REVIEWS OF Bob's Big Boy IN California

Like stepping back in time. The original decor and space really takes you back and sets a great mood. From the display cases to the neon, all are great. But the greatest is the food which is still consistent and as delicious as I remember as a kid. The chili spaghetti is so unique and original and a standout for taste. The Pappy Parker fried chicken is the crispiest and some of the tastiest fried chicken of all time, and the classic Bob's combo really is the 1950s in a bite. Top it off with a hot fudge cake with fudge that tastes like no other and this is truly a gut busting, smile inducing meal.

Jeff Deacon

This Bob's location is only nostalgic for us. We don't believe the prices are that friendly (for what they serve) and yes, the service is fairly good and consistent. But the Bob's concept seems so tired in 2019 or 2020.

Joe Montoya

Great place to hang out with the guys on Fridays! The vintage classic cars are are quite a treat, as is getting a nice hamburger and more here. The 50's and 60's era restaurant is a beautiful treasure to see!

Thomas W

My wife and I have been coming to this location for many years, and truly enjoy it! Good food and good service. One day we were in a long line outside the front door of the establishment. People were moving along the line, discussing employment at the studios - what work was available, projects ending, etc. What a great way to network!

Anthony Scharf

Visited for the Friday night car cruise. Fantastic! A wide variety of cars, both classic and new. Definitely a must do for any one remotely interested in vehicles.

Alex Torres

Walking into Bob's Big Boy restaurant is an awesome experience. The friendly staff greeted us and gave us a realistic estimate wait to get our table. The hot fries and fresh and appetizing flavors were worth all the wait. I ordered the chili size which had a very generous helping of chili and burgers for the rest in our group. Our friendly waitress kept our soft drinks on point! Can't wait to visit again soon!

Jay Uss

Very nostalgic location, brings back memories of when I was a kid. The shakes are fantastic, great atmosphere and wonderful service. I would love to come back when there's a classic car show in the lot.

Robert Dresser

This is "the" place for burgers, malts & hot fudge cake. No equals. It is oldest Bob's still in business and a weekly car show. If you know a better place, eat there.

wizeburn

Never had a problem at Bob's. I practically lived at Bob's when I was in high school. I love the French fries and the chocolate shakes. I will usually get a Cherry Coke too. The Big Boy combo is popular if you eat burgers. Plenty of options from pasta to sandwiches to burgers. Some car clubs meet up on weekends and show off their sweet rides which is a nice memory to make with your family. Enjoy. Oh, they have pies and desserts too. Good stuff!

Loved it was seated very quickly. Everyone was friendly and the food was delicious.

jennifer kozak

We were so impressed by the atmosphere as well as the food! It was a great place to get a bite to eat before we had our Warner Brothers tour!! Great food, fun place!! Highly recommend!!

Danny Hamm

Late night greasy food after a night of drinking, this is a must. On Friday night you can come to see all of the hot rod cars here. This is a historic landmark for Burbank and is worth it just for the milkshakes alone. This isn't the place to come if you are on a diet or staying away from carbs. But if you are looking for large servings of guilty pleasure food items then look no further. You really can't go wrong with any burger on the menu. Patty melts are on point especially when you add some onion rings to the mix. The pies are OK but like I said you must get the milkshakes! You will get your glass full as well as the extra in the silver cup. You will love eating here but you will feel guilty later. Might as well go big or go home. There is an outside area to eat, the diner bar, or you can get a booth. If you are looking for a cheat day meal then look no further.

Dylan Shelby

Great burger! Definitely better than In-N-Out. Haha

m h

Definitely one of my favorite "classic breakfast" places around LA. Consistent and always the same, just like you want from your "regular". You get what you pay for, it's not the classiest place ever, but it is EXACTLY what I want and need out of a quick breakfast place. Love me some Big Boy!

Teri Hansen

A must visit if you are in LA. Great food, fun atmosphere, great location and, most important, on-site parking.

RENA SCANNEL

Great food, great service ! Big boys will always be a favorite

Eric Bergman

What a special treat for us. Loved the food and loved the atmosphere. A true LA gem.

Silvia Larin

Horrible service, I have never been so stunned at what awful service Bob's is dishing out. My order was forgotten, and when we finally reminded the waiter he forgot again with the second order. Plus you people add automatically the tip, why? So we are forced to tip a bad waiter for bad service. The waiter seemed annoyed I was not going to tio him. $16 dollars he was charging for a bad service. If you guys are planning to charge in advance for service, you need to dish out excellent service. This is super wrong. I was not happy and probably will think twice as to chose Bob's as a place to go eat. IHOP has better service.

Charlie Green

I was really disappointed in the burger. The buns were soggy and the meat tasted like a high school cafeteria was serving it. We went on a Friday night and the car show was A+. If you go, get something other than the burger. Chocolate milk shake was delicious. Also, if you go on Friday, have a contingency parking plan cause it gets PACKED.

Richard Garcia

Food and atmosphere was great. Lots of parking and close to other places nearby. Got seated pretty quickly on a Saturday afternoon. Server was a bit busy so we missed her for a bit. All in all good place to sit down and enjoy a hamburger and shake.

Darryl G

You can depend on Bob's. This place hasn't changed in years. Luv it!

Phil Martinez

Burned toast and slow service. It took forever to get a refills. Asking if we wanted a refill should not be asked, just refill it please.

Caitlin Cunningham

I love coming to Bobs Big Boy for their World famous chili spaghetti. Any chance I get, that's my "Go to" meal. I've never been to this Burbank location so that was pretty special. It's the Original joint so I was super excited! Upon arriving it definitely impressed me. It was nostalgic and so vintage- I loved it! I went on a Sunday around 2 pm and it was packed but was able to get a table within 10 minutes, which wasn't so bad. Absolutely Loved the friendly, fast service.

Brooke Hubbell

Food was very good. We had been looking forward to coming here for a long time!! Could be a little cleaner though. Overall very good.

Oliver Htway

This place is adorable and has amazing food options. Can get busy some days and parking when the classic car show is present is almost impossible. There are nearby neighborhoods to park in if it does get a bit dicey. It’s very convenient if you are seeing any shows (ie Ellen) as it is less than a four minute drive from the Warner brothers lot.

sakinah jackson

The food was great, the service was fast. I truly enjoyed the atmosphere, fries, shakes and even the onion rings. The only reason it was not a 5, is because the same recipe for burgers has remained the same, I like the nostalgia, but I think it's time to update the meat used they are doing wonderful things with ground beef and ground Chuck these days, just a remake of the burger with new meat would be flawless

George Kennedy

First time visiting Bob's Big Boy the food was really good. The staff is super friendly and it was a Friday night so they had a classic car show in the parking lot that was awesome.

Dan Rux

Excellent. Great service and food. Great atmosphere. Had great time well there.

C.J. DeVine

Decent food, decent service. A diner that harkens to the days of yore, yet manages to stay relevant. It's a landmark in the LA region and worth a visit for a meal and a slice of Americana

Ian Scott

Bob's Big Boy is a 24 hour diner that you can't not just love. It is in fact the original Bob's and has a very intact sense of the oldies to it. Food is good, diner food, maybe a little less "diner" then normal but it's solid. Burgers are very yummy and I even did the spaghetti chili which I think probably rivals chili John's. Only downside is it gets SUPER busy late and you can sometimes not even get service for a seat, so keep that in mind!

Wanderess Warrior

I ate at the oldest Bob's big boy this week in California. The Origional Double Decker never disappoints. My particular guest even found safe gluten sensitive option by ordering without bread. The friendly server Alma was happy to show us the flavoring packet to confirm the ranch was safe! I can't find a more consistent burger and the car shows are fun as wells. We loved the Burbank location.

Imely Wrnr

Very good and big hamburguers. This place is open 24 hrs. I recomend it. Come see the car show every Friday at their parking lot.

Tammy R

I love this place. Not pretentious. Good variety of food. Reasonable prices. Friendly staff.

Michelle Klein-Hass

Wow, this was a very good experience at Bob's this time. Of course, I have been going to Big Boy throughout my life, childhood through adulthood. Today's visit was especially good. I don't eat red meat anymore. However, I really wanted an old school Big Boy burger, so I asked if they could make one with turkey rather than beef. They did! They even split the turkey patty in two to emulate the thin beef burgers on a Big Boy. They went above and beyond for me. Kudos! Compliments to the chef and to the waitress. Was acting as tour guide for a Twin Peaks fan friend, and we went here because of the Lynch connection. However, this friend also came to visit to see Sir Paul McCartney at Dodger Stadium, so finding out there was a famous booth where the Beatles had lunch at Bob's one day made her day. Too bad they didn't keep as meticulous of information on the booth David Lynch would sit in to have coffee and a milkshake, and dream up amazing stories. Nobody working there still remembered.

Jeremy Davis

I got the "famous big boy combo" and it was one small step up from mcdonalds. Save yourself the trouble. Go to 5 guys and actually enjoy your food.

Jim Smith

I love this place. The food is prepared correctly, the portions are generous and the prices are great. I love it and have been going to a Bob's somewhere since the 70's. Keep it up Bob!

Michelle Abelong

Delicious food. Quick service. We all ordered burgers. BF always stops at this Burbank place to eat when we're in LA.

cesar jara

Great place to go eat after midnight in Burbank. Hamburger are very good and breakfast choices too

Matthew Lievrouw - Burgess

Absolutely iconic! Great diner, good prices, friendly staff, and good service. If you never been, you need to.

Kelley Hw Moore

Great atmosphere. Lots of food for Good price. Service is excellent .

Charles D'Atri

Bobs Big Boy is an American classic. From the googie style to the friendly staff to the comfort food with enough healthy stuff to assuage your conscience, it's a much loved local icon. Bring a bottle of the seasoning home for grilling and dips while you're at it!

Lench Murillo

Brought back great memories of when I was younger! The burger, fries, root beer float and the hot fudge cake were fantastic! The staff were also great!

Mark Sampson

My family grew up in Burbank. Now only my kids are left in the area. Every time my family gets together in So Cal, Bob's is a must stop! Last time was in June and we had 11 of us. Great food, great service and love the atmosphere. Lots of childhood memories

David Laster

Classic historic mainstay. Big boy burger never disappoints, complete with fries and a side of Bleu cheese! Service could be better - waiter was missing and we couldn't really get refills or napkins without flagging him down, but they were also pretty busy. Always worth a visit with the strawberry pie finale! And open 24 hours.

Alma Ruiz

Food is great and delicious love the selection and the old location is awesome. The shakes are so delicious you have to try them, they give you so much food for a great price.

Eric Cowan

A Los Angeles classic, very good food and service at an iconic restaurant.

gerard reyes

Bob's Big Boy is iconic, I was thrilled to finally eat at the oldest one. I ate at numerous Big Boy restaurants in Japan at least once a week. But this one, the original has long fallen from grace. The steak and accompanying sides were absolutely horrible, I gave up half way, and didn't have the heart to insult the lovely waiter. The shrimp plate was underwhelming, the only two plates that were tolerable were the breakfast plate and bacon burger, but we can get those for much cheaper at a Norms or IHOP. The prices were so lofty, that I almost had to cough up a $100 bucks for one adult and 3 children. It's sad such a historic diner get run to the ground like this.

Greg Gardner

Really cool place! Old style diner with food selection to match. Very busy, nice staff and good food. Absolutely awesome classic / custom / exotic car show in the parking lot on Friday nights. A must you like 50's style diner food and cars!!!

Daisy Belmont

Great customer service, employees are very attentive and very polite. Our plates Big Bleu Cheese and Country Fried Steak besides having great customer service they also have great quality food. I will definitely be coming back.

Eddie Marti

Bob has great serving, good food late at night, i love, home is great, and Bob's is one place i stop at when i visit back home. Thank you guy's for remaining here through all the changes going on around. Love the great food!

Steve C 032

I've been coming here for decades. Unfortunately, it's one of the very few remaining Bob's Big boy restaurants in CA. I used to go to the one on Wilshire Blvd and Highland when I had my place in Hancock Park. Unfortunately, that one was torn down a long time ago. The food is good and the service is good...for the most part. I usually get the patty melt with grilled onions. That is so good! I've had the chili numerous times...really good. Other times, I've ordered corned beef hash and country boy breakfast; those are both really good.

Christian Van Rensburg

THIS IS HEAVEN. Awesome food and drinks. And looking through the window on a Friday's evening watching the classic cars coming to the parking lot is breathtaking. Keep it up guys. You're doing great!

Lennon

Had to stop by here while in LA. We are huge Beatles fans and read about them eating here. We were seated right next to the booth they ate at. All the staff were very friendly and our breakfast was wonderful. We will definitely go back the next time we visit the area. We also bought some cool t-shirts there.

Armine Chitjian

The setting was cool and it was a happening place for late at night. The food was a little disappointing since they're known for burgers and we weren't crazy about them. Maybe their other menu items are tastier... might go back to try their breakfast! Kids loved taking pics with Big Boy in the front.

Ally Parzi

The food and atmosphere here is amazing. I was on vacation in LA and we ate here both days that we had breakfast. The staff is friendly, the food is great, and it's definitely a historical place. A wall with famous actors that have eaten there, and even a booth that the Beatles ate in before the release of Help! Definitely recommend

Arturo Sanchez

This place is awesome. Great food and staff.

Douhghlie04

Always good food. Went late at night. I love places that are open late especially when I used to work graveyard

jesse alvarez

Took my girlfriend here after drinks one time cause she had never been there. She got an avocado and I got the old fashioned burger. Ive been going here since I was little with my family and the food was just as good as it was back than. Thanks for the amazing food and great memories.

Josh Lee

The service is great, the food can be hit or miss, but this place is all about the building's iconic architecture and atmosphere! It's really like getting into a time machine and stepping into the 1950's. Conrad's in Glendale has better food for sure, but if you want to visit a real jewel of The Valley this is the spot!

Anne Adams

Taking my two young children here for a Sunday lunch recently was an enjoyable and memorable experience. The food tasted as good as I remembered it to be back in the old days when there were hundreds of these restaurants in every neighborhood in Los Angeles.

Jarad Cruse

Nothing like the Original. 50's style diner with good food. I had the "Original Big Boy Combo" which is a double cheeseburger with fries. It was good. And definitely dont sleep on the desserts. We had the chocolate shake, banana shade and the hot fudge brownie sundae. All were GREAT. The only reason for the 4 star was the bathroom's.

FREDRICK STREET

Won't go back! Service slow, forgets to bring your food you ask for! And food was bland, I was just a group of 7 and they were not half full of people nobody in my group were happy!

Bruce Eaton

What can you say it's an American icon Good food and great service

Sheila Sturtz

Always love Bob's. When I am in Burbank never miss going there. Great menu. Great cherry and vanilla cokes. Service always good.

Jackson Ruttan

Good landmark. Prompt counter service. Satisfying, no nonsense, no frills, solid burgers. Family friendly. Fridays they have a classic car show. Perfect for the whole family. No complaints. 5 stars from me.

ROSHY 209

I loved this place because they have Gaint food which will get you stuffed before even finishing it all.

Pierre

A staple if California. This place was delicious. I highly recommend the Big Boy Classic Burger Combo. No one in my group of 10 didn't thoroughly enjoy the food

JK Gladu

I'm so glad that the founders take such pride in this store. Their founding, flagship location; built in the Streamline Moderne style. (My personal favorite!) In addition to keeping the building the way it looked in its glory days, they have done the same with the menu selection. While a couple of my favorites from years ago are gone. Their signature items remain. And, while the prices are nowhere near where they were in the 1950's, 60's, or 70's, they aren't outrageous either. I love that they still keep the car culture in mind, as well as helping charitable organizations. Keep up the good work!

James Refalo

It's a classic. The original from 1949. The burgers are much bigger, 8 oz patties, but they still put the same red relish sauce on their burgers, and Bob's thousand island is great on fry's - doesn't have the vinegar bite. My girlfriend loved food and atmosphere, and wants to return.

Jason

This place brings back memories... This place is always busy, I mean BUSY. The food is alright, food quality could get some love... Service is slow. Not a terrible place to eat though. Food is affordable. Atmosphere is interesting. Parking is great... Very nostalgic

Lesly A Chavez

Love this place. They Make the best banana shake here.

joey yamamoto

Such an iconic place and the food is so good. We had the big boy burger with the chocolate shake , The chili spaghetti and the hot fudge cake. Everything was delicious. Can't wait to go back!!

Summer Starr

Go anywhere else cause Bob's gone. We went for the great Big Boy and they were awful. The super red relish and the thousand island only Bob put in every Big Boy sandwich, NOT A DROP OF EITHER ON 'EM. The meat was thicker and horrible. Spare yourself disappointment, one of us had Fish 'n Chips and not good either. UGH!!

Cecily Carter

Bob's big boy was rad. The burger was HUGE ,Just like the picture. And the meal was SO WORTH IT!! Delicious, not over priced and terrificC!!

D ANDREWS

I love this place. It's the last of a dying breed of restaurant, and while that is a sad fact, it nevertheless means you can enjoy it while it is in operation. The Bob's Big Boy burgers just as they did in my childhood, and the fries are just as tasty. The menu is more comprehensive than it used to be, and that might appeal to some, but at its core, it's a burger joint that still exists in the 1950s.

Matt Smith

Don’t expect vegan, gluten free, or farm to table. Do expect great American diner food that is hot, flavorful, and filling. It’s a classic spot in historic Burbank - the real home of TV and movies. The decor is retro but the service is quick and friendly. Plenty of locals who are known by the wait staff, and each other. Big thumbs up!

sean m

Had the combo double burger. It was ok. Meat has no seasoning and couldn't finish it. salad looked like it was leftover. Maybe I'm just used to better places for burger.

Lisa Mallory

The last of its kind in So Cal. Iconic burger and fries. I grew up listening to my father and 3 uncle's stories (from way back in the 40's ) about Bob's Big Boy milkshakes served in the metal goblet. Sadly. No more! The food is OK. I like their dressings. Buns should be crispy toadted, not cold & gooey. I took my 79 year old father here all the way from Sacramento to dine here on our Burbank-Glendale visit. It's been decades since he was here. Many classics are missing. Dad says: "Bring back the thick shakes served in the metal goblets."

Jillian and Nick Perry

No trip to Hollywood is complete without a stop at Bob's. The food is perfect diner fare, the staff is always friendly and the ambience is wonderfully nostalgic. Get the Hot Fudge cake.

william diel

Great place. Enjoyed the food and atmosphere

Garret Edmunds

A blast from the past. As good as I remembered. Not a location close to where I live, but worth the trip. I'll be back. Great tasting burger, and decadent Diet Cherry Coke.

Bridget Bartlett

Haven't been to a Bob's Big Boy since I was a kid. Really brought back memories. Prices are reasonable, quality was great and service was excellent. Definitely a must see.

DeeJay Bundst

This is the kind of place you go to when you know what you want but you don't know where to get it. The chicken is tender and the coffee is warm. What more could you ask for? Bathrooms are a little far away from the choice corner of the place...it's a lot nicer than the crummy Bob's in Northridge, which looks more like a glorified fast food restaurant with sticky tables. The tables at this one are Keen. I wonder if they serve adult beverages...I've always assumed they are too kid friendly for things to be allowed to get wild like that, you know?

Anita Anderson

I was was so impressed with the service, friendly servers. They were awesome! I was there with friends. We let them know we had limited time to eat. They accommodate us. The food was great!! I remember my aunt telling me about this restaurant chain. Cause she work as hostess when she was young. She had to wear a fake hair piece to look like a hair bun with a brown bow on front, wear a white blouse and a brown skirt. She was 18 years old. It was in 1976-77. It looked just like to she said!!! I strongly recommend it!!

amy ennis

Pretty typical americana. Sloppy restairant becuase they are super busy. Food is good, french fries are bleh. Atmosphere is okay but should be freshened up.

Zachary Yench

Good food. But who is Bob and who is his Big Boy? Nonetheless, wonderful.

Rustell LoManto

I’ll admit that we decided on Bob’s Big Boy because it was the only place we could find in the area with parking and then we had a rough start because we were super hungry and the wait was long. Once we got past that, all was good. The service was friendly and fast. It was interesting to have to explain to my children that there used to be bob’s everywhere and to show them some of the memorabilia. The food was good and served hot.

Michael Weisberg

Certainly not gourmet, but a fun place to eat. Pappy Parker Chicken pretty good. Hot fudge cake amazing. Waitress phenomenal.
