Portions are huge. The omelets are really good. The prices are a little high at first glance but once you see the portions you realize why. Good food. The wait is super long over the weekends so be prepared to wait. Customer service is average.

Had brunch here after a few years and it was good as I remembered. Portions were generous and our server was attentive and helpful. I ordered the nutella crepes and I underestimated how big the serving was. I think this plate can be shared as it comes with three large, stuffed crepes oozing with nutella. They are also topped with a lot of whipped cream. Absolutely delicious!

Delicious! Extensive menu and huge portions. If everything is as good as the omelette my fiance and I shared we will be customers for life! We visited on a Saturday afternoon. There was ample parking and the wait to be seated was fairly short (in the interim we kept Our 2 year old entertained at the quarter machine which is a play till you win machine which he loved). Our server was top notch. We shared the California Omelette and got veggies added instead of ham. The food was delicious and we all shared that one plate. It was so much food!! We even interacted with a few older patrons who seemed to be regulars. The décor is warm and homey although a bit outdated but that didn't bother me one bit because the food was so good and a great price to fill us all up under $20! The pancakes were fluffy, the potatoes were a little bit crunchy on the outside and cooked well on the inside, and the omelette was cheesy and filled with so much deliciousness. Also the food came out in under five minutes. It was so fast, my mind was blown. We will definitely be back!

My favorite place for yummy breakfast from American to even Mexican dishes. They do also serve lunch and dinner at the National City location. My favorite are the swedish crepes, my husband ordered the beef chilaquiles with eggs and beans... both dishes were delicious. The servings are ridiculously large, each dish is shareable for a small fee. My family has been coming to the family house for decades, never disappointed.

Me and my family comes to Family House of Pancakes often. Overall really great food. The service is hit and miss. There’s usually a wait time averaging 30minutes. The serving staff assist each other with gathering drinks and anything additional. Food came out pretty quick. We ordered veggie omelet, one of the benefits with sausage gravy and scrambled eggs, and bean and cheese burrito. Large portions. The disappointment and they don’t have cheddar cheese they only use America.

Coffee and service were on point. Offering of extra napkins would have been nice. Filling of crepes was reminiscent of twinkes. Try and challenge your tasters with a more adult affair, rather than go for the non challenging “its breakfast, it’s sweet”. You have perfection in your sights FHoP, don’t sell yourselves short. I took the time to give you some insight. Follow the map! I will return. And I will not be disappointed! You have a fan. Fight for my 5 star.

A South Bay staple and family tradition for many San Diegans. The mushroom & cheese omelette was a feast fit for a very hungry dad and the "just right amount of sweet", chocolate pancakes were exactly what my princess wished they tasted like. Customer service reigns supreme at Family House in National City and much more roomier than the original Chula Vista location but make it a point to check out where it all began. (Side Note) Give yourself extra time arriving on weekends; there's usually a wait to be seated but very with it. Cheers!

We've been driving past this place for years, and we feel like complete boneheads for not coming here sooner. Portion sizes are literally unbelievable. I got the California omelet with homestyle potatoes. I have never seen so much food on one person's plate. I just sat there staring at it for a full minute. No one could eat all that. I ended up taking a pic with a jelly packet for reference, but it doesn't do it justice. Bring a friend, split an omelet. You'll still need a to-go box.

This restaurant is my kind of place. They serve great tasting food with generous portions at a reasonable price. The menu has a wide range of choices from breakfast to dinner. The service is fast and friendly. The proprietors Oscar and Linda are one of the most warmest and welcoming people you'll ever meet. My wife and I come for the food but always return for the people. If you haven't tried them give give them a visit and bring your appetite.

This place was great. Went on a Saturday morning, so it was quite busy, waited about 15 minutes for a table. We ordered an omelette and one of the specialty pancakes. Each plate was more than enough for two people. If you like large portion and enjoy going halfies with someone, this is your place to go. Will most certainly return to this place.

Forks down this is the best breakfast place to wake up to. I intentionally hold back eating prior to my breakfast and simply can never finish. I always order out, but today I decided to dine in. I walked in it was empty only a few customers. My son and I stood there waiting to be seated and was not greeted, but the group that walked in after me was greeted. I thought that was very rude. I did NOT feel like a valued customer

So I went to this place with my Mother's friends today so just was privy to the seniors menu. The menu is very simple and has some pretty good options. The food portions are a good size and will leave you asking for a box to take the rest home. I had the macaroni and cheese the first time I went here and it was pretty average Mac, honestly not all that good and that was all they gave you (literally). It is a big bowl but it could be better (also off the senior menu). This time though, I chose the spaghetti and meatballs. Very good choice! Very nice sized bowl of pasta! Very nice seasoning! Garlic bread came with it and that was also very tasty with just the right amount of buttery goodness. I topped the pasta with parmesan cheese and it was all good. I would definitely order it again!

This place has THE BEST OMELETTES! So huge! You can definitely share it with someone, they do offer sharing for $1 or $2. It’s definitely worth it instead of paying for two plates, both will be full and highly satisfied. I’ve never had bad service or bad food at the restaurant. I’m from Las Vegas but I come to San Diego a lot and when I come I make sure to stop by this restaurant. Yum!

How this place has never ended up on The Travel Channel or The Food Network, I will never understand. Yes, there's usually a wait, but in my experience, it's always worth it. The food usually arrives quickly after you order, the portions are huge, the servers are really nice. I like the blueberry waffles, but keep in mind they pile them on top instead of mixing it in the batter. Still, very good.

Great food with huge portions. Not the cheapest place to eat but you get more tham your money's worth. I have been going to Family House of Pancakes since I was a little boy. At the time there was only the Chula Vista location. Same amazing food there but it is so much smaller and cramped up. Enjoy this location a lot more. I have tried many different meals at both location and always delicious and very filling. We always have left overs after eating here. No doubt I'll be going back.

Excellent breakfast place for first time visitors to the area. Their selections have very generous and large portions so you leave satisfied and probably with left overs. However, as with any typical diner type restaurant the cleanliness of the location and bathrooms leave more to be desired. The service is overall decent, we did however have a rude moment with our seater, but the waitress staff was excellent. I would recommend for anyone who loves a great diner breakfast.
