) and food. All was perfect for us.

Matthew Cooper

Massive and beautiful spot. The ceviche are perfect and come in many varieties. Sit with a view of the water if you can.

Dennis Li

Pretty good, the second best Peruvian restaurant I've ever been too. As you might expect from a restaurant on San Francisco's pier, it's fairly expensive. The portions are not very large either, so expect to spend a bit. I was looking for a nice octopus dish like one I had at a Peruvian place before but when I went there was only one octopus side dish and it was okay. They served a very nice lamb though, in what was sort of like a spicy curry. The pisco sour and service were top notch as well. Overall, the place is worth visiting if you're craving or interested in trying out some Peruvian food.

Erin Norton

One of my favorite places in SF! But this last visit there were no plantain chips!! Good cocktails, delicious wines and yummy food.

Javier Guzman

This place is legit awesome. A definite culinary experience, Peruvian style. If you are new to this style of food, go with the "Experiencia La Mar", which is a bit of everything in a 4 course meal. Includes some different styles of cebiches (which normally is raw fish that's been marinating in a lime infused bath, with onions, corn, sweet potatoes and chilies), a few styles of anticuchos (marinated beef heart, barbequed to perfection), a few entrees (lomo saltado, arroz con pato, scallops with tacu tacu), AND dessert! A little pricey, but WELL worth the money. Ask to sit outside if you can. A gorgeous view, excellent food, and outstanding service (thanks, Katrina! You rule!) make this a MUST stop while in SF.

Edward O'Beirne

Superb service, excellent fresh ingredients, pricy. Unique and delicious cebiche, presumably legit Peruvian style. Really great, perhaps a bit narrow in the diversity between the three dishes I ordered, but that could just be my choices. Service by Katrina and others was truly the best that I’ve had. The real estate is top notch which I’m sure contributes to my last point. $120 for lunch for one person, 2 beers, 3 plates, and tip kind of stings!

Fredi Moehl

Great food, great service, but very loud

Hichem BEN MARZOUG

Amazing place, with beautiful view and amazing service.

Dmitry Barinov

Awesome ceviche, great meat dishes. Highly recommended.

Hunter Little

Great lunch on the patio with nice international wine selection. Our server Matteo was on top of service and killed it at out table. From being in the hospitality industry myself I truly appreciate the small touches of service. Thanks for a great time!

Morgana Q

You can't go wrong there. Everything tastes great. Great atmosphere, architecture & food. Not cheap but not crazy expensive. Wine was great with fresh sea food. Recommended to a first date, bday party, girl's night out, actually anything.

Michael Andersen

Fantastic food and excellent service. Will definitely go back and recommend.

Sang Lee

If you're a tourist... Must go. If you're local, I'm sure you can find a better place to plunk down your money. Go for sure if you're going for a work thing...

Andre Fournier

Great atmosphere and fresh flavorful seafood.

Eric Cantor

Not advertised but it is a Tapas style restaurant. Portions are small. The food is good, but expensive. I had a piece of black nylon string in my rice dish. The server apologized, but that was it. Seems like manager or the kitchen should have explained better.

Barry Sutherland

Clasico cebiche and pisco sour were just what I was looking for. Bartender took great care of me.

Mathew Tizard

Food was zingy and delicious. Service was great too.

Kevin Renner

Excellent seafood, convenient location, fast service

Nick Denissen

great ceviche obviously, bar was great for a group of conference-goers -- separate checks without a problem

david

Love the food and service is exceptional. They really know how to treat their guests. Will definitely come back to this place.

Cory T

Phenomenal service. Decadent food. Delicious drinks. 6 out of 5.

Tammy Georges

Fabulous drinks, wonderful bartender that was very educated about all of the wonderful whiskeys the bar had! Great suggestions! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Erik F

Great ambiance, food selection, and service. A destination seafood spot in SF-

Miguel Cardenas

Some dishes are super delicious and some very disappoint it. I was looking forward to eat the Classic cebiche and it let me down on flavor. I think the sheft must confuse or over add any ingridientes. Anticuchos red salsa was not delicious as the classic one they use in Peru which contains Rocoto molido with green onions. Instead they had another red salsa that wasnt to good. Very disapointed with the restroom cleanings, especially that is a high start restaurant . Octopus a la Casuela was deliocus, Cebiche al aji amarillo was delicious, anticuchos meet was to tick, prefer the regular sizes as Peru. Complementary chips and green salsa really delicious. Very disappointed with the waitress. No to helpfull about the dishes and confused 2 plates that with end up paying and we disnt order. 3 start because some of the delicious food I was waiting more for Gaston Acurio restaurant. :(.

Rafael ortiz

This restaurant is very large and well decorated, serving exquisite Peruvian food. The drinks are very good, you need to make a reservation and book a table overlooking the bay of San Francisco. The attention of the waiters is great.

Alana Dreimann

Absolutely fabulous restaurant! Especially during the day as the light in the restaurant is beautiful. Great ambiance inside and out, wonderful wait staff, and some of the best seafood in the city! Right on the water by the Ferry Building, this is a very large restaurant. They specialize in Peruvian seafood and everything you’ll order will be surprisingly even more delicious then it sounded on the menu. It has the freshest ingredients and truly creative ways of mixing flavors to give you an unparalleled culinary experience. If you still have room in your belly after this meal, be sure to check out their desserts as they too are exquisite!

Ralph Torrance

La Mer felt very much a business dinner type place. It is in a fantastic location, however the food and service while not bad didn't blow us away! Now this might have been our expectation was high, we all love Peruvian food, particularly Coya and Lima in London, so was a little disappointed with the ceviche which although tasty was more like sashimi size pieces of fish. The empanadas were outstanding. The skewers where meh! The beef heart skewer just tasted, well it actually didn't taste of anything! The server and the lady bussing the table were really pleasant and I would have given a 4 star if it hadn't been for the senior guy reprimanding the lady bussing the table right next to us for something that we hadn't even noticed or commented on. In fact she was very polite and helpful. Please coach/reprimand your staff away from table and preferable not in earshot of the diners! I wouldn't recommend La Mer, the food is okay, service okay and it is not cheap!

Cassidy Turner

Outstanding place for quality Peruvian food. everyone at our table was quite pleased. this place has an awesome atmosphere.

Stephanie Bell

Great food and drinks! The staff was also super friendly and gave great tips on navigating the menu

Rosaura March

Sat at the bar ignored for 15min walked out wow what a difference from the last time I had dinner. I guess when it's happy hour it's a different story from when you are spending $$$ for dinner

Beck Marquis

This is a busy, popular restaurant in the Embarcadero area. We visited around lunchtime and were fortunate to get a table without reservations. However, within a few minutes the place was packed. Our server was good and attentive, but quite busy, what with the place being full. The menu lists a number of Peruvian classics, which are well prepared and nicely presented. Go for the Ceviches: they originate from Peru and this place makes them like the original dish. The anticuchos are also delicious and of course, every fish listed on the menu is a good choice. While the wine list is good, it focuses on local wines, and to my surprise, there was not a single Peruvian wine listed. Actually Peru is producing nice wines, especially reds. The desserts were lovely, dramatically presented. Try the Tres Leches (Peruvian style) and the Suspiro Loco, a classic from Lima.

BF P

Good value lunchtime three-course deal with bay views.

Nick Yu

We love the tiradito a little more than the cebiche. Very nice bay side patio.

Kimberly

Great service, great food and drinks. I highly recommend this place.

Steve Hendry

Food was great, and service was top notch.

Kashmira Badiyani

This is a great place to go for dinner with friends and family. Good selection of foods, drinks. The view is stunning. The ambience is lively and fun. The decor is tasteful with colorful turquoise seating with some throw pillows giving it a very laid back vibe. Reservation in advance is recommended.

Anupam Modi

Good ambience, just don't go with any allergies as despite you telling them about it.... They aren't the most careful and deny it later

MF Outdoors

Stopped in for Cocktails and dessert. Upscale Latin restaurant that is primarily a bar with high top tables, bar seating and a couple of regular tables. They have one television that was playing the Golden State warriors game. With lots of local watching. Our drinks and dessert were delicious. The service was great. Keep up the good work La Mar.

Daniel Gonzales

Everything was excellent, I would recommend every dish I had (and the happy hour pricing is great). My only complaint is that two food items we ordered were 'upgraded' without our request (adding pulpo to the anticuchos and the tiridatos sampler instead of the specific one we wanted) Luckily we were only charged for one of the 'upgrades.' The honest truth is that both of them were excellent, but I spent the entire dinner concerned that we were spending at least $55 more than we had thought... I will definitely return, but probably just for happy hour.

Iryna Bulgakova

Great place for a stop by on your promenade. Had really good drinks in here. Bartender Omar took a good care of us, described how the drink would taste like, listened to our preferences on a taste of it, gave us some samples and actually suggested the perfect ones. Complementary snacks. Really cheered us up on a rainy day!!!!

Egle Salominaite

Great service and great food!

karen s

Peruvian food on the Embarcadero. Cebiches, empanadas, cocktails, and seafood plates are great. My least favorite is the lomo saltado, which is expensive with just a few pieces of meat, mainly large chunks of stir-fried onions

Wynton Yu

Came here for a company dinner and family birthday event. The atmosphere is brilliant on a busy evening, especially as the sun sets on SF and the Embarcadero lights up. The restaurant is bustling and creates a prefect mood for celebrations. Outside seating is available as well, but SF is pretty windy and cold so I wouldn't sit out there. Service is standard, no complaints there- but can slow since it's a big and busy restaurant. If you've never been exposed to Peruvian cuisine like me and is wondering what the heck is a ceviche. Then this might help you: it's a seafood dish that uses fresh ingredients and vegetables that look and taste amazing. If raw seafood isn't your thing, then they have cooked items as well- but the star really is their seafood. We decided on EXPERIENCIA La Mar ($70 per person), the big box in the middle of the menu because we didn't really know what to get and so this basically samples everything. Each dish is colorful and uniquely flavored- except for the beef hearts, which I found bland and chewy. The beef empanadas were delicious, but 2 small ones at $15 isn't worth it. The whole meal was surprisingly filling and I was in a food coma come dessert. On the Birthday celebration, I asked for something akin to birthday cake and the waitress, Lucy- pointed me to the tres de leche and my little sister was not disappointed. If you like good food, views, and service- then you'll like La Mar.

Kiran Murthy

Never disappointed at this restaurant. The food, the service and ambiance is all top notch

Anil Pannikkat

Had happy hour Peruvian Drinks which were pretty good. Bartender was friendly.

Riki Lam

Fantastic tapas. Loved the fresh and juicy seafood.

Lianne Stewart

Delicious drinks!!! I had a whiskey sour. The squid ink tempura appetizer was fabulous!!

Stephen Fogle

First time trying Peruvian food. Was not disappointed.

Rebecca Ray

Great birthday dinner for my husband! Also great place for kids.... Our 8month old did great here!

Emma Morley

Well, our server forgot about us for a while. When we finally flagged someone down it took another 10 minutes to get a server over to us. He refilled our drinks (which had been empty for at least 20 minutes) before bringing us the menu. The food was great. Please respect your customers even if they appear younger. I may look younger (I'm in my mid twenties), but if I want to drop close to $200 on lunch with my friend that I haven't seen in a long time, I should be able to do that without having to stand up and flag down a waiter.

Bill Augsburger

Tasty and original but sorta pricey, guess u pay for the location.

Linda Bartlett

The food was so unique and tasty. Great find. We will definitely go back

Kay Bee

I love this place! Came here for a birthday dinner. The service was impeccable. They had a wide range of cocktails, wine, beer and some mocktails. Of course, I had to start with a pisco sour. You can order a s ampler of the causa, ceviche and empanadas. We also ordered lomo saltado, purple cauliflower, and arroz la mar (seafood paella). Our favorite was the tuna causa (mashed potato) but the crab causa on top of purple mashed potato was a close second. The vegetarian but of the group thought that the mushroom empanada was yummy. The lomo saltado was delish. The meat cooked just right. Though I thought that they could have given more rice than a teeny bowl but that's just me. The biggest hit of the night though was the arroz la mar. We also had a pescatarian so they cooked the fish sausage on the side. For dessert we had the gelato and the tres leche.

Seretha Sherrod

Absolutely loved the ambiance and floral decor. We had an amazing bartender named Christian who paired a perfect El Cholitos with the Jalapeno Black Bean Aioli. We will definitely be back for the full Peruana experience.

Jun Wang

Went there on a sunny relaxed Sunday, enjoyed food especially the seafood rice! Want to go again!

Cassandra Lopshire

The stars are for the food only, I’d give it 5 stars because the food is for sure 5 stars. The staff though is rough. Go in for great food and expect nothing else. The servers aren’t the kindest of people (snobby). Back to food though, oh my gosh so fantastic!! We only tried the ceviche sampler and the empanadas sampler. Both wonderful we would have tried more but lunch had ended and they only had one item on the menu and decided we’d come back at another time. We did take two orders of empanadas home (chicken and corn). Reheating then in the oven works great and they still tasted amazing! We will for sure be back for the FOOD. So if your looking for really good Peruvian food try out this place you will not be disappointed. The purple corn drink (can’t remember the name) is also so yummy.

Reginice Coleman

Exceptional service and the food...let’s just say foodgasm! Christian was the lead host for a group of about 25 that my company was hosting. He timed the welcome cocktails just right and tended to the needs of the party. Christian and crew made everything run smoothly. This restaurant is great for corporate events! The cocktails were yum! Pisco sours were on point, but the El Cholitos(jalapeño cocktail) were my favorite and complimented the jalapeño black mint dip very well. I’m actually craving the dip just writing about it.

Laura & Jorge Cabrera

Good tasting. A bit expensive.

Danni Join

Overall: Great view and service. I think this place would be best for drinks and heavy apps with your co-workers or a date. Also, it's not super touristy - I was worried about that before going! Location: The location is beautiful, right on the water. The main room has high ceiling and windows lining the waterfront. There was a private event on the patio, but I would definitely check this out next time! Service: I can't say anything negative about the service. Our waiter was very attentive, the bus boy was always filling out water glasses, and the manager checked in on us. We ordered one dish that was a bit too spicy for our liking -- the manager came over and asked us about our meal and if anything was wrong. When the bill came, the manager told us that he took care of the one dish. Very unexpected but impeccable service!! Food: My friend and I weren't starving, so we only ordered a few things. We first got the nikkei cebiche- the cut of fish was fresh, it was nicely flavored, and it was balanced taste-wise. Highly recommend (and one of the best value menu it's for the quality). We also ordered las roquitas- they were just as beautiful as the picture on yelp. Very fresh and I know a lot of time going into making them, but I think they were a bit over priced ($29 for 5 shrimp...and one was pretty small). If you aren't worried about cost, though, I'd recommend them. Lastly, we ordered the plancha veggie - this was the dish that was pretty spicy. It also was a ton of food!

Abbie Leigh

Wonderful place on the water. Great service and fresh seafood. Lovely for a work gathering or after work happy hour. Top notch Peruvian food.

Jillian Anthony

Amazing food and atmosphere!! My group tried a lot of dishes and all of them were incredible, great flavor and good portions. Highly recommend the ceviche and the chocolate mousse!

Mike Torgerson

Amazing dining experience. Waitress was refreshingly competent and expertly guided us to a near perfect meal. Attentive staff, excellent food, beautiful restaurant. We got there after dark so not much of a view but the back dining room is right on fhe water .

Julian Braham

Wow...this is an amazing restaurant, the food, the atmosphere everything is just perfect here. I took the tasting menu, which was filling and crazy tasty. The salsa music in the background added to the overall atmosphere.

Maxim Bondar

Loved it! Delicious, excellent service and unique atmosphere! Loved the food and the view. Highly recommended!

Jenn Liang-Chaboud

Favorite restaurant in the area. Fresh seafood, everything is delicious.

Samantha Lau

Wonderful and fresh seafood. Enjoy the view from outdoor seating as well

Marco Preciado

It should have four or five $$$$$... Be aware to have extremely small portions. Really good but not worth the price.

Binu Varghese

Great Peruvian food. Ceviche is good here.

Robert Reinhold

Great Peruvian food, friendly service, and nice outdoor seating in the water.

Matt Swallow

A posh and cultured dining experience. The staff was very cordial and helpful, and the food was outstanding!

Teddy Oberts

Food is GREAT but expensive and fees like a chain

William Escobar

Nice place and ambiance...food was awesome, so far best Peruvian I had tasted

Andrea Henrique Serafim

Good food, expensive. Nice for couples or singles to hang out. Great view. Not good for families with small children.

Myke

Amazing Peruvian food. I go each time I’m in town. Hellllaaa expensive but really great food. I’ve been a few times now, each time is just as good as the last. I forget the purple drink name, something about corn maybe, but it’s so yummy. It’s hard to get a reservation but with enough advance you get get in. They also take walk ins and out you at the bar which is just as great for us since it’s the same food.

Анастасия Курилик

Absolutely loved the place! Very tasty ceviche, empanadas and octopus were to die for! Friendly and attentive staff ready to help you with the choice!

Ben

One of the best Peruvian places I've ever been to. High end location and setting, with relatively affordable prices, the waiters are very quick and helpful and lastly the food is delicious. I'd highly recommend the place, and try to get a table on the patio to get amazing views of the bay bridge.

Jayla Green

For the first time I had a pisco sour, made with egg whites. It reminds me of a margarita in a way, but thicker and not as refreshing.

Hamza Ibrahimi

Awesome bar and the Lomo Saltado was delicious

Larry T

Where do I start, this was recommended by a waitress from a different restaurant we were at and she highly encouraged us to go and sure glad we listened , it a little upscale so expect that, but the menu is full of dishes and we were a party of 3 and we all ordered different meals and tried a little off each other's plate to begin the flavor is insane just so full so spices and your palate will love you for quite some time. Presentation of each plate was perfectly balanced and to top it all off you can look out to the Bay and enjoy the beautiful views, basically just go.

paolo moreira

IF THERE WAS 100⭐️ DEFINITELY I WOULD GIVE IT TO LA MAR!!!! I LOVED THE FOOD AND THE ATMOSPHERE. AMAZING DISHES WITH UNIQUE AND AUTHENTIC FLAVORS. YOU WOULD NOT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH ANYTHING YOU CHOOSE FROM THE MENU ITS SPECTACULAR, BUT THE BEST WAS THE IMPECCABLE SERVICE GIVEN TO US BY CARLOS. WHAT A FRIENDLY AND WELCOMING PERSON HE IS. HE TOOK HIS TIME TO SUGGEST AND EXPLAIN THE FOOD WE ENDED UP ORDERING BECAUSE OF HIS GREAT KNOWLEDGE. DEFINITELY AN AMAZING RESTAURANT WITH A MAGICAL TOUCH OF DELICIOUS PERUVIAN GASTRONOMY. COME AND EXPERIENCE THE WAVES OF FLAVOR @ LA MAR...

Regulus Riddle

We spent our Valentine’s Day here and most things are fine. I liked the service and the environment. Except that when I called and made my reservation they told me if I came early as 5:15 I would definitely get the chance to sit outside by the sea. But when I actually came I realized it was reserved for IBM’s private event which partially ruined my expectation since I was expecting a really great view! And also just like every other restaurant Valenties Day meal was overpriced. Besides that, everything else was great. I would have give a three star but the waitress that helped us to take a photo was so nice that I changed my mind.

Jenny Huang

It is located around pier 3 and near ferry building. We ordered La gram bandeja as appetizer, which included oyster, crab and sashimi. Fish was really fresh. Great food! We sat outside by the waterfront, love the ambiance here.

Simon Donovan

I'm veggie and they have solid options. If you love sea food, this place is for you. If it's sunny, get a table on the patio and bring a sweater.

Gerald Hastie

This seafood is amazing here. Really love the ceviche. I recommend the sampler ceviche where you get the classic, micro, and negrito. The arroz del mar is fabulous. Last I love the drinks here. One of my favorite places in SF

Joe Cabezas

Well prepared food but not a restaurant for a foodie, way to small pieces

Jeff Zacuto

Way over priced. Not that great.

Richard Ikeda

Excellent Peruvian cuisine, highly recommended, outside seating available. Also has a separate bar.

S K

my friend and I went to this place. we ordered one portion. My friend who had some digestion issue could not orders the whole portion. I gave a bite of my food to my friend for tasting. when the waiter saw this he demanded to order 2 portion and remove away her utensils while she was tasting my food. NEVER IN MY LIFE I SAW THIS BEHAVIOR IN US Restaurants.

Andres Bejarano

The ceviche is out of this world. And the causa limeña is incredible. 5/5 excellent service.

Arthur Alexander Burger

Good Food and nice ambience. Ordered the Classico Cebiche and was pleasantly surprised with the portion.

Ruth Parker

Great service with great food! For an early lunch, we were seated immediately. The crab cocktail is delicious and the mint strawberry nojito is the right level of sweet and sour. For an entree, you can never go wrong with their clam chowder. This is usually my family's go-to place for Pier 39.

Tim Gonzalez-Martin

We had our Company Christmas Dinner here and it was the best experience we have had yet! Food (from Sushi to Empanadas, it's a fusion place) was incredible and wine selection was good within the price range. Couple of minor issues: table where we were seated was in a public access corridor. Cold air would bother some of the guests when someone opened the door to cross the room. Bathroom capacity was limited! Always a line for both. Neither issue overwhelmed the excellent food and attentive service.

Our party of 18 was over the top impressed with delicious food, impeccable service and attention to detail. Grilled octopus and all the ceviche are a must. We loved every moment here!! We will be back...

Perfect dining experience, a little noisy on the terrace, food and service excellent, don't leave anything in your car outside

They have a wide range of vegetarian options. Even wider options for non vegetarians. Many options in drinks, alcohol, mocktails etc. I really liked the ambience and service. The staff speaks english and spanish. The outside view is so relaxing and calm. We conduced a company event at this place and everything went fine.

Had dinner here with native Peruvian who ordered for us.. His selections were to die for. If they had one in LA, I world eat there weekly..

Food is good, however the Lomo Saltado was VERY salty. We couldn't finish the dish because we were dying of thirst after eating a few bites of the dish. Service was very good. They forgot about our dessert so they comped that piece. Host was pretty pushy about putting us in the sun.

This bright and vibrant Peruvian restaurant is full of life and flavor. Whether you sit at the bar area or sit in the main dinning room, you won't be disappointed by this gourmands delight. The selections of Peruvian spirits is great. They have beers, wines, and the hard stuff from Peru. The bartenders whip up amazing drinks with such detail and complexity in amazing speed and accuracy. The menu is seafood heaven of Peruvian preparations, but can be a bit intimidating to decipher. It might be a good idea to study the menu in advance and/or view pictures online to preselect what you plan on eating. The Peruvian ceviches , spelt cebiche are amazing. The fresh seafood preparations dazzle your taste buds with fresh zest, spice and a bit of heat. You just can't get enough. Try a Peruvian beer to go with your meal or wine if you are not a cocktail drinker. They are light yet flavorful as well as compliment the flavors of the food perfectly. Everyone was friendly, but it is rather busy, so you might not feel like you are being attended to. It is a busy place and everything they do is full of detail, so don't expect immediate service. Defiantly will return when visiting San Francisco again and will not hesitate to recommend this place a must try.

La Mar’s Peruvian cuisine - very good La Mar’s Service - not good. Inaccurate and limited. We shared an entire octopus entree between 3 people, enough to satisfy us deliciously. The server quoted it at $69 when he announced the specials, but final bill showed $79. My biggest critique is for the front bar. The bar staff didn't allow me to order a drink before happy hour ended at 6pm for a friend who was on her way. She arrived at 6:02pm. Their bar policy is not to serve more than one drink per person. I find this highly limiting and a turn off to customers. The bar wasn't busy on Monday evening, what did it hurt to add more drinks to the tab? It is HELPING YOUR BUSINESS. Generally, the food is good but this restaurant is WAY overpriced with unnecessary limitations. For a good Peruvian restaurant experience, go to FRESCA which has several SF locations.

Underrated happy hour in a gorgeous location. Sunny venue with a large center table that is good for groups. Expansive cocktail and spirits menu. Highly recommend the ceviche, though it is definitely spicy.

I went for a mix of sushi and ceviche and they were both nice. I'd say focus on the ceviche as it was tastier than the sushi at this place.

Very good Peruvian food. We got different sushi options as appetizers and then the full cow leg cooked very slowly, which was amazing. I've drunk a classical Chilcano and a Pisco Sour that was very good.
