A fav place for tasty Quality Meals. The staff was very sociable and kind.

jason jia

Went there as a solo traveler, but the food won't make you feel lonely.

Evan W. Xu

We had a great time here. Quality of the food wasn’t bad at all. Portion is small but enough for a light dinner. Good selections of wine.

Like Alinea and WD-50 elsewhere in the country, Coi (pronounced "qua") uses novel preparation techniques and unusual combinations of ingredients to stimulate the palate. These include foams, fluids sealed inside gelees, flash-frozen ingredients, and others. While not as on-the-edge in those techniques as, say, Alinea, Coi works closely with select local farmers and food providers and changes its menu to include those exceptional quality local foods. The service is warm, quite knowledgeable, and not at all subtle. Wine pairings are thought provoking, with some real bright spots -- but not as brilliantly iconoclastic as Alinea. If you can't get reservations in the dining room, the lounge has a somewhat different menu and is a la carte.

Deming Yan

Bad service.

Sean Thomson

The general manager reached out to me to correct an issue that had occurred. Based on his good faith apology, I have removed my negative review. I appreciate Coi’s efforts to correct the situation.

Frankie Woods

Fantastic experience!

Alberto Cantor

Amazing food and service. This is one of the best restaurants in the city hands down.

Tushar Gheewala

I am comparing to what Coi was a few years ago. Our latest visit there in early Dec 2017 was disappointing in comparison. THe food is still creative, but not tasty like it used to be. And prices have doubled. SO be prepared to spend $750+ for a dinner for two. I think you can spent that money in better ways.

I am not sure where to go with this, yet. I will write down the courses and wine pairings, but I realized why I wasn't excited to write a review, and why it was going to take a bit to work up the energy.... and that simple reason is because I came out of the experience, *immediately* with passive ambivalence. After a meal like that, and a check like that, there should be nothing but active raving. But it's almost that I wanted it behind me.... it was fantastic, beautiful, and delicious... The product here is so unbelievable in the Bay Area, the execution matters so much more.... all the product is the best in the world, in this area, so plating is vital. All the chefs go to the same markets, they are using the same products from the same farmers... so unless you grow stuff yourself (which so many chefs are doing), there is no real way to differentiate yourself beyond the plating and execution..... therefore we find more insecurity, and too much flourish, capping the SF food scene - people jockeying for position with little daring maneuvers and attempts. Coi was taking simple, beautiful, accessible products and making them uppity with no real depth, or too inaccessible, favoring art over function. It was not disappointing, but I should be raving. This one sentence sort of explains it.... I just wrote it to a chef friend: "Daniel is epic, and art is fun, but when the form goes so far over function, that the beauty on the front end is tempered by the fact you are just eating fancy veggies, the bill gives you a sticker shock that makes you forget about the plating." That is as simple as I could put it. When getting into multi-coursed stuff, maybe I want something a bit more traditional, or maybe I like artistic food to match it's visibly distinguished exterior, but in the end it just felt like fresh veggies that were played with for a bit too long. It was delicious, and the product was solid - but making such obviously simple stuff into expressively pretentious plates fell far shorter to my mind than the final bill did. I am waffling on making this a 2... so I leave it 3 hoping the review speaks for itself, and I don't have to court negative energy with that yellow looking star rating. =)

Had the tasting menu with the wine pairing (regular one) which were both amazing. The best part is that every plate is made with local ingredients and the chef makes sure that those ingredients really stand out. Also, as you would expect for this type of restaurant, impeccable service.

Iwona Ordon

Fantastic experience. The food was incredible. Especially loved the multiple desserts in the end

Paul Gennai

Some of the most inventive food I've ever eaten. Definitely worth getting the wine pairing

Zerr Matt

The food was amazing. Our server was great and so was the sommelier. There is one odd thing though in that the waiters march up and down the long and narrow dining space in dress shoes and make a sharp u-turn at the end. Our table was right near this end and it was noisy, distracting and even stressful the entire time. This detracted from the meal. They are a Michelin 2-star. They should have this figured out.

Excellent location for quality Quality Meals. I look forward to a return visit. Bring your appetite because portions are generous.

Franklyn Zhu

TLDR: For the same price, I’d recommend Quince or Saison. Food was great, albeit in my opinion with a little less character than the “art gallery rustic farm table” of Saison. Service was good, but pales in comparison with the nearby truly phenomenal service of Quince (which has a modern European elegance). Was still a wonderful experience, but at this level I think there’s a lot that’s just personal preference. Great seafood dishes, that was a highlight. I will say that I think the music choice was in poor taste. With this kind of ambience you’d expect something more subdued and sophisticated (I was hearing classic rock).

K O

Worth every penny.

Steve Clemmons

Small, intimate place with great service. Delicate presentation, artistically placed.

liang xin

Top notch service, impeccable food taste, artistic presentation, and intimate ambiance. Date night at Coi with my fiancee was perfection. The 9-course tasting menu and wine pairing was exquisite. Coi is well deserving of it's 2 Michelin Stars.

Gregory Block

One of the best dining experiences of my life.

Jason Collison

Amazing tasting menu and great service. Was elegant without being stuffy. Food was decadent. The black truffle ice cream stole the show.

Senior Technology Training

Atmosphere and decor made this place memorable for me. I look forward to going here again with a different girlfriend this time.

For the caliber of restaurant that COI is, I have to be really tough grading - which is why you see only four stars. But make no mistake, you should still pay this amazing restaurant a visit! Staff is always the make-or-break of a restaurant and it is no different at COI. The staff looks to see that you are coming. They open doors for you, take your coat, and treat you as an old friend coming back to visit. The space is very chic - it almost feels sci-fi with slit windows between dining spaces, outdoors, and the kitchen. The tree-slab tabletops bring a richness and humanity back , making the scene feel more like a log cabin. The meal feels like all the passion for quality that you can *see* the staff put into it. The dishes shine from sheer execution (such as a *perfectly* cooked duck) or vibrant and unique flavors like the fish and chicken heart reduction, the meat pie, or the duck pastry. There are things to be had at COI that will delight you and surprise you. As of this writing, this restaurant has earned three Michelin stars - so I know the staff has the passion to be worthy of them. As a gesture of respect to the great work of this staff, I will offer some observations: The first dish - while beautiful and delicious - was difficult to eat. It squished in my fingers and the staff had to bring me a hot towel. During dessert, the drinks did not arrive before the food - or at the same time. As a very minor suggestion as a guest, I would ask for a just a bit more advice to diners how to eat a dish and/or greater simplicity in preparation. I recommend making a stop at COI. You'll have a wonderful evening with a friendly and warm staff. There's a parking lot next door, though I strongly recommend taking Uber. San Francisco can be chilly, so be sure to bring a warm layer. Pavement can be uneven in this part of the city so ladies in heels - be careful!

Rafael Salgado

Extraordinary Food, beautifully presented. Attentive and Knodwledgeable staff

Mike Toman

For a once in a lifetime culinary experience visit COI. The food was incredible, the presentation epic and the staff fantastic. You will eat like a king and leave feeling like one.

Brianna Groenhout

Beautiful food, good wine pairings, nice but awkward service, and *mediocre tasting dishes overall*, experience felt really uninspired compared to other two star Michelen restaurants and not at all worth the price. Their reputation is for their excellent presentation and yes it was excellent but so it should be at this level, it didn't stand out compared to their competitors and I'd rather have good tasting food and a more considered dining experience if I'm paying over $1200 for two. In fact I've come to expect going to a place like Coi and being blown away by the food and experience. This was just disappointing in the end, never been to a two star or even a one star and walked away disappointed like that. Few examples: sea urchin was drowned in creme and had little other flavor, oyster just tasted like lettuce, bass had little flavor to the dish other than parsley and celery despite the many components, hope you like celery. Just so much competition and drowned out flavors, no aroma or heat. No inspiration. And subtle seafood can be phenomenonal, if they were going for subtle, delicate flavors they failed there too. The skate and the fin herb sorbet were the only two standout dishes I really enjoyed and felt on the level I was looking for being both beautiful and delicious.

Jake Prior

Kirsten Jones

quality meals and the feeling here is excellent. I wish there were more places like this around town. Service treated us so nice. This place has a good feel to it.

Willa S

Really good service but I’m not into foods

Shawn Sharifi

Great, intimate dining experience. A couple of absolute standout dishes. Best lamb I've ever had. The buttermilk ice cream and toasted oats was a surprisingly fulfilling dish.

mary davis Racciatti

It's like a dream dinner: creativity, quality, service.

Jason Bloom

Exquisite and innovative. The wine pairing was interesting and would have been more impressive had we not spent the two weeks before in the tea plantations of Taiwan.

Gerardo Colosio

Darren Templeman

This was one of my bucket list restaurants and it surpassed my already very high expectation. Amazing, knowledgable staff and an extremely relaxed atmosphere. Then there was the food, really can't explain. Quality, freshness, nuance, technique and intellectual all in a crazy deliciousness. A must go to place.

Solid - won’t disappoint. Friendly service.

Michael Xing

Great ambiance, excellent food and friendly and professional service. Highlights included abalone, cod smoked over beet charcoal, and a grilled cheese sandwich with gruyere and pickled carrots. Like most other restaurants of this caliber, the menu is seasonal, so there are no guarantees that the same dishes will be available during your trip. A tip for prospective diners: when I went the restaurant offered both a tasting menu and an a la carte menu, but was more than happy to mix and match, which I would definitely recommend.

Koby Vlotchek

It's getting better from one dose to onther. Strangely we came with no expectations and we enjoy it very much.

Margaret See

A place that it is hard to forget! Went here for a date and it had an amazing experience. The place is just quiet and cozy where people can talk and converse with one another. The food was delicious too. The price was a little bit higher but it was all worth it.

Alan Jacobe

Great intimate dining experience. Must do wine pairing and they allow you to split one cause it's alot of wine. They deserve their tire stars

Maureen Redfern

Absolutely spectacular!! Definatly a 3 Star experience. The food...the food...amazing! The staff, impeccable. The wine pairing, delectable. The best part of the evening was the desert. Divine! Well worth it.

Alysia Andrikopoulos

Unbelievable experience. Impeccable service and presentation. This is a must visit for anyone who loves food.

Miguel Armengol

Victor Blankenship

Nice place for quality quality meals. Good place to relax and unwind. The staff was very friendly and attentive.

Ping Chen

We recently went back to COI after our first visit 2 years ago and the meal was exceptional. Every dish was very strong and the service was perfect. Definitely one of the best restaurants in the city.

Michael Miniard

I'm going to give Coi a 2 star rating, but only because it taught me a valuable lesson. While planning a business trip I and a colleague could not believe our great fortune to score some final tickets for a late seating. We drove all day from LA to San Francisco along the scenic coast highway hurrying through most of the day in order to make our reservations. In retrospect, I would have rather just taken the loss of my prepayment and enjoyed our drive a bit more. The service at Coi, while attentive, is inconsistent and almost impersonal. We both opted for a wine pairing, my colleague selected the standard and I the cellar reserve. Each wine paired for my colleague was fully explained in detail with tasting notes and history of the vintner. Mine? Not so much. The head Som simply stopped by at the beginning of the meal and said, here's your wine's I'm going to put them decanters. I was also unaware that my pairing consisted of a larger pour of several wines meant to last over 2 courses. Had I known this, I would have opted for the standard pairing for a greater variety. The food was beautifully presented. Each dish was a work of art. However there was little to no flavor in most of them. This might seem reductionist, but there is literally nothing else I can say about the food. It was that unremarkable. At the end of the day I felt as though the curtain had been pulled back and the wizard had been revealed to be a fraud. I was left wondering if it was me, was I missing something? Was my pallet not as refined as I'd imagined? Or was the Michelin Star rating system a sham? We had several other outstanding meals on our trip, sadly the one that we were anticipating the most was not one of them. The lesson? Never meet your idols.

My favorite location for quality Quality Meals. service is always awesome even when they have a full house. staff treated us so kindly. prices are fair i would say.

Andrew Hunter

Hugely inventive cuisine; friendly service (and great at dealing with inexperienced diners). Worth the (absurd) price tag.

C Watts

If you’re looking for an experience, not just dinner, this is the perfect choice. It will be an evening filled with phenomenal food and marvelously presentation as you progress thru the meal. Every detail is planned from the exquisite introduction of each course to the choice of unique cutlery. As a complement to your dining experience, the staff will be welcoming from the greeting at the door thru the evening’s end. Definitely recommend!

Palak Sheth

Not a fan of the food. Was really looking forward to this place, but didn't enjoy it.

Innovative and delicious -- happy to accomodate dietary restrictions if you call ahead.

Kirin Fuji

Deserts were way too sweet. Not a great way to end the otherwise wonderful meal.

Bill Rubin

Very nice. Much better food than 3 yrs ago. Still phenomenal service.

Gregor J. Rothfuss

a lovely meal. the only nit: the pairings are weird and not very harmonious with the dishes.

Tyler Wolf

Patrick Bowen

Certainly a special place which approaches the once-in-a-lifetime category. The service is excellent and informative, the space is intimate and you can't go wrong with either the 11-course or prefix. I disagree with some of the other comments about alcohol pairings; these were some of the most innovative pairings I've ever tasted and were spot on.

Valerie Au

Came here for my birthday. This place was very professional and they knew their flavors. Pairing the food with wines were excellent. I would come here again.

Kait Warner

Most fantastic dining experience thus far. Still dreaming of the smoked yolk with creme fraiche and caviar. Superb wine pairing and selection. Really intriguing and intimate dark, moody aesthetic with clean lines and occasional thoughtfully placed floral pop of color. 5☆.

Steef Van Winkel

dan cohn

Some creative food. Some creative presentation. I think the most notable part of the experience was the interior design.. exquisitely subtle within a very constrained color pallet, yet very textural. In the end, probably not worth the price, but I'm pleased to have been.

We had the most amazing dinner and experience at Coi. The service was perfect, the interior design was great, and the tasting menu with the wine pairing was excellent. We have been to a number of Michelin starred restaurants and this one may be our favorite. As with all Michelin starred restaurants, it's expensive, but it was an amazing experience.

Lorena Hecker

Amazing experience! Set menu only and very considerate of dislikes or allergies. Elaborate wine pairing and tea pairing as alternative. Very nice staff. This isn't just food but an evening worth of tastes and a good time.

Kaureen Tralina

I have very fond memories of Coi since on 3/4 occasion i came here was with one of my closes friend... Like art gallery this is a "Boutique Food Gallery" its not a place to come to get your empty stomach filled. Its a place to come with someone who's a bit more seasoned to enjoy: - Food presentations with an open mind - To discover new taste palate - Broaden your horizon to what artistic chef has to offer - Experience the difference between artistic dinning (Coi) vs. fine dinning. That said, for the price i would of love to see the interior layout / decor / design to be a bit more interesting...?

Fred Ciaramaglia

Craig Czlapinski

Innovative tasting menu. Something as simple as the cherry tomatoes had such powerful taste.

Tina B

Great experience; the food was delicious. I'd still give it 5 stars as a standalone rating. However, I ate at Alinea shortly after dining at Coi, so it dimmed the Coi experience for me.

Robbin Xu

Quality meal and presentation with great service. Thanks for the servers and the chefs for a wonderful evening.

David Sloo

Tony, pricey, exquisite. A refined tasting menu focussed on lightness and contrasts. Mostly seafood and vegetables.

Garrett Hayashida

Excellent experience. Wonderful service. Delicious and surprising food.

My preferred location for tasty Quality Meals. came in on a weds. the service was friendly and sociable. food is like a restaurant in jacksonville i loved.

Pavel Belov

Overall quality of the dishes was good, but left much to be desired. The locally sourced concept was unique but limited the dishes to an extent where none of our party left either satisfied or overly impressed, especially with the price tag. Of all my experiences with Michelin star tasting menus this was the most poorly executed with excessively long breaks between the courses. The cherry on top was that two members of our party left with food poisoning. I unfortunately would not recommend Coi to anyone.

It's a michelin star restaurant. Don't expect a toy to come with your meal. I was here years ago and heard that the legendary chef, Daliel Patterson has passed on the reigns last year. I had a delightful experience here. The opening beet plate was to die for, and the subsequent dishes were all unique, flavorful, and nicely paired with some amazing wines. Chef Patterson himself even came out and presented us with an extra dish to try after already 11 dishes! I can tell this man has a passion for gastronomy (molecular in particular!) and fresh California ingredients. Overall, simply gorgeous. Don't expect to pay under $200 for your meal. It's not dinner, it's a culinary experience.

Vivian Cromwell

The service is good, but the staff is not as attentative as other places in the same category. The food is creative but I felt the chef is obsessed with the lemon/vinegar/anything sour. I am wondering if it was just a bad night. I dont plan to go back within 6 months.

Heather Phillips

Phenomenal food, beautiful presentation, and outstanding service. Would recommend!

Melania Fernandes

Great food!

Everybody BE CAREFUL when you make you reservations!!!! If one person doesn't show up they still charge you for the number of people you listed on your reservation! HOW RUDE!!! My husband even called to ask would it be ok to come if we're one person short, they said yes and still charged us! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!

Loic Lagarde

Very good and creative food. Amazing wine list, I actually discovered wine regions I had never heard of. However, still way too expensive for what it is!

Joanne Lo

Food is like a piece of art, love it!!!

yuen zhang

$250/per person, not include any beverages, 20% service charge add, the food servers too slow, my dinner time total is 3 hr.

Wendi

Pricey, but delicious and every dish was well thought out. Courses consisted of mainly seafood harvested from local areas. Pre fixe menu only. Tea pairing goes nicely with meal.

Yongjoon Lee

Very courteous serving and nice foods except pigeon..:)

Senobar Safafar- Lanigan

Art on a plate! Delicious and memorable flavors you can savor in your mind for a long time.

Fabien Curto Millet

We were absolutely charmed and impressed in pretty much every way by Coi. We tried it for the first time a week ago, so still under the care of Chef Daniel Patterson (who is leaving in a few months). The food was simply fabulous: extremely high quality, inventive, surprising and delighting at every step. Often you worry when going to a restaurant of this type that you will be just paying for white table cloth and obsequious service. This is not one of those places, it is currently genuinely the real deal. Whether you are celebrating something special or want to experience a foodie treat, I cannot recommend this highly enough, it is high art. The staff was also very friendly.

Joshua Steinberg

Fun experience but the food was nothing special.

jeckjazon lee

用餐环境很有格调,咖啡很棒!

Han San Lim

I will leave it to the foodie to get into the details of the food offerings. The service was on point without being to stuffy. The space is simple yet elegant which a lot like each plate of food, cleanly and beautifully presented without clutter. Without an element that’s not contributing to the dish. The parting give, black Truffle pastry, both sweet and salty the same time. So good!!

Richard Vi

Rohey Livne

Don't get me wrong, it's a good restaurant, but it doesn't stand out in any way. Not worth the price nor the 3 Michelin

Barry Herman

This was a ridiculously overpriced 11-course equivalent of new cuisine small plates. Some of the plates worked and some didn't. For these prices (we paid nearly $500 for two with only one of us ordering a half-bottle of wine), EVERY plate should be spectacular. The main course beef dish was flavorful but so tough it was almost inedible. The ambience and service are great. I would never return here, even if the tab were picked up by someone else.

Ji-Hwa Chen

With party of six, we got a private room which is a bonus. They served fix menu with 11 courses, and we loved every dishes, and their service were impeccable. We will definitely visit again.

Bailey Jensen

quality meals, mmm, my favorite treat. came here on a friday i think. it has an awesome atmosphere. menu is like a place in miami i enjoyed

Dayou Zhu

had birthday dinner there by myself.friendly and warm staff.

Nancy Ludgus

11 courses, elegantly and exquistely prepared, set menu changes weekly to highlight ingredients in season. Decor is minimal, but it is an oasis of calm. Service impeccable. With so many courses, stick with the wine pairings. It is outrageously expensive, so not a place to visit on a regular basis unless you're a modern day robber baron.

Van Ben

Good

Fiid Williams

We had a tasting menu at Coi which was fabulous. I'm particularly fond of light aromatic flavors which many of the dishes had in spades. A real treat. It's not quite the French Laundry, but it's very close, and it's here in the city!! I wouldn't be surprised if Coi scores a 3rd Michelin Star in the next year or two.

Luna Hunter

Ok place for quality meals. It's so delicious. Service is consistently great. It has a cool interior. This place has good reviews for a reason.

Mathieu Stemmelen

Daniel Patterson's "adventurous", "exquisitely prepared" tasting menus are a "journey worth taking" assert fans of this North Beach Californian-French, where "seasonal" ingredients stand out in a "magical" "mélange of flavors and techniques"; service is "impeccable" while the "minimal" space is an "oasis of calm", and though it may be "outrageously expensive", many recommend it for a "special occasion" or just to "have your food mind blown"; P.S. reservations are only available through a prepaid online ticketing system. The most amazing food I've ever had in the whole of my life - easily and definitively. The staff are brilliant. The wine pairing is a must - they crushed it. Beer and asparagus! Incredible!

Jimin Song

Not worth the price. I wouldn't come back here.

Nicolas Gramlich

Best food of my life. Amazing fluke and lobster!

jihyun park

If you want to experience real Califonian style fine dining in San francisco, you should go to COI.

Patti Harrison

Absolutely my most favorite restaurant ever! The food is magical, whimsical, fresh and delicious. The yellow squash soup is like eating sunshine. Each meal is a melange of flavors and techniques without ever being unapproachable. Foams, infusions, multi-sensory dishes. Everything I've had here has been amazing. I wish it were priced for everyday dining but its a great special occasion meal.

Harmony White

We visited COI to celebrate my husband's birthday! The food is incrediable delicious, I also love the plating, COI also prepared a cake for us! Must visit aging in the near future!

Enya Lee

(Dec 2017) Seasonal tasting menu $250/person. Emphasis on seafood and there is an option for a tea pairing as well as the usual wine pairing. First dish was oyster prepared hot and cold. Second dish was caviar on a root which each caviar was placed with precision and tastes delicious. Next was crab with these two jelly which was very flavorful especially when you eat the crab with the jelly. Next was a fish called turbo and they removed the skin and replaced it with vegetables they constructed as scales. Dish after was also a fish but the replaced the skin with grilled chicken skin which made the flavors very interesting. Last main was lobster with foie gras. The foie gras was amazing, smooth and flavorful. There were two dishes of dessert, one was mochi with vanilla ice cream and second was pistachio cake with lemon sorbet. They also give you a ton of little desserts in the end of the meal. Overall the experience was fun, we did the tea tasting but it wasn't worth it. Would definitely come back since the ambiance is not stuffy and the food resembled art pieces.

Jim Donnelly

way too salty. every dish was over salted. how can you taste the meal with so much salt? also, the service staff was not very professional or friendly. i guess they bought into this crap. for this much money, go somewhere else. the decor was good though. can't tell you how much we were disappointed with this.

Yao Wong

Recently under new chef Erik Anderson, it's taken on a more classical spin. The one downside is that the tasting menu is not a lot of food - probably the only time I had to go to In-n-out after a dinner.

Niniane Wang

I came during a hurricane and blackouts, and they were fully operational. The food was great! And beautiful decor.

Brandon Teo

Very well executed minimalist fine dining cuisine. The only reason this place get 4/5 stars was this meal came a couple of day after dining at the French Laundry which is the best meal I’ve had in my life. Back to Coi...The menu is packs a punch with flavors, presentation on each dish were clean and elegant. Technically faultless and passionately sourced produce from the San Francisco area. Dining room is cosy and minimalist, in line with Coi’s philosophy. Service and prompt, friendly and very knowledgeable.

Bb Peng

3 of us went to have dinner tonight. The service is 3 star. The food, for the first 8 dishes, they are great! However, the last dish was duck. It was medium rare. That was fine but it was so hard! I can’t chew on it and have to spit it out, because I cannot swallow it without chewing! Worst duck I ever had!

Luna G

Not impressed. I have to agree with other reviews that their flavors are too rich. Sometimes, both the ingredients and the food are overwhelming, and the combination just made it worse. Among the main dishes, I only like their pigeon, which was very tender and seasoned well. The desserts are good, so as their bread. I especially like their tomato sauce, which is lightly sweetened with a refreshing taste that adds ok great to the bread. We got a second serving on the bread. Service is good, no complaint on that. Overall a ok experience but not really worth the price.

William Baxter

Best food in town!

Dan Moisa

Good food but not really best value for your money. The fish dishes were by far the highlight. Some of the quail/birds, not so much. Good for special events.

Evan Anderson

My wife and I dined at Coi last night. Every aspect of the experience was perfect. The food was delicious, creative, and beautiful. The wine pairings were a fantastic enhancement as well and were expertly matched with each dish. The service was top notch, and just what you would expect for a top tier establishment. We definitely recommend Coi!

Linda Molnar

A truly exquisite dining experience! Top marks in all areas - especially service. Great for special occasions and friends visiting from out of town.

Dale Cruse

Ever eat at an expensive restaurant and immediately regret how much you paid for what you got? Not here. Coi is expensive and worth every penny.

Matt Lingner

Ian Fischer

Excellent tasting menu with all of the non dessert courses focused on seafood.

Kim Ost

The food was absolutely delicious, but I personally didn't find it that memorable.

Albert Chong

Cathy Hsu

Too vege for me, only 3 of 11 with fish or meat, taste good but not surprising, and plates are not that beautiful as previous menu.

Ao Hong

Comparing to other three stars, the difference is not trivial.

Jennifer Estevez

Amazing food, beautiful ambience and their wine director is a stud!

Thomas Donnelly

Good food, not Michelin 2 ⭐️ good nor was it close to the price point in value. Staff was friendly but awkward. There are better restaurants in SF for this price point. Portions were exceptionally small and we went home and ate more. I don't regret eating here but won't be back.

Phinizy Wimberly

Great presentation but I felt there was a lack of passion overall. Lack of passion from the staff and lack of passion in the food.

Ka Wong

coi coi coi, the very high end restaurant run by the famous Daniel Patterson.

randallm klienman

The fish was outstanding. We had a very nice visit. Good Service, but awfully expensive and worth it. Thanks.

Sheri Castilyn

Just... Beautiful delicious food and wine + beer! I love fine dining and have been to some of the very best places in SF. Coi is special. Excellent front of house service, with a nod to the sommelier. The new chef is on fire!

Andy Woo

Quite the extensive tasting menu. “Energetic” environment (people talking loudly) with light 80’s music playing in the background. We ended up playing “guess the song and artist with the table next to us. As the sound level of other patrons grew a little on the louder side, it impeded us from hearing the music enough to play our game. :-) Not a complaint. :-) But, it was part of the experience. Dress code appeared to range from casual (jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts) to business casual (jacket and dresses). The food was plentiful, they called it a 9 course meal, but we had more. The following (transcribed right from their menu (with ‘*’ denoting the unplanned surprises), they described them slightly differently and with more detail at the restaurant. Great food presentation. 1) Black truffle tartlette with spring onion and bacon, -This was a great starter. Warm, creamy, mushroom-y savory, flavorful. Yummy!! 2) Geoduck: crispy kombu, caramelized duck cream -Crispy crunchy texture, very tasty, but with a bit of an overtone of “fishy”, we couldn't figure out why, but agreed on the unexpected overtone. 3) Oyster: cucumber, tomato water, horseradish -Very unique, fun, thin ice surface to break through to get to the tasty cream/custard textured surprise underneath along with little flowers. 4) Fluke: shitake mushroom, meyer lemon jelly -This was quite flavorful. Lots of different tastes as you bit in to each piece. Liquid light but flavorful. *) unplanned “bread”, which was more of a sort of savory cake. -Hints of green onion, crumbly, very tasty, accompanied by salted butter, and a savory jam. All very good. 5) Dungeness Crab: pear, black sesame, citrus leaf -Very flavorful accompaniments to the crab terrine. We did not taste much crab in this. 6) Grilled Spanish Octopus: pimenton caramel, crispy artichoke, white bean -This was my favorite. Loved the octopus and the sauce it was in, as well as loved the artichoke (and I'm normally not a fan of artichoke), the white bean was a nice compliment to this plate. 7) Quail: morel mushroom, preserved ramp -My wife loved this plate. She wasn't as much of a fan of the mushroom stuffed with mushrooms, but I was !! She loved both the bone in piece as well as the “meatier” piece of quail. 8) Duck: green olive, potato, caramelized shallot -My wife loved this plate. She loved the duck, the olives and especially loved the caramelized shallot. I liked this plate a lot as well. 9) Yuzu: Lemon poppyseed This was an AWESOME dessert. The one dish that we both loved equally. Light but tasty and not over powering. Delightful. 10) Black Truffle -This was a wonderful unique dessert mixture of sweet and savory mixed together. Break the orange mock-egg and flavorful tastes flow out into the crafted edible holder, turning what looks like an egg in a holder, to an eclectic mixture of tastes. *) Chef surprise chocolate mousse and ice cream -Very rich and delightful ! I think this pushed it over the top for my wife. She was full full after this. 11) Mignardises -4 different tastes. 3 sided on the sour side and 1 on the sweet. It was a nice finish to a nice meal. Some of the sauces were very good and my wife was only disappointed they there was some kind of true bread or something else to try to get to every drop. We discretely scraped the plates as much as possible with the spoons and forks, to get every last drop. We have been celebrating our wedding anniversary for the last month spoiling ourselves with dining at various fine restaurants in San Francisco and surrounding areas. When given the option during the reservation process, or when called and asked, we “admit” to celebrating our anniversary. This was the first place, although it was part of the reservation process to indicate as such, where the restaurant not only didn't make a big deal, they didn't mention it. Other places had nice touches of mentioning it upon arrival, at our table, at the end of the evening, printing menus with our names and wishing us a Happy Anniversary (pics out of order, couldn't re-sort in Google)

Excellent fusion cuisine and service, minimalistic in style but over priced

Amazing vegetable (vegetarian) menu - particularly for a ** restaurant. Great service, comfortable atmosphere (we were in the lounge). Well worth getting the wine pairing. Highly recommended.

Interesting but overrated.

My fav place for quality meals. Got there near seven, it wasn't very crowded. The staff was very sociable and kind. Bring your appetite because portions are large.
