Right now this business receives a score of 4.2 stars out of 5 and that score has been based on 1122 reviews.
As you can see it has an average rating is very high, and it is founded on a high number of opinions, so we may conclude that the valuation is very accurate. If people have bothered to value when they've done well, it works.
You know that we don't usually bother to place evaluations when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant is classified in the category of Indian restaurant.
Buffet offer is totally a bargain, if you are hungry. However, most dishes are on a blend side and lack original Indian spiciness and, if I may say so, passion for food. Stuff is nice and helpful. The place is clean.
Pizza is delicious, but customer service is bad. Waited 2hrs for my pizza because apparently they gave it to someone else and didn't realize it. But instead of explaining or even give a discount, all they said was it was coming soon and I had to go ask for it several times. Luckily I like the pizza or I would not be coming back.
Food is very overpriced and looks like the target demographic is white people. Don't fall into the trap, and eat better Indian food. Your welcome. Protip: Next time you go to an ethnic restaurant, make sure you see the ethnic minorities actually eating there and not white people.
Cozy little spot with delicious Indian offerings, my group got the Chicken Tikka Masala, the Butter Chicken, and the Goan Pork Curry with a side of Naan. Everything was delicious, 10/10 would recommend.
Mixed results. The paneer tikka was fantastic, with incredible depth of flavor; the mussel curry was good, but a bit mild. The chilli cheese naan was an abomination, almost inedible.
Great food and awesome customer service...
I was really excited to take my girlfriend here for dinner after going and seeing a show. It didn't even begin to live up to the hype. The food was well-prepared just no seasoning other than the masalas. My first order of lamb chops were so overcooked. The braised beef short rib was cooked perfectly but no seasoning whatsoever. The best dish was the barramundi and the rice. No great hurry to return. Sad really.
Good Indian cuisine..bit high prices but I guess it's justified being in downtown. Not very happy with the chat as they don't use actual papdi. But the place gives vibes of being in the 80-90's era of India movies.
Really good food. Great staff, and Bollywood movies playing on the walls make for a fun atmosphere.
Very good customer service, staffs were professionals!
I got the veggie plate which was ok but the falafel could have been bigger (or more of them since they were mini size).
If you'd like some good, delightfully amazing Indian cuisine in DTLA . You'd need to look no further. Highly recommended. My wife and I love it.
Yes, a very special place, with unique dishes of taste and quality, not quantity. For a person who frequents restaurants, this will be a great experience.
More for young people rather than a family time. Have basic selection of food. Food was nice.
Good place, nice Indian food. Space is small, all tables are very close to each other. Expect waiting time if you have not reserved in advance. Prices are on the higher side.
Somewhat overpriced. But I guess it’s okay considering the location and it being downtown LA. However, I feel like I paid $14 for a chic-fil-a sandwich that was basically dipped in some butter chicken sauce/gravy. The sandwich was a great effort in trying to be creative/innovative, but I feel it was not up to par.
Good Indian food. The environment was nice. The ambience changed from a peaceful quiet place to a full house where people were literally lined up outside, so come early. The place is small but they have two floors for large groups it can be very cozy. Our waiter was the best! Very attentive, funny, pleasant and made us feel right at home. They have good wine!
"The Awesome Food " if you are visiting LA, don't miss Badmash company
This location is one of my favorites. I'll return with my friends. Similar to a place in Denver I liked.
Not for Desis, the food is not authentic and over prized.
A very warm and relaxed place. Great food was served her and the staff were friendly and kind.!!!
THE BEST Indian food in LA! I have been here a few times in the past and always stuck to the lamb burger and butter chicken samosas - the best samosas ever! However, yesterday I ordered the lamb vindaloo and hallelujah! It was the best vindaloo I’ve had in LA! I’ve been searching for nearly 10 years for an authentic Indian restaurant and THIS is it!!!!
Wow, this place was great. I had many Indian food in bay area, but this place was great for me. Little spicy, but very refreshing and clean.
Very wonderful place , good staff and service ! Good job
Best Indian place in LA, with some classic Indian dishes on the menu (butter chicken, saag paneer, black lentils, etc). Cordial, amiable staff. I have been to their other restaurant in Fairfax, and that one is just a shade better than this one when it comes to the taste. Go to this one if you don't mind loud surroundings.
Their staffs are so nice
It was nice but samosas overpriced and you can get a lot better at many other places. Fries excellent. Hostess tells us wait is 5 minutes, turns out wait is 30 minutes because hostess was getting things cleared up on the upper deck while tables were empty on the lower deck. Could do with some reorganizing.
This location is one of my favorites. Definitely worth going back to. The bill was good for what you get. Feels like a place in Charlotte that I enjoyed visiting.
Good vibe and amazing decor. Vegetarian options are limited and food could be a bit more spicy. Samosas and chai are on point.
Badmaash, that's what you would call their dishes. Overrated, overhyped, not a place where you would get your money's worth. There are definitely other places you can find if you want to try authentic Indian food or if you can hold your hunger a little longer. If yall had invested more on your recipes than your decor, this place might have been a little better.
Pretty authentic Indian food, but this place can get expensive if you get a full course meal. The samosas are best I have had in a while and lamb chops are great too. Overall a great place to get some good Indian food.
My favorite shelf is right across from the front desk where they keep recent translated literature. There's always great stuff there. I love the vibe of this store. And it's bright. And it has a kitty.
They served me raw chicken. Because the sauce covers everything up I didn’t find this until I was nearly done eating and I was absolutely disgusted. The manager explained that they usually avoid this problem by cutting the chicken into smaller pieces so they cook faster. So if you have any pieces of meat bigger than a marble you might want to send it back to be cooked more throughly. Or better yet, just avoid this place. The rest of the food was okay but not at all worth the price. Service was impossibly slow. We finished our drinks and were never able to get refills. My first clue should have been the 25 minute wait for a table that ended up being a 40 minute wait for a window bar seat. I cannot recommend any other restaurant more strongly.
Delicious and first-rate ecosystem. Easy parking and speedy provider. Food become scrumptious. Priced very responsible.
Small, cozy, and trendy Indian restaurant with a tasteful selection of traditional and more contemporary dishes. Prices are a little on the higher side (think high teens for a main course, not including naan) but the quality of food and service is worth the price. This is not a bad spot to get dinner before hitting up the local drink establishments in DTLA, but it does get full rather quick. If you want to avoid the lines, it's best to visit for lunch on a weekday. Overall, Badmaash is an easy recommendation.
Nice location to meet with family. I look forward to a return trip. The bill was reasonable. I can see why they have so many reviews.
Wow!!! I discovered this place from watching Spectrum 1. They told the story of the family owned and run restaurant and how they started in Toronto, moved to NYC, then eventually settling in Los Angeles. Their take on Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, absolutely hooked me on this place, the Tandoori Broccoli is a treat as well. I've also been for the Sunday midday brunch, incredible is all I can say, they even have a chicken sandwich that's not on the menu, must try!!! As good as the food the service is just as top notch!
If you like indian food I recommend it.
Do not leave if it's busy, it is worth it. I had a cousin come into town and asked me to take him back here. Prices were decent.
If you love Indian food one of the best places in the town or in the country. Food had perfect blend of spices and waiters were very friendly with knowledge about the food and just not people have no idea what they are serving. Loved it so much!!
Food is good. Taste is just fine. The quantity is not sufficient. Prices are high. Decent and friendly staff.
I can see that this is a good Indian food restaurant something that I definitely enjoyed it has a good menu and selection some fusion foods as well The pricing here is decent as well I would definitely say to call in if anything ahead to see how busy they are and see if they can put a table on hold for you at a certain time otherwise you will be waiting outside place can be a little cramped but that seems to be the aesthetic
Don't worry if it's busy, it is worth the wait. This place has many good reviews for a reason.
I like their foods, so unique and tasty!
Amazing food. Would definitely recommend
Pretty good indian food with a different flare - simple ingridients made to perfection
Small place with a good menu, butter chk samosa and Lamb burger were really good, do try them! Iced chai lacked sugar, which was fixed after I pointed out. Portion sizes are appropriate, but small by American standard.
Hipster Indian place. Small cozy Indian restaurant, food was great, a little small on portions and above average on price I’d say. Decor was nice, food and service was great which is what really matters. Highly recommended by friends who have previously visited. Like typical downtown restaurants no parking. Found parking about 2-3 blocks away, surrounding area was very sketchy especially from being out of town. Overall a great experience but not a game changer.
Yes, a very special place, with unique dishes of taste and quality, not quantity. For a person who frequent restaurants, this will be a great experience. The dishes are very tasty and fully consistent with the style and orientation of the institution, and they are also very satisfying. Yes, the staff and service are excellent, as it should be. But it's a bit expensive...
The Mango Lassi and Saag Paneer are perfection. Saag Aloo isn't on the printed menu, but if you need vegan paneer they'll happily do it. The Chana Masala is also vegan and delicious. A DTLA staple, truly fantastic Indian cuisine in a clean, casual setting.
Yes, a very special place, with unique dishes of taste and quality, not quantity. For a person who frequent restaurants, this will be a great experience. I LOVE IT!!!!!
On 19th April, I visited LA and stayed in a hotel in Downtown. Being a Indian, I visited this Indian restaurant Badmaash. Surprisingly, it is no where Indian, in respect of its food quality, service and pricing. No body speak and understand Hindi. Very 2 disappointed.
Mediocre Indian food. Parking is expensive since street parking is usually full. Food is overpiced as well.
The food was really good and the service too. A small place Overall a great place to get some good Indian food.
Big on name, but the food quality is not as good as an Indian would expect. It can be avoided, overhyped.
I visited this place today after suggestions from some friends. Mind you, I am visiting LA for the first time and I have visited a lot of Indian and pakistani restaurants around United States before this, plus I cook really well (good enough to have my word reached beyond the families of my friends). Also I hail from a Punjabi family in Delhi from where most of the items on the menu are. Well aware of how a particular dish should taste like at the very least. So I would not call myself an amateur in judging the food. I can describe this place as somewhere in the top 5 of my DO NOT VISIT LIST. Only thing good in my order was mango lassi and tandoori roti. Other things that I ordered were Paneer tikka masala, Badass chicken tikka and dal makhani. Reason - 1) Dal makhani is to be cooked with cream/whole milk on low flame. The dal served was almost watery, little flavour except the natural essence of the daal and some basic spices. Only that the lentils being soft doesn't make it dal makhani. I was like maybe, its this dish that would be like that. I ignored. 2) Paneer tikka masala - literally they hastily prepped this. The paneer cubes are ought to be cooked in the gravy for some time for the cubes to absorb the flavoring. The gravy was decent (not amazing as I had expected from the reviews) but was separate from the paneer cubes (which appeared as if cut and freshly put into gravy). The gravy was mild hot which reaffirmed the fact that it was not cooked properly. A properly cooked dish would be steamy hot and wont turn cold within a couple of minutes. 3) Badass chicken tikka - The flavouring was good. Chicken was cooked well. Had some oily insides but thats expected usually. However, the flavouring was only on the outside and the insides were pretty much flavourless. Again, the marination was maybe not done for long enough. On top of that the quantity was like somewhere around 200 gms. This had me crazy. Like I am paying 18 dollars for this dish. I was literally cursing myself for adding this to my order. 4) Insanely expensive food - This place is crazy expensive. When I say crazy, I mean I have never seen these rates for these dishes, that too for this less of a quantity. I mean you can easily score a good buffet or a thali (multiple dishes with rice/roti and/or sides) in the same cost as just this 200 gm chicken. When I talk about these rates, I am comparing this to bay area (where techies have already driven up all costs). So if you say 16 bucks for i small bowl of daal not cooked properly and 18 for 200 gm chicken is decent, you need to roam around and check out other restaurants. 5) Quantity - Somewhat corelated to previous point. The quanity served was not at all reflective of the cost. What turned me mad was that both above factors had driven up my expectations for the food. All three factors fell way below expectations. I usually do not write reviews but my experience was bad enough to motivate me to write this. While leaving, the server offered us 2 cups of "special curting chai" while we were drinking iced mango lassi (yoghurt drink). While I am thankful for the gesture, I am not sure if they knew this was one of the strangest combination they could provide us with. Drinking hot tea over mango lassi. But thank you for the gesture though. Lastly, even the beverages like thumbs up that costs 50 cents in india for a can, is imported and sold at indian grocery stores for a dollr are being sold by this shop for $5.5. What a joke, this is pure loot. No wonder they call their shop Badmaash (the bad guy /gangster / the one who does bad deeds). Simple enough to get to the intentions.
Solid spot. Good an fairly unique food. Also great ambiance - they had a movie playing on a projector when we were there.
Top notch Indian place ! The chicken was not as tender as I would have liked but the flavors are spot on. Their tandoori roti although good can be improved a bit. For the aforementioned reason, I would order the paneer Tikka masala over the chicken tikka masala.
Ambiance is so good that makes you feel like you're at home
Worst food and extremely costly. Not like real Indian food. Waste of a significant amount of money.
There are much better restaurants that offer way better Indian food at a much cheaper price. Not even close to authentic. In their website they have mentioned - "If Gandhi were our age today, he’d totally be a hipster. He’s like ‘peace, love, nonviolence, eat healthy, be good...’. I would say - "if Gandhi were our age today, he would totally be a hipster. He would be like peace, love, nonviolence, eat healthy, but don't ever visit this restaurant"
I reserved this restaurant for my birthday dinner at 6PM. Due to the impossible traffic on this street, I walked into the restaurant at 613. Once the girl finished looking up my reservation she stated "if you arent here by 15 minutes after your reservation time, we give away your seats. It is now 616". I asked her to accommodate me being that it's my birthday and I'm sure it was minutes before 615 when I arrived. I asked for managers. Both of whom advised i was to sit at the bar, or i could eat, but have to get up in an hour. I had wanted to go back there for 2 years now, and on my birthday. What a wonderful experience!
Nice cosy place. Very friendly staff. Good food.
It's pretty good. They cook their chicken separately from their Curry so it doesn't dry out like most places. That's smart. They're a little underwhelming with their spices and their seasoning. Their lamb burger is dry. Their pickled vegetables are their best dish. I can eat a whole plate of them.
Decent Indian food. Good ambience!
Small place but great food, good staff.
Lively atmosphere.. good service, but not great "real" Indian taste.. chhole masala was ok, paneer Tikka masala was little sweet and bland..
Service and staff is excellent but the food isn't that great. There are way better choices for Indian food in LA area. But if you want to visit a restaurant with amazing vibe then this might be your choice.
Food was pretty good- the broccoli dish was majorly disappointing but the chicken tikka masala was pretty good. Roti did not live up to expectations either and staff seemed a bit overwhelmed...overall, a mediocre experience.
Very tasty food. Amazing Mumbai style cutting chai.. decor and ambience is nice. Good service. A bit pricey though.
The food does full justice to Indian cuisine - tasty and heartfelt. The ambience with the silverware and serving dishes made me really nostalgic and added a great deal to am amazing experience. Pick up anything on the menu and order it, you wouldn't be disappointed. The ParleG icecream sandwiches with the cutting chai is a home run. Loved it and a must try ! A great place to try a new take on Indian food.
Great food. Reservations are recommended
Too expensive...$10+tax for 5 small dahi Puri (yogurt puff)...it felt like it was worth $2...Poor rating because of the trivial quantity.
Good indian! The papri chaat is my favourite!
The food was really good and the service too. A small place and a bit pricey for the quantity they provide. We tried fish moilee, butter chicken sandwich and Punjabi sabzi. All were good. Rosemary Naan and Tandoori roti were good too but really small.
Both locations of this restaurant are excellent and I always have a good meal every time that I go. The food is legitimately spicy. I ordered the lamb vindaloo and it was definitely not playing around. The menu is not all traditional but the nontraditional items are fun also.
The service and the staff are excellent. The food, not so much.... not if you're looking for anything authentic tasting
Very hip Indian Ambience. Food is legit. The spiced Lamb Burger is just amazing. The Dal Makhani or black lentils tasted just perfect. You gotta try the chai (just love the way it's served, like you were in a train or railway station in India). The chai mousse is something you shouldn't miss. They are cool with replacing the meat with paneer/cottage cheese for them vegetarians. Their service is great. Highly recommend making a reservation.
A very popular indian restaurant in downtown LA, however we were disappointed with the quality of the food for the price we paid. Avoid if you can.
A totally fun and a chilled out place in Downtown LA. An interesting menu for sure. Slightly on the higher side when comes to pricing.
So, google maps asks me How was Badmaash? My answer - 2 times in 2 nights! Atmosphere is great, intimate and small but unlike some NYC places I've been, never felt like I was sitting my neighbor (or them on me). Beer choice is solid. But you're not here for the beer, OMG, the Indian is fantastic. Start with somosas, take the butter chicken or traditional, cant go wrong with either. Butter chicken main, great! Poutine? Yes, poutine at an Indian restaurant. The cheese curds were spot on, as was the gravy, did I mention its topped with Chicken Tikka?! Do yourself a favour. Go. (Book first though. Went on a Monday and Tues, busy both times).
I saw the documentary on the family so I had to try it out. Super delicious and it was a fun experience. Call ahead on busy days to get a reservation. Me and my friend were lucky we went early to get a seat because they were completely booked. They do have some first come first serve seats and we were happy to have been there at the right time. Love the sauces.
Great food, good vibes and great service. Will return!
Business travelers, beware!! Been there couple of time as its close to the hotel I stay at and must say, their service is sub-par at best. For a restaurant that service decent Indian food, they are trying too hard to be ‘elite downtown’ restaurant. With an empty room at the entrance, they made me wait 30 mins so they could sit me at the bar or the window single seating stating they had reservations... must have been A LOT OF CANCELATIONS for the restaurant tonight to still be empty when I was leaving. It is absolutely unfriendly for so single seaters. Find another restaurant that isn’t looking at the $$ spending that you will do per visit.
Great food and service. The jolokia was amazing. Only negative is that $4 for one samosa is way overpriced even for LA.
I am pretty new to Indian food so I have nothing to compare it to. I had the butter chicken which was quite tasty. The rosemary naan was very good and I so enjoyed dipping it in the butter chicken sauce. I also really enjoyed the pickled vegetables that were a garnish. I wish I would have asked for more. My only issue was that a coke was $4, otherwise, I would go back.
Nice food and good taste. Cool posters. Ofcourse since uts in dtla parking is difficult. A found it tad expensive but i liked it.
The service and the staff are excellent. The food, not so much.... not if you're looking for anything authentic tasting. The servings are also small and proportionately a bit pricey but it is worth it!!!!.
Amazing Indian food also try their boss sauce it's too good to miss
I've come to the conclusion that people who really enjoy this place don't actually like Indian food. Rice isn't included in any of your entrees (which would have been great to know ahead of time, never had this happen at an Indian restaurant before). The food was mediocre at best - we ordered the most popular items on the menu and there really wasn't much taste there. Tiny portions for insane prices. Easily the most disappointing place we ate at in LA.
Very good Indian and Indian-inspired food. Order lots of small plates and share. But be forewarned: all those dishes add up! Still, this is a great place to go on a casual date or with friends. Save room for dessert, because they are tasty. Very friendly staff.
Awesome place with lots of variety of foods, customer service was good and ambiance was cool.
It’s no more than expensive cafe food. You can find a much better experience for same price. When you order a glass of wine, can hardly see the liquid.
Definitely one of the best places in the area. Fast, efficient, and courteous service. I can see why they have a lot of great reviews.
The food is good however in the butter chicken, a few pieces of the chicken did not thaw properly. However the taste, ambience is good. Had a good lunch for 30$ for one person so not bad for LA downtown.
food was so yummy. there was fast, efficient, and courteous service. prices are reasonable.
Easily my favorite Indian restaurant in LA area. The place is small so there is normally a wait. The food is excellent. Prices are reasonable. There is no parking lot but street parking is generally available nearby. Friendly service. Not a very fancy place but certainly ok for a date etc. Not really suitable for larger groups.
The best Indian food in Los Angeles! Lots of veggie options, the veggie curry is the best I've ever had. Service can be a little scattered when they are busy but the drinks make up for that.
Chicken was undercooked and service was depressingly slow. Long wait and cramped space. Would not recommend.
Very good Indian food, but pricey!
Very friendly staff (almost too much) and great food. They took very good care of our group of six. Only issue was they automatically charged the tip and the lightning wasn't great so my boss didn't see the tip and gave them another one on top of it. Got sorted out just fine but keep it in mind. Space is cozy with a modern industrial vibe that matches their modern take on Indian food.
Good food for the American palate, Indian style.
Some unique (fusion) takes on Indian food, but pass if you are looking for traditional Indian fare.
We really enjoyed Badmaash. Pretty awesome twist on some great Indian dishes and some fantastic traditional staple dishes as well. The staff was pretty awesome too. Tables are close together so it's pretty easy to chat and make friends with the people near you which I enjoy doing. We'll definitely hit Badmaash again the next time we're in L.A.
Only masala fries was good. Butter chicken, channa masala, eggplant, dal makhni was not good at all. The taste was bland. Samosa was not fresh, it was double deep fried.
My bf and I love this place. Been here twice already and we made reservations to go again in a few weeks. Speaking of reservations, make sure to make them because this place is a bit small and it's rather popular. If you show up without reservations, like we did the first time we went, you may end up waiting for at least an hour or so. Highly recommend the tikka masala fries - they are truly great.
Went in with six people and we went in family style, trying seven dishes and three different naan, everything was fantastic. (Cheese and chili stuffed naan and rosemary naan were outstanding) Beer and wine selection was quite decent, cans/bottles, and dessert was also great. They are small, so it you go with a group they wont seat you until everyone is there. A reasonable policy but if someone is running late your out in the street, there isn't really a waiting area.
This location is absolutely outstanding. Service treated us so nice. Prices are fair.
The lamb burger was definitely on my top 5 list! Hip Indian fusion spot with a Canadian touch (owners grow up. In Toronto). And you should try the poutine if you have never have been! Make sure to make reservations!
If you come here I highly recommend the saag paneer for your main dish. Each flavor of samosa for a side and the mango lassi is the drink to get or you will be missing out! The only thing that sucks is it is expensive and to to go orders. Even though it is expensive it is really good. I just wish I could order to go.
For an Indian restaurant they sure do serve a lot of meat. If you want something vegan it's gonna take some special changes to the menu, which quite frankly annoys me. I don't like going to restaraunts that you have to sit there and try and figure out your options, what can be adjusted to meet the needs of a vegan. I've never been to an Indian restaurant that I couldn't eat the majority off the menu. Also if you are vegan and a fan of Naan, you ain't gonna get it here. There is another type of bread you can get, but Naan it is not. The wait staff is very helpful. The food is good, but not good enough and coupled with the very small amount of vegan capabilities makes this restaurant and easy pass for me.
Tried this spot already with my friend and I am obsessed ever since. I enjoyed the great mood and tasty dishes and drinks. They never disappoint.
You have to visit Badmaash if you’re in LA Make sure you reserve before you want to dine. The place is super busy. The atmosphere is amazing and cosy at the same time. The food tasted authentic but has some modern twists at the same time. You won’t be disappointed Happy dining.
I will be back with my coworkers. The place has a cool feel to it. Mood here reminds me of Colorado Springs area.
Wow! Some of the best Indian food I have had in a super hip atmosphere. The staff were amazing and fun.
Nothing great, average food, cool decor upstairs. Tea in the end was the best part.
Shittiest Indian food possible at skyrocket prices. This is an expensive and bad ripoff of indian food. I am not sure if the owner is aware but their cooks are definitely not cooking authentic Indian. It is more watery, more like they are saving up on costs. Ordered lassi, had half glass full of ice and lol it was for 6 bucks. What surprised me was the quantity, it could be justified only if I pay maybe 25% of their charged price (telling from my experience at other restaurants). On top of that, the taste was not authentic. Period.
Great service and food tastes awesome, recommended for family or friends dine-in!
Everything here was so wonderful. The chai was outstanding.
Beyond delicious. Do not leave without trying the lamb chops, fries, and chickpeas and chips. The flavors are familiar but rearranged in a new and creative way. Do not miss eating here. There is something for everyone.
Hip & cozy place. I've had better Indian food, but they have different fusions on their menu for you to try. I'd say give em a go. You might actually like it.
Service was great. Food is good.
Went here for Saturday lunch with friends. Made reservations prior. Amazing food and great service during visit. MUST get chicken Tikka poutine. Was so full after but ice cream deserts were small, light, and a great ending to the meal. Can be pricey but definitely worth it.
This place is really good!
This place was soooo good. I love the chicken Tikka poutine. Probably the best poutine I've had. The beer was good too. I was disappointed with how expensive everything was. And my wife got fried chicken but it came with no sides and was a small plate and it was still like 15 for that. I'd still recommend it. I thought it was all delicious
A pleasantly surprising assortment of creative Indian eats in Downtown LA. We especially loved the chaat and the desserts.
Yes, a very special place, with unique dishes of taste and quality, not quantity!! love it
The food here is soooo good, the ambience is hip, and the service is amazing. We got the lamb burger and poutine. The Canadian-Indian fusion cuisine is brilliant, beautiful and delicious! Also our favorite server is Jacob, he deserves a raise :)
Yes, a very special place, with unique dishes of taste and quality! Awesome
Would you like salsa and cheese in your hamburger bun? Would you consider that innovative and Mexican-American fusion? Or how about french fries in your enchilada? Is that your idea of great fusion cuisine? If not, Badmaash LA is not for you. The most unimaginative new-wave Indian restaurant out there. Sure, theirs is not authentic Indian food - they don't claim that- but it isn't all that imaginative or great either. And overpriced too. Waiter - young dude - was very friendly though
Terrific service, good food
If you’re expecting a hearty Indian meal, do not come here. The butter chicken ($16) with 2 naans ($8) is barely adequate for one person. The food does taste ok but the naan was dry and the samosa burned. It may make the cut for someone who occasionally eats Indian food, but for most avid consumers of traditional Indian food, it will leave you majorly disappointed.
Recently dined here for the first time, and I am a) absolutely hooked and b) most definitely coming back! Such delicious, fresh food, and prompt, friendly service. We started with the traditional punjabi samosas (so simple and yet so delicious), then moved on to the "badass" chicken tikka (so tender and moist--OMG), the fried chicken (Y U M), chili cheese naan (where have you been all my life), regular naan (also fantastic), and the basmati pilaf (expertly cooked). Every single thing was so tasty and fresh, true comfort food at its peak. Also a wide selection of beers and wines. Service was friendly and quick too. Wish I could give this place 6 stars--I am coming back to try the catfish and highly recommend you give Badmaash a try too!
They serve sumptuous and juicy chicken. Highly recommended
Really delicious. Excellent, attentive service. But very loud.
Very nice Indian taste , specially Indian style tea, served Indian way
Great flavor. Love the vibe and the food matches it. Need to try a few more dishes and other location. Edit since reviewed: But each time the meat has been undercooked. Same thing at Fairfax.
For FAIRFAX: I wanted to like this place. It's 3 blocks from my house and I love Indian food. Pros: Nice hostess. Cons: Expensive. Small portions. Server will try to upsell you at every turn. Noisy. Mainly high tops or shared tables. Did I mention expensive with small portions? Server dropped check immediately after dessert. Don't think I'll be back. $120 for one small fish entree, side of rice, veggie, beer and 2 glasses of wine. Robbery
This place sucks !! Overpriced . Blant food.. not for the people who has tried authentic Indian food already .
So good and great service
Had a fabulous vegetarian Indian meal at BADMAASH Downtown . The food great and the owners are the hosts! Wastm and friendly people who made us comfortable and served us very deliscious food! Will be back!
Very tasty food. Entree portion is a bit smaller than a typical Indian joint.
This place deserves its hype. All the best of Indian flavors, but so much brighter and lighter than you often find. The main ingredients and spices shine (not too oily or creamy). Three of us shared vegetarian options - lentils, spinach and eggplant - accompanied by pickled veg, rice and naan. The rice pudding is by far the best I've ever had. The coconut, cardamom and ginger flavors were perfectly balanced. I had a natural rosè and it paired really well with the spicy food.
Awesome fresh Indian food. It was almost so different than the standard fare that it tasted sort of Californian. We had poutine, mussels - must get, butter chicken saag, samosa, naans - get rosmary one. Got reservation OpenTable.
Everything we had was on point. Recommend this to anyone interested in traditional Indian flavors with a modern approach. Server was very friendly and knowledgeable. The naan quesadilla and tikka masala were my favorite. Get a side of yogurt sauce. Can't have enough of that.
Food was fantastic and I had really good food after a long time.
So the I'm feeling really bad for leaving a not so positive review because BADMAASH Downtown LA was how I came to know about DOSA on Filmore, which is my favorite spot in the city for good Indian food. The last time I came here, the food was great, but this time around, it wasn't.
Fantastic and authentic Indian street food. Wife loves the place. Only disappointment is that portion size is very small. It's a small place so book a table and arrive or you might find yourself waiting.
Groovy hipster postmodern indian food served in a loft-like location. Food is slap-you-in-the-face delicious. Chicken tikka poutine wins the collision-of-cultures award, and you absolutely must not miss it.
The service and the staff are excellent. The food, not so much.... not if you're looking for anything authentic tasting. The servings are also small and proportionately($80 for two people eating modestly and no booze) a bit pricey for what it is. The food is fine in quality, but much too sweet and Americanised for anyone wanting actual Indian cuisine.
Good place and the staffs are nice
Service and staff is excellent but the food isn't that great. There are way better choices for Indian food in LA area.Love this place!
Yes, a very special place, with unique dishes of taste and quality, not quantity. For a person who frequent restaurants, this will be a great experience
Good no frills food. Generous portions
Getting those spicy food cravings. This is one of the place to try indian food and burgers.Loved the food here.
I like their Indian foods. better try it guys!
Totally overhyped and expensive for the quantity served. I’m sure there are much better Indian restaurants around. The butter chicken samosa was good. I probably would visit only for that.
Yo. This place is for real. Lamb Burger is
