The food is decent in taste. Service was great even tho the food took a bit longer than expected. I specifically enjoy when they treat my children just like every other customer in a good way not just brush them off like if only adults are the customers and our waitress was on point with that. It seemed like the bar in there had more(better) service at the time that we went (after 8pm). But it sounded like they had karaoke. Above all it was good for the first time.

Went to party that was supposed to end at 1:AM, at midnight the main waiter started taking table tops and said the party was over, he just wanted to start cleaning early. Party organizers told that waiter that they will call owners to remind of the contract but he was persistent to kicking us out at midnight. After going back and forward for about 20 minutes the waiter then allowed the party to continue. Other then that, every thing else was fine.

Jim's has some pretty great breakfast but some pretty terrible service. We came in tonight so excited for our Sunday dinner only to have a very impatient, and disrespectful server Jina A. I understand we all have hard days but she laughed at us, rolled her eyes and walked away when we asked for strawberries and cream for our strawberries and cream French toast. Sometimes I see other servers getting mad at other guests... We go out to be served and we are more than happy to pay for our service!! But this was just a little too far for me...

Interesting mix of classic American dinner fare and Americanized-Mexican standards. The food is tasty enough but won't wow you. Decor is dated, but almost in a nostalgic way. I wouldn't take a date here, but definitely a place to meet family and friends. P.S. The flan was pretty amazing.

Beware of the servers at the karaoke bar. They generalize by saying that most people get so drunk that they forget to pay and then charge you more. Just make sure you get a receipt, so that you can prove that you paid. It’s a little trick they have only because some other people have told me that it has happened to them. It happened to me and because I brought it up to the manager, the blonde haired woman server gave me such a hard time that she decided not to serve me that night. I was very thirsty and sad, but I Was still able to drink water because some other person was kind enough to buy me one. She bullied me all night, stared me down as she spoke to customers about me, only two rid rid of me

We walked in and our 4 year old was very noticeably having a bad morning. Unlike other places they would have snubbed or given ideas not wanting you there but they still assured everyone has them and welcomed us in. As we walked out a friendly female guessing a supervisor or manager talked to my son asking if he was better and offered him a balloon. We are from Arizona and will definitely be visiting this place again next time we are here.

Love coming here for breakfast with my son and my daughter in law. I really love the breakfast platter, I know that's not the name of it but it has potatoes, sausage, eggs, bell peppers and it's delicious. It can feed two people. I really enjoy eating here and I'm sure most people will too. Lots of parking. Clean restrooms.

TLDR at bottom We stood in the door for 5 minutes not sure whether to seat ourselves. Someone said we could sit anywhere, so we walked past around 5 dirty tables before finding one clean enough to eat from. Staff walked right by our table and said nothing, offered us no menus (we saw a waiter walk by us with menus and then go set them down elsewhere. I had to go get them). We sat for 15 minutes before they mopped by our table with an extremely caustic substance that made my asthma flare up. We left without ever having spoken to a staff member. Awful service. TLDR: There isn't really much information I can give because I hardly had an experience here, due to no service after a considerable wait and poor choice of cleaning chemical.

Yeah, apparently this place has a dress code...... just tried to order a beer and was told that I couldn’t be in the bar because I had tank top on...... yeah, but a female patron seated at the bar drinking a beer was already wearing a tank top. There were less than a dozen people in the place and you want to tell me that I’m not welcome? Poor business management.

An old school family diner located on an out of the way corner of north-Sun Valley, the food doesn't disappoint. I stick with their Mex/American menu, particularly the beef burrito- guaranteed to fill you up. Lost a star because the drinks were over priced. Will be back.

If you are a snob probably not the place for you. Knowing that the food seems made with love and the staff is always friendly and kind how Los Angeles was in the past. I have been going here since I was young and now in my 30s. Not many local places have lasted as long as this place without being good enough. Thank you for keeping it old school and allowing eating opportunities to exist for reasonable people that aren't elite snobby fascist about comments on food when rating and want 10 star king size quality and service for $$ sign cost.

Never been to this place before. so i gave it a try. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE AGAIN! Let's start from the beginning. got to the restaurant. employees very friendly. i ordered pancakes and my daughter ordered french toast. eggs were great sausage delicious. now the pancakes were like extra large but like foam cant really describe the syrup was like mixed with water and it tasted like some kind of gel but it was not sweet at all. the french toasts were covered with eggs in fact all you could see was eggs and again the size of the bread was like for giants. I'm pretty sure they meant well but the food was just good. we left most of it paid for it and left.

Stumbled upon this restaurant while I was car shopping a few months ago. Was looking for a quiet place to have a meal and review the information that I acquired about the cars I was considering buying. It had an inviting feel to it, and we were not disappointed. The restaurant has a Southwestern focused decor. You get the feel of it with the wagon wheels on the walkway in, followed by the lobby entrance beautiful wood armoires showcasing Hispanic dolls and other artifacts from the wild wild west, lace curtains and simple muted paint. There is a ceiling mural and a fish tank, which was a nice touch to the remaining decor. The menu is quite extensive. Their specialty is Mexican food, but they also offer a good variety of sandwiches, salads, burgers, breakfast items and combination (skillet) platters. Lunch and dinner offerings include vegetarian, meatloaf, turkey, pork chops, steak, chicken or seafood. I was in the mood for a sandwich, so I ordered the Monte Cristo. It was very tasty, so big I could have shared with my husband. The bread was very moist, generous portions of ham, dusted with the perfect balance of confectioner sugar. And maple syrup just right - not too sweet! My husband decided to try one of the "South of The Border" plates, Taquitos Rancheros. Again, enough for two to share! This is a casual family restaurant with great service, generous portions and very affordable. There were a number of other items I was considering before I chose the Monte Cristo. Given the chance to dine here again, I would choose this restaurant for a nice casual meal with friends or family.

Great food, but the employee's are dirty the handle money , credit cards and they serve you a drink with dirty hands. They don't use the ice scooper they but there hands inside the ice machine. I told the manager even though she have me a business card for 20 %next visit She should off gave me the 20% that day or not charge me at all?

Big Jim's Family Restaurant has located at Sheldon and Laurel Cyn for many years. I ate there for the first time approximately 30 years ago and I have never had a bad meal. You get large portions at a fair price. The servers are very attentive and do a great job. The large paved parking lot is entered from Laurel Cyn and it is free. .

Terrible experience here last Sat morning. We got seated right away but, it took a long time to get a wait person. Brought us lukewarm ice tea and we asked for a breakfast menu. Took a long time to come back for our order and then just disappeared for a very long time. Finally, when the no longer iced tea was done, brought food out. Husband said his eggs were cold, he got the wrong toast, my omelette smelled so bad I couldn’t sit near it. We had to leave. We asked for our check but, were let to leave without paying. Won’t go back.

It had been years since I have been to Big Jims Family Redtaurant. I went with friends and it was fabulous. I sure will not stay away for long again. The food was large portions and delicious at a very fair price. The waiter was very attentive and efficient. There is a large paved parking lot and it is free parking.
